✨ A small sims 2 map :3
I like this map a lot because I like that it connects seemingly to somewhere else - perfect for connecting other neighborhoods!
I always add little solitary lots to my maps, like the one in the bottom image, for those of you who are like me and want to have isolated characters or town founders! I imagine maybe a mad scientist lives there, or a large family that wants to be left alone, or the founders of this small town who look down upon the citizens below.
Make sure to put it in your sc4 terrains folder! ✨

here's a set of conversions/recolours/creations over the last month or so, swatches as always will be under the cut. u can open the img in a new tab and zoom in to see them as it is a fairly large img
1 - Sims4Life lantern. A merged file, I've never solo'd making a lamp before so any problems let me know! Found in Ceiling Lights. It's quite high poly at 3.8k but textures remain 512px. (wont show swatch below as they're all on display there) - DOWNLOAD
2 - NICKNAME's coca cola clock. Single package, doesn't have animated hands unfortunately. Found in Small Electronics. 252 polys, 512px texture. - DOWNLOAD
3 - Wrenmie's Rugs 4t2. UPDATE 15TH DEC 2024 MESHES HAVE BEEN FIXED! THEY ALL SHOW IN RUGS NOW Includes both the neutral and green ones so far. I also recoloured the checkered swatch from the neutral set in Poppet's Lonesome palette. On meshes by Nengi65, included. 512px textures. - DOWNLOAD
4 - Pamphlets by Simdertalia. Includes vacation and aquarium recolours, 182 polys. 512px textures. Found in Sculptures. - VACATION / AQUARIUM
5 - Cushionz. I made my own addons for these pillows by MysticRain, I just made the existing pillows more square rather than stretched/rectangular. Was something that could not have been fixed by usual remapping, apparently. 40 swatches, 256px textures and 100-200 polys for the meshes. Don't even ask what the textures are, I just know we need some cushions that are unusual and defo from Redbubble. Found in Sculptures - DOWNLOAD
6 - iyaS Fishing Rod wall deco - I have plans to recreate Coral Island in TS2 at some point and these were a must for the beach shack. Even put a lil detail on the two recolours with Jim and Sunny's name on them respectively. 919 polys, 512 x 1024px texture. Found in Sculptures. - DOWNLOAD
7 - Severinka Tao Vase - Something of course I needed for Jim's house that I am building with great pain and suffering atm. The texture is so pretty even at 512px omg! Too bad it is 2.2k polys. Although I kinda get why (the animal detail on the neck of the vase). I blended the normal map with the texture for extra oomph. Found in Sculptures - DOWNLOAD
8 - Records On The Wall - Here's some Vinyl textures I made and put on Aikea-Guinea's half-height wall mesh. Includes my brand new fresh addons I've made for the mesh too, which I will showcase better with a later CC I have that didn't make the cut here. The addons are just versions sized down of the original in Medium, Small and Xtra Small. I also tweaked the mapping a tiny bit so that the mesh displays the texture true to the aspect ratio without having to stretch it. 512 px textures, around 20 swatches for you to use. - DOWNLOAD

I've recolored every bed that EA has created in a pack or expansion that:
1) already had wood recolors
2) didn't have wood recolors, but I felt that wood recolors suited them

For the colors: I am using Dynamite, Depth Charge, Shrapnel, Safety Fuse and Time Bomb by @pooklet, and Nesert and Honey by Io aka @serabiet.
Please check out the Add-On's I've recommended! They are meshes made by community members that will use these textures too. Or, they are bits of CC that go along with these nicely!

notes: oh I really have a love/hate relationship with this one. It has a good Comfort score and looks semi-ordinary. But its original textures and mapping are :/ The fabric headboard comes in (I hope) complimentary, muted colors.

notes: how does it feel to be a gorgeous bed mesh? I'll bet it feels...Hellacious.

