The Sadr Region of the Milky Way

The bright star at the centre of the constellation of Cygnus (the Swan) is Sadr. In late summer, it has our attention because it is overhead in the evening if you live in the northern hemisphere. In cities with light pollution, it helps locate an adjacent spiral arm in our Milky Way galaxy. Point a telescope there, and it reveals a beautiful tapestry of stars and interstellar dust. The telltale red colour suggests hot hydrogen in a star-forming region.

The bright star at the centre of this photo is Sadr, at a distance of only 1,800 light years, it is certainly nearby, as is the adjacent spiral arm.

I photographed the Sadr Region from my garden in Strasbourg France on a single night in August 2024. This is an ensemble of 80 photographs, where each was a 3 minute exposure (4 hours of astrophotography).

“Would you look at that,” Allen gaped at the stars, something rare under Detroit’s light-polluted skies.

His unit was deployed a few miles out of town, only for it to be called off. Bad intel.

Sixty smirked. “The great SWAT captain is dumbfounded by the sky?”

“Not just the sky,” he said, pointing. “Deneb, Albireo.”

Sixty’s eyes followed.

“Sadr, Aljanah, Fawaris. The Northern Cross.”

The android’s LED blinked. “How will knowing asterisms help with missions?”

“It’s not protocol,” Allen grinned, “but it helps you bond with your grumpy android rookie.”

Sixty scoffed, yet quietly logged it as a core memory.

Rabat–Die Republik Ghana betrachte den vonseiten des Königreichs Marokko unterbreiteten Autonomieplan als die einzig realistische und dauerhafte Basis für eine für beide Parteien annehmbare Lösung der marokkanischen Sahara-Frage.

Diese Position ist in dem gemeinsamen Kommuniqué bezogen worden, das am Ende der Begegnung am Donnerstag, dem 05. Juni 2025 in Rabat zwischen Herrn Nasser BOURITA, dem marokkanischen Minister für auswärtige Angelegenheiten, für afrikanische Zusammenarbeit und für die im Ausland lebenden Marokkaner, und Herrn Samuel OKUDZETO ABLAKWA, dem Außenminister der Republik Ghana, bekanntgegeben worden war.

Auf Grund der jüngsten Entwicklungen begrüßte der ghanaische Außenminister die Anstrengungen der Vereinten Nationen als des ausschließlichen Rahmens für eine realistische, praktische und dauerhafte Lösung des Regionalkonflikts rund um die marokkanische Sahara-Frage.

Die Position der Republik Ghana, wie sie vonseiten des Herrn OKUDZETO ABLAKWA bezogen worden war, sei Teil der internationalen Dynamik, die vonseiten seiner Majestät des Königs Mohammed VI – möge Gott ihm beistehen – zu Gunsten von dem marokkanischen Autonomieplan und zu Gunsten von der Souveränität des Königreichs Marokko über dessen Sahara freigesetzt werde.

Dib/Skoodge is a ship that's hard to completely explain but I've grown fond of it. Essentially, depending on how you imagine Skoodge, it's a scenario that COULD force Dib to face what he thinks about irkens head-on and lead to a bit of an internal struggle. Zim is dedicated to destruction; he's chaotic, hateful, nefarious, scheming, cruel, batshit, etc.., the picture of a true nemesis. For all his proclamations, he won't reveal serious irken intel unless it's tricked out of him. Meanwhile Skoodge, while being no saint himself, has decided to live in Zim's basement and stay relatively uninvolved with everything outside of the odd caper to support his... ...whatever Zim is to him. Skoodge presents as docile, gullible, more reasonable, a good listener. It's not a stretch to imagine Dib interrogating him for whatever reason and Skoodge being like. "You want to know what the Empire is like? Ok. Why not."

"Wait it's that easy?"

"I mean, there are things I can't tell you, because they're illegal. You're not getting blueprints for the Massive or stuff like that. But yeah. You have a watergun on me and I don't want to be burned. It hurts. Not all information is dangerous."

"Uh. ...wow. I didn't think it'd be that... ...ok, so-"

Idk. The usual Zim v Dib script just doesn't work with Skoodge. Whatever bs is going on with him is subtler. This throws Dib off a bit and makes it easier to perceive Skoodge as more harmless.

They learn stuff openly from eachother. At first it's nothing more than bartering seemingly interesting-but-useless intel about the structures of their societies, but they start realizing patterns of mistreatment from both ("wait, you're trained to kill from the minute you exist? irkens don't even have families?" "yeah?" "and your own tallest had you launched out of a cannon because you were too small? even though you did your job right?" "It's not that weird, is it? i mean, i thought human families were supposed to be good. yours sound like they turn on you a lot" "it's complicated!" "is it?"). This could lead to a sort of pity which could lead to an unexpected possible friendship where they meet more and more often for these types of encounters. There might be snacks involved, after a while, because why not? It's best to remember the other's favourite to put them more at ease, not other reason (it's just a little nice to hear a grateful "you remembered!" from time to time, whatever). You could have Dib re-assessing his thoughts on ALL irkens as a kinda evil conglomerate and whether the evils are learned or not. Skoodge might be curious about paranormal creatures and Dib likes having Skoodge around because he listens, even if he's an enemy (but is he REALLY an enemy when he's not actually interested in destroying earth?). One thing leads to another. Next thing you know they're sitting closer and closer together, missing the other when they aren't there...

