Baseball Films
If anybody feels like watching a good baseball movie or documentary now that the season is over, here are some good ones I watched/rewatched recently:
The Rookie - Dennis Quaid stars in this movie about Jim Morris, a high school science teacher and baseball coach, who gets a second chance to fulfill his dream of becoming a Major League pitcher. (Based on a true story)
Moneyball - Brad Pitt plays Billy Beane in this movie based on the Oakland Athletics' turnaround to analytics, which changed the way the game is played. (Based on a true story)
Four Days in October - This documentary is about the 2004 ALCS when the Boston Red Sox came back and won the series after being down 3-0 to the Yankees; to this day, this is the only time in the game's history this has ever happened.
The Day the Series Stopped - This film documents the 1989 world series, often called the "Battle of the Bay" due to the teams being the San Francisco Giants vs. the Oakland Athletics. During the third game of the series, one of the worst earthquakes to ever hit California struck, leaving many dead and injured, but bringing together the community with the love of the sport.
The Sandlot - A true classic, this comedy about a group of ragtag kids who love playing baseball is a great watch for anybody who wants to laugh. (Based on a true story)

Manny walks, Kim singles him to third, Jurickson singles Manny in to tie the game. Campy hits a blooper to right-center to load em up with nobody out. Wade hits a groundball to first, initially called safe on a missed tag then called out for being out of the base paths, HSK scores for a Padres lead and the rally goes on with runners at 2nd and 3rd and 1 out.
Tumblr media
Fielder's choice to get the lead runner and pop out by X to end the inning, ballgame is 2-1 friars through 5.
In the 6th ever dynamic Tatis goes first to third on a weak grounder to pitcher Logan Webb who gets the batter runner at first but the throw to third is late, unfortunately Manny and Azocar (pinch runner for Profar in the previous inning) are unable to bring him in.
2 in scoring position for the Giants as there's a fly ball to center, throw home is cut off as the runner who reached second on a passed ball tagged and was gunning for third. Runner at third tags and reaches home safely, runner at second caught in pickle and called out. Game is 3-2 Giants as we stretch. Real nailbiter, this one.
Tumblr media
Campy leads off the seventh with a single, reaching third on a single by T-Wade, San Diego has runners on the corners with nobody out. Pitch in the dirt not fielded cleanly, throw to second hits Nick Ahmed IN THE FACE bouncing into center field, Campy scores. Tyler reaches third safely. Padres tie the game once again. Merrill walks, runners at the corners with nobody out, SF hits the pen.
Tumblr media
Xander singles to center left to score another run giving Padres a 4-3 lead in the 7th. Let's FUCKING GO, X! Croney doubles to score two more and build insurance for the Padres lead.
Tumblr media
4-6 Padres will be your final score thanks to 1.2 scoreless innings by Yuki Matsui with the game being closed out by Robert Suarez who allowed a homerun with two outs in the ninth before recording the final out of Padres opening day. Matsui is credited with the win and Suarez the save.

My friend created an art prompt called "Stealing Your Drip" a while back, here are various ones I did with my fursona Penelope (posting more for myself in case something happens to the original files again):
Tumblr media
Outfits in order: - Harley Quinn (from The Harley Quinn Show on HBO Max) - The Onceler (from The Lorax (2012), specifically his shithead capitalist outfit because it unironically rocks) - Two frog-themed outfits I saw in memes - Steven Universe (from Steven Universe: The Movie) - Simon Petrikov (from Adventure Time) - Princess Bubblegum (from Adventure Time, specifically her lab outfit from season 5 episode 21 "The Suitor") - Margo (from Hands Up by Joel G on YouTube, specifically her outfit from "Rhythm And Ambush") - Patrick Bateman (from American Psycho) - Crazy Crab (old mascot for the San Fransisco Giants baseball team (I adore him <3))
Later I did it again:
Tumblr media
Outfits in order: - Gluntz (from Green Eggs And Ham on Netflix) - Funny outfit that Dan Howell on YouTube wore one time - Pearl (from Steven Universe, specifically her second and longest-running form) - Yesss (from Wreck It Ralph 2, a movie I do not care for, but Yesss' first outfit slays so hard that I couldn't NOT draw it) - Magic Betty (from Adventure Time, specifically the outfit she's most associated with) - Marceline The Vampire Queen (from Adventure Time, specifically her outfit from season 3 episode 10 "What Was Missing")
Third time:

Hands Up by Joel G on YouTube is a very enjoyable webseries, and I LOVE these outfits that Margo and Ula wore, so I drew my fursona in them too. I believe I posted the first one a while back on this blog, but that's alright; it's part of this prompt!
The most recent one:
Tumblr media
The outfit came from a funny meme featuring a very well-dressed person with someone saying "some outfits gotta stay in the closet bro" and then a reply that was like "he's out here Wonkamaxxing and you want to put him in what, a snapback and hoodie? awful people". I, for one, admire the Wonkamaxxing.
That's it.

