A drizzly 2.5 miles to prevent another run drought. This one felt better than the last, so I think I’m trending in the right direction.

I reflected on this time last winter when was halfway through mailing it in for the late fall/winter months while perfectly healthy. This year has been more active for me despite haggling with nagging pain. I owe a large part of that to the community on here. Thank y’all!!

10 miles for this Saturday AM long run. I knew it had been a minute since I’ve ran double digits, so I had to look. First time since June 2017😬 I knew it had been a while, but definitely wasn’t thinking seven years.

As for the run, it was a pretty relaxing pace up til mile 9. After that point it was more mind over matter. Always feel good to push through to accomplish what you set out to do.

LE PEDÍ A MIS ESTUDIANTES QUE DIBUJARAN UN MONSTRUO.

Soy un profesor sustituto de segundo grado, y me gusta mucho mi trabajo; aunque planeo trabajar en investigación de psicología infantil en el futuro. Por esa razón, me gusta darles a los niños asignaciones que me permitirán echar un vistazo a sus mentes, en cómo interpretan el mundo y cuánto entienden de lo que los rodea.

Ayer, traje todo tipo de utensilios de arte a la clase, lo cual los emocionó. Fue difícil hacer que no dibujaran y pintaran de inmediato en los papeles frente a ellos, pero me las ingenié para calmarlos lo suficiente y explicarles el ejercicio.

«Quiero que dibujen un monstruo —indiqué—. Pueden usar cualquier material que deseen, pero tienen que asegurarse de colocar todo lo que usaron en donde lo encontraron cuando hayan terminado».

Lo estaban pasando de lo mejor, y eso significa que se tomaron un buen tiempo para finalizar. Tenía la esperanza de pedirles que presentaran sus obras de arte al final de la clase, pero no hubo tiempo, así que solo les dije que colocaran sus trabajos en mi escritorio antes de salir. No tuve la oportunidad de observar sus dibujos hasta que llegué a casa. Estaba muy feliz de ver lo creativos que eran, y cómo ciertas obras eran muy impresiones artísticamente para la edad de los niños. Algunos pintaron monstruos de Monsters Inc.; otros dibujaron los vampiros típicos, al monstruo de Frankenstein y hombres lobo. Algunos eran monstruos mascota adorables. Otros eran graciosos. Un puñado de los niños dibujaron cosas más espeluznantes, como a Slenderman, The Babadook y el demonio de Insidious. Esos eran un tanto más preocupantes, y los marqué para hablar con los padres acerca del tipo de películas y videojuegos que le estaban permitiendo ver y jugar a sus hijos.

Pero solo uno de los dibujos fue tan aterrador que hizo que mi corazón diera un vuelco y me provocara escalofríos. Era el dibujo de un hombre ordinario cargando un portafolio y vistiendo con una corbata. A un lado del hombre, había una palabra escrita en rojo: Papá.
