In light of recent news, I'm polishing and sharing some aai2 snippets, bc once we get the new translation I'll have a whole new script to play with
This post has two snippets, bc they're both very short.
Takes place in my AA HDM AU, around when Miles meets Sebastian. The first is a "you pressed the wrong statement" scene, I think, while the second is an original bit that I'd have take place soon after the first time they see Sebastian's daemon shift.
The boy smirked. "Hmph. My pops always says… "You may be foolish in youth, but you must not be stupid"."
Miles waited for him to complete the odd argument.
…And kept waiting.
"I'm not stupid!" Debeste suddenly burst out, the daemon on his shoulder becoming some species of moth.
(Wh- What… Was that… uh…?)
Alethea shifted uncomfortably among the ruffles of Miles' jabot.
Judge Courtney cut in. "He means he's not stupid enough to tell a lie."
".....Oh? I- um- I knew that!" Debeste's daemon changed again to imitate Courtney's newt daemon. "I'm not stupid enough to lie! So the fingerprints are the honest truth!"
"Miles…" a soft voice whispered against his jaw, "Something's not right here."
"With the case?" Miles murmured back, "Obviously."
"Not the case!" she hissed, "The prosecutor! Doesn't his behavior remind you of anyone?"
"Uh… no?"
Alethea huffed. "Idiot!"
— —
"Miles, that prosecutor…" said a quiet voice by his jaw, "he's still unsettled. Don't you find that odd?"
Alethea had a point. Most employers wouldn't so much as consider someone unsettled, as an unstable personality is considered a sign of unreliability — and that included the bar association. What had this boy done to acquire his badge so young?

on the subject of dilfs oh my god i need my head examined fathers, let’s pour one out for job skeffington
he’s such a precious little guy that i need carnally deserves me the best
FANNY SKEFFINGTON, YOU BETTER WATCH OUT BEFORE I JUMP YOUR ASS AND TAKE YOUR MAN😡😤
he’s such a girl dad, ugh 😩
unrelated, but are there any Claude characters that you see as girl dads or boy dads? 🥺👉👈
Job is such a sweetheart! I love him so much. 💜 Oh! Good question, Nonnie! Okay so here’s my opinion just off the top of my head based on first impressions/vibes.
Girl Dads (Including dads that thought they wanted sons but have their world changed by their girls instead): Job Skeffington, Paul Ward, Adam Lemp, Alexander Hollenius, Fred Martingale, Art Harper, Howard Justin, Louis Renault, Andrew Thurgood, Jack Griffin, John Stevenson, Captain Freycinet, Henry Halevy, Erique Claudin.
Boy Dads (including dads that have daughters but wanted sons instead): Jim Masters, Sir John Talbot, Mayor of Hamelin, Leonard Eldridge, Professor George Edward Challenger, Edward Seymour, Marquis Don Luis, Dr. Alexander Tower, John Jasper, Don José Álvarez, Ambrose Pomfret.
Dads who wouldn’t have a preference: Chris Farris, Mr. Jordan, Nick, Maximus, Dr. Jaquith, Kees Popinga, Nutsy.
Characters that probably wouldn’t be dads: Victor Grandison, Alexander Sebastian, Aristides Mavros, Professor Benson, Elisha Hunt, Father Amion, John Fabian, Lee Gentry, Frederick Lannington, Charles Gresham, Prince John, Stefan Orloff, Paul DeLambre.

Writing Update 05
Guess who finished. guess. go on guess. That’s right it was me!!
It was pretty intense because my playlist had finished and so I was sat feverishly typing the last paragraph out in silence and then when I went round for the final spell check I was listening to Achilles Come Down by Gang of Youths and it finished as I finished and it was a moment.
So so so. in total we have
69069 words (nice) and 102 pages spread over 23 chapters and 5 parts. I can actually go into the plot and stuff now too because I know what that is from start to finish. I won’t go into that here I’ll just talk about the last chapters. Buckle up this ones gonna be long.
Whence last we left off there were 17 chapters and now there’s twenty-three. Chapter seventeen also has an actual name too so yay.
