Social Security Card Template PSD alldocuments
What is an Social Security Card Template PSD
An SSN template is a digital or physical design format that mimics the appearance of an official Social Security card issued by the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA). These templates typically include fields for the cardholder’s name, SSN, and signature, designed to look like a real social security card.
Components of an SSN Template
Card Layout: A typical SSN template includes a rectangular layout with space for a name, SSN, and signature. The background often mimics the blue and white pattern seen on official cards.
Fonts and Typography: Authentic-looking SSN templates use fonts similar to those on real cards, such as Courier New or Arial, to enhance the appearance of legitimacy.
Security Features: Some advanced templates may incorporate mock security features like watermarks or serial numbers to resemble the design of an official SSN card.
Legitimate Uses of an SSN Template
1. Educational Purposes
SSN templates can be used for educational activities, such as teaching the importance of personal identification documents and understanding their structure. Instructors might use these templates in courses on U.S. civics, law, or identity theft prevention to illustrate the appearance and components of a real SSN card.
2. Replacements for Personal Use
If you already have a legitimate SSN and need a replacement card for record-keeping or as a backup, you might create a replica for personal use. However, it’s crucial to ensure that such replicas are not used for fraudulent purposes or misrepresented as official documents.
3. Theatrical and Media Productions
SSN templates can be employed in movies, plays, or TV shows where characters require realistic-looking social security cards. In these contexts, the cards serve a purely fictional role and are not used for any actual transactions or identifications.
Understanding the Social Security Number (SSN) and Card Replacement
The Social Security Number (SSN) is a nine-digit number issued to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and temporary (working) residents. It serves as a critical identifier for various federal and state programs, including taxes, social security benefits, and identity verification.
Typically, it takes around 10-14 days to receive a new or replacement social security card from the Social Security Administration (SSA). However, the process can vary depending on factors such as documentation verification, application accuracy, and mailing times. For those who already have a Social Security Number, obtaining a duplicate card is a straightforward process, but it’s essential to follow the official procedure to avoid potential legal issues.
Legal Ways to Obtain a Replacement Social Security Card
Online Application: If you meet specific criteria, you can apply for a replacement card online through your My Social Security account. This method is convenient and typically faster than mail-in applications. Ensure you have a valid ID and meet the requirements outlined by the SSA.
Mail-in Application: You can also complete Form SS-5 and mail it with the necessary documentation to your local SSA office. This process may take longer due to mail handling and processing times.
In-Person Application: Visiting an SSA office in person is another option. You can submit your application and documentation directly, which might expedite the process if there are no issues with your paperwork.
How to Create a Replica Social Security Card (For Personal Use Only)
If you have a valid SSN and are considering creating a replica card for personal use, it’s essential to note that this should only be used in scenarios where the law permits it. For example, having a photocopy for records or as a backup in case you lose the original. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to create a basic replica using Photoshop:
Step 1: Gather Required Information
You’ll need your social security number, full name, and signature. Ensure that this information is accurate and matches your official documents.
Step 2: Open Photoshop and Set Up Your Document
Open Photoshop and create a new document with dimensions similar to a social security card (typically 3.5 x 2 inches).
Set the resolution to 300 DPI to ensure high-quality print output.
Step 3: Design the Card Background
Use the rectangle tool to create the card’s outline.
Apply a light blue background color to mimic the original card’s appearance.
Add subtle textures or patterns using Photoshop brushes to replicate the security features of an actual card. Remember, this is only for personal use and not intended to deceive or mislead.
Step 4: Add Text and Information
Use the text tool to input your SSN, full name, and other required details.
Choose a font that closely resembles the official card’s typography, such as Courier New or Arial.
Adjust the text size and alignment to match the format of an actual card.
Step 5: Add Your Signature
Scan your signature or create a digital version using a tablet.
Import the signature into Photoshop and place it in the appropriate area on the card.
Adjust the size and opacity to blend it naturally with the card design.
Step 6: Apply Final Touches
Add any additional elements, such as a mock watermark or serial number, for a realistic touch.
Review the card for accuracy and ensure all information is correct and legible.
Step 7: Print and Use Cautiously
Print the card on high-quality paper or card stock.
Assistance with Creating a Social Security Card Replica
If you’re not confident in your ability to create a replica social security card or prefer professional assistance, some services specialize in document reproduction for personal use. However, it’s crucial to ensure that these services operate within legal boundaries and provide clear disclaimers that their products are not for fraudulent use.
Final Thoughts
Creating a social security card, whether through official channels or for personal backup purposes, should be approached with caution and a thorough understanding of legal guidelines. Always prioritize legality and accuracy in your endeavors to avoid any complications.
If you need a replacement card, following the official procedures is the safest and most legitimate route. For personal replicas, use your skills responsibly and ensure your actions comply with legal standards to avoid unintended consequences.
Remember, while Photoshop can help create a visually accurate replica, the misuse of such documents can lead to significant legal trouble. Always use your SSN and related documents ethically and responsibly.

December event

Tyler sighed and rolled his eyes as he heard his name being called. He was in the queue to get hot chocolates from a stall that Caroline was running.
They were the most over-the-top, elaborate hot chocolates but he’d smelled the ingredients that Caroline had spent weeks mixing together to get it perfect and he had to get one.
Seeing you at the end of the line he hurried over. “Hey. Can you hold this for me? I have to go and help my mum deal with something. I’ll get Caroline to make you one when I get back.” Tyler said while rushing off. You shrugged and looked down at the drink he’d shoved in your hands. The marshmallows and toppings were starting to slop down into the cup which was threatening to spill over. Taking a sip to make sure that it didn’t drip down your fingers and soak into your gloves you hummed. It really did taste good. No wonder there was such a long line. When Tyler didn’t come back and the line had only moved a little you decided that it might be better if you just helped yourself to his drink. You knew Caroline had some backup supplies so it wasn’t like she would run out and he couldn’t get another one.
You sat and watched the light flurry of snow and people rushing back and forth around the marketplace as they tried to find last-minute gifts at the winter fair.
“Hey!” Tyler called out as he tried to push through the crowd. By the time late afternoon had hit, the place was jam-packed. Food stalls had started prepping for the evening dinner rush and you could see Stefan and Jeremy across the town square helping set up tables under a marque that threatened to collapse under a day's worth of snow.
“Hi!” You greeted. Tyler stopped as he looked at your hands. The cup he’d given you was now empty. The cups were a special pattern and could be reused at any stall for half of a drink. An idea of Bonnie’s when everyone helped plan the event at the beginning of November.
"Did you drink my hot chocolate?" Tyler asked as he took the cup from your hand and found that it was empty.
“I was cold and you took ages coming back.” You explained and gave Tyler an apologetic look.
“Let’s go see if Caroline has any more.” Tyler said and motioned for you to follow him as he led the way to the line.

Quantico Tea Party
Insider gossip from one of the most important American Operation Centers
Recent News>FBI>Official
Sorry ladies, your prince charming is gay (so is your sugar daddy)
Edgar J. Hover
Last weekend, a bombshell dropped from the FBI headquarters in Quantico that the Section Chief of Critical Incidence Response Team, SSA Aaron Hotchner, openly admitted that he has been married to his former team member and mentor, SSA David Rossi, for almost 5 years. Hotchner announced it at the bureau’s first of its kind One Love fundraiser, which was aimed to elevate LGBTQ awareness in the justice system. SSA Hotchner’s public announcement might indicate a more inclusive, LGBTQ friendly environment, but also raises questions about fraternization rules.
As more than 60,000 Americans across the country go out on the streets celebrating pride month in just one week, the FBI, which had always been 3 steps behind sociopolitical trend, hosted it’s first ever LGBTQ focused fundraiser. The event was close door, with no video recording or outside reporters. Fortunately, the Quantico Tea Party is no outsider.
Beside fundraising, the bureau also invited well-known LGBTQ activists, advocates and two openly LGBTQ members of the congress, to raise voices for the community and gave the agents a lecture on sensitivity and equality. But the star of the night was without a doubt, the newly promoted section chief for the Critical Incidence Response Team (CIRT), SSA Aaron Hotchner. In his short speech, Hotchner confessed that he was married to his old teammate SSA David Rossi while they were still serving in the same unit.
Hotchner started with a reflexion of his impression at the beginning of his career of the bureau, describing the bureau in the 90s as a “powerful institution with a lot of powerful men,” pointing out the rampant discrimination that harmed numerous people:
Men, who were more than comfortable to make jokes, to bully those who they decided were unmanly, and worst, disregard victims of heinous crimes who were of sexual minorities. Sadly, those behaviors are not so uncommon even today.
Hotchner then called for his fellow colleagues to speak out against discrimination if we wished trust and faith from the people we swore to protect. In addition, he claimed that masculinity and patriarchy “the very foundation(s) the bureau and the justice system built upon” and fear of repercussions made people silent even when they do not subscribe to those believes.
But silence only fuels hate. Said Hotchner, leading up to his big revelation, So I decided not to be silent anymore. I am bisexual. I’m married to a man, a man who was my mentor, my teammate, who is and forever will be my best friend. It took us years to accumulate the courage to stand here today and show our love in front all of you, so trust me when I say I know how terrifying it feels. But to all of our colleagues who are afraid, I also want to tell you that there is nothing we should be terrified about because you have a firm, unwavering backup in us. Together, we’ll tear down the walls and ceilings, and build a better, safer place for all of us.
The section chief went on to an brief introduction about the new regulations and programs the bureau put forward, which are too boring for this newsletter, if anyone wants to know the details they are available on the bureau’s official website.
Although Hotchner didn’t name his partner, people all know it is the recently retired David Rossi, one of the founders of the Behavioral Analysis Unit, the unit which both men served for a long time.
Rossi recruited young special agent Hotchner in 1997, personally mentored him until his first retirement. When he returned to the bureau in 2008, he worked under his protege as ASAC, as far as we know, there was no dispute over authority. An anonymous source tells us that the two worked together seamlessly. “They are like mom and dad.” the agent describes them as such. To the outside world, Rossi is most famous for his best selling novels based on his experience as an FBI profiler. He is perhaps the most affluent field agent, he once received a warning for supplying 50,000 USD to a poker tournament in order to locate a suspect. Of course, none of us could forget the final blast we had at the marine bar before it closed. It was Rossi who paid for the whole night. He is thus dubbed our favorite sugar daddy.
Hotchner, on the other hand, has long been the prince charming for many of the ladies and fellas here at Quantico. The unofficial story for his absence from the Academy since 2003 was that he received too many love letters from overly ebullient cadets. With his sharp features, strong stature and solid, calming presence, Hotchner was thrice awarded the hottest man by the Quantico Tea Party team.
Our neighbor, the US Military officially repealed Don’t Ask, Don’t tell in 2010, the Supreme Court ruled same sex marriage legal in 2015, polls have repeatedly showed that the American public support LGBTQ right. But as we, the people of Quantico, can tell, the law moved faster than culture. Last year, the Quantico Tea Party did a follow up on after the 9 then closeted persons who voiced their cautious optimism after the Obergefell ruling. The result was heart wrenching - only two of them were out.
Anti LGBTQ sentiment is still very much prevalent in the justice system. The FBI is the first institution in the Virginia region to hold such event, a signal for the whole justice community that the most conservative, masculine section of the government system is striving for a more equal future. Hotchner hoisted the rainbow flag for which other LGBTQ persons have always longed. It is a beacon for hope and bravery and inclusion, and we have reasons to be optimistic about the transition into a better era for the bureau.
In the meantime, some have expressed concern over Hotchner and Rossi’s violation of the bureau’s fraternization rules.
In 1994, the bureau set forth its first fraternization rules that forbid all romantic relationships between a superior and their subordinate. The rules has since been more restrict, and words are that Rossi is the reason for these rules. Apparently the rules work well. For years people have debated over fraternization rules. Some, citing studies and cases, saying that allowing inter-team relationship will open doors for all kinds of problems - harassment, bias, inefficiency - but others, especially field agents, argue that not getting attached to the person you go through hell and heaven with is against human nature.