TS2 palla and pallium: texture FIX, overhead palla
super tiny post with tiny cc updates, I have very little energy as of late.
I figured out what I didn't like about the palla (other than the obvious clipping, sorry, it wasn't fixed). it's the wrong side not being properly mapped. shame on me for making it solid color. swatches were updated as well: tiny bit of texture, and small changes to the vibrancy. pallium suffered from the same problems.

long technicalities post
I just had to change some things before starting the new "year" (which amounts to approximately 8 human years in my game).
first of all, MODS I found myself in desperate need of:
antibodies after a sickness
get dressed autonomously
mini residential and community lots
also forgot to link the Stolen by Fairies mod. I thought about making my own multi-PT with gods instead of fairies/elves, but antiquity will pass while alien elves are timeless.
now that my sims won't be permanently sick (as realistic as it is - though I will make it worse in other ways), won't be prancing around in underwear in front of their servants, and I can finally have a proper 1x1 cheap taberna instead of ending up with lots of unused space and disrupting the look of the city part of the map...
ROS
the modified ROS scheduler doesn't do it for me. it's amazing, but it's linked to days of the week, and it tends to land on the same events a lot. I also got tired of the money events, though it was my fault for leaving them there. and all in all, even modified, it's not historical enough for me.
as a VERY cool base for my own ROS list I ended up using @12raben's random event list. they also have some useful mods in the beginning of the post. I haven't changed that much. I made some events less gendered, deleted a few, and made some others more reflective of my own situation with the ToT challenge. that said, right now it is tailored to the Roman era - I'll be stuck in it for two more generations, I think, and I don't mind. I'm thrilled about the party events, because I hate bothering with parties in my own game and I need something to MAKE me throw one. I also added two events for visiting the community lots - because I hate that too.
Health System
another part of it is the health system. for this idea, I have to thank @guessimate and this post (also the author of the Warwickshire Challenge - this, I think?). I like micromanaging in small amounts, so my version is somewhere in between. I used fewer age groups, made the starting Health Score reflective of the parents' Total Health Score (unless for a new sim), tweaked the Random Health Rolls and Modifiers. "fat" in ts2 is not really that fat (not a bad thing either, especially in those times), so I made being unfit less punishing and being fit more rewarding instead. Flu in ts2 is caught from roaches, it kind of resembles dysentery (or similar) in my opinion, so I made it more punishing. there was no mention of Pneumonia, but I feel like getting to this stage should be more severe. Food poisoning is rare enough, so it's also more punishing.
regarding the Midwife modifier: if there are multiple Vestal Virgins, I will make it so one of them will have to take on a Medicine career, so that I even have a midwife.
on the basis of THS, I divide my sims into four groups: Sickly, Weak, Average, Healthy. the Sickly get a whole special treatment, adapted from The Sick Child ROS in 12Raben's post. the health category also affects the outcomes of some events - I will have to test it, of course, to see if it's viable.
the main reason for adopting this combination (ROS + health system) is that predestined deaths at a certain age don't do it for me, either. I don't like coming up with the reason for someone's death unless it's obvious. this way, health will be dealt with its own module, and random accidents with their own.

Anyone able to help with a very small SC4 task? 🫣
(I just posted this in The Sims 2 Community tab, but thought I should post it on main as well... just incase 😅)
This might be a long shot, but I was hoping someone (with SC4 installed) might be able to spare a few minutes to help me with a really small amendment to a map.
I have SC4 myself, but unfortunately there's a known bug where when extracting edited SC4 files on Mac, all roads get erased when it gets loaded up again in TS2.
All I'm trying to do is connect two roads on this edited Pleasantview Beach map (the version 2 one). The image below shows which two roads I'm trying to connect (in the image I've already connected them):

Would anyone potentially be able to load the above Pleasantview Beach 2.0 map by KalisaSims, connect these two roads for me as above, and send me the SC4 file?
I know this all sounds a bit ridiculous. I'm just out of options at this point 😅 I would be eternally grateful!

