This honestly feels like a joint (successful) effort between the F-Zero and Star Fox fandoms to get the best sunglasses fox pilot father(s) above transphobic, anti-Semitic, pro-slavery etc father. And just to make me even happier it put James Hetfield at the top (I don't actually know if this is supposed to correspond to the stuff I post/like. I'm sure it's not because I feel like the Star Fox fandom holds on to dead parents better than the Harry Potter fandom but given how the name James McCloud is familiar to two fandoms rather than one... okay two abandoned video game fandoms with a lot of fandom overlap aren't gonna be larger than the most popular fandom to write fanfic on)

If Elia wasn’t at harrenhal would Rhaegar crowning Lyanna have still been a scandal?

I think so, yes - a scandal different in kind, and perhaps to a limit extent different in degree as well, but a scandal nonetheless. While I do not at all want to undersell the extent to which Rhaegar passing over his own wife shocked and offended onlookers at Harrenhal - there is a reason Elia reportedly sat there “stiff-backed and trying to act as if nothing was wrong” in a probable attempt to minimize Rhaegar’s public humiliation of her - Rhaegar’s choice to snub his wife was only part of the Harrenhal tourney scandal. This is a point I made before (in a reblog from the late great Steven Attewell), but to reiterate, while the crowning of a queen of love and beauty is not necessarily and in all cases an expression of romantic sentiment, this act is not also completely free of such implications in every case either - especially when the chosen lady (or, rather, girl) is, by the standards of her (creepy, fetishizing) society, “part child, part woman … [a] ‘maid’ … [f]ertile but innocent, beloved of the singers”. For a man who was himself the son of a monarch infamous (at least in his early reign) for his seemingly omnivorous sexual appetite, offering the crown of queen and love and beauty to a beautiful, as yet unmarried (more on that in a moment) maiden, without any obvious sociopolitical justification for doing so, I think would have been seen as no less than the prince propositioning Lyanna in front of virtually the entire assembled nobility of Westeros - in other words, scandal enough on its own, without the added IOTL insult to Elia.

Moreover, because Lyanna was betrothed - and betrothed to the Lord of Storm’s End, no less - Rhaegar offering her the crown of the queen of love and beauty was a gross political insult, one immediately recognized by the Stark-Baratheon party present. Indeed, not for nothing does Yandel report that “Lady Lyanna's brothers seem[ed] so distraught at the honor the prince had bestowed upon her”, with “Brandon Stark … [having] to be restrained from confronting Rhaegar at what he took as a slight upon his sister's honor”, Eddard being “calmer but no more pleased”, and Robert Baratheon “brood[ing] on the insult”, so much so that “his heart hardened toward the Prince of Dragonstone from that day forth”. Even if Rhaegar, and likely the vast majority of the attendees, probably knew nothing about the specific geopolitical goals of the Stark-Tully-Baratheon-Arryn power bloc, every Westerosi aristocrat could appreciate the standard expectations of alliance represented by diplomatic marriages - expectations threatened by the apparent attempt by the crown prince to seize and use the Stark maiden at his whim, and presumably similarly discard her at his leisure. Again, if I can quote myself, “Lyanna was just sexualized enough to be seriously considered a target of romantic attraction while also being just unavailable enough to make any such attraction from anyone not her betrothed (or, perhaps, one of her brothers or her father’s bannermen) truly scandalous”.

i’m not sure that i could pinpoint very many artists he’d particularly like, but this is a classic rock boy right here. he’d be into ac/dc, motley crue, led zeppelin, etc. perhaps a bit of duran duran (this is where i’m projecting the most.) songs about s3x and women, and songs that make him feel like the rebel he is. (this playlist has been gale hansen approved on twitter btw)

oh i just know this kid would be into some funk and pop, especially 80s and perhaps even new wave (i’m again projecting). now THIS is a duran duran fan (specifically their early stuff), which is unsurprising since the lead singer has a drama degree. he’d also probably like fleetwood mac, and would be well-versed in the band’s drama. duran duran, wham!, fleetwood mac, abba, maybe even some hall & oates. songs with complex lyrics and also songs that make him wanna dance. lots of upbeat stuff because though he has things that bother him, he’d rather do anything but dwell on them.

contrary to what some may think, i think Cameron would absolutely groove to some rock n roll. HOWEVER. he is a 60s-70s rock n roll elitist. he thinks Billy Idol’s cover of Mony Mony is a disgrace. he wholeheartedly believes the Beatles are the best band to have ever graced the planet. Happy Birthday Bernard Joseph "Benny" Gallagher born June 10th 1945 in Largs.