Hotchner did not address this problem in his speech, but one thing we can be sure of is that this blemish, if you can call it such, in Hotchner’s relationship with Rossi, will not diminish its significance for LGBTQ equality, nor does it taint the beauty of their love. According to our eyewitness, Rossi kissed his husband after he got off stage. Later that evening, the two men left the event together, hands locking.

... Stays In Quantico - FBI Part 2
Summary: Back in Quantico, you are reminded just how difficult your situation is. (Part 2 of the FBI Series)
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x fem!Reader
Wordcount: 3.1k | Rating: T
Warnings: descriptions of an anxiety attack
Here we are! I am so excited to finally start sharing this story with you. Having binged through all 15 seasons, I just want to say now that (1) this story will be canon-divergent and (2) it will be a slow burn. It is my first longer story about Hotch and I hope I will do his character justice. As always, you can find the posting schedule linked in my masterlist.
Have fun reading and let me know what you think.
masterlist | crossposted on AO3
Tumblr media
“I don’t know what to think.”
“This is not the kind of job where you don’t know what to think.”
“I know.”
“Hard to believe from someone who just told me she doesn’t know what to think.”
You shifted in your seat. The office you were in was colder than the bullpen of the BAU and you wished you had remembered to bring your cardigan with you. Now all you were wearing was your short-sleeved dress and heels.
To be fair, you had presumed this would just be a standard meeting with the in-house therapist. After the incident in Kansas City, it seemed like standard procedure and you were glad to have been offered this opportunity.
Now though, sitting in the way too soft armchair with the brunette older woman looking at you over her glasses, this felt more like an evaluation than anything else. And you absolutely hated it.
You looked at the still-life of a fruit bowl on the right wall, right next to a bookshelf full of framed certificates. A woman who was proud of her accomplishments.
The first and last time you had had an evaluation was when you had first started working at the FBI and back then you had been sure that you had failed it. You had been sure you had failed all of it.
Your grandmother always used to say that if you looked for flaws long enough you would find them.
Dr Johnson looked like she spent her life looking for flaws.
“Tell me again why you chose to work for the FBI – and the BAU specifically.”
You would not make it anyway. Fuck it.
“There is so much hurt in the world,” you started, watching her eyebrows rise over the frames of her glasses, “I would feel better knowing I am trying to do something against it. And as for the BAU,” you shrugged, “Chief Sector Strauss approached me about it and I thought I would be stupid not to take the opportunity.”
She hummed, looking down at her file. “You don’t have any official FBI training.”
“No.”
“Any formal police training?”
“No.”
“Gun training?”
You hid your smile at the thought of the recent debacle for the gun qualification.
“I took down an UnSub in Kansas City last week,” you reminded her, “That is why I am here.”
She did not react to it. “In fact,” she leafed through the papers in her hand, “You only recently finished college. How did that go for you?”
“Good,” you nodded, trying to keep your knee from bouncing, “It was good.”
“What did you major in?”
“English,” you replied and when you saw her raised eyebrow, tried to elaborate, “Um, English literature to be exact and I have a minor in law as well.”
“Why only a minor?”
“Pardon me?”
“Why did you only minor in law? Were you not good enough?”
To cover the unease from her question, you crossed your legs. “I had no interest in law,” you answered truthfully, “My passion was and is with literature.”
The full truth was, you simply did not like law students. That and the pressure they were under was, you were convinced, what brought many lawyers to an early grave. But she did not need to know that about you.
Ironic that you had ended up in the BAU after all this.
Totally not stressful.
She said your name, then, slowly, and leant forward. You tensed, knowing that look too well. Was this the moment she would tell you that you had failed the valuation? The moment Hotch would come into the office and hand you your resignation with that disappointed look in his eyes.
Maybe the way Kansas City had ended was just a way to disguise the true going-ons of your work here in Quantico?
“You have been here, what, seven months now, Agent?”
“Yes, eight months, coming February,” you replied, meeting her gaze and swallowing the dryness of your throat.
“Would you say you have adjusted to your life here in Virginia?”
You frowned, “What do you mean?”
Dr Johnson made a vague gesture as if encompassing everything and anything, “Do you have friends here? Family? How do you get on with your colleagues?”
Well, you certainly had not been expecting this kind of question.
“I live together with a friend,” you answered slowly, “My family lives in Idaho.”
“Idaho,” Johnson smiled, “A long way from home, no?”
“Yes.”
“Look, Agent, I am not going to lie,” she sighed, putting her pen down on the notepad, “I am not sure if you are the right fit for the FBI.”
You’re not the only one, you thought with a grimace.
“I am sure you are a good person, that your motivations for working here are true,” she elaborated, “But your lack of training? Your lack of … experience,” she gave you a pitiful look, “I am simply not convinced you are cut out for the work we need here.”
You had always thought it but hearing someone else say it to your face hit deeper than you ever could have thought. Your fingers started to tremble and you clasped your hands together, squeezing them to somehow force yourself to remain with as much dignity as you could.
“Okay,” you nodded, taking a deep breath in the hopes that it would keep your tears at bay, “What – what does that mean?”
“As there are no reasons for a suspension based on your mental health, the next step would be that I get in contact with your supervisor,” she threw a look on her paper, “SSA Aaron Hotchner, is that correct?” you nodded and she continued, “A written evaluation of your role at the BAU will be requested and then we will go from there. Best case scenario is you won’t leave at all, worst case scenario …”, she trailed off.
Of course, she did not need to finish the sentence for you to know what she was saying.
Worst case scenario: You would leave the FBI.
Realization washed over you and you smiled tightly at her. “Thank you, Dr Johnson,” you stood up, reaching a polite hand out to her which she took, “If you will excuse me, I should get back to my desk while I still can.”
Dr Johnson smiled kindly at you which only made it worse. She was pitying you. She felt sorry for you. Sorry for your incompetence, sorry for you not belonging in this place.
You felt like you would throw up any minute.
“Of course, Agent,” she said softly, “I will inform your supervisor of my recommendation. You will receive a copy of the protocol within the next week.”
You nodded, not meeting her eyes as you hurried out of her office.
*
The staff washroom on the third floor was always empty.
You knew that from the fact that you had often used it as a refuge after nearly dissolving into tears in the bullpen. That and the fact that the third floor was far away enough for anyone of the BAU to search for you here made it the perfect place to come after your talk with Dr Johnson.
You threw a look on your watch.
Six minutes. You would give yourself six minutes and then you would go to your desk and work on those reports and show Dr Johnson that you loved your job and that you were capable of doing it. You would show her that you were not the anxious, incompetent student she saw in you but someone who could be an asset to the team.
I am not sure if you are the right fit for the FBI.
Tears shot into your eyes and you locked the little cabin behind you, sitting on the edge of the toilet as you rushed to grab a few pieces of toilet paper.
The first sob echoed in the tiled room and you pressed the tissues to your mouth, hoping it would muffle the sounds somewhat. Your skin felt too hot and too tight and you could already see how your makeup would be ruined by the tears no matter how hard you tried.
And you had left your backup mascara in your bag at your desk.
Great. Just great.
Anxiety filled you at the thought of having to prove yourself even more than before. After Kansas City and Hotch’s encouraging words, you had somehow hoped that the hard part was over now. That you could focus on delivering good work instead of questioning if everyone doubted your belonging in the unit.
But maybe they were and they were just too polite to mention it? Maybe Dr Johnson was finally saying what they all wanted to spare you from?
Tears were rolling freely over your cheeks now, dropping onto your dress and you cursed, trying to wipe it away and somehow keep your face dry. There were still quite a few hours left in the workday and although you hoped there would not be a case coming in today, you were working along with a team of profilers.
You were like an open book to them even if there was the agreement to not profile each other.
A look on your watch told you it was nearly time to go and you took a moment to listen if anybody was there before stepping out of the little cubicle. It was completely abandoned.
Much like you had expected, you looked an absolute mess and just seeing yourself in the mirror brought fresh tears into your eyes.
“Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity,” you echoed the motto, gripping the edge of the counter and taking deep breaths, “Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity.”
*
“Hey, kid, how did it go?”
You entered the chaotic bullpen, just barely avoiding crashing into Anderson before making your way to your desk. Reid was seated across from you which meant that no matter how much of a mess you left at the end of a day, it still looked comparably neat.
Now though, it was nearly empty.
“Hi Derek,” you smiled tightly, your eyes still irritated from your impromptu cry session as you sat down at your desk.
You had splashed cold water on your face in hopes of somehow feeling and looking better. Still, you immediately went for your bag, scrambling to find your emergency mascara and lipstick to sneak back into the washroom before anyone noticed.
Especially –
“Agent,” Hotch’s voice boomed through the office and you winced, feeling the heat of tears collecting in your eyes again. You stayed ducked over your bag, hoping that maybe he did not mean you. Maybe he wanted to talk to Derek or Emily or Reid or –
Cleanly polished shoes appeared in your field of vision and you swallowed.
“In my office. Now.”
“Yes, Sir,” you mumbled, hastily wiping your cheek of a stray tear before straightening and following him up the stairs. You ignored Derek’s worried look, instead choosing to straighten your shoulders and stoically look ahead.
This was but an extension of the interview with Dr Johnson. You could do this even if the man terrified and intrigued you more than he should.
You had barely stepped foot in his office when he sat down. “Close the door. Sit down.”
You did, feeling much smaller than you had in Dr Johnson’s office. His lips were tight and he looked incredibly displeased, even for Hotch’s standards. You must have majorly messed up.
His hands were clasped in front of him and your eyes fell to his fingers. You swallowed heavily, hands wringing in your lap as you waited for him to start talking.
“Dr Johnson just informed me that a written evaluation of your performance on this team is being requested.”
“Sir, I can explain, I –“
He raised a hand, effectively silencing you and your mouth snapped shut.
“You do not need to explain anything,” he said calmly, “Dr Johnson is only doing her job and after what happened last week, it might not be such a bad idea.”
You nodded, trying to not seem as nervous as you were.
“Do not worry yourself over it. I meant what I said in Kansas,” he stated, facial expression unreadable, “You are a valuable addition to this team and I look forward to seeing your contributions in the future.”
“Yes, Sir,” you looked down on your hands, trying to hide your nervousness, “Thank you, Sir.”
“Call me Hotch.”
“Yes, Si- Hotch,” you corrected yourself with a sheepish smile. He was sitting at his desk, hands folded on top of it as he looked at you. And fuck, it should be forbidden to look this good. You froze, licking your lips and hoping you would be able to blame it on the dryness of your lips instead of you imagining what it would be like to feel his mouth on yours.
Not the time, a rational part of your brain reminded you, So not the fucking time.
*
Shuffling through the crowded metro you pressed your phone to your ear.
“I promise, it is all right, mom,” you assured her, letting yourself fall into one of the free seats, keeping your bag pressed against your chest. An elderly woman threw you an offended look and shuffled away from you as if you had any interest in stealing her dog off her hands.
“I am just worried, honey,” your mom said on the other side of the phone, “We are all worried. It is a hard job, isn’t it? And why do they keep putting you up for evaluations? You haven’t even been there for a full year!”
“Mom –“
“Are you okay?” she interrupted you in that voice that only your mom had, “Truly okay?
Your head fell against the window of the wagon, the heaviness of the day washing over you. You took a shuddering breath, “No, Mom, I – I don’t think I am.”
There was a sigh on the other side of the line. She was disappointed and worried, you could hear it already and it did not help to calm the anxiety raging in your stomach. You could almost see her in front of you, the pity in her eyes and the little furrow between her brows.
“You can always come home, hon, you know that, right?” she asked carefully and you cringed at how quiet she was being, “We can still find somewhere else for you to work. A nice option. You can come back home and dad and I will help you. I know it can take some time to find a good position. But you had so much fun doing literature, why not go back to it? You don’t have to stick there if it doesn’t make you happy.”
