omfg i love it when supernatural gets silly jared padalecki is SO SO good at being sassy and smug and jensen ackles is SO good at goofy face expressions and body movement theyre such a good comedy duo... for whole episodes i prefer that its serious and soapy and plotty but the short funny bits out of nowhere like sam and dean playing rock paper scissors are SO funny

Jonas Spahr is the Prime Consector and he does have a lot of genuine power and responsibility (an accountability within that) but this man gets rank pulled on him left and right by people comically lower in the hierarchy and it showcases just how boxed in he is. Imelda is an ordinary notary, but she blatantly outmaneuvers him more than once and her threats have real teeth - she does know better than him how the back end of the Valor system works. Never mess with a zealous accountant. In 2x17 it gets even funnier because the Prime Consector can't even flex on Backpack, the unnamed teletheric media assistant, when he wants her to stop recording in the elevator and she doesn't because she (implied) has to keep recording by order of the Trust powers that be. When she stops recording a minute later, it's clearly a choice she is making of her own volition, and not because he asked. He wonders in that episode who is really in charge because it isn't him, and he's right to! In his crisis of self he's having, he is timidly starting to put just his little tippy toe over the edge of the box he's in and it is promptly smacked every time by the structures of the Trust. He's in charge as much as he's allowed to be.