This one I could not find any photos online of the real life version and though I have heard it referenced so many times I can't recall actually seeing it when watching the series. It's an odd one as it was once a pancake place but then they owner got bored and it became like rotating world cuisine. I decided to make it a small one with somewhat of a sweet focus and used the flapjack stall for this so, kinda following the "world cuisine" given it's cuisine from one of the holiday destinations! Haha!

Very small differences between ts2 ultimate collection and ts2 super collection
Note: this is NOT meant to bash either of the versions or users; I just want to point out small differences I noticed. (also, this list is likely incomplete)
- Ts2 sc does NOT include: teenAP, free time EP, mansion and gardenAP, apt lifeEP, ikeaAP, h&mAP, celebrationsAP, kitchen and bathAP
- these versions of when you click on the sims 2 icon to play the game; one when the computer has an internet connection, the other without one (as for 2023)

- instead of the plumbob being used as a credit icon, it's (still) the maxis logo. And the "share on thesims2.com" icon and other things that link to the website are greyed out and not clickable. Other icons that would direct to the website, are gone too.

- in ts2 uc sometimes there's a text in the corner that says "v1." followed by a bunch of numbers. Ts2 sc doesnt have this.
- in the tutorial gameplay part 2 (UC), Jane Sim has a burnt meal memory with the title: "burned Tutorial Jane Sim". In SC, this has been changed to "burned Mac and Cheese".

- SC still gets general bug fixes (last one in 2021) but also price increases; it was €30 in 2022 in the app store, in 2023 it is €35.
- in TS2 SC, in the middle of game play, relationships with sims that are not part of the household can disappear from the relationship panel. However, reloading the household fixes this issue

Tutorial/Explanation - Omg why my some vertices on my morphs are going crazy?! 💀
So for the past few weeks I've encountered this problem with a mesh I am converting, and instead of redoing everything I decided to dig into the problem, and wanted to share with you guys. Thanks to this post on MTS and simmer22 (THANK YOU) I was able to find out.
I'm sure many new creators for TS2 have encounted this problem:

And after close inspection somehow the vertices seemed to go oposite directions, even though after triple checking the bone weights were perfectly fine.

Why is it happening? it's more "simple" than you think and I'm gonna explain why. In your mesh each vertex is assigned a number, for example "vertex n°1, vertex n°2, etc." has I'm showing in the image bellow. How do you know the number of them? You go to Vertex > "Extended manual Edit" and it will show you all the information of each vertex (depending on what you select, it can show you their position, the position of them in the UV map, normals, bones, but we are just gonna focus on the vertex number which is the the ones I highlighted)

So when you duplicate your mesh to create your morphs, the vertices numbers on your morphs will have the exact same matching numbers, for example on the image bellow you can see the top front vertices from the normal morph and the fat morph have the exact same number (same happens with the pregnant morph has well)

And what this number does is when the fat morph is applied to a sim it basically says "oh I need to run to my partner location!" , so for example the vertex n°1 from the normal morph will move to the location of the vertex n°1 from the fat morph (I hope that makes sense haha) And what happens if they don't match? Exactly what you saw in the frist image, since they don't match they travel oposite directions or whenever the other matching number vertex is located, in my example the matching vertices are on oposite sides so when you test the mesh on a "fat" body you see the bug effect.

"How do I fix their numbers? can I just edit it in the Extended Manual??" It's not possible.. unfortunatly you will have to duplicate again the mesh and redo all the morphs (or just one of them, if only one is bugging) How can you prevent that from happening? NEVER edit your morphs!! (the only safe thing you can edit in your morphs is the UV map, since the fat and preg morph stretch a bit and sometimes you want to adjust the texture) but if you edit the morph merging vertices, etc, you can change accidentaly it's assigned number and you will have to redo everything.. 😐
I hope I helped anyone who faced this problem and didn't know the problem, do take note I am no expert and I'm still learning everyday has well. 😊
Small note: Don't forget to weld together your mesh before making the morphs! This will get rid of any extra vertices in the same position (it's like the merge by distance from Blender)