“But it does make me happy, mom,” you protested, wincing at how desperate you sounded, before adding quietly, “Saving people is what I want to do. And I can do it.”
“I am not saying you can’t, sweetie,” she assured you, “But maybe it is not what you should do with your life, hm?”
*
You could see that the light was on in the living room when you entered the small hallway. The sounds of the TV washed over your ears and you smiled.
“I’m home!”
A non-committal grunt answered you and you grinned, knowing that he was probably too entranced in whatever crime show he was currently watching. You let your keys fall onto the little side table and made sure to lock the deadbolt before making your way to Josh.
Your heels made clicking sounds on the floor and you took care to be as quiet as possible. “Hi,” you grinned, waving at him.
Josh was tall and lanky. And despite being offended if you ever told him that – looked exactly like one would imagine a law student to look. He was always well dressed and took great care when it came to all things cultural. He drank the best wine, read all the important books, watched all the niche movies to impress people.
Sometimes you joked that of the two of you, he was the one who could be expected to work for a government institution.
“It’s late,” he commented, nodding to the screen, “You’re usually here by the second episode.”
“I wanted to get some reports done,” you explained, shrugging out of your coat, “Had a chat with my boss today again. I thought it might be better to not give any more opportunities to criticize me. How was your day?”
“Boring,” he replied, “Attended that one event about intellectual property and want to lunch with a few friends from uni. You should come with us sometime, you will like them.”
You nodded, already thinking ahead of a day when you would have enough free time to join him and his friends. Dr Jones’ words about having a strong social life to fall back to echoed in your mind and you decided to make more of an effort to make friends.
It would be all right.
There was some Chinese takeout in Josh’s lap and you spotted a few grocery bags in the small hallway to your room and the kitchen.
“Did you get me the bananas like I asked?” you asked, slipping out of your heels.
Josh kept munching on his noddle, making a vague gesture that led you into the kitchen. And there, on the tiny dining table were two green bananas.
“They are not even ripe yet,” you called into the living room, “And I asked for four bananas, not two.”
“What do you need them for anyway?”
“I wanted to bake banana bread,” you said, turning to get out some flour and chocolate chips, “It’s an easy breakfast to have in the metro.”
Josh sighed, walking into the kitchen and throwing himself onto the black dining chair. “You barely eat at home anyway, that’ll just go to waste.”
“Which is exactly why it is nice to have something ready to eat on the go,” you explained, wondering if he had overheard your words.
Cracking two eggs into a bowl, you hummed. “I could bring it into the office,” you mused, starting to mush up the bananas, “I think JJ mentioned she liked it once.”
“To the colleagues that despise you?”
You frowned, “They don’t despise me. They are very nice to me, Josh.”
Josh took the last bite of his noodles, setting down the little container “By the way, Greg is coming over tonight.
“But it’s almost midnight,” you stated, throwing a confused look towards the clock, just to make sure, “Didn’t you say you will leave for that Seattle trip tomorrow?”
“Yeah, if it gets too late he will just stay on the couch,” Josh replied, shrugging. You nodded, not saying anything but knowing deep down that George would occupy the bathroom that morning so you would have to get up even earlier than normal.
That would be a stressful day.

The concept of subtlety is non-existent with the BAU team as Aaron and Emily continue to be oblivious to one another's feelings. Therefore they decide to call in some much needed backup in the form of a certain Jack Hotchner who has a special invitation for Emily.

After Roe I noticed there were a lot more new bi women on my lesbian dating apps lol. On one hand- good for them, I'm glad they're not wasting time and energy on men anymore. On the other- I don't like how they're using women as a back up plan instead of actually wanting to be with them. I just know that this is going to make lesbian's dating lives a bit harder. Who knows maybe this will cause some febfem awakenings
yeah many lesbians & ssa-leaning bi women complain about how it’s like women are a backup or second choice 😭 i mean good for them but also i hope they’ll ultimately see women as viable partners rather than just backups to men

“I doubt they’re gonna have tacos, babe,” you tell Luke.  You stand up from the blanket, brushing excess sand off from the backs of your legs, “What’s your backup?”
Luke throws you his best pouty face before sighing, “I guess just a burger or something.”
“You got it,” you say, leaning down and pecking his lips quickly before making your way over to the food stand.
You skipped over awkwardly, the sand burning the bottoms of your feet.  You practically let out a breath of relief when you were on wooden ground that led up to the food stand.
You looked at the menu, scanning the items and clutching your money in a fist.  You couldn’t help but chuckle to yourself when your eyes landed on a particular item.  The place served damn tacos.  Luke was going to be so smug.
You wait in line and start running through the order in your head, just so you’re sure to get it right, when you hear someone whistle nearby.  You look up and notice a small group of guys lingering near the corner of the food stand in the parking lot, all gawking and licking their lips at you.
You cringe and ignore them.  Your eyes fall down as you start picking at your nails.
But the whistling continues.
“Hey baby,” one of them calls out.  “You’re lookin’ mighty fine in that swimsuit.”
You can feel the blood rushing to your cheeks as you try desperately to keep your head down.  You hope the line moves quickly, you think as you tear at the skin near your cuticle.
“That top’s a little small, isn’t it?” one of them calls, “you’re almost busting right out of it! Not that we mind, right boys?”
They all laugh in unison and you swallow hard, crossing your arms and suddenly feeling so insecure.
“Aw, don’t cover up baby.”
You let your hair fall in your face as you hang your head even lower, desperately trying to ignore their crude comments.
“Hey!” One calls out again, “We’re talking to you!”
“Woah, woah, woah—” You snap your head up at the sound of Luke’s voice.  “What the hell? You guys have a problem?” he says firmly.  You let out a sigh of relief when he walks up to your side and wraps a secure arm around you, separating you from the group of guys.
“Yeah, and who’re you?  Her douche bag in shining armor?” One of them smirks.
You watched as Luke’s head tilts to the side, anger evident on his face.  His dark eyes narrow and his lips form a thin line, he’s about to lunge forward when you stop him.
You quickly latch onto him, winding your arm around his before reaching for his hand.  His chest almost instantly deflates and his face softens at your touch.
“Just get lost guys, alright?” he takes a breath and says calmly before turning his backs to the boys and blocking your body with his.
Eventually the boys just scoff and disassemble, walking into the parking lot and fading into the distance.
You feel so awkward and uncomfortable suddenly.  You wished you had some clothes on instead of this stupid bathing suit.  You release Luke’s arm and try to cover yourself, wrapping your arm awkwardly over your chest, and trying to minimize the appeared size of your breasts.
“Look,” you say pointing up, “they have tacos, after all.”
You were trying to be casual about it as you stare back up at the menu.  You really didn’t want to dwell on what just happened.
Luke notices your uneasiness and lifts his arm up to shrug his shirt off.  He hands it to you without a comment and looks up at the menu.
“No way!” he gasps, a grin spreading across his face.  “Tacos at a food stand on a beach, how lucky am I?”
You slip on his tee before leaning into his side again.  You nod, amusing his excitement, but as you stare up at his smiling face and feel his protective arm around your body, you know that it’s you that’s the lucky one.

*February 2021*
This was a whole new game changer for me, but I’m happy I signed up for it.  While visiting my son Georgie (through a very brief period when the pandemic was at a standstill, before the States closed down again), I had been asked by the Producers of NBC’s “The Masked Singer” if I’d be willing to participate in the show.
Having seen the show through Youtube videos and even seeing the UK’s version of it back home during our lockdown, I immediately hopped on board and said I would do it.  But of course being as secretive as this show was, they forbad me from telling anyone or announcing it on Social media, if I even breathed a word of my appearance on the show to anyone, they’d revoke it and kick me out of the show.
The character that they had chosen for me was the Lioness and boy was she a gorgeous creature.  Much like how they had the Lion all the way back in Season one, she was pure gold however she wasn’t covered with armor like the Lion was. I had asked for some flexibility to the outfit cause I wanted to give the audience a side of me that they’ve never seen before.  I wanted to be able to move much like Bow-Wow did on the last season of the Masked Singer as the Frog.
They took some of my ideas into consideration on allowing the outfit to have that flexibility for me to dance my heart out. I wore platform high-heeled boots much like I always did back when I first started off as the Rock Angel.
I also wanted to honor Freddie in a way with my outfit.  I had asked for the gloves if it could be possible if we could add some diamond claws. I showed them (whatever pictures I could find of the 1974 Rainbow concert. Thank you all for the lovely gifs) just so they could get the idea and when the costume dept. saw it, they fell in love with the idea.  They even agreed to shape the diamonds as real lioness claws.
Once the costume was fully complete and I got to put it on for the first time, it felt like I had actually become The Lioness. Of course it came with a price too, I wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone, even when I just had to go around with the mask, I was given the famed DON’T TALK TO ME black hoodie so that no one was able to hear my real voice.
I was also forbidden from talking to the other contestants as well as hear them rehearse until we would begin filming the episodes.  I was placed into GROUP B along with creatures such as the Piglet, Black Swan, the Chameleon, and Grandpa Monster.  I was also told that there would be some major game changers this season but no one, not even the judges knew just what those changes were, only the Host.
Weeks and weeks of rehearsals and performing each of my songs that I had picked out and wanted to do, never did I think I’d get as far as I did.  But I could care less about the trophy, I just enjoy singing and this was a whole new game changer cause now my fans get to see a whole new side of me that they never do get to see on stage with me.
Sure I’ve had courage to go up on stage constantly, overcome every obstacle known to man, hell even stay a sane person after having a rough childhood, but the Lioness has given me courage to do things that I’ve never done before on stage, whether performing with my boys, by myself, or with other singers that I’ve performed/toured with.  Back then or present day.
And I hope you all can guess correct just who is beneath the Lioness mask. Enjoy my dears.
*GROUP B PREMIERE EPISODE*
“Alright! Alright! Alright!” the current host of MS5 Niecy Nash said after the last contestant Black Swan performed her opening song.  “Now this next contestant is gonna prove that she belongs on this stage. Give it up….for the Queen herself! The Lioness!”
The crowd cheered and I walked out with the Men in Black strutting down with pride in each step.  I greeted the audience with the royal wave before standing next to Niecy.  Even though I could vaguely see out of this mask, I still had some sense of the stage.
“Oooo girl you are stunning to look at look at this ya’ll ain’t see a Queen or what?!”
“She looks amazing!” I heard Jenny exclaim.
“Yeah I’m jealous look at those claws of hers. I wish I had those.” Nicole stated.  I gave them a sexy clawing motion with my hands as they all hooted and hollered.
“I agree with you Nicole. Now let’s find out some clues on just who this Queen Lioness is.” Through the TV, I knew my first clue package would be playing.  Here’s out it went down.
You would see a 3 layered rock platform, on smaller rock, one slightly taller in the middle and finally a large boulder that stood tall like a throne with me sitting on top of it.
“Welcome to my Pride. Being the top lioness isn’t always easy but it’s all worth it in the end. Something that I believe the world could benefit from.” The screen would change to me walking along a virtual plain with various animals.  “Growing up, we weren’t allowed to really show our true colors as much as we can now. If you were even slightly different from the rest of the world, you were condemned.” A zebra with the LGBTQ patterns for its stripes came up.
“An LGBTQ flag. Could be a member of it.” Pointed out Robin Thicke.
“But it still hurts me to see that even as society begins to change, there are those that still cling to the old ways of life.”
“Maybe a politician. This is a lot of politics going on here.” Nicole stated.  The screen changed to me holding the world in the palm of my hands.  I crushed the world down.
“I just hope that one day the world will come to understand that we are all One people, one world.” I opened my hands up and soon a rainbow appeared before ending my 1st clue package.