Chapter 17 – Pinches of Catgut
Chapter 18 – Yours Forever, Echo
Chapter 19 – Ink’s Tarnish
Chapter 20 – Red Room
Chapter 21 – Crosshatched Scars
Chapter 22 – Chasing Sundust
Chapter 23 – Amen
Chapter 17 originally is now what chapter 18 and chapter 23 isn’t really an epilogue but it also is y’know? Like the last two chapters are the endings in their own right (I say as if I didn’t stop reading The Darkest Minds seven pages from the end)
But c’est la vie!
Chapter 16 (I can finally explain this stuff woo) we had the fallout to the guy’s being told they have to pay the devil – who isn’t really the devil and is actually a god in his own right but that’s beside the point – back for everything he’s done for them. this one focuses on Valentine and Albert having a bit of a moment where I realised ‘oh gosh everyone is a foil to everyone oh gosh’
Chapter 17 is kinda the same but from William and Basil’s side where they have their own conversation about who Will killed Charlie by accident….yeah…William is still baby he just killed someone that’s fine. This is fine.
Chapter 18 is where shit hits the fan because oh my god James is back!!!!! Idk if I mentioned this but James is Enoch’s dead bf who wasn’t dead at all and I’ve been hinting at it the entre god damned book. I almost didn’t include it but after a talk with one of my friends I realised that James’ being alive would bring in more tea than ever before and well,,,,,,why wouldn’t I?
Oh yeah James also tells Enoch that everyone is coming to find them.
The way I'm explaining this seems like stuff just happens, but I swear I do add threads throughout! I'm just disjointed in my thought process.
Chapter 19 is the beginning of the end. We have a rush to pack as they’re trying to get out and they would have more help from James but Basil doesn’t trust James, Enoch is drunk, William has lost a lot of blood and both Al and Valentine had been asleep so they’re slow and groggy and it’s raining because England and winter and the coast is just a great combination.
Enoch and James end up going ahead cus people are getting close and they need to get their stuff away from there. There were three cases left to tie but they didn’t have time so while James and Enoch go ahead the others are carrying the last three cases to the docks so they can tie and run.
Chapter 20 is where Enoch wraps his beef with Aristide up. kinda. He originally planned on just saying goodbye but then stuff happens and he feels bad for Aristide so he just gives him to the devil without the murder part of it.
Chapter 21 valentine kills his uncle and gets closure™
Chapter 22 this chapter is so good. I love it, I love it so much. I'm still kinda feeling funky about it because its got a flashback and the rest of the book hasn’t got anything exactly like this – unless you consider the small titbit in chapter 17 a flashback. But I really delve into Sebastian’s psyche and before then I kinda hated Sebastian but it feels like he's had a whole ass character arch and I love it. I really love this chapter so much.
And finally chapter 23 is them running and the last of the setup for the next book
I want to include memes but they’re all old stuff. If I have anything new, I’ll insert it if not I’ll keep 5 random facts about the boy’s as my transition.
Albert
When he was a bab he wanted to meet keats before he realised the mans is dead.
Can write in shorthand in both Russian and English just so long as he doesn’t focus too hard on it
Albert is his middle name, Lyonya is his first name
Is a cat person.
Orders the same meal at every restaurant even if they don’t serve it. if they don’t serve it he has a tiny crisis.
Also defo has one of the others order for him
Basil
Defo a gifted and talented student if he was alive today
He's technically an accountant and low key enjoys it
Can fight but is a pacifist by choice
Skipped class once and got bored and never did it again
When they were still at school he would look after the groups deeds to land and do all the legal stuff for them because they had no clue. He still has all of Valentine’s papers and so could technically steal valentines land and nobody would care.
Enoch
Isn’t gay is actually bisexual
Is really good at science but just doesn’t care about it
He ate leek and potato soup exclusively for three weeks on a dare
Once played Mercutio and tripped on stage. Managed to hide it pretty well but hasn’t lived it down.
Would live in an old theatre if he could just for the aesthetic and bragging rights
Valentine
His family is of German heritage
Bakes as a stress relief but gets hyper focused on one thing for ages (tarts is the big one of the year)
Is the mum of the group but wouldn’t ever admit it
Cannot do maths for shit. or much else. He can just speak a lot and paint.
It’s a continuous joke irl and in novel universe that he’s called Valentine, but his birthday is on February 15th because his parents thought it was still February 14th when he was born.