There's very little about Benny online, his working life started in the Glasgow shipyards as a marine electrician and in his spare time played bass guitar in local semi-professional beat group The Bluefrets, which featured Graham Lyle on lead guitar.

Gallagher's first published song was "Mr Heartbreak's Here Instead", which he co-wrote with Andrew Galt. This was recorded as a single for EMI-Columbia in 1964 by Dean Ford and the Gaylords,the bulk of which later became chart-topping outfit Marmalade.

In 1966, Gallagher and Lyle – who by now had forged a songwriting partnership – moved to London in search of a publishing deal. Both continued to hold down day jobs, Gallagher as an electrician and Lyle as a shipping clerk, while waiting for their big break. After an abortive contract with Polydor, which yielded one unsuccessful single, the pair joined the Apple record label of Beatles fame, writing songs for Mary Hopkin.

Gallagher and Lyle first saw success as members of McGuinness Flint, a vehicle for ex Manfred Man member Tom McGuinness. Gallagher and Lyle left to work as a duo. Gallagher was credited as Bernard Gallagher on sheet music copies of early songs such as these, but later shortened his forename to avoid confusion with golfer of the same name. Although now playig as duo the pair also spent a short time in Ronnie Laine's band Slim Chance, making several TV appearances on a couple of songs.

In 1976 Gallagher and Lyle finally hit the big time with the help of US producer David Kershenbaum who has worked with Cat Stevens, Joan Baez Elkie Brookes and Supertramp, his work Brookes and has yielded multiple Grammys and an Oscar nomination.

The stand out singles from their album Breakaway, , "I Wanna Stay With You" and "Heart on My Sleeve" both hit the top ten and made the charts in the US. Two more songs from the album spawned big hits in the States for Don Williams, Stay Young,and Art Garfunkel with the title track Breakaway. The duo's next album, Love on the Airwaves, also produced by Kershenbaum, went silver in the UK but yielded only one minor hit single, "Every Little Teardrop". Their final two albums, Showdown and Lonesome No More – the latter issued on Mercury – failed to chart.

Gallagher and Lyle split in 1980, leaving behind an unreleased ninth album, Living on the Breadline. A song recorded for this set, "A Heart in New York", subsequently became another hit for Garfunkel.

Gallagher kept a low profile for much of the 1980s, but re-emerged in 1992 as bassist with The Manfreds, a mixture of ex members of Manfred Man, although not enjoying chart success they toured the world for several years before Benny left in 1999. . During his tenure in the band, he co-founded and served as chairman of the royalties campaigning body PAMRA, which was set up to ensure that musicians received a fair share of royalties from recordings and performances. He then spent a year or so with one of my favourite groups Dr Hook before he embarked on a solo career as a singer-songwriter, touring the folk club and festival circuits.

In 2010, Gallagher reunited with Lyle for two concerts in their former hometown of Largs in aid of Haylie House, a residential care home in the town. They then did a couple of gigs "The Big Gig" at Glasgow's Barrowland nightclub, alongside Marti Pellow, Jim Diamond and Midge Ure and and the MOARE Festival in Faversham, Kent, which was headlined by former Average White Band man Hamish Stuart.

In 2012, Gallagher and Lyle undertook a sell-out tour of Scottish venues, under the banner of "The Homecoming Tour"; their 22-song set included all their British chart entries and both their US chart-toppers, since then they seemed o have been popping up all over place at Festivals and on tour.

Gallagher has lso released two solo albums on his own OnSong label: On Stage and At The Edge Of The Wave. The latter set includes "Tusitala", a tribute to Robert Louis Stevenson, the name coms from RLS's time in Samoa, meaning "teller of tales" - by the local villagers. Journalist and writer Tam Cowan has also used Tusitala as tribute, naming his house at Swanston on the outskirts of Edinburgh Tusitala.

Gallagher and his wife Diane have four children: Dillon, and Paul (twins) and Julian and and Claire (twins). Both Dillon and Julian work in the Music industry, Julian has written songs for the band Five, Kylie Minogue and a couple of The Spice Girls solo songs.