The stage was dark except for one spotlight shining down on me.  Well more like half of me, half of my body remained in the shadows while the other half was sparkling under the spotlight as I spoke with my American accent, the voice modulator turning off for my performance.
“We are a nation with multi-graphic boundaries. Bound together through our beliefs. We are like-minded individuals, sharing a common vision. Pushing toward a world rid of color loins.” Already I could see that people were trying to figure out who I was by hearing my real voice, but due to me American accent and natural British accent being two completely different voices, it was throwing people for a loop.
I then did Janet’s famed countdown with my right hand before the song came on full force and I and my backup dancers began to dance the Rhythm Nation dance.  ALL in perfect unison.
The crowd went insane and I could even see the judges standing up in shock as well as cheering.  I strutted towards the mic stand at the corner of the stage and began to sing.  My natural alto range came forth and I could see the audience singing along and even do some of the dance moves to the song, especially once the chorus hit.
I strutted across the stage before I would rejoin and lead the pride that was my dancers in the famed dance, before strutting forward on the stage, coaxing the audience to cry the chorus out loudly.
*Me*
With music by our side To break the color lines Let's work together To improve our way of life Join voices in protest To social injustice A generation full of courage Come forth with me
People of the world today Are we looking for a better way of life We are a part of the rhythm nation People of the world unite Strength in numbers we can get it right One time (Sing it up!) We are a part of the rhythm nation
My backup dancers and I then did probably the most difficult dance break that Janet had set for all dancers to perform in perfect unison.
“She’s has got this dance DOWN!!” exclaimed Nicole.
“This has to be a natural singer!” Jenny told Robin who agreed.
“No question!”
*Me*
Rhythm Nation baby!
Sing it for the children Sing it for the people
Rhythm Nation baby
Sing it for the man!
We are a part of a Rhythm Nation!
My dancers and I saluted and the crowd went absolutely berserk from my first number.
“Yaas Queen!” I heard Niecy exclaim as she came up to me.  “Lioness all up here slaying it!” I gave a graceful bow (as low as I could go without the mask falling off) and she said. “Judges what did you all think of our lovely Lioness’s performance.”
“Niecy you don’t need to say anything else cause you summed it up! I think we are in the presence of a true performer here.” Nicole first started off.
“Agreed. Never did we see someone actually have the guts to pull off—probably one of the hardest choreography dances ever!” Jenny agreed.
“Alright judges now you know the drill. It’s time to put your first impression guesses into the tour bus.” I could see some of them complaining as they wrote down their guesses on who I was as the little tour bus came through to collect their First Impression guesses.  “Now then, do any of you have any clues on just who this Queen of the Beasts could be, let’s start with you Mr. Robin.”
“Wha Me? Oh man….” The rest of the panel laughed at his misery while I mimed a laugh by putting my hand to my opened mouth mask. “I mean—this could literally be anyone but based off the clue package she spoke a lot about the world and people around it. So this definitely isn’t someone who is recently famous. She’s been around for a while.”
“Whatcha trying to say Robin that she’s old?” Niecy defended me as I got into a fighting position.
“Oh Robin you’re about to get mauled by the Lioness!” Ken teased him.
“No, no, no, no! Not insinuating anything!”
“Cause you know you never insult a woman’s age there Robin Thicke!” Niecy exclaimed.
“Tell him mommy!” Ken cheered.
“Sit down Kenneth!”
“Yes ma’am.” He said as he sat down on his chair.
“Where I was going with this is that maybe she came from an era where it wasn’t okay to bring about your sexuality or gender.”
“True, true.” Nicole agreed with him.
“And seeing the LGBTQ pattern on the zebra, I’m thinking this might be Shea Diamond.”
“Okay, okay not a bad guess.”
“I’m afraid I’m gonna have to disagree with you there Robin. I’ve listened to Shea Diamond sing and that’s not her.” Ken said.
“Then who do you think it is Ken?” asked Nicole.
“Okay I know exactly who this is.” Oh god here we go. “Okay from the clue package alone there was obviously the LGBTQ brand with the Zebra. Maybe she’s an advocate for the LGBTQ community. I’m going with Lady Gaga!”
Okay not a bad guess but it’s not her.  I could see some of the audience pondering Ken Jong’s rare, good guesses.
“Well Lioness whoever you are, you are a star.” Jenny stated as she pointed at me.  I blew her a kiss and Niecy said.
“Now Lioness before we go, I have to ask you. How long did it take you to do that dance?” I put the mic up to the thinnest part of my mask and answered with my voice modulator now on, making me sound like a warm, motherly Chipette.
“It took months actually, but I’m a fast learner when it comes to dancing.” I hinted that little clue and only my super fans would realize that I love to dance, especially when it was with my Brother Mine back in the day.
“Okay. Well give it up one more time for the Lioness!” the crowd applauded and I waved goodbye before walking off the stage.
After all the performances of Group B went, we all lined up and found out just who among us was going home for the first round in our group.  It was suspenseful but the votes were in and Grandpa Monster was the one to be eliminated from the first round.
I was safe for now.  I just hope I can keep going on and maybe go all the way.
*ROUND 2*
It was now Round 2 and I was going to perform after the Chameleon.  I heard him do the song “21 Questions” by 50 Cent ft. Nate Dogg.  I’ll admit he was an impressive performance, especially with how he can rap so my best guess is that he could be a rapper.  Unfortunately, I’m not quite educated in my rappers (plus one rapper in particular still gives me a bad vibe after what he did) so I wouldn’t know who to begin guessing if I were an audience member.
After going to a commercial break it was now time for me to perform my second song choice that both me and the Producers thought would be a good fit for me.
“This Queen last time she crushed it with Janet’s Rhythm Nations, and now she’s back to hopefully crush it once more. Let’s dig up some more clues on the Lioness.”
The next clue package stood as followed:
“I’ll admit, 1st round I was terrified. Never have I done something like this before. But once I got up on stage, I overcame that fear and just sang. In fact, it was music that helped me overcome my shyness.” I told the camera.
I opened up a closet and inside it was my Red Special guitar, a pair of drum sticks and a Fender Bass guitar (the one that Deacy always played with).
“Growing up I had very low self-esteem. I was shy, insecure, and thought I’d never amount to anything.”
“Aww that’s so sad.” Nicole awed.  “Don’t worry I’ve been there too honey.”
“But when I found music, it changed my life. I would become a whole different person everytime I played an instrument. Or just sang to myself.” I picked up the Bass guitar and strummed it. “I especially loved the Rock and Roll artists growing up. Just seeing them perform live, gave me the confidence I needed to one day reach a dream of becoming a Rockstar myself. And low and behold it came true.”
I was now performing on stage with the Men in Black surrounding me pretending to be crazy fans holding up signs with hearts and I love you Lioness.
“So I’m here to say that if you feel like you’re alone out there in the world, or feel like it’s against you. Just listen and jam out to some of your fav tunes. Because in them, Life creates a new path for you.” I did a wind-mill and my mask gave a gleam at the right eye, symbolizing a wink.
The lights were dark and I took a deep breath in before exhaling out.  Soon the guitar strum of “Eye of the Tiger” came on before I threw my fist in the air with each punch the guitar gave, while fire spurted from the stage.
The crowd cheered as Survivor’s most popular song came through the speakers and I went up to the mic stand and sung my heart out. I changed a word or two just to make it fit more towards me but it didn’t take away the effect my song had on the audience.
The backup band was jamming out to the song with one lioness on the guitar and a male lion at the drums and another male one on the bass.  I belted out the last note
*Me*
Rising up, back on the street Did my time, took my chances Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet Just a girl and her will to survive
So many times it happens too fast You trade your passion for glory Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past You must fight just to keep them alive
It's the eye of the tiger It's the thrill of the fight Rising up to the challenge of our rival And the last known survivor Stalks her prey in the night And she's watching us all with the eye
Of the Tiger
The eye of the tiger The eye of the tiger The eye of the Lioness
At the very last explosion of fireworks and fire, I punched my hand in the air and the crowd cheered.
“YASSS LIONESS!!!” I could hear Nicole cheering from the panel booth as she pointed at me.  Ken Jong, Jenny and Robin all bowed before my performance as Niecy came back up and she said.
“And the Queen slays us AGAIN!!” I bowed before her and took her hand and pressed it to my open mouth giving her a ‘kiss’. “Oh and I’m getting a royal kiss from the Queen herself!”
“Lucky mommy!” Ken proclaimed.
“Sit your butt down son! Panel, what did you think of that song?”
“Lioness, you took us to a real rock concert. I mean the fire, the electric guitar. And I think I even saw you doing a little air guitar in there somewhere!” Jenny said.  I shrugged guiltily.  Yeah I did do a little air guitar, come on I know you all do it too! “But that was a killer performance!” I bowed my head in gratitude.
“What made you choose that song in particular?” Niecy asked me.
“It’s always a good rock anthem. You can just let yourself loose and not have a care in the world. And it really got me through my 1st year of being who I am today.” That got the panelists attention.
“Alright so we went through your personal journal and found out just who exactly your childhood crush was. Men in Black! Bring out the 1st crush clue!” Niecy announced as two of the men in Black came out with a large flat platform with a sheet over it.  “I’m excited to see just who it is you had a crush on. Now let’s see who it is…..”
Niecy took off the sheet and it revealed the late great Prince.
“It’s Prince!” exclaimed Nicole.
“Okay! Okay I see you Lioness! Little chocolate love there.” I laughed and said into my microphone.
“First thing I always notice about a man are his eyes. And growing up, Prince stole my heart with those eyes.”
“You sure it wasn’t also his dance moves?” Niecy asked me with a ‘for real’ look.
“Mm that too.” Everyone laughed before Niecy asked the judges.
“Okay so any guesses panel on just who this could be? Let’s start with you Jenny.”
“Oh my god why!?” we all laughed. “Okay going off by the tonality of your voice. You are truly a Rock star under there, there’s no way you could be a Pop artists or rapper under there. And my guess in Pink.”
A very good guess. In fact when Pink came on the music scene, everyone thought she was trying to copy my voice but she’s a total talented artist on her own. That’s all her voice, and I’m proud to have not only mentored her, but become her very dearest friend and confidant.
“Yeah it does kinda sound like Pink. But the clues didn’t really point out to her.” Nicole said.
“What you thinking Scherzinger?” Niecy asked.
“Okay so we saw LGBTQ last time but I also took notice of the instruments that were in this week’s clue package.  The red guitar specifically.” Oh shit she’s got it. “And I remember seeing this performer on my 12th birthday. I’m going with the Rock Angel (Y/n) Kline.”
“Ooo okay. Not a bad guess Nicole.”
“Yeah it could be the Rock Angel but it’s not!” Ken bluntly said.
“Oh god here we go again.” Jenny said as she flopped against her chair.
“In the clue package we did see the guitars and the drumsticks. And Sticks rhymes with what? Nicks. Stevie Nicks welcome to the Masked Singer!” Oh god Ken.
No way could I ever be compare to Stevie Nicks! She’s way above me and no way could I ever be better than her or do her vocal ranges like she can do.
“Ken I swear I’m about to hit you in the head with this pen.” Nicole said.
“Alright, alright, alright calm down up there. Look no matter who is under here, let’s agree that the Lioness gave yet another rockin performance. Give it up for the Lioness everybody!” I walked backstage.
“The panel has given some good guesses. But there’s gonna be surprised to see just who I am. And—”
On your screens it would’ve staticed up and there on screen is the infamous Rooster with clues, Cluedle-Doo.  The rooster that’s been helping the viewers at home guess just who is under each mask, while also trying to get people to guess who he is.
“So sorry Lioness but I’m here to give the audience a little bit more than you’re letting on. Don’t let her voice fool you for she’s a Lioness that lives……across the pond.” His deep voice spoke to the camera as he walked over to his map with a pushpin pointed right at England.
“Hold on what was that? Something fishy is going on around here, and I’m gonna find out what.” I told the camera as I waved my fist.
