a very flat, small town map with a nice coastline!

I spent my formative years - ages 8 through 18 - in a place called Spring Hill, Florida. At that time it was just a "place" ...not yet incorporated into a town - still with dirt roads if you veered too far off from the main boulevard. It had one school, one small grocery, and one gas station with a convenience store - oh, thank Heaven! The whole development was designed as a "retirement" community, meant to entice New Yorkers to buy their Florida-dream-opportunity sight unseen, and move down to the land of eternal sunshine. (And many did!)

In my angsty teenage years I was fond of calling it 'Sprung Hell' - with a HUGE eyeroll. 😩 I couldn't wait to move out and go off to Uni, some place far, far away.

Pontavène terrain map

I've been wanting to start a new custom hood for a while now and finally got around to making my very first SC4 terrain!

It's a medium sized map vaguely inspired by the French Alps with a river fork separating the town center from the residential area. I kept most of it very flat for easy lot placement and building and after many painful attempts managed to fit in a small riverside area where you can place a couple of beach lots. I wanted it to have mountains, a river, and be mostly flat to boot, and decided to share in case anyone was looking for a similar thing :)

I love this map. I couldn't decide if I wanted to put a castle in the middle (i ended up just placing random buildings because i'm gonna go back and make an entire town to play LMAO but not right now) or if i wanted to put a large cemetery. There's a lot one could do with the space!

Sedona with added roads and a lake.

Made for my game to enlarge widespot. Replaced the terrain with Hoodreplacer.

In case someone has use for it. I only removed the mountain in middle, added lake instead and few roads. Rest of the map is not touched at all.

ONLY the sc4 file, no preview pics.

Lake is bit picky with beachlots, but at least lets place some..

But if you tweak it just a little with ingame terraintools, it fits many :)

i really want to get back to building and decorating again but.... first i have to try to gather the strength and patience to open sc4 (and find all the tutorials again)..... to make the terrain i need for the modern au bss-inspired hood i want to plop the blorbos into...... 😑

Old Town!

Good evening! tonight I bring to you my version Old Town in the Sims 2. The SC4 Terrain is @philosimy 's found here. There are a few properties I kept from New Pleasantview like some of the farmhouses because I just liked the way they turned out. There are 2 versions of course, One with families and one without. There is also a property listing for this one too. In the folder there is also a .reia file in there. I didn't like it because it's kind of weird that the preview moves but I can't get the actual map to do the flyover unless I rename it to Pleasantview. (If someone ever finds out where the link between the town name and the fly over is I would be sooo soo soo happy because that just kills me that I can't make it do that with the Old Town name.)

The families in the version with the families were made by @tvickiesims and can be found here. I truly hope you guys like this and it brings you back to the bygone days of the sims 1 when you visit the properties.

When @philosimy put this map together they thought about everything. The addresses from all the packs were included in the map on empty lots. I have re-created many of those properties along with remodeling or recreating some that I saw from other creators, and I have credited them in the MLS listing in addition to this post and this one. Currently the properties covered the Sim Circle properties, the Old Town properties, Downtown properties and the Vacation properties. I do plan to make the Magic Town properties and the Studio Town properties too, but as add-ons. I am now going to take a break from creating things this large for a little while I will be back with more in the future, but this is what I have the strength for, for now. I still have one more version of New Pleasantview where there is a change in the storyline, but I am going to table that for now. I hope you enjoy! Here are the family pictures. Note, they may look different in your game as I have default replacement skins by @microscotch & @kestrelteens and eyes from @episims .

Moonstone River Lake 🌙🪨🏞️

I know I mentioned in my last two posts that my custom 'hood would be called Moonstone River, but... I've had a change of heart. And by "change of heart," I mean that the SC4 terrain I was using turned out to be way too big. After spending three days on my first build (I'm still such a noob at building in The Sims 2 😭), I looked around and felt completely overwhelmed by how much space was left to fill.

On the bright side, I ended up going down a rabbit hole of ⋆°𐙚₊ hood deco ₊°⋆ while searching for ways to improve my map from lot view. That’s when I stumbled across a new SC4 terrain that felt absolutely perfect! It was smaller and fit my vision so much better, so... I scrapped my original suburban/downtown idea and decided to go in a completely different direction. Instead, I’m recreating the rural, cottagecore vibe of where I grew up—and honestly, I’m so excited and inspired by this shift!

Since Sunday, I’ve been decorating the neighbourhood (RIP my sanity after placing so many pine trees 🌲). I’m in love with how it’s turning out so far.