William
Allergic to honey but would eat it anyway
Joined classes three years after everyone else
Is the only one in the group that understands people
Has a really bad centre of gravity and falls over a lot
He's 6’7
Bonus – a wild Sebastian appeared.
Acts 50 is 20
Is just brine
In a constant state of identity crisis
Was he born or did he just appear fully formed? Nobody knows
Always stuck as Benvolio. No matter what. forever. He hates it.
Excerpts! –
“you are a walking disaster.” Basil sighed
“I'm your favourite disaster though.” He could hear the smile in Enoch’s voice.
I just like these lines. Nothing too deep just thought they were funny.
Basil placed a hand on his knee hoping the rain could drown out what the music that followed William could not.
My mans being a supportive friend
He finished pulling the manuscript together and reached for the box Albert kept all his current writings in. it was a small box with darker patches between the broken veins where ink had spit and flowed between the cracks.
i have nothing to say about this
They only had real tenderness with some of the fragile things. A school given copy of A Midsummer Night's Dream, a book by a man called Sashenka Potemkin, teacups with still blooming meadows painted onto them, a book about a monastery, a violin case that had nail marks embedded into the leather, an easel.
Y’know keepsakes are Important but if you’re running shouldn’t you pack light? Probably but these guys are sentimental bastards
The shops were alive with people, the two pubs were open and selling even the tailoress was in business. He wasn’t entirely surprised; worms came out during a storm. They thrived when the squawking of the gulls had disappeared.
We live in a society – Enoch 2019
The gate yielded under his hand, the closest he got to acceptance in the high walls. It seemed colder once he’d walked into the threshold, urging him towards the sickening feeling of unbelonging that sat in his gut. It made him want to turn away and never come back some of the time. How much he didn’t belong there.
Sebastian is yearning™
Basil reached into Albert’s pocket and pulled the crocus out. Albert didn’t react as he did so. he stared at it twirling it between his fingers staring at the petals and their untarnished glory despite having been used to kill them all at least once.
And while that isn’t the last line that’s the end of this. I'm taking a break from beginning anything big and while I want to move onto writing Adalius, Ariane and Adionis’ story I’ll wait for a moment before I do. just because I cant bring myself to think about how I'm starting this yet.
Anyway. That means no updates for at least 3 weeks. I know you’re all distraught. But yeah.
I hope you have a good day.
Thanks for reading this!

Sebastian & F!Hawke (Past Handers)
Una Hawke stood frozen staring at the statue of what had once been Knight-Commander Meredith. How someone could be so tyrannical, so careless of others lives she didn't know. A part of her wanted to take her staff in hand and see if the statue would shatter. But the thought of red lyrium in shards and pieces possibly being picked up, perhaps even being smuggled away was enough to stop her.
“Is everything alright, lass?”
“Oh, Sebastian. Yes, everything is fine,” Una lied easily.
“You forced her hand and made her kill her lover. I doubt that 'everything is fine’” Fenris growled.
“You of all people wanted him alive? After what he'd done?” Sebastian argued.
“All he did was kill your precious Grand Cleric. Someone would have done it eventually. How can you see the other parts of Kirkwall, all the suffering people and say that the Chantry is justified in keeping that absurd amount of wealth to themselves? I disagree with his methods certainly but something did need to change,” Fenris said.
Una wished they wouldn't argue. It'd been hard enough to just get through the day.
“That's enough now, boys,” Isabela said in a honeyed tone.
“Can't you people leave her alone?” Varric sighed. “Head on home, Hawke. We'll deal with this,” he said, waving her off.
“Thank you, Varric,” Una murmured. She gripped her staff tighter and made her way back to the estate.
The loss of Anders still stung. It had been months ago and Una had done her best; going through the motions, putting on a happy face. It seemed to satisfy most people, save for Sebastian. He'd accused her more than once of 'simply paying lip service’ when the subject of Anders’ betrayal came up. As it often did if Sebastian had anything to say about it.
Una lay back in the bath. The water had long gone cold, any bubbles dissolved. None of it bothered her. She heard a commotion downstairs but was certain that it was just Sandal having fun.
“Messere, please. The Lady does not wish to be disturbed!” Bodhan said.