A couple more performances later as well as the reveal of our group’s Wildcard, The Crab and it was time to reveal who was going to be unmasked.  I almost feared that I was gonna be the one to go home since Nicole had said my name and the fans would demand that I be unmasked.
But when Niecy read out that the Crab was gonna have to be unmasked I sighed with relief but I was also sad for the crab. He actually performed well tonight and I wanted to see just how far he was gonna go.  As me and the rest of the group that was safe headed back to our rooms, I kept thinking to myself just how was I gonna make it through without making my voice sound too obvious.
*ROUND 3*
Okay. This round is sure to throw them off my scent this time.  This is a song I’d never thought I’d do but it’s the only way to keep me going to the next round and not risk getting unmasked.
“Her last two performances have been killer! Now it’s time to see what else she’s got up her paws. Release, the Lioness!” Niecy announced.
The LIONESS; THE CLUES.
I was staring into my reflection at a watering hole.
“This has been a wild ride for me. Most fun I’ve ever had in years.” The letters MSG flashed on the screen written within the mud.
“MSG? Madison Square Garden?” asked Ken.
“But I’m here to show that I truly belong here and deserve a shot to go the Distance.”
“Go the Distance. Isn’t that a song from a Disney film?” asked Robin.
“Yeah Hercules. Could she be in an adaptation of Hercules?” Jenny said.
“So for this next performance, I’m gonna do a song I’ve never done before, and hopefully that will keep me in with the pride and out of the spotlight for just a little while longer.”
I stood there with the spotlight on me, the mic stand right in front of me as Miley Cyrus’s song “Wrecking Ball” came on.  The last time this song had been used on this show was way back during Season 1 with Mrs. Gladys Knight.  And she did a phenomenal job with her rendition of the song.  However I had a little something extra up my sleeve.
I started off with a smooth, ballad like tone for the opening using my hands and arms to give forth a more deeper emotion as I sang the song.  Before I finally unleashed the fire within me.
Like Freddie always did back in the day when Queen first started off, I tore the mic stand off the rest of it and fell into the passion of the chorus using the mic-stand like a sledgehammer when I could. I could see everyone lip-syncing the chorus and even the judges were singing along to the song.
I went back to my ballad like tone as I was kneeling on the ground looking up towards the heavens before standing back up and slowly walked towards the back of the stage as the lights dimmed down to only a spotlight on me.
When the 2nd chorus came back on, I pulled out my big surprise.  When the lights came fully on, a makeshift Wrecking ball stood in the middle of the stage. In order for me to fully be on it with this costume, the Wrecking ball was built around a swing-set and was hidden within the walls of the Wrecking ball, but I could stick my feet through a curtain that would give the illusion of me actually being on a Wrecking Ball (much like Miley was).
Everyone in the audience was losing their minds, I even saw Nicole getting really into the song as she would raise and circle her arms in the air.  I kept swinging back and forth as I continued to sing until my final note.
*Me*
We clawed, we chained, our hearts in vain We jumped, never asking why We kissed, I fell under your spell A love no one could deny
Don't you ever say I just walked away I will always want you
I came in like a wrecking ball I never hit so hard in love All I wanted was to break your walls All you ever did was wreck me Yeah, you, you wreck me
I never meant to start a war I just wanted you to let me in And instead of using force I guess I should've let you win I never meant to start a war I just wanted you to let me in I guess I should've let you win
Don't you ever say I just walked away I will always want you
I came in like a wrecking ball I never hit so hard in love All I wanted was to break your walls All you ever did was wreck me
I  came in like a wrecking ball Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung Left me crashing in a blazing fall All you ever did was wreck me Yeah, you, you wreck me
Yeah, you, you wreck me
This was probably my best performance of this entire competition.  No way was the audience gonna unmask me yet.  I got off of my makeshift Wrecking Ball and Niecy came up bowing before me.
“OH MY GOD!!!” Nicole and Jenny both exclaimed.
“The Queen remains on top!” at that point the crowd began cheering my character in a rhythm clap.
“LI-ON-ESS! LI-ON-ESS! LI-ON-ESS!!!” I coaxed them to keep chanting with my hands, going in time with their claps.
“Pardon my language but that performance definitely had balls.” Niecy said which made all of us laugh.
“This is definitely the first time in Masked Singer history that someone was even able to do that with costumes like these.” Robin said.
“Lioness tell us how do you feel after that performance?” asked Niecy.
“Tired.” That got a good laugh out of the audience and the panel. “But it’s all worth it cause it’s either go big or go home. And I definitely do not wanna go home just yet.”
“Well we definitely don’t want you to go Superstar.” Jenny told me.  I gave her a heart shape ‘I Love you’ with my hand and pointed at her and she accepted it and sent one back to me.
“So any clues that you guys might’ve picked up on?”
“I’ll start off.” Ken said.
“Oh boy, here we go.” Robin said as Nicole laughed and I placed my hands on my hips.  This outta be good Dr. Ken.
“Okay so in this clue package we saw the acronym MSG. What’s that stand for? Madison. Square. Garden. This actress was born in Manhattan, NY. She can sing because she played a Porcupine in a film this my friends is none other than Black Widow herself, SCARLETT JOHANSSON!!”
“No! No way that’s Scarlett!” exclaimed Jenny.
“Have you seen the movie Sing? That’s totally her voice!”
“No it’s not!” Jenny argued back.
“Maybe not but Lioness might be connected to Scarlett in a way.”
“What you got cooking in that brain of yours Mr. Robin Thicke?” Niecy asked him.
“Well going through the clue package we saw the LGBTQ obviously, she is known for speaking up for the community especially since a few friends of hers are a part of that community. I’m gonna go with Nicole and say this is the Rock Angel.”
“Okay. Okay not a bad guess.”
“Just hearing the voice alone it just makes me think of her.”
“Yeah but the Rock Angel wouldn’t be able to do what Lioness did.” Jenny tried to argue.
Oh she don’t know me very well, does she? I’ve got some moves in these old bones Jenny.
“Well whoever is under that mask. This was definitely your best performance not only for you but for the show itself. I don’t think we’ll ever have a number quite like that again.” Nicole said.
“I agree girlfriend. Alright Lioness, you head on backstage and rest up. You’ve earned it honey.” I waved to the audience and left to go backstage.
“That was probably the—toughest performance of my life. With or without the costume.” I laughed.  “But I gave it my all and win or lose, I’m glad I did this show.”
After the elimination of the newest Wildcard the Bulldog.  Which wasn’t according to the votes, but by Niecy’s own will, Bulldog was revealed to be none other than Nick Cannon.  Who had returned to host the show after recovering from his COVID scare.
It was a huge surprise to see him back and actually competing in the show.  Although he wished he could’ve gone onward with the show but he was just happy to be back with the judges and to see us progress onward into the final few rounds.
After that filming, I was in my trailer resting after that performance, having the fan on full blast to try and take away my sweat, I phone rang and I saw Brian’s handsome, wrinkly face pop up on the screen.
“Hey Bri what’s up?”
‘Oh nothing much really. Just been……fiddling around with Red Special, keeping Anita company, and above all trying not to lose our minds over the lockdown.’
“I hear yah. America’s really been trying to tighten the leash on restrictions. But of course stubborn Americans, especially Trump supporters are still denying this pandemic and refusing to wear their face masks.”
‘Right up arseholes I tell yah. This isn’t some conspiracy thing. It’s real life.’
“I know Brian. But let’s change the subject before you go off on an angry rant and have another heart attack.”
‘You’re right, you’re right sorry. The reason I called was because I want you to clarify something for me.’
“Clarify what?”
‘Well. I don’t know if you’ve seen my Instagram lately. But our followers are telling me that I should ask you if you’re a part of a show called the Masked Singer?’
“The Masked Singer? Which version? Cause you know we’ve recently got one too now.”
‘They’re saying that you could be the Lioness on the American version. Is it true?’
“Bri. Come on. I’m in lockdown with my son during a pandemic, I run on the high risk factor due to my recent high blood pressure. Why would I do a show like that?”
‘They’re pretty adamant about it. So come on (n/n). Tell me the truth.’
“No Brian Harold May. I am not the Lioness. Besides even if I were, it’d be too obvious. Everyone knows I’m Roger’s lion cub. If I were to choose a creature, I’d be a griffin or White-wolf.”
‘Okay. If you say so. Stay safe out there love.’
“You too Bri. Hopefully, America can get their shit together so that I can fly back home soon. I miss you and Rog and Jack. How are they by the way?”
‘Well that husband of yours is still working hard to preserve the peace in London. Hardly any serious criminal activity, just rotter’s not wanting to wear their face masks inside local buildings. Rog is good, he’s been posting up a lot more on his Instagram lately. Been asking about you and worried sick over you.’
“Some things never change. Alright Bri well I know it’s pretty late over there, so get some sleep. You’ve probably never slept in this late in so long your body must be aching for it.”
‘Yeah I suppose your right. Have a good night love. Love you.’
“I love you too Bri. Bye.” He said goodbye and I hung up on him.  “Bloody hell that was close. Thank god he didn’t hit facetime, otherwise he would’ve been suspicious.”
*ROUND 4*
Now it was time to change things up with this weeks performance.  I’ve been giving out killer hard-rock/pop songs but now it was time to allow the audience to just solely focus on my vocals alone.  Plus this performance was in dedication to a very special someone.
“Now here to wow us once again and seeing if we can dig up more clues on her identity. Here’s the Lioness.” Nick Cannon announced.
THE CLUE PACKAGE. THE LIONESS
“Being on this show has really meant a lot to me.” The screen showed my last performance as well as my 1st performance. “But now I’m gonna take things back and really allow you guys to get to know me.”
I was in my ‘house’ writing at my desk a letter. And on the laptop it said a number code. 149121.
“Oh wow a number code. 149121.” Jenny said.
“Throughout my career I’ve met a lot of great people. But unfortunately I’ve had to say goodbye to some of them, some gone far too soon. Others for other personal reasons.”
“So she’s lost someone. Maybe a partner.”
“This one person in particular even though he’s still around physically, I had no choice but to let him go. We practically did everything together. But I understood why he did what he did, and I never pressured him to come back to the spotlight.” I touched a shadow figure of a male lion. “So this performance is for my brother. And I hope he’s living out a happy life doing whatever it is he wants to. I will always love you forever, my Brother Mine.”
It was just me up there with the spotlight down on me.  I took a deep breath in before softly exhaling.  This one’s for you Deacy.  I opened my mouth and sung my next song, “I will always love you” by Whitney Houston.
The audience was in tranced by voice alone, some of them pressing their hands to their hearts and I could swear I saw some of the judges already starting to cry.  When the bridge came up, I thought back to all the memories Deacy and I had together.
Playing the bass, me sitting the Deaklings when they were little babies, us always dancing together at the after parties (after some liquid courage).  To the big moments whenever the two of us were on stage together and we’d interact with each other.
Him doing his “Disco moves” on stage during our sets, or how during the medley’s during the “Kind of Magic tour” we’d be the ones to stand together as he played his bass and I would have my acoustic guitar or tambourine on me.  Remembering his happy smile, the way his eyes wrinkled whenever he’d smile that adorable, gapped tooth smile of his.
*Me*
If I should stay, I would only be in your way
So I'll go, but I know
I'll think of you every step of the way
And I will always love you
I will always love you
I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you've dreamed of
And I wish to you joy and happiness
But above all this, I wish you love
Finally I unleashed the power that my voice had gained throughout the years.  As the lights danced about with the beat of the song as well as my voice, the audience cheered as I belted out that famed last bit of the chorus.  Some were in tears while others were just in awe.  Ken and Nicole were dabbing their eyes trying to rid of their tears while Jenny and Robin were just shaking their heads in pure awe.
I don’t know if you’ll ever see this Brother Mine, but if you do, know that this performance is for you.  I hope you’re happy, safe, and healthy.  Both physically and mentally.