There's nothing really new to say about Benny, I don't know if he has maybe retired, he did give an interview to the local newspaer in Largs, the Largs & Millport Weekly News where he said how he is indebted to Sir Paul McCartney for his musical career. He dd however play a gig last year with Ted Christopher for the Guardians of Scotland Trust His Facebook page hasn't been updated since January this year.

You haven't heard these names because the nazis made sure to erase every trace of them. But they were there. Three of them were jewish. Three of them were not. They were the comedian harmonists. At one point the most popular singers in europe. They were together between 1928 and 1935 when they were forced to disband.

Harmony closes on Broadway today. It was telling their story. It never found the right audience despite having music written by Barry Manilow, despite theatre legend Chip Zien being perhaps the most central character (despite the role not being in the original script at all), despite Sierra Boggess of Phantom of the opera fame, Julie Benko of Funny girl fame, Blake Roman of Hazbin hotel and the rest of these talented actors who aren't known yet (they will he, i trust it). Danny Kornfeld. Eric Peters. Zal Owen. Sean Bell. Steven Telsey. Allison Semmes. Stuart Zagnit (original english voice actor of Professor Oak in Pokemon fun fact) and everyone else who worked on this wonderful show. They deserved more. Harmony deserved more. This musical that makes me cry everytime deserved so much better. I hope it will find an audience one day.

About me: Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Raised by Bobby to know how to protect myself from the supernatural, but wasn’t raised specifically to be a hunter. He didn't exactly want me to be a hunter but he supports my choices because he knows I'll do what I want anyway. I like to write, read, make jewelry, listen to music. Before Dean came to get me I was an author who mainly stayed home writing and helping my dad with the salvage yard or helping him help other hunters. Occasionally going on a hunt with him if a monster happened to find itself in our area.

It was a last resort of course, first he'd try to call other hunter close by, but if they couldn't deal with it he'd reluctantly go. The Past:

The moment you've all been waiting for, 'plot' time!

In the beginning there were two: Chuck, the light, and Amara, the dark, brother and sister. Chuck, or god, wanted to create. Story goes Amara destroyed everything Chuck made, so he created the Archangels: Michael, Lucifer, Raphael, and Gabriel to help him defeat her. Here's where my DR starts to differ from canon. Yes, there was a battle between the god squad and Amara, however they failed to completely defeat Amara.

God didn't want to kill Amara. So he came up with a way to defeat her without killing her. Chuck created ‘The Mark’ this was to serve as lock and key to Amara’s prison. He entrusted it to his favorite son, Lucifer. However, something that powerful, something meant to contain that much darkness, corrupts. So Chuck and the Archangels attacked Amara. They nearly won, however by then the mark had already begun corrupting Lucifer. Instead of delivering the final blow to incapacitate Amara, Lucifer turned on his brothers and his father. While they were busy fighting Lucifer, Amara slipped away using what little power she had left to cloak herself from god and the Archangels. She wasn’t usually the run and hide type, but if they found her in the state she was in they’d surely win that fight. So she hid and waited for her strength to return to her.

Lucifer was not defeated that day either. Say what you will about him, but he’s not an idiot. He knew that if his family could nearly kill Amara, who was a great deal stronger than him, he knew that they’d most likely make quick work of him. He too fled, and for a while everything was quiet.

With no sign of Amara or Lucifer’s return, Chuck began creating again. He created the rest of the Angels, the world, you get the idea. While there were no obvious signs of Lucifer, he watched and waited. He saw his father's latest creation: humans. Chuck was worried Lucifer would return so he charged Gadreel with protecting them. Chuck was right to worry of course because Lucifer did return and to trick Adam and Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. Man fell, Lucifer gave the mark to Cain (making it the mark of Cain), he made Lilith then the princes of hell. He lost the war against heaven and got cast into hell and trapped in the cage by Michael.

Eventually Amara regains enough of her strength to return, and when she does she’s met with something that actually kind of amazes her. Humans, humanity. She was both intrigued and infuriated. She still wasn’t at full strength so she decided to live amongst the humans, more like hide amongst the humans, while she looked for her brother. But finding Chuck was only half the battle. She’d still need a way to defeat him. She knew the angels and Archangels would side against her and with Lucifer in the cage she had no other choice but to make something of her own.