Una sighed.
“Sod it, if I want to see my sister, I'm going to,” Carver spat.
Una hustled out of the bath and wrapped herself in her favorite robe. She sat at her vanity and tried to look busy, she was reaching for her hairbrush when Carver burst in.
“Brother. A pleasure as always,” Una plastered on a smile.
“Stop making that face. It's weird. You don't have to pretend, you know. Not with me.”
Una let her face relax, the frown coming easily. “Thank you, Carver,” she murmured.
“So whose head do I need to knock around?”
“No one,” Una huffed.
“Yet,” Carver said with a smirk. “That stuffy Prince still bothering you? Seems no matter how many times people argue with him he won't see reason. Bet he thinks of old Elthina when he’s wanking off.”
“Carver Aristide Hawke!” Una groaned.
“What? I wouldn't put it past him,” Carver chuckled.
“He is strangely obsessed with her.”
“You're smiling,” Carver said smugly. “All it took was insulting Starkhaven's royalty. When is he gonna fuck off right back there?”
“Not soon enough for you, clearly,” Una snorted.
“I don't like him. It wasn't right what he made you do.”
“He didn't make me do anything, Carver,” Una sighed.
“I don't believe that for a second.” Carver rolled his eyes.
“Anders forced my hand just as much as Sebastian.”
Carver passed Una his handkerchief before she even realized that she was crying. She thanked him and dried her eyes.
“Go on and blow your snotty nose with it. I know you're just dying to,” Carver teased.
Una blew her nose loudly, taking pleasure in Carver's noises of disgust.
...
Una was slumped back in her chair nursing a bottle of wine from Fenris when a visitor arrived.
“Shall I send them away, Messere?” Bodahn whispered.
“Depends, who is it?”
“His Highness of Starkhaven, my lady.”
Una polished off the rest of the bottle while Bodahn waited patiently for her answer.
“Send him in. Along with a bottle of whiskey, please. I daresay I'll need it.”
“As you say, Messere,” Bodahn nodded.
Sebastian entered the study and stood by the fire. His posture was rigid and he held his hands behind his back. If Sebastian had noticed her shabby appearance, he chose not to mention it. From the lines on her face, to the dark circles under her eyes, it spoke much to what Una Hawke had endured. After several false starts where he opened his mouth only to close it and shake his head Bodahn entered with a bottle of whiskey along with two glasses that he set down onto the side table.
“Thank you, Bodahn. Feel free to retire for the evening, you deserve some rest,” Una said.
“Thank you, Messere,” Bodahn replied, shooting Sebastian a glare on his way out.
“I don't think he likes me very much,” Sebastian said haltingly.
“Not many people do,” Una snorted.
Sebastian's cheeks went red. “I came to apologize, Hawke.”
“Whatever for?” She asked as she filled two glasses with whiskey. Una sipped from one and handed the other to Sebastian.
“I shouldn't,” he protested.
Una pressed the glass to his chest.
“Drink.” Her voice stern and brooked no argument.
He threw back a mouthful and made an expression Una couldn't quite name.
“That's Starkhaven whiskey,” he murmured.
“Is it?”
“I'm getting off track, I came to apologize. About Anders. After everything that happened, I was still so blind in my need for vengeance. I thought I'd put that behind me after the people responsible for my family's murder had paid with their lives. You deserved better than to… I have prayed on it ever since that day and though I hadn't meant to, it was manipulative. That position I put you in. I can't apologize enough, and I know that words from a foolish man mean little when you've lost a loved one-”
“Drink,” she repeated, just as sternly as before.
Sebastian gulped and nodded. He took small sips, savoring the taste that reminded him of home.
“I'm tired of thinking about it,” Una said wearily and sat back in her chair. “I've put him out of my mind. Just another chapter in 'The Tale of the Champion’, ended.”
“You can't mean that!” He yelled.
“You're not making this any easier, Sebastian. Just leave it alone. I don't want to have this conversation anymore with anyone. If that's all you came to say, you've said it and now you can leave.”
“I know better than most what burying your feelings does to a person,” Sebastian said quietly. He finished his glass and set it back on the side table. “Thank you for the whiskey. Be well, Hawke.”