*Me*
And I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always
Love you
I will always love you
I, I will always
Love you
You, darling, I love you
Ooh, I'll always,
I'll always love you
I held out the last note as I slowly extended my arms before finally ending the song.  The audience cheered and applauded for another killer performance.
“Unbelievable! The lioness really pulling the heartstrings now!” Nick said as he came up and stood beside me.  “You even had me going there for a second there Lioness.” I gave him a comforting pat on the shoulder.
“Oh my god Lioness, let me just say. Your last few performances you were slaying and killing it with hardcore dancing, rock and roll and semi-aerial stuff. But this week……we truly got to see your voice. And that—rawness it just……you have me in tears.” Nicole said as she continued to wipe away her tears.
“I agree with Nicole.” Robin said.  I gave them a bow of my head.  “It’s—it’s really rare when we see female artists do such songs on this stage. Especially one as difficult as that song in particular. But you were the perfect voice to sing that song.”
“Thank you Robin.”
“Now it’s time to find out just what is inside the Mind of our Lioness. If you would just quickly step on over to our mind-reader. We would like to see just what’s within your Lioness brain.” I walked over to the machine that was gonna give an extra clue as to who I was.  “Scanning, scanning, scanning and it is…..a Police badge.”
I stepped out from the machine and walked back towards Nick.
“Do we have another Jackson family member on our hands?” asked Ken.  I remember thinking back to La Toya Jackson who was “the Alien”.
“Unlike Ms. Jackson I’m not a police officer. But I am directly involved with them.” The audience ooed.
“That give you any guesses panel?” Nick asked.
“Not a single one.” Jenny shook her head which made us laugh.
“Indirectly involved with the police. I mean does that mean she’s an informant? Reality star maybe?” Ken suggested.
“Maybe she played one on TV. Maybe it’s Priyanka Chopra.” Robin added.
“Yeah cause of her role in Quantico.” Nicole agreed.
“No guys I don’t think it’s Priyanka. It really doesn’t sound like her. Lioness has a more richer tone than she does.”
“Well we’re stumped!” Ken said as he sat down on his chair throwing his hands up in surrender.
“Oh now don’t give up son!”
“I can’t do it daddy! Just take off the mask and show us who you are Lioness!” Ken demanded but I shook my head and placed my index finger over my masked lips in shush.
“She knows the drill. Well you wowed us with your vocals, go on and head backstage. Give it up one more time for her royal highness the Lioness everybody.”
“That performance……really took a lot out of me. I was even crying at one point under the mask. But I hope I secured a spot for the Super 8.”  As I take my leave, the infamous Cluedle-Doo shows up and he tells the camera.
“Another infamous secret you might want to know about the Lioness here is that she also has ties in with space. Look at these stars, does it give you any hints? Because 2 people she cares about study it.”
“Oh it’s you! Come back you yah cocky Rooster! I’m really gonna turn you into fried chicken now!” I exclaimed as I chased after the Rooster whose been trying to give away more secrets about me.  He gobbled out in laughter as he ran away.

The latest case has taken you guys to New York City. Everyone was exhausted, the unsub switched their motive 4 times, throwing you off each time. You had come to the conclusion that this was a man, but something seemed off. This was too clear and thought out to be a man. It wasn’t until Spencer caught the tiny detail of the red thread in the hair that got you back on track.
You and Luke had been canvassing the latest search area in hopes of finding something. It was already 7:30, you just wanted to head back to the hotel and take a nap with your boyfriend, Matt.
Emily called you right as Luke headed towards the hotel. “L/N, where are you guys right now?”
“We just got back to the hotel, what’s going on ?”
“Garcia just traced the last victim’s phone to 127 43rd St”
You looked around, the sign on the hotel said “235 46th St”. You sighed, motioning for Luke to turn around. “We’ll be there in 5 minutes, I’ll let you know if we find anything”
Luke drove towards the house “so much for rest” he yawned, you chuckled. “Oh come on, don’t fall asleep on me” You pinched his cheek playfully.  He pulled into the driveway, strapping his vest and getting out. You did the same and followed him to the door.
“F.B.I open up!” Luke banged on the door. There was no answer, he twisted the knob, the door opened.
Luke walked in first, you following closely behind him. “I’ll take upstairs, you check down here” Luke headed up the stairs. The two of you should have waited for backup but you didn’t bother. You could hear Luke’s footsteps above you as you walked into the kitchen. “It’s clear, I'm heading down” you shouted, Luke answering with an okay.
You went down the creaky stairs into the basement. The smell was rancid, you didn't know where exactly it was coming from but it was enough to make you want to gag. Taking out your flashlight, you walked further into the basement. You approached a door, debating if you should open it or wait for Luke.
“Luke come down here, I think I found something” you said into your mic. “Luke? Luke can you hear me?” Just your luck that the audio cut out. You decided you’d open the door, you had your gun with you, what’s the worst that could happen?
Pushing the door open, Kelly Henderson laid there, ropes holding her to the table. You rushed over to her to help her, pulling the tape off her mouth. “I’m y/n with the F.B.I, everything is going to be okay” You tugged on the ropes, unsure how to get them off without hurting her any further.
Footsteps treaded down the stairs, thinking it was Luke you called out to him.
“I found her!”
“I’m not your partner agent” This voice was much higher than Luke’s, the sound of her voice made you sick to your stomach. Your hand slowly reached down for your gun when you felt a sudden pain in your arm. The feeling of something dripping down your arm was what you felt, the bullet had grazed your arm.
The unsub ran up the stairs, you ran right behind, shooting at her. She headed up the stairs when you saw Luke knocked out on the floor. “Luke!” you ran over to check on him, seeing that he was fine but unconscious. You ran out the front door. “This is SSA y/n l/n requesting back up at 127 43rd St, we have an agent down” A crash came from the backyard, you unholstered your gun. The unsub had jumped down from the roof, falling into a table. She got up and started running, you tackled her before she could go any further. The two of you wrestled on the ground for a few minutes, pulling the gun away from each other, throwing punches. You had her pinned on the ground, your knees holding her in place. You reached behind you for your cuffs when a sharp pain shot through you. Falling back, you touched your stomach and lifted your hand to see the blood.
She shot you.
The last thing you remember was the sirens approaching the house and Matt shouting out your name.
-----
Matt sat beside your bed, his hand holding yours head resting on top of your hands. Your eyes fluttered open, the bright lights causing you to squint. Matt looked like he had been crying, your heart ached at that thought. You squeezed his hand, his head shooting up “Oh my god, you're awake” He pulled you into a hug causing you to wince. He pulled away and realized that you were still hurt, “Did you catch her?” He nodded “Tara shot her before she could get too far” you let out a breath of relief.
Matt looked at you “you broke your promise” looking at him confused, unsure what he was talking about. “What promise?” you asked him quietly, he scoffed. “You promised me you wouldn’t be reckless! you promised me!” Matt raised his voice at you. You leaned back against the pillow, remembering what you had said to him after your last hospital visit. You promised that you wouldn't be reckless and that you would wait for backup before running in. You knew it would be hard to do but you wanted to try, for Matt’s sake. “You have nothing to say y/n? seriously ?” he asked you, grabbing your chin forcing you to look at him. “You requested for backup and still didn’t wait for it. Why even bother calling?”
You sighed “I saw a chance and I took it. That’s the job babe, you can’t be upset with me. You know that I’ve been trying to think before running, for your sake but if I didn't do what I did, she would have been long gone.”
Looking at him, you hoped he’d reason with you. He held your hand “I’m sorry for yelling at you. I know what you mean, it’s just that I hate seeing you hurt”
“I know, but that's apart of the job”
“I’m not mad at you” he kissed your hand
“Well, I'd hope not. I just had a bullet pulled out of me for Hell’s sake” you smiled at him.

Your entire reblog on thay ask about poly hinges on the assumption that the people involved in the relationship are monogamous and finding ways to cheat out of their relationship. The original ask presented a situation with 3 women in a closed relationship with each other, and no mention of cheating or relationship problems outside of those found on regular couples. Most of what's been described by you guys happen to literally most relationships between men and woman. People using the label of polyamory to abuse others and serial cheaters are the same as people who fall in love with more than one person? Afraid of commitment if they are willing to be in a committed relationship with more than one person? I don't get it
Hello! Thanks for such a detailed question.
I'm not sure I'd say I was assuming the people involved 'are monogamous' in some innate way - I believe polyamory and monogamy are practices rather than fixed orientations. If someone's practising polyamory, they are currently not monogamous.
And I wouldn't even necessarily suggest these people (the people I know irl, which is what I specified in my post) are always consciously 'finding ways to cheat'. The way I'd put it is: the people I know who embraced polyamory after a history of cheating were presented with a flattering and attractively 'alternative' way of contextualising their pre-existing tendency to cheat. I think it's an emotional shortcut to suggest that 'the reason I cheated was because I was poly all along!' - it conveniently glosses over analysing the less palatable emotions that tend to motivate cheating in monogamous relationships, such as issues with attachment, fears about intimacy and dependence, desire for control and leverage over the other person, an addiction to novelty, etc etc. I also think that for people I know who were in poly relationships and then went on to cheat, there was often a history within those poly relationships of glamorising the nearness of the relationship to infidelity, and an attraction to that drama and danger and validation.
Re: a closed triad of women - I seem to remember that was a hypothetical situation, but nonetheless, I'm straight so I don't feel well-placed to comment on the interpersonal dynamics of lesbian polyamory and how that differs to straight forms of it - I'll leave that to SSA women.
I will say that I don't think bad behaviour in polyamory is limited to men. I know of women with narcissistic tendencies who sought multiple male partners - which, in practice, involved playing them off against one another in order to leverage unreasonable demands ('if you don't do this for me I'll have to ask X instead', 'yes we agreed I wouldn't ask this sort of stuff from X but if you're not doing it for me what choice do I have'), and the multiple partners providing 'backup' to her if one of them got fed up or broke away.
As for 'afraid of commitment if they are willing to be in a committed relationship with more than one person' - this is where I think we're talking from very different starting points. My opinion is that, if you're dividing your time between three different people, you are naturally not going to be subject to the highest level of commitment with them. Rather than three times the committedness of a single monogamous relationship, I perceive there to be a third of the commitment in each of those relationships. You might be getting all your 'needs met', but it's spread across three separate people who, because of your separate commitments, can't demand every one of their needs from you. If any of them are demanding a need from you that you can't or don't want to meet - well, you can just request that they outsource that need to another person. You see how that actually becomes a way of avoiding intimacy, rather than cubing it?
I'm more than aware of how dysfunctional and toxic monogamous relationships can be. I'm not suggesting monogamy is always healthy. But I also think that the most emotionally healthy, steady, functional, securely attached people tend to be much more drawn to monogamous relationships than poly ones. Your experiences may differ there. (I've heard people suggest that gay men in steady, contented relationships are able to engage in very functional 'monogamish' relationships - this may well be the case but again, I don't feel able to comment on the dynamics there with any authority, since none of the gay men I know are in this sort of 'monogamish' arrangement.)
I have a negative view of polyamory in large part because of my experiences with poly people in general, and one poly couple in particular. This couple exhibited poor boundaries around me and tried to drag me into their sexual/romantic lives in inappropriate ways: telling me that they talked about me while having sex (including on a night when I was sleeping in the other bedroom in the same flat, which was part of the frisson for them), asking me to 'fill in' for the woman on dates with the man (who was much older than me, I was 21), making a lot of fuss about how 'innocent' I was, etc. These particular events I cannot imagine coming from a monogamous couple - what would the goal have been in such a case? And of course, yes, this is only one couple. But I've seen similar traits, similar histories and personality types, in every poly person I've known, even if those traits haven't been focused as intensely on me. And it has felt natural to ask why these personality types in particular seemed to be so strongly represented in this subculture/form of relationship. To me, it doesn't seem as neutral a situation as 'these are people who just happen to fall in love with multiple people' - there has always seemed to be a more complex set of emotions underneath their desires.