As the break following the Seoul series finally draws to a close, the boys are finally playing in petco again!
For a spring training series against the Mariners because this season's scheduling is a mess. First regular season series at home will be against the giants. Snell is not expected to pitch in that series, BoMel didn't give a timeline for him.
Honestly if there's a time you wanna face Snell it's early in the season while he's still snelly cat, before making the midseason transformation to Snellzilla.
It'll also be interesting to see how he pitches without Niebla, whom Blake always spoke very highly of. Michael King was hesitant about signing with the Padres but Corey Kluber also has nothing but positive things to say about our pitching coach. Definitely one of the unsung heroes in the organization. He also got hooked last season sticking up for the boys, which you gotta love.

The man is worth $44bn but couldn’t afford to keep 3,700 employees? And a lot of those layoffs were women?
Two women who lost their jobs at Twitter during mass layoffs after Elon Musk took over the company are suing, claiming that the company disproportionately targeted female employees for cuts.
The discrimination lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal challenges to hit the company after Musk, the world’s richest person, bought the company for $44bn and set about making swift, drastic changes including laying off around half its workforce, or roughly 3,700 employees. Hundreds more subsequently resigned.
The new suit, filed on Wednesday in San Francisco federal court, said that Twitter laid off 57% of its female workers compared with 47% of men.
The gender disparity was more stark for engineering roles, where 63% of women lost their jobs compared to 48% of men, according to the new lawsuit.
The lawsuit accuses the company of violating federal and California laws banning workplace sex discrimination.
Shannon Liss-Riordan, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said women “had targets on their backs” once Musk acquired the company,
regardless of their talent and contributions.
“It’s not a huge surprise unfortunately that women were hit so hard by these layoffs when Elon Musk was overseeing these incredibly ad hoc layoffs just in a matter of days,” Liss-Riordan said at a press conference in San Fransisco discussing the four class action lawsuits she has filed on behalf of former Twitter employees.
Wren Turkal, one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, said she had been through acquisitions at other companies but that she had “never seen anything like this”.
“I have a family, I have a kid to support,” Turkal said at the press conference. “All that we’re looking for is fairness. I’m also worried about my friends who are financially in a difficult position or are in a difficult position for visa reasons.”
Liss-Riordan represents current and former Twitter employees in three other pending lawsuits filed in the same court since last month.
Those cases include various claims, including that Twitter laid off employees and contractors without the advance notice required by law and failed to pay promised severance, and that Musk forced out workers with disabilities by refusing to allow remote work and calling on employees to be more “hardcore”.
At least three workers have separately filed complaints against Twitter with the US National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) claiming they faced retaliation for advocating for better working conditions. Liss-Riordan said that she has also filed a complaint with the NLRB on behalf of employees who were protesting policies Musk was implementing including the “abrupt return to office” policy.
“It’s very clear that this company is doing all it can to disrupt worker organizing and that’s also illegal,” she said.
Twitter has denied wrongdoing in the lawsuit involving advance notice, and has not responded to the other complaints.
The lawsuit comes as Musk’s company continues to face scrutiny on multiple fronts. This week the company came under under investigation by city officials in San Francisco following a complaint that the company allegedly converted rooms in its headquarters to sleeping quarters.
As of Monday, the office has “modest bedrooms featuring unmade mattresses, drab curtains and giant conference-room telepresence monitors” with four to eight beds a floor, employees told Forbes. The changes appear to be part of Musk’s plan for a more “hardcore Twitter” in which he has demanded workers dedicate “long hours at high intensity”.
“People’s livelihoods are at stake here,” Liss-Riordan said at the press conference. “Real people were impacted by these decisions.
“Of all the issues facing Elon Musk, this is the easiest to address: treat the workers with respect, pay them what they deserve under the law,” she added.