She had fled the city at the behest of Varric. Under cover of darkness on a draft horse. ‘Best to hide in plain sight’ Varric had said; a wise plan. As to where she'd go, she had not decided. She felt a lot freer than she'd been in years. No obligations, no responsibilities other than the welfare of herself and the horse.
“You need a name don't you?” Una murmured to herself as she ran her fingers through the horses mane. “Suppose I do as well. How about Ruby?” The horse nuzzled into her hand. “Ruby it is. Audra for me, I believe.”
...
She'd begun traveling years ago and had wandered the furthest reaches of Thedas; beyond the uncharted lands south of the Wilds, beyond the lands north of the Anderfels. Life was simpler as ‘Audra'. She was free to roam, beholden to no one, no longer duty bound to a city beyond saving. She found herself wandering back to the Free Marches. Perhaps she missed the only family she'd had left. The friends she'd been to hell and back with. Varric was easy to find and he was able to point her towards her former companions. Her heart somehow led her to Starkhaven.
The city had a splendor Kirkwall could never hope to match; buildings crafted of marble and granite, shops were clean and bustling with lively people.
Audra settled on the outskirts of the city and found herself falling into familiar habits, albeit not her own. It started with selling potions to get by. Then it was making remedies by request. The progression to healing the sick or injured seemed natural; perhaps too natural. She dreamt of Anders every night now. His resigned and mournful expression when she'd killed him. How his fingers brushed her cheek and he thanked her even as she sunk the knife into his chest. Audra thought she'd run out of tears only to be mistaken the nights she jolted awake thinking she could undo what she'd done. A life of service seemed an inadequate penance but she would set herself on that path all the same.
Several months after settling into her clinic a member of the city guard arrived at her door, his head bloodied and eyes unfocused. She healed the man and thought that was the end of it but before the week's end she had the city magistrate knocking on her door.
"Is there something I can help you with serrah?" She tried to keep her tone polite and even, though in her heart she was stricken with panic.
"You're the healer?" He asked with a frown.
"Yes, I am," she said slowly. "Are you in need of aid?"
"Not myself, no. There's an illness in the castle. And it's spreading. If you're half as good as my son says then you'll be able to sort it out."
"Your son?"
"He's a city guard," the magistrate replied proudly. "He said you healed him. Not just his head but his leg as well. It was an old wound. He'd thought it would never be the same, but he's got a spring in his step thanks to you."
She blushed and nodded. After she gathered a few things they were off. The magistrate brought her to the servants living quarters first. They were wracked with fever, chills, coughs and sores. After thoroughly healing five of the ill servants, Audra was growing weary.
"Magistrate, serrah, I need rest," she said. 'Or lyrium' her mind supplied, though she knew better. The people of Starkhaven were distrustful of magic and very superstitious. It was enough that they had accepted her aid. There was no need to remind them of her 'abnormality' by downing potion after potion just to finish the task at hand.
"I'll alert the seneschal and he will find a room for the night. We cannot afford for the illness to spread further."
"The Prince," she found herself saying, "is he well?"
"Quite. I'll return shortly."
Audra breathed a sigh of relief. Though she and Sebastian had not parted on the best of terms she did not wish him ill. The seneschal greeted her kindly but she could see his distress.
"Are you alright, seneschal?"
"It's my wife. She's with child but she's ill like the others. The magistrate said you need rest. But as soon as you're able, please heal her. I can't bear to lose her."
His desperation was plain to see. Audra couldn't help but think of Anders; how often he had pushed himself to heal just one more person.
"Will you take me to her?" The words left her without a second thought.
"I'd greatly appreciate that. Even just assessing the condition is more than I'd hoped at this time," the seneschal said and wiped his eyes.
…
His wife's condition was worse than she'd feared. The illness was robbing the mother of the capability to nurture the growing life inside her. Audra felt sweat gather on her brow as she poured her magic into the woman. Even as she felt the room sway, she pressed on. When Audra finished the mother had color back in her complexion and the baby wriggled energetically once more. The seneschal wept and thanked her profusely.
"Do you mind if I sit down a moment?" Audra tried to even out her breathing.
"Of course, anything you need." The seneschal gestured to the divan by the wall.
Audra made it four steps before she collapsed in a heap on the floor. The seneschal hadn't even had time to catch her.