And sure - maybe there are poly relationships that are blissfully functional. I just haven't seen nearly as many as I'd expect there to be, for them to be the rule and not the exception.
Thanks again for the ask! Hope this clarifies my perspective.

Once Upon A Time -  Criminal Minds Reader Insert
Pairing: Aaron x reader (previous),
Warnings: angst all the way, slightly cold Aaron, language
Word count: 1715
Reader used to date Aaron, but Aaron pushes the reader away. So the reader decides to marry someone else, and invites Aaron to the wedding, where Aaron realizes she is the one who got away
A/N: Here is the first part of my three part mini series. Reader does get with a character that many, if not all, of you know but I don’t want to ruin the surprise. This is an Aaron x reader fic though, despite the reader’s other relationship.
Tumblr media
Your POV:
You stood staring at his apartment door, debating if you should even be here at all. Aaron hadn’t talked to you in days, unless absolutely necessary at work. He had stopped using your first name, opting instead for your last. He wouldn’t even sit next to you on the jet. Rather, he had taken to sitting next to, and across from, the other team members, making sure an empty seat was never available near him.
After two weeks of this, you had had enough. Hence the reason you were standing in front of his door now. After another moment of hesitation, you decide to go for it and give the apartment door a hard knock.
You hear shuffling behind the door, followed shortly by a loud sigh.
“Look Aaron, I know you are in there. I can hear you. All I want to do is talk.” You say, the thought of him ignoring you making your heart ache.
The door in front of you slowly opens and reveals a tired looking Aaron. He has bags under his eyes, his hair is wild, pointing every which way, and he has the top three buttons of his wrinkled dress shirt undone.
You slip in the door, an intense throbbing pain consuming you as you now stand in front of him and see him like this.
“Aaron.” His name falls from your lips, the tone of your voice betraying how you feel. His eyes, the ones that have brought you so much comfort, are cold.
“What’s wrong?” You murmur softly, moving to take a step closer to him. He matches your step forward with a backwards one of his own.
“We can’t do this anymore.” He says stiffly. “We can’t. It’s done.” He is looking anywhere but at you.
His sharp words instantly bring tears to your eyes. Of all the things you thought he would say, this wasn’t one of them.
“W-why? What do y-you mean?” You stammer out through the tears.
“I just…” His voice cracks, showing the first sign of emotion since you entered his apartment. The next words out of his mouth stun you into silence. “I have a reputation to uphold.”
The tears were flowing freely down your face at this point. You don’t know what to say so you turn and rush out of his apartment. You don’t slow down until you reach your car and once there you drive to the only person you could stand to be around right now.
You scramble up the stairs to his apartment, tripping up the last few at the top. Once you reach his door, you knock furiously, too broken to care that it is around one in the morning.
A husky “I’m coming” sounds from inside the apartment. Not a moment later the door opens and a sleepy Spencer is staring down at you.
He scans your face before pulling you into a hug. “Y/N?” Once Spencer pulled you into his arms, you were crying again.
When you are able to speak coherently, you lift your face and look into Spencer’s comforting eyes. “Spence, he dumped me. And he didn’t tell me why. Just said he had a fucking reputation to uphold.” You spit out venomously. Spencer was the only one you had told once you started seeing Aaron and he hadn’t told a soul, which you were very grateful for in this moment.
Stepping back from Spencer’s embrace, you quietly ask, “Can I stay?” Spencer nods his head and grabs one of your hands, gently leading you to the couch. He turns on one of your favorite TV shows before bringing you close to his side. You lean your head on his shoulder and try your best to focus on the show, in hopes of ridding your mind of thoughts of Aaron. You don’t recall much after that, probably due to the fact that you found Spencer’s one bottle of wine and drank almost the whole thing by yourself, Spencer having only been able to nab a glass.
You awake the next morning on the couch with a pounding head and a queasy stomach. At first you weren’t sure what woke you up, aside from the obvious hangover, but then you heard it. A phone, which appeared to be yours, was buzzing on the coffee table.
Groaning, you stretch forward and grab it. “Yo.” You say quietly, not wanting to increase the pounding in your head. JJ’s stern voice immediately fills your head, not helping at all with the headache you had. “Y/N, I’ve tried calling you three times. We have a case in New Orleans and Hotch wants everyone at the debriefing in 30 minutes.”
“Shit, sorry JJ. I’m going and I’ll be there soon.” You end the call and quickly get up off the couch. You stumble to the bathroom, searching for the Tylenol, which you pop two off in hopes of getting rid of your headache. Next, you move to Spencer’s bedroom, knocking on the door. You hear a muffled “What?”, before you open the door.
You smile as you take in Spencer. He is sprawled across his bed, his comforter half hanging off both him and the bed, and you could tell his hair was absolutely wild.
“Spence, we have to be at a debriefing in 25 minutes.” He shot up and was out of bed in ten seconds, rushing past you towards the bathroom, grabbing a change of clothes on his way out.
You turn towards Spencer’s closet, intent on locating your backup outfit that you had stashed there. Having established a standing Saturday night TV show binge, alternating between either yours or Spencer’s apartment, combined with the fact that the two of you had crazy schedules, you had taken to keeping a pair of work clothes at each other’s place. And over the last two years you had yet to actually use your backup outfit, until today.
After a few minutes of searching you finally found your clothes. Eyeing the outfit, you let out a squeak of surprise. “What the hell was I thinking with this?” You huff out in frustration.
In your hands was a fitted, navy blue pencil skirt, a sleeveless black blouse, and a pair of black heels. Hell, you couldn’t even recall the last time you had worn heels. These were obviously clothes you had just wanted to get out of your closet because you had no intention of actually wearing them.
You didn’t have time to get pissed about your younger self’s idiotic choices, so you stripped down to your underwear and shimmy on the skirt, followed shortly by the blouse. A gray cardigan of Spencer’s catches your eye.
“Hey Spence?” You shout. He yells back an acknowledgement to which you respond with a question. “Can I borrow a cardigan?”
He strolls into the room, towel drying his hair, already dressed and ready to go. You feel a small twinge of jealousy at the fact he showered and beat you at getting ready. He nods and you swipe the cardigan off the hanger.
It was a few sizes too big for you, despite Spencer’s thin frame and just covered your butt, causing you to let out a sigh of relief. You grab your phone, purse and jacket from Spencer’s living room and follow him out the door.
The ride to the FBI headquarters was uneventful and despite your best efforts, the two of you still arrived fifteen minutes late. Spencer was panicking because of how tardy the two of you were but you could care less. Frankly, it excites you knowing that by being late you would be irritating Aaron. Despite the feelings you had for him, let’s be honest, you were madly in love with him and had been for a long time, you were deeply hurt by his actions.
The two of you walk into the debriefing room, causing a few pairs of eyes to glance your way, including Aaron’s. He glances at his watch but doesn’t say anything, even when Spencer starts apologizing profusely.
You sit in the free chair next to Morgan, which just so happens to be across from Aaron. You hardly hear a word Penelope is saying because you are so focused on Aaron. You watch him through the entire debriefing, looking for any hint of the pain you’re currently feeling.
The team is dismissed from the round table with “Wheels up in thirty.” Hotch breezes out of the room, followed shortly after by Rossi.
You wait a beat before heading towards your desk to grab your go-bag. Spencer joins you and the two of you head to the jet early.
You don’t feel much like talking and Spencer doesn’t push you. When you arrive at the jet, Spencer sits at the opposite end of the couch, pulling your feet into his lap.
“How are you doing Y/N?” He asks softly, eyes searching yours. You shrug. “It just really hurts.”
He gives one of your feet a squeeze before pulling a book from his bag. The two of you sit in silence for a while before the rest of the team filters in.
As the pilots start preparing for takeoff, Morgan turns around in his chair to look at you.
“Dang mama, you’re looking fine today.” He whistles slowly. You blush at Morgan’s words before responding, “Well someone had to give you a run for your money hot stuff.”
Out of the corner of your eye you see Aaron clench his jaw and narrow his eyes. “Let’s focus on the case please.” He cuts off any further conversation.
The flight to New Orleans went quickly and Aaron sends you and JJ to the precinct upon landing. The drive there is short and as the two of you enter the precinct you are greeted by a handsome, New Orleans native.
“I’m Detective Will LaMontagne and you two beautiful ladies must be from the FBI.” He flashes the two of you a bright smile, which you find yourself reciprocating.
“I’m SSA Y/F/N Y/L/N.” You reach a hand as JJ introduces herself.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you ladies.” His comment has you thinking that it certainly was a pleasure and you silently thank your younger self for what you are wearing.

i loved hotch’s top 3 parent moments, but what are his top 3 most defeated moments & how do the kids/mom help him cope/feel better
ooooh these got REALLY long so they’re going under a cut (they’re basically three drabbles so i included the ajf tag list (whoops))
a joyful future masterlist
1.
aaron comes back home from very long day full of infuriating people and politics, and isaac has left everything all over the living room floor. he trips on something (probably shoes) and breaks. he doesn’t get mean or anything, but his bark is definitely harsher than he intended. isaac is so so upset, and he holes himself up in his room. aaron feels awful, instantly. mom runs interference, and spends some time in the dark with isaac so he can calm down with minimal stimulus. when isaac is ready, mom goes back into the living room and finds aaron distraught, his head in his hands.
“i promised myself i wasn’t going to become my father.”
mom just wraps around him like a koala and is like “you’re not. you just had a bad day. for god’s sake, jack snapped at me over something ridiculous yesterday, and isaac and soph got into a knock-down drag-out fight last week about a puzzle while caro was simultaneously throwing a tantrum about fruit snacks. we’re all allowed to have bad days, and you can make it right. he’s a smart kid - just tell him what’s going on and remind him that you’re not upset with him and that you love him.”
aaron goes to isaac’s door, knocks, and waits for isaac to tell him he can come in. aaron sits at the foot of his bed, waiting. they sit in the dark for a long time, and isaac eventually crawls into aaron’s lap. his dad tells him everything that happened in his day at work, and rounded it all off with “it was wrong of me to get upset with you, little man. it wasn’t your fault, and i love you more than anything, all the time, no matter what. i’m so sorry, and i hope you can forgive me.”
“i can.”
mom walks in later to find them asleep, aaron propped against the headboard with his ankles crossed, isaac sprawled across his chest.
2.
when the girls are older, maybe 14 or 15, he puts his foot down about an out-of-town concert with a friend and their older brother. the concert is a few days away, and sophia mentions it over dinner.
without really meaning to, he goes into full drill sergeant mode and gets a little too specific about all the things that could go wrong. it was very clear in the moment that the topic was not up for discussion, that he was not under any circumstances going to allow the girls to go to a concert a couple hours away with only a nineteen year-old college sophomore as a supervisor.
it turns into one of those “i hate you you never let me do anything” teenager moments. sophia gets up and shuts herself in the garage with the treadmill and runs until she’s tired, showering and going straight into her room without a word or glance in his direction. caroline really quietly sets her napkin on the table, and leaves out the back door, headed for the porch swing that faces the back of the property. she, too, goes to bed without saying goodnight.
mom doesn’t say anything in the moment, and they finish dinner with the boys (isaac, now 16 or 17, and elliot, now 10 or 11) and get them ready to wind down for the night. when they settle into bed, he starts to doubt himself.
“i was too hard on them, wasnt i?”
before mom can answer, aaron gets a call from jack (now 26 or 27) on his cell. he tells him that sophia tattled to him about the concert, and he didnt mention this to them, but he’d be okay taking the day off work to take them and their friends, and even find a spot to stay overnight so they aren’t out driving late.
mom eavesdrops. aaron tells jack to hold on a second, and mutes him. mom says that would be a good compromise and reminds him that they aren’t little anymore, and they can mostly fend for themselves (thanks to a few weeks’ worth of self-defense with derek over the summer). “i know it’s hard, honey. i can’t say i’m wild about it either, but if jack goes, i’d feel a lot better about that than the alternatives.”
he sighs, kisses her, and tells jack that would be alright. “i’ll go down the hall and tell them.”