Amara tried to make her own angels or similar beings like her brother had, but it seemed creating life was harder than she thought. Maybe the darkness just wasn't meant to create. Until it finally dawned on her. Chuck had given her the answer. Procreation. The idea disgusted her, true, but if a Nephilim grows to be stronger than their Angel parent, what of a god’s child? Surely they’d grow to be stronger than God himself. Yes. With this child, she could defeat god and become unstoppable.

While searching for Chuck, Amara lived all over the earths in the different worlds that Chuck created. Until she landed in ‘The Main Universe’ (Where God’s favorite Sam and Dean are). She was traveling the world looking for a human she didn’t completely detest. The one that would be my father.

My father was a born into a family of legendary hunters. Every hunter has their speciality. Every hunter has a favorite thing to hunt. My father's favorite were demons. His last case was a demon named Alastair, he worked the case alongside his little brother, Ivan. They had never encountered a demon so powerful. Alastair takes possession of Ivan and leaves Cassian for dead. Cassian survives and tracks Alastair all the way to Sioux Falls. Where he mets Bobby, who was also hunting Alastair. Bobby was reluctant to team up at first, but he gave in once Cassian shared his story. While working the case they become close friends, all was going well until they actually encountered Alastair. They were losing the fight against Alastair. While Bobby knocked unconscious Cassian pleads Alastair to leave his little brother be. If he must take someone take him instead. Let Ivan go and live his life. Alastair accepts only so Cassian can watch Ivan's body fall to the ground, having been dead since he was first possessed. Once he had taken hold of Cassian's body, he wakes Bobby. Taking over his body was not enough, he would force Cassian to watch as he took over his life. Alastair, as Cassian, settles in Sioux Falls.

Alastair sensed Amara's power the second she entered Sioux Falls. He was drawn to her darkness, to him that made her truly beautiful. She paid him no mind at first, but he persisted. She could hardly stand humans, let alone demons. Ultimately the promise of an all powerful weapon to use against Chuck and Alastair worshipping the ground she walked on won her over. Sure, for her he was just a means to and end, but for him? She was the love of his life. She wasn’t particularly kind or caring towards him but he didn’t much care.

After I was born the room lit up and started to shake. Amara knew this meant Angels were on the way to destroy her and whatever caused that surge of energy. She told my father to take me and run. He does, he takes me straight to Bobby. He would have preferred to leave me with other demons, but demons could be found to easily by angels. My father pounded on the door frantically until a confused Bobby came to the door. He explained that something was after him and Amara, but he didn't know what, but he needed his help. Bobby of course wanted to help, so he agreed to take me for a couple of days.

My father returned home to find nothing. Amara was nowhere to be found. Now you might be thinking, how can some run of the mill angels defeat Amara? She's as powerful as God. They were no run of the mill angels. The angels that came to deal with Amara were the remaining Archangels along with Cain (because he had the mark). This coupled with Amara being severely weakened by my birth, and the fact that she had never fully recovered from the first go around, she was sealed away as god had intended all those years ago.

My father, was so caught up in his grief that he almost didn't notice a man come out from the shadow's behind him. The two men fought eventually ending in Alastair leaving Cassian's body. Escaping to hell and leaving Cassian to deal with the agonizing pain of being stabbed. Then the man stood there, looking over his body with no particular emotion. For he was no man at all, he was an angel. An angel named Castiel.

Castiel had orders. He had orders to wait after Amara's defeat to find and destroy the reason for that power surge. With the death of my father he thought his orders complete, so he returned to Heaven. Upon his arrival he was met with disdain by his superiors. They not so kindly informed him that his orders remained and that he was to return to earth to finish them. He was not welcomed in heaven until his orders were fulfilled.

Castiel does as he's told. He searches my parents house for days, with not much luck until the house phone rings. It had been a few days since my father dropped me off at Bobby's and he hadn't heard back from him. He made some comment about how it's easier to run a salvage yard than to look after a baby. Castiel knew of a human's instinct to protect their young so he figured that was the missing piece. Castiel was set.

After a few hours of searching, Castiel finally found the salvage yard that had both a 'Bobby' and a baby. He snuck into the house on the property while Bobby slept. He looked over my makeshift crib with the intention of completing his orders. At the last minute I awoke, he expected me to scream or cry, but instead I just smiled and reached out to him. In that moment Castiel wondered why heaven would condone the death of an innocent child.

He stayed with me for a while, he'd never been so close to a baby before, there was something about this child. Something that made him decide on another path. He decided then and there that he would not- that he could not kill this child. Instead he warded me against the angels. The very same spell he would later use on Sam and Dean.