…
Prince Sebastian walked past his chambers, only a single bodyguard- Ainsley- in tow, and onto the seneschal's chambers. The seneschal's wife was unwell and though Sebastian himself could do little to help, he wished to extend the man any and all services in his employ.
He knocked on the seneschal's chamber door and waited. Graham rarely left his quarters this time of night, opting instead to be by his wife's side as much as he could. Sebastian waited several more minutes before he tried the knob.
"Seneschal Graham?" Sebastian asked. He heard a scuffle of feet and let Ainsley enter the room first.
"Did this woman harm you, seneschal?" Ainsley asked, his hand ready to draw his sword.
"Absolutely not!" The seneschal seemed cross at the simple implication. "She healed my wife but she collapsed shortly after. I haven't been able to rouse her and she's heavier than she looks."
Sebastian stepped closer to the woman. Much of her figure was obscured by the dark billowing fabric that could only generously be referred to as a dress. Sebastian tore his gaze from her attire and onto her face. If it wasn't for the woman's long mass of golden ringlets, Sebastian could have sworn the woman was Una Hawke. She was softer in the face, more scars, even a burn along the side of her neck.
"Her name, Graham?" Sebastian asked.
"Audra I believe, your majesty."
Sebastian picked up the woman and carried her to one of the guest quarters. She was at least twice as heavy as Una -or at least the Una he remembered- had been, but he'd no trouble carrying her. He sat by her bedside until he grew tired, vowing to return in the morning before his princely duties.
…
The more he thought about it, the more he was certain that the woman was Una. Sebastian had wheedled the information of her whereabouts the last time he met Varric after he'd become the Viscount of Kirkwall. All the dwarf had said was that she'd returned to the Free Marches.
He'd instructed a maidservant to watch over her and to send a runner to him if the woman woke. He'd gotten no news of Una waking throughout the day and decided to take her lyrium potions.
He dismissed the maidservant and left Ainsley by the door. As Sebastian sat at her bedside he gazed at her body. She was as beautiful as he'd remembered. He'd never told her of his infatuation; it seemed inappropriate since she had been with Anders then. The regret he still carried over his hand in Anders' fate had faded over time but looking at Hawke now it stung anew. He wanted to tell her how sorry he still was. He didn't dare hope that she'd forgive him, or even attempt to rekindle the easy friendship they'd once had. As Sebastian watched her chest rise and fall he longed to reach for her hand but resisted. He doubted she'd even want him touching her so familiarly. Instead he laced his own fingers together and waited on in silence.
Hawke began stirring in her sleep some time after midnight. She thrashed against the covers murmuring apologies. Sebastian's heart ached to see her so unsettled. He laid a hand on her shoulder.
"Hawke, rest easy," he murmured.
Her eyes opened and they had a wild look about them. "Sebastian?" Hawke asked breathlessly.
"It's nice to see you awake, Hawke. Gave us quite a fright passing out like that."
"I'd hoped we wouldn't cross paths," she admitted slowly. "Not because I didn't want to, it seems silly now. I didn't want you to see me looking this way."
Sebastian frowned. "Collapsed from healing people? How could you have known you would?"
"I'm not as fit as I used to be is all," she mumbled.
"Hawke, I hold you in high esteem regardless of your shape."
"Oh," she replied blankly.
"I um, I've brought lyrium potions. And an additional offer if you've a mind. I would do well to have a healer at court. Especially one of your talents. Would you consider coming to work at the palace?"
Hawke's eyebrows shot up.
"The lyrium potions do not hinge on your acceptance of the position!" Sebastian added hastily. "You've done a great service for my people. And not just yesterday if the rumors are true."
"Healing people… For quite some time now I've considered it a calling," she said softly.
Anders, his mind reminded him. It should have come as no surprise that the mage had had such a profound effect on her. They'd been lovers, and nearly more. Varric had sought to twist the knife in him deeper and told him that Anders had meant to wed Hawke.
And in a single-minded fit of rage Sebastian had taken it all from her. The more he'd prayed on it the more he did everything he could to invite her rage. He deserved no less. She hadn't lashed out at all and that had been so much worse. Even now he still sought penance. Though as he stood at her bedside his traitorous thoughts ran wild with the hope that maybe after all this time she'd finally forgive him.