Hi! As a sims 2 and sdv fan I was so happy to play with your hood when it was released. And nowadays I'm making a neighborhood myself and I was wondering, how did you make your small rivers look so good? I'm finding it really hard to give them organic edges because I'm finding the tools in sc4 and ts2 to not be very precise, and when I try to pull a vertex up or down slightly, it goes WAY up or WAY down. I would appreciate if you have any tips to give! Thank you!
Hi, glad you enjoyed playing the neighborhood! Editing the terrain was a very tedious process for me and took a lot of trial and error. First of all, I did pretty much all the terrain modifications directly within TS2. The tools in SC4 are way too inaccurate, plus the map there is mirrored and scaled.
For finetuning the elevation, I would recommend against holding the keys for raising/lowering, but instead to change the terrain one level at a time with separate button clicks.
To get the desired height, it can also be useful to not directly edit a certain vertex, but rather its neighboring vertices. When making rivers, for example, I would often lower some vertices in the middle of the river to "carve out" the riverbank to look more how I wanted it to be. You won't be able to tell from above that the river is super deep in the middle, so that's not an issue.
When you drag and select multiple vertices, there is also a key to "smooth" or "even out" all the vertices in the selection, bringing them all gradually closer to the average elevation and creating a more natural look. On my keyboard (German), this is done with the "P" key, but it might be something different on yours.
I also highly recommend the tutorial videos on The Jessa Channel on YouTube, which I found super helpful when learning how to make custom hoods. Hope some of these tips can be of use for you :)

Today's projects for my current California inspired cc free sets. I keep waxing on loading ts2 or ts3 today though too so we'll see if I actually poke at em too much. I have family stuff going on as well so my time is a tad limited.
I moved Rio to a new save file since I've decided where she's going to live after she graduates. The bad news on that is the Highland map is on hold. The good news is I'm going to finish the rest of the lots for Kokomo. It's pretty much all residential work, though I was considering making a small fire station. Depends on if I can make one that fits in a 20x20 space. I like having a fire station.
I also have building to do in my ts2 save. I've finished a couple lots there and should probably upload them. I have a town hall lot, an art shop, and a couple residentials there I've been working on.

Just a small proof of concept I tested last night, boats! Or in this case that good old box house "boatified". Functional lots that sit right on top of the water. I can assure you the bottom floor is in fact touching the water. It's hard to tell because unfortunately there's no reflections for this kind of setup. No ground or roads to be seen anywhere near also.
... At least until you zoom way out, then you start seeing all the trickery behind the lot. Welp, it is what it is.

But I'm sure there's still a lot to improve there. Maybe I'll be able to sink the bottom ground even deeper so it doesn't look like that. This is still very early testing. We'll see next time I try doing something like this. Basically a loooot of constrain floor elevation cheats and editing the lot with Lot Adjuster.
And it looks cute in neighborhood view!

So why would I do this? Well, this right here. I would love to recreate that Urbz map someday in TS2 as a neighborhood with all its iconic characters. I recently got my hands on Simcity 4, and I'm pretty excited to make this, but I still have a lot to learn, and the process won't be easy at all. So yeah, just a little bit of practice to maybe someday recreate Salty's Riverboat.

TS2 bump maps just don't look very good and they bloat the file size. There's also a strong possibility that they increase the risk of pink soup, since they add a second large texture to everything that has them. Not worth it, at all, in my opinion. I've removed them from old stuff and it absolutely improved how it looks on modern computers.
A perfect example of how much they're not needed...DeeDee doesn't use them and her stuff looks great in the game.
The specular (shine) stuff uses really small textures (or links to the game's envmaps w/o extra textures), and can look very cool. My game threw an absolute pink soup fit when I tried adding C&K's object shaders mod, so I haven't tried the clothing one yet. I'm very intrigued though, after seeing what pforest did with it.
hi dee, i'm relevantly new to the whole cc creating world, currently enjoying this journey of creation. But i just have one question since simpe is rather difficult to navigate but how does one add multiple maps to an object like specular and diffuse maps?
Hi! You have to edit the txmt! Although, you can't really add that many maps, it's only normal map (bump map). (If you have these two sets of extra shaders by C&K, you can add some others too, but then everyone who uses your cc will need these shaders too, so I haven't tried them yet.) And I usually just edit the normal map into the texture, because it looks similar anyway, and less textures = smaller file and stuff.
I haven't found a tutorial about adding normal maps, but I found one for deleting them - just do the opposite of it. You have to add 4 lines to the txmt.
Yeah, that's probably not helpful, but I never really use normal maps or anything else, sorry 🙈

