This genuinely made me so happy. I had hopes when I read the first book but I've been burned by the "late bloomer/haven't found the right person" trope before, so I didn't want to get them too high up.

He's one of my fave characters too, and he's written so well here. Genuine joy. What a gift for pride month.

you are rahbie fahntaine. there are unknown werewolves who have shown up in your pack’s territory, and you are all locked in a tense silent standoff across this. clearing or whatever.

suddenly. the giant buff ass shredded nigh-bald invading alpha steps forward. and begins reciting. bad slam poetry? a skit? a play? with your own alpha. who is just standing there angrily, but playing along. with feeling.

the terrible weird roleplay continues and the new alpha, who is now clearly the heir to the bennett line, the alpha who is to be the alpha of all alphas — who you know had enough rizz at seventeen to win the undying love and loyalty of your alpha even if he’s also pissed as hell at him — keeps saying things like “then I was all grrrr 🐶 and rawr 🦁 and mom he smelled like epic 💯 and awesome 💪”