[4t2] Sixam (Skybox & Ocean Floor)

Alright, after a long hiatus I'm finally back with an update! ^^

Remember the 4t2 sixam skybox I was working last year... but wasn't quite happy about it being "high" in the sky... with all those objects being too gigantic? Well I tried to fix it, but still tried to keep the original TS4 vibe... so yeah, let me know what you think!

Is there something you'd change as well? I'd love to have some feedback on that.

By the way, I also made a matching SC4 map for Sixam, to match the rocky vibe TS4 Sixam has. I think it's closest I could get with those annoying SC4 sculpting tool, lol.

Update!!!

I just came across early images of how Sixam originally looked like. For some reason EA decided to change Sixam and make it more "matt" at some point in an update.

I decided to add back the highlights as I think it looks much cooler and gives more of a out-of-this-world feeling. I've also managed to fix the planet's shape to be more spherical, yayy!! Below you can see Sixam before and after the glow up. ^^

To be honest, I don't know why EA changed Sixam in the first place? As I've had it much brighter in memory as well! But didn't think much of it when I first made this skybox out of the screenshots from my game.

hi! tbh i'm just stopping by because i wanna be your friend :3 i'm in love with your custom hood! btw, what is the map for hazelnut? i'm trying to find a custom hood map, and i've moved my town several times already but none of the terrains fits yet. it's either too big/overwhelming or too small. i need recommendations! :3

Thank you so much for all of your sweetness (and I would love to be friends)! Waaah, I understand the struggle. Hazelnut has been scooched and nudged since late 2022 — early 2023, and looks nothing like how it did fresh out of the tin.

Hazelnut's map is Pippanstad by @nimitwinklesims.

I'd also recommend these two by the same creator! I use Arianstad for another custom 'hood called Llama Springs (I haven't posted about it yet bwahah).

Some bits and bobs about Hazelnut:

• A good chunk of the roads I've added are decorative, and I use lot adjuster to scooch lots into place on those roads. I could've fiddled around in SC4 (Sim City 4) to actually add them, but I didn't feel like it after a while. I did use SC4 to add open-ended roads that make things like driveways and alleys look nicer! Here's a good guide that goes into detail on how to use SC4: 🪴

• I use the "modifyneighborhoodterrain on" cheat to flatten, raise, and smooth where I need to. It makes just about anything (including expanding) possible when paired with lot adjuster!

• I wasn't satisfied with what I was finding either because nothing fit quite how I wanted it to, but hopefully with these tools, you can tweak any map to your liking!

Anyone able to help with a very small SC4 task? 🫣

(I just posted this in The Sims 2 Community tab, but thought I should post it on main as well... just incase 😅)

This might be a long shot, but I was hoping someone (with SC4 installed) might be able to spare a few minutes to help me with a really small amendment to a map.

I have SC4 myself, but unfortunately there's a known bug where when extracting edited SC4 files on Mac, all roads get erased when it gets loaded up again in TS2.

All I'm trying to do is connect two roads on this edited Pleasantview Beach map (the version 2 one). The image below shows which two roads I'm trying to connect (in the image I've already connected them):

Would anyone potentially be able to load the above Pleasantview Beach 2.0 map by KalisaSims, connect these two roads for me as above, and send me the SC4 file?

I know this all sounds a bit ridiculous. I'm just out of options at this point 😅 I would be eternally grateful!

I lost the OG Sc4 file - but I could make a neighborhood based on the version I have in game now (Road placements might be slightly different, I'm not 100% sure!)

Hi! Sure, it's probably a good idea to upload it to have a backup for myself, too.

A disclaimer that this map isn't very polished since I've just done what I needed for Foxfire. It's not an exact copy of what I have in my game as I've modified the terrain a bit further with in-game cheats but hopefully, it's useful enough for you.

The sand bits probably look better if you haven't edited them from the game files like I have.

I like this map a lot because I like that it connects seemingly to somewhere else - perfect for connecting other neighborhoods!

I always add little solitary lots to my maps, like the one in the bottom image, for those of you who are like me and want to have isolated characters or town founders! I imagine maybe a mad scientist lives there, or a large family that wants to be left alone, or the founders of this small town who look down upon the citizens below.

Make sure to put it in your sc4 terrains folder! ✨

I FOUND MY NOTEBOOK FOR ROSE SPRINGS TOO!! IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR IT FOR LIKE A YEAR AND A HALF its got my rotation order in and little maps with all the streetnames and a page for each family im so delighted!!! i really will be going back to playing my custom hood!!!

since turning off hood decorations and neighbours (and only turning them on for screenshots) ive not had any issues w/ pink soup for the past few days... usually if i dont get pink soup at first i get it after the 3rd/4th lot i go into but the past two days ive been in and out of So many lots...
