Decline
"During the life cycle of a Star Child, the end of the Puffball stage is marked by the absorption of negative energies and the breakdown of positivity, transitioning into the Decline stage. During this transition and phase, the Star Child exhibits signs of conflicting instincts and loss of physical stability, which may include drippy appearance, ocular abnormalities, graying or blackening of the skin, aggression, apathy, violent tendencies, emotional outbursts, rash behavior, despair, and, towards the end of the Decline stage, complete descent into madness.
"Upon the complete loss of positive emotion and corruption by negativity, the Star Child moves on to the final stage, the Dark Matter stage."
(program: Krita; time taken: about 3 hours 30 minutes)

whoops
Well, I thought I would use Scheduled Posts to make certain events pop up on the dates they happen -- because I’m often too busy to remember to post things myself. But clearly I screwed this one up, because it didn’t go out at all and I just spotted it in my queue. Two weeks late, but still worth a mention, so...
This is Little City Books, in Hoboken, NJ:
[Erases old text]
Two weekends ago was Hoboken Literary Weekend! As part of that, I did my first reading since covid began, here at this bookstore. (And since covid is still happening, please note that the store required masking -- I’d asked for that -- and kept doors and windows open with good air circ.)
The City We Became came out in March of 2020, so the book tour I’d been planning back then understandably got cancelled. Three hundred years and another book later, this event ended up being my first chance to do a classic bookstore talk with local readers about some snarky-but-typical characterizations of neighborhoods/boroughs/satellite cities that the books made. It went great, at least afaic. Full house, lots of good questions, and nobody was mad -- noticeably, anyway, lol. Most folks basically shrugged and went, “Yeah, well, there are a lot of bros.”
All that said, I also signed some stock, so Little City Books probably still has autographed copies of all of my works to hand, if you want to order some from them. Support indie booksellers!

It's taken me seven months to realize that I paralleled Emmet having dreams about a blurry recollection of his brother telling him to come home with Ingo having a nightmare about a distorted version of Emmet telling him that he failed entirely in Pandemonic Paradise.
They both feel like they're failing the other, but in different -- yet similar -- ways. Emmet can't come home yet, and is making his lookalike wait; Ingo failed Emmet entirely, and believes that Emmet is dead as a result of that negligence.
Both are manifestations of feeling an absence, albeit in different contexts, and both wreak a level of havoc on their recipient's mindset.
I reiterate, this was unintentional. The things I realize at three in the morning sometimes, man.

I was looking at my calendar, saw that Wednesday (today) was George Washington's birthday, and suddenly the image of Marilyn Monroe singing to him popped into my head. So here she is:
I don't think I'd ever actually seen the video before, just heard the audio, plus countless imitations and parodies.

Say bubs, anyone else having trouble with scheduling posts?
I've noticed for a while now that there's a delay between the scheduled time and actual posting time. Usually just a few minutes. But last night it took over two hours.
The post can't be found in the queue, nor has it posted. It's lost in limbo.