Throughout my childhood, Castiel would come by and check in on me. He hadn't meant for me to see him, in fact he's still not sure how I could see him, no one else had. He walked straight past my dad, with no incident. But somehow he wasn’t invisible to me. Every time he'd come by I'd reach out to him. He was confused as to why at first, but after a few tries he caught on.

Slipping away from heaven was no easy task, but he managed. When he discovered my powers he felt no choice but to increase his visits. My powers weren't like any he'd ever seen. By then I could speak and due to that one time I accidently saw his wings, I called him Birdie. He taught me what he could about controlling my powers, when I cried he'd comfort me, when I got hurt he healed me. He was so much more than a teacher, he was family to me. He was my best friend that no one else could see. Things stayed that way until I was nine. Until he left.

Growing up me and Dean weren't really close. We were never really around each other too much. Mainly because I only saw him when John was dropping off or picking up Sam. I saw him a little more once we got older and they started to come around more. Not a ton though. Me and Dean were friends, but not close. We became close after Sam left for Stanford. After Sam left he called me and kind of asked if I could be there for Dean. I reached out not really expecting a response, but he got back to me and we talked. After that we talked all the time and he came to visit whenever he could.

The Present:

Sorry this is short, but I didn't really change too much of the show's beginning so there's not much to say!

I am shifting to the beginning of the show. Before Dean went to go pick up Sam from Stanford he came to pick me up. They haven't spoken since Sam left so he wanted me to come along because he wasn't really convinced that he could convince Sam to leave with him to look for their dad. Totally not because we're crushing on each other. It's a two day drive from Sioux Falls to Stanford so I will be shifting to the night of the 28th.

First Shift:

I haven't shifted to this DR yet btw but this is what I have scripted for my first shift!

When I wake up I'll be laying on the couch in the living room. Dad will be reading some lore at his desk, the radio softly playing "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers. There's a knock on the door, my dad looks at me and asks if I'm expecting anyone. I'm still waking up so I don't respond. He huffs and goes open the door. He's gone for a minute, I hear some talking, then he walks back into the living room followed by Dean. Dean asks to speak to me, we go into the hallway while dad returns to his reading. He asks me to come with him, I agree. I grab my go bag and say goodbye to my dad, then we're off!

My Powers:

I just really wanna talk about my powers. Totally not an excuse to show off my shitty edits.

My Magic:

My powers for this DR are a combination of Wanda's powers (Unoriginal, I know. Idgaf.), god powers (Cuz Amara's my mom), and a siphon witches powers (from TVD). I wanted my powers to be visible and look more like witch magic than angel magic, which is why in the beginning I think I'm some sort of witch. My power is basically Wanda's magic with a black core and a dark red outer shell. It's more free flowing than Wanda's, her's stays in a ball shape mine is more free flowing and moves like fire. When I use my power my iris' glow the same dark red that my power is and it makes the same noise that Wanda's magic makes when she uses her power (Idk how to describe it, it's sort of like little whispers).

My wings:

The wings in my DR work more like the wings in the show ‘Lucifer’. They have to be summoned by the Angel, and when summoned they can be seen by everyone. (Example of wing summoning on the right.)

A phone ringing in the kitchen well-past midnight isn’t exactly business as usual, but it ain’t the first time Bobby’s been dragged from half-sleep by the shrill trilling and sure as shit, it won’t be the last.

(That it’s his own landline and not one of his “agency” phones is not a comfort. If someone’s calling him – real him, Robert Steven Singer, not Director So-and-So or Agent Somebody – this late, it’s bound to be a headache and a half.)

“’Lo?”

A sharp breath on the other end, and then a quavery little voice in his ear. “Uncle Bobby?”

Jesus fuck. Can’t be anybody but Sam Winchester.

“Sam? That you, boy?”

“Yessir.” Another quick breath that hitches halfway through, like Sam’s been crying or is just about to. “It’s late, I know, and I’m real sorry to call, you’re probably busy, but I just – please, can you please, please come, Bobby, please?”

“Whoa, kid. Slow down there.”

Already he’s mapping out what he might have to grab. Truck’s gassed up, so that’s no problem. Aid kit, probably, and his suture pack no doubt. If he’s gotta bring books, or spell shit, better to know now. Not likely John keeps any meaningful store of that kind’a of thing; he’s the sort that’s damnably suspicious of scrying and spellwork and the like. (Truth be told, it's not real likely John’s got much of a store of anything on hand, ‘cept maybe bottom-shelf booze and a whole bunch of ammo.)