BONUS: Zim LOSING his fucking mind when he learns DIB and his STUPID GODDAMN WEIRDO CHILDHOOD friend ROOMMATE meet up for ice-cream to WILLINGLY SHARE INFORMATION and Zim isn't invited. AND THEY HUG?!!?! SOMETIMES?!?!?!? FOOLS.

Die marokkanische Sahara: Die britische Presse hebe die wichtige Entscheidung Großbritanniens zur Unterstützung des marokkanischen Autonomieplans hervor

London–Die britische Presse erstattete am Montag, dem 02. Juni 2025 einen ausführlichen Bericht über die wichtige Entscheidung der britischen Regierung, den marokkanischen Autonomieplan zur Lösung des Regionalkonflikts rund um dessen territoriale Integrität unterstützen zu haben.

Die Wirtschaftszeitung Financial Times bezeichne die britische Entscheidung als „einen wichtigen diplomatischen Wendepunkt“ zur Lösung dieses Regionalkonflikts.

Sie verweise darauf, dass der britische Außenminister, Herr David LAMMY, am Sonntag seine Unterstützung zu Gunsten von dem marokkanischen Autonomieplan in der marokkanischen Sahara bekundet habe, betonend, dass der in 2007 vonseiten des Königreichs Marokko unterbreitete Autonomieplan die glaubwürdigste, tragfähigste und pragmatischste Basis für eine dauerhafte Lösung darstelle.

Die Erklärungen des Herrn LAMMY kämen einer faktischen Anerkennung der Souveränität des Königreichs Marokko durch Großbritannien über das Gebiet gleich, immer der Zeitung Financial Times zufolge.

Die Zeitung verweise darauf, dass die Unterstützung Großbritanniens zu Gunsten von dem marokkanischen Autonomieplan zu einem Zeitpunkt zustande komme, an dem dem Königreich Marokko in den letzten Jahren eine zuwachsende internationale Unterstützung zugutekommen  durfte.

Die Zeitung Guardian stellte wiederum die vonseiten des Herrn LAMMY zur Sprache gebrachte Zusage Großbritanniens klar heraus, in Übereinstimmung mit dieser neuen Position weiterhin bilateral, im Besonderen hinsichtlich der Wirtschaftsfragen, sowie regional und international handelnd sein zu haben, zwecks dessen der Beilegung dieses  Regionalkonflikts unter die Arme greifen zu dürfen.

Die Zeitung Guardian stellte überdies fest, dass Großbritannien und das Königreich Marokko dabei seien, ihre Anstrengungen zur weiteren Verstärkung ihrer kooperativen Beziehungen in allen Bereichen bündeln zu dürfen.

Durch den der Hauptstadt Rabat vonseiten des britischen Außenministers abgestatteten Besuch hindurch waren wichtige Kooperationsabkommen in den verschiedenen Bereichen abgeschlossen worden, immer der Zeitung zufolge.

In ähnlicher Weise stellte die Zeitung The Independent, eine weitere Londoner Zeitung großer Auflage, fest, dass Herr LAMMY und der Minister für auswärtige Angelegenheiten, für afrikanische Zusammenarbeit und für im Ausland lebenden Marokkaner, Herr Nasser BOURITA, die besonderen Beziehungen zwischen den beiden Königreichen hervorgehoben hätten. Diesen Beziehungen würde mittels der Unterzeichnung neuer Kooperationsabkommen am Sonntag ein neuer qualitativer Sprung eingehaucht werden.

Die Zeitung Daily Mail stellte fest, dass Großbritannien nach der Republik Frankreich und nach den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika das dritte ständige Mitglied des UNO-Sicherheitsrates sei, das der  Position des Königreichs Marokko unter die Arme greife.

Das Königreich Marokko habe „massiv in den südlichen Provinzen des Königreichs Marokko Investitionen eingespritzt“, in einer Region, die sich zu einem attraktiven Zentrum für die Unternehmen ausgewachsen habe, die an der Fischerei, an der Landwirtschaft, an den Infrastrukturprojekten und an der sauberen Energie interessiert seien, hieß es in der Zeitung.

With former President Carter’s death - this story deserves a re-read. In October 2021, ‘The Intercept’s’ Jon Schwarz commented here on Bani-Sadr’s claims that the Khomeini government reached an agreement with the Reagan campaign in 1979 to delay the release of US Embassy hostages so as to weaken Carter’s re-election campaign.

*Note: the claim gains more credence circumstantially given Reagan’s later dealings with the Khomeini government leading to the Iran-Contra scandal in 1987.