So now I can have specular maps in TS2, thanks to this amazing discovery by @crispsandkerosene . It took me a while to absorb the news xD. Yesterday I gave it a go and added spec maps to a few of my worn Love Seat recolours. It certainly gave these more oomph. Small details like the weathered gilding look more crisp from the distance.
(If you don't know what specular map is - it's an image that serves as a mask for the shine layered over the object. Lighter areas get more shine and black areas are matte)

Douglasville 1.1 - Arizona neighborhood with pulp storyline for The Sims 2!

Douglasville is a TS2 almost-cc-free neighborhood based on the Spanish videogame Runaway: A Road Adventure.
This neighborhood is set in the fictional region of the Simrizona Desert and it features: beautiful canyon landscapes, a colorful bunch of characters with unique stories and personalities, a treasure hunt, lots inspired by Mexican and Western false front architecture!

Douglasville allows players to let their creativity loose as they decide the paths of the strange characters who inhabit this land: you will have to make choices, pick a side and let the other sink in this greedy treasure hunt who will probably end up in a few casualties. This neighborhood can be a great start for a Build a City Challenge with a few adjustments, or you can keep Douglasville as it is: a small, dilapidated ghost town for the lonely wolves. Speaking of wolves, be careful because you will find a pack of mexican wolves hunting around the area! The main features of Douglasville are:
◉ A desertic neighborhood decorated with the amazingly beautiful Canyon Pack by Kridershot. Enjoy these ARIZONA-INSPIRED LANDSCAPES, if you can fight the heat and the hungry wolves!
◉ 7 HOUSEHOLDS + 2 SIMS IN THE BIN, all characterized by unique backgrounds and, sometimes, featuring storytelling props in their inventories to help you get involved with their stories.
◉ A TREASURE HUNT! The terrible thugs Gustav and Feodor are searching for the Hopi treasure and they have reason to believe Gina Timmins knows something about it. Who will get their greedy hands on the treasure first?
◉ Lots were built in MEXICAN AND WESTERN-FALSE-FRONT STYLES to correctly convey the atmosphere of the United States' South West area. The hood features ONE STARTER HOME to help you include your own sims in the run for the treasure!
Before downloading, I need to give you some warnings:
⚠ This neighborhood includes references to an existing indigenous tribe from North America: the Hopi Tribe. This is directly taken from the videogame Runaway and it's something I decided to keep. I am not Hopi, so my knowledge is limited, and I did what I could with no custom content. It's important for me to specify that I don't want this neighborhood to disrespect native American tribes in any way.
⚠ There are three drag queens living in Douglasville. To keep custom content to a minimum, I decided to create them as women and change their gender behaviour through SimPE (they have male voices, will pee standing and sexually reproduce as men). If you want to be more realistic, you can change their gender to male and dress them up with custom clothes.
⚠ You need a CAMERA MOD. The neighborhood is big and there are lots on the borders of the map, so without a camera mod you would not be able to play the hood as intended.
Below you will find two download links:
“DGVL” is the neighborhood folder and it must be extracted in Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighborhoods.
“Douglasville_CC” is the folder containing a small amount of CC required for the neighborhood to appear as intended. It must be extracted in Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads. Everything has been sorted in labelled folders to help you organize your cc.