“’S pretty late, Sam; not much happening here. What’d’ya need me for?”

“I don’t – there’s blood, and I dunno what to do, he won’t stop bleeding, Uncle Bobby, and he won’t tell me how he got hurt, but there’s blood and it’s a lot, and just, please.”

Christamighty.

He knew this’d happen one day. ‘S why hunters with kids leave ‘em be in one place, and why hunters with any lick of sense don’t have kids in the first place. Bobby’s never claimed to be an expert on parenting but even he knows better than to drag actual children into the firing line, especially children who’ve been kept in the dark about – well, about the things lurking in the dark for the better part of their lives.

Sam’s only known about what’s out there for what, five, six years now? Spring of ’92 was the first time Bobby handed him a glass of water on the porch and Sam peered at it with narrowed eyes before draining his drink in three long pulls, then handed Bobby the cup back and asked, “It’s holy water, right?”.

Sam’s still only fourteen, and not fourteen the way that Dean was fourteen. He ain’t equipped to deal with John’s messes, especially not without Dean there. John’s been sending that boy off solo more and more since he was legal to drive himself home, and a few times before that with instructions to hitch anyplace he couldn’t get to on foot.

(That’d about sent Bobby though the roof when he’d found out; that Dean was off digging up graves and exorcising spirits with no backup, no wheels, and no way to get in touch if he needed help).

Still, he might hate John’s guts, but that don’t mean he wants to see the man dead.

“Is your daddy hurt real bad, Sam?”

(He’d better be, or Bobby’s gonna wring the stupid, reckless sumbitch’s neck.)

“What? Bobby, no – I don’t,” a watery scoff, and the next words warble down the line: “I don’t even know where my dad is right now, Bobby. We're down near Table Lake, but he could be in Manitoba for all I know. I called him and called him and left, like, a thousand messages, but he won’t pick up, and Dean keeps blacking out on me and he won’t quit fucking bleeding.”

It’s more than just Harry, it’s an ensemble.

Amazon Studios is moving forward with an awards push for director Michael Grandage’s romantic drama “My Policeman,” despite mixed reviews out of the Toronto Film Festival, where it received an ensemble tribute. Variety has learned exclusively that Amazon will be submitting the entire cast, which includes music superstar Harry Styles and Emmy nominee Emma Corrin, all in the supporting categories for Oscar consideration.

Going between younger and older versions of the three main characters over a 40-year span, the British drama tells the story of Tom (Styles and Linus Roache), Marion (Corrin and Gina McKee) and Patrick (David Dawson and Rupert Everett) and how events from their past affect their future when reunited.

While awards strategists tend to commit “category fraud,” the act of submitting a lead performance in supporting categories for an easier pathway to a nom or win, this is not the case for “My Policeman.” Just like Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight” (2016), the film features lead characters, not lead actors.

The pathway for noms will rely on support from the international demographics of the Academy, in particular the British voting block. BAFTA recognition will be essential to keep the discussion alive.

Singers-turned-actors have had an inconsistent road to the Academy Awards. While there are success stories such as Cher (“Moonstruck”) and Jennifer Hudson (“Dreamgirls”), Academy voters sometimes tend to make actors prove themselves before recognizing them for their achievements. As Tom, a closeted gay police officer, Styles conveys the internalizing conflict effectively, and if he decides to campaign and make a play for his first Oscar nomination, it will have to begin with Amazon choosing to submit him for supporting actor attention — which is not category fraud.

Corrin is an outstanding actor, showcasing the pain and torment of a woman feeling betrayed by her lover. With another role this year in Netflix’s “Lady Chatterley’s Lover,” this becomes Corrin’s best vehicle for recognition after breaking out with an Emmy nom for “The Crown.”

Adapted from the book by Bethan Roberts, the film is written by Ron Nyswaner, a former Oscar nominee for “Philadelphia” (1993). As one of the contenders for Amazon, alongside the international submission “Argentina, 1985” and “Nanny,” the film could find traction for production design (from “The Imitation Game” Oscar nominee Maria Djurkovic), costumes (from Emmy winner Annie Symons) and original score (from “Gravity” Oscar winner Steven Price).