“have some sucking up to do, old man?”
aaron just rolls his eyes and hangs up before walking down the hall. he knocks on the door, and two flat “what”s come from the other side of the door. he opens it, and finds caroline and sophia facing each other from their beds on either side of the room. he could tell they were talking shit, the set of their mouths giving them away.
they’re looking at him like he’s goddamn war criminal. he pulls caro’s desk chair and sits backward on it in between the ends of their beds. “your brother has very graciously offered to take friday off of work to take you and your friends to the concert and spend the night in norfolk with you.”
“so, you’re letting us go?”
he tries not to let the biting resentment in sophia’s tone get to him. “i am. i’m sorry for coming down hard on you at dinner. it was wrong of me, and i understand that it could feel like i don’t trust your judgement. i do.” he looks at them each in turn. “it just freaks me out a little that you’re getting older a lot faster than i thought you would.”
caro’s lip wobbles, and she throws her covers back and crosses to him, giving him a hug. “thank you. we’ll be good, i promise.”
“i know, my little love.”
it takes him a little while to get back into sophia’s good graces, but when he picks them up from jack’s apartment at the end of the weekend, she can’t stop talking about how much fun she had. he’s pretty sure he’s forgiven.
3.
its when he first starts dating mom that jack starts to act out. he’s usually a really well-tempered kid, but sometimes he’d snap at her or withdraw and it made her feel awful. there were definitely a couple of nights were he’d snap at her over something small and she would retreat to the back bedroom to take a minute. it wore on aaron to tell her that she wasn’t an imposition, that she wasn’t replacing haley, that she isn’t his second choice or ‘the backup’
they both have this moment of total defeat - they’ve known each other for so long, and jack has known her most of his life, but the change in relationship status really brought up a lot of stuff for the kiddo.
mom comes around faster, learning to understand that jack is just adjusting and having trouble with the idea that there’s a semi-permanent female figure in his life, and that his dad’s attention is divided. thus, when aaron inevitably breaks down about it, she’s there.
“i feel selfish. maybe i shouldn’t have -”
“aaron. we are doing everything we can to make this an easy adjustment for him, but it’s difficult.”
“but nothing’s changed! you’ve been here for five years.”
“love, everything’s changed, and we’ve only been dating for a couple of months. that’s a lot for someone who’s barely seven. you’re not selfish, you’re not a bad parent. you haven’t made a bad judgement call. he’s just really young and is having trouble handling these very big changes in his home landscape.”
so aaron finds a therapist for jack to see twice a week, figuring it was a good idea anyway with all the trauma he may or may not remember. it’s still sucky for a while, but as jack starts implementing the coping mechanisms he learns and mom takes on a role closer to a peer or friend than a parent, things get a lot easier.

Until Death (Part 5)
Tumblr media
SSA ✧ Red Hood ✧ 1 ✧ 2 ✧ 3 ✧ 4 ✧ 5 ✧
Jason frowns at the sound of his alias escaping your lips but don’t see it. You turn around and swallow a sob before you walked away.
“Damn, Jason! How heartless!” Roy has been giving Jason a hard time for the past half hour in Roy’s apartment since Jason told him what happened between the two of you. “The girl goes out of her way to search for you, gets chased by bad guys, falls off a roof, and then you just tell her you never wanted to meet her?”
“What?” Jason snaps back, “Should I have lied? Tell her I’ve been dreaming about the day when we’d meet?”
Roy rolls his eyes to the side, a small smirk playing on his lips,  “Weeell…” Jason stares at him as he waits. “Before you, you know,” Roy makes a gesture of cutting his throat with his thumb, making Jason glare at him, “you did brag a lot about the day you’d meet your soulmate you know. When you were still a Titan--”
Jason physically shuts Roy up by covering his mouth with both of his hands. He glares at him with wide eyes and raised brows but Roy can see the blush covering his cheeks, “That was years ago.”
Roy removes his friend’s hands from his face, “That was three years ago and that was you. At least one type of Jason.”
Jason turns away from him, “I’m different now.”
Roy doesn’t believe him one bit. Three years is a good time to change a person but not enough to completely forget who they were. “And you’re scared she won’t like you?” Roy stares at Jason who stubbornly makes a show of lying down on the floor and staring at the ceiling instead of him. “How are you going to know if you never try~” Roy lets his sing-song voice echo in the room but Jason doesn’t budge.
Then Roy stops abruptly and Jason watches him close his eyes. He waits for a while before Roy opens his eyes again.
    “Your soulmate?” Jason asks.
“Yeah, she’s done with class. Sorry, bro, duty calls.” Roy kicks himself off his bed and packs his last-minute-superhero-bag-disguised-as-an-ordinary-gym-bag. “She took military science this semester and I’m helping her write a paper on reconnaissance.”
Jason frowns, “Don’t tell me. You’re letting her experience it first hand?”
Roy chuckles, “You’re skeptical. I see that but once you meet her. Oh, boy. You’re going to wish you have her for backup.”
Jason watches as one of his closest friends hum while he packs away more gadgets for his trip. “How do you do it, Roy? Having somebody else’s thoughts in your head?”
Roy pauses at the sudden seriousness of Jason’s voice, more serious than usual. “It’s not all bad. You know when you’re thinking to yourself, trying to find answers to life’s dilemmas?” he asks and waits for Jason to respond but he doesn’t so Roy scoffs. “And then suddenly someone actually answers you. It’s like God answering your prayers or something. It feels good talking to somebody.”
“Sounds just like having comms on a mission.”
“Exactly. And life’s a mission, Jay.” Roy teases as he opens his door and steps out. He leans in gives Jason a goodbye kiss in the air. “And you better get on with yours.”
Roy shuts the door to his own apartment and leaves Jason lying on his floor feeling miserable and antsy.
Later that same evening, it doesn’t take long for Jason to track you down. No, not all because much to his displeasure, you are still looking for answers regarding his death. Now that you know he’s the Red Hood, it has lead you to even deeper shit than you can imagine.
“Lookie here, boss. One just came straight to our lap.” One of Black Mask’s goons drops you on the floor like a garbage bag and you land on your wrists tied behind your back.
You bite against the cloth wrapped along your jaw and you glare hard at the crime lord standing tall and menacing in his diamond-clad black suit. He squats down and stares at you with his face only a few inches away. You can smell the tobacco and scotch in his breath mixed with the stench of the black paint of his mask.
“Gutsy,” he turns back to one of his goons, “Definitely has enough spunk to be a soulmate of one of those do-gooders.” Black Mask looks you over from head to toe making you tense under his gaze. “What does she have?”
One of his men steps up and harshly grabs your wrists to show his boss the faded timer on your hand.
He frowns, “Timer link, huh. Luthor would have paid big money for you if your timer hadn’t run out.” He turns his eyes away from your wrist and looks back at you in the eye, “Seems you’ve met your soulmate then.”
“She was walking around asking people about the Red Hood.”
Black Mask’s eyes widen and fill in the sockets of his mask. He stands up quickly and smacks the man who spoke. “You idiots!” he bellows at them. “Get her out of here!”
The man holding you quickly let you go and backs away. You quickly stare in shock as you and the rest of the men in the warehouse watch the Black Mask trudge along the ends of the table spouting rushed instructions to his men. “Do you all want to die tonight?”
Then one loud bang of metal hitting the cement floor steals everyone’s attention. You turn your head away from the Black Mask and find the Red Hood with his knees bent, head down, and an AK-47 in his hands.
“Yes,” he says as he straightens his posture and rests the assault rifle on his shoulder, “It does seem like you want to die tonight.”
The men are inching away from the Red Hood and Black Masks grits his teeth as he tries to keep still against the table. “Here for your girl, Red?” Black Masks snarls at him. “It doesn’t look like you’re here to save anyone with that gun you’re carrying.”
You stare at Jason. Black Mask has a point. The rifle isn’t the best gun for a rescue mission so he must be here more for an assault. Less for you. Or not at all.
The Red Hood laughs with his chest, making the Black Mask flinch. “Oh,” he says as he straightens up and leans forward, “I’m just the appetizer.”
You feel the vibration of the whole warehouse before you heard the crash of the ceiling on the other side of the warehouse. You cower until all of the debris has fallen and then you quickly take a look and find Superman floating down from the gaping hole. Much faster, you see a familiar broad-shouldered silhouette glide in and land right onto Black Mask’s face.
You’re too busy watching the Justice League round up Black Mask and his men that you instantly flinch at the feel of someone touching your wrist. It’s the Red Hood. He raises his hands, “Are you hurt?”
You stare for a moment before you look down, “I-- I think one of my wrists is broken.” You hear him click his tongue and hear a switchblade slice through the ropes around your arm. Gently, he helps you take them off. You rub your wrists and confirm that one of them is definitely broken.
“Does she need medical attention?” the sudden presence of Wonder Woman startles you.
“Not critical, but her wrist is broken.”
“I-I’m fine,” you utter in sudden embarrassment. It’s not a feeling you’re used to, being fussed over. Especially by a whole league of heroes.
Batman approaches the three of you and he immediately kneels in front of you. He holds out his hand and tentatively you offer up your broken wrist. He takes out a makeshift wood splinter and lays it under your palm.
“I can do it,” both you and Batman quickly turn to the Red Hood. He’s already squatting down and holding out his hand. Batman hands you over and gives him a roll of medical tape. You watch as the Red Hood slowly aligns the wood along your forearm. He takes one end of the tape and presses your fingers down on it with his palm.
“I saw the look you gave me back there,” his voice suddenly jolts you and he has to align the wood again before he can start wrapping. When he spoke again, he sounded like he was pouting, “You didn’t actually think I would put you in harm’s way, right? That rifle was just in case I had to break my way through some of his guys but mostly it was just for show.”
You stare up at his mask and wonder what face he’s making underneath. You look back down and watch in awe at how gentle he’s treating your arm. “I’m sorry,” you blurt out, making Jason stop.
After a moment he starts again, “What the hell do you have to be sorry for?”
You try to fake a laugh, “For putting myself in danger and then having to have you and the League get involved.”
“First of all, are you dense?” He uses his head to point towards the League escorting Black Mask and his men out of the warehouse and towards the incoming police lights. “This is exactly what heroes are supposed to do. I was looking for you and Batman told me Black Masks’ men had you. So he and the rest of the League got involved.”
You suddenly go quiet and sharply turn back to the Red Hood, making him flinch. You wanted to ask why he was looking for you but you’re thinking too much and all you got out was one word. “Why?”
The Red Hood sighs, bored as if he’s just de-briefing on a mission, “Someone’s been targeting superhero soulmates, kidnapping them, and then having their links stolen or broken. It’s what happened to Superman and his soulmate.”
Your fingers tense as he finishes up wrapping up your wrists. Would he want that? You wonder if Jason would have been happy if they had been successful. Your voice comes out as a whisper, “You said you never wanted to meet me. Do you wish they could have taken away our links before we met?”
You can tell he’s watching you under his mask.
“I doubt they could have. Not even death kept us apart.”
Quickly, he stands up and offers a hand, “Can you stand?”
You were completely phased by the sudden change of topic and his non-answer. You resorted to stubbornly staring at him and remaining rooted on the warehouse floor. The Red Hood groans under his mask and then squats back down, with his back facing you.
“I’ll take you home and then I’ll give you my answer, deal?”
Again that surprises you. He pretty much answered you, right? If he didn’t want to meet you he would have just said no right away like he did weeks ago. Slowly you climb onto his back. As soon as you secure your arms around his neck and his arms wrap around your thighs to hold you up, he says, “I’ve wanted to meet you for as long as I can remember, Y/N.”