"Sebastian?" Hawke asked.
"Yes?"
"Are you alright? You seem… unfocused."
"As you can imagine, I often have much on my mind. Starkhaven needs a deft hand to rule it," he chuckled.
"Apologies your majesty," she murmured. "I should finish healing the ill here. If they are willing."
"Why would they be unwilling?" Sebastian frowned.
"Aren't Starkhaveners distrustful of magic?"
"Who told you that?" He asked, seeming somewhere between amusement and disbelief.
"That little bastard," she huffed.
"I beg pardon?"
"Varric. He's always told me that they abhorred magic!"
"I think he may have been trying to keep you in Kirkwall, Hawke."
"Well, I really showed him, didn't I?" She smiled gently.

DIALOGHI DAL TERZO MILLENNIO. LORENZO IN TOUR(S).
Sagrato del Duomo di Novara
Lorenzo: “Ciao Mario, cosa fai qui?”
Mariulin: “Ciao Lorenzo, presumo quello che ci fai tu, vado a Messa...”
Lorenzo: “Si ma io suono l’organo...”
Mariulin: “Ah bene! E cosa suoni?”
Lorenzo: “Johan Sebastian Bach, “Preludio in fa maggiore” BWV 556, poi “Fantasia in do maggiore BWV 570 all’Offertorio, “Adagio della Toccata, Adagio e Fuga” in do maggiore BWV 564 alla Comunione e i fine “Preludio e Fuga” in in la minore BWV 558.”
Mariulin: “Ah...È un bell’organo vero?”
Lorenzo: “Un buono strumento.”
Mariulin: “Facilissimo?”
Lorenzo: “Beh è una caratteristica evidentissima.”
Mariulin: “Mmmm, vediamo un po’...Consolle francese?”
Lorenzo: “Bravo!”
Mariulin: “Che culo...”
Lorenzo: “Prego?”
Mariulin: “No, niente...”
Lorenzo: “Su, chi le faceva le consolle di tal fatta?”
Mariulin: “Ma non incomincia la messa?”
Lorenzo: “Non tergiversare, rispondi!”
Lorenzo: “Tours.”
Mariulin: “Ah ah ah come Jovanotti, “Lorenzo in tour”...”
Lorenzo: “Tours, la città francese il cui duomo conserva uno spettacolare organo del XVI secolo. Tu scherzi sempre, ma quanti anni hai?”
Mariulin: “Sessanta. E tu Lorenzo?”
Lorenzo: “Diciotto.”
Mariulin: “Facciamo cambio?”
Lorenzo: “Va bene, ma tu vai a suonare Bach.”
Mariulin: “Beh, allora un’altra volta...”
Lorenzo: “Buona domenica.”
Mariulin: “Buona domenica...”

In light of recent news, I'm polishing and sharing some aai2 snippets, bc once we get the new translation I'll have a whole new script to play with
Takes place during aai2-2, in my AA HDM AU
"If you can't understand how the best prosecutor thinks, it simply shows how inculpable you are."
(It seems he doesn't know what "inculpable" even means…)
"...That's right, Sebatian. Prosecutor Edgeworth is quite "incapable"," Judge Courtney said with a sideways glance toward Prosecutor Debeste.
"Umm. Yes! He's incapable!"
"...She just nonchalantly corrected him," Kay said blankly.
"Don't underestimate my intelligence gathering skills! I just came from the infirmary and asked the doctor there…" Debeste paused, as if for dramatic effect, "...about the cause of the poison gas!"
"...And what was the cause?" Miles asked.
"Err." Debeste froze, then started waving his baton nervously. "Some "normal" substance… What was its name again?" The question was directed at his daemon, once more a moth on his shoulder. The daemon whispered something back.
"H-hold on a second. I'll call the doctor to make sure."
(At least he's not so cocky as to lie…?)
"Since Sebatian is on the phone, I'll answer for him," Judge Courtney said after he'd left the room.
Alethea grumbled disapprovingly under her breath. "If you know, then why let him go on a useless errand, you…"
It seemed Kay had a similar thought, saying, "...In that case, why didn't you tell us before he called?"
"The poison gas was caused by the mixing of two different types of chemicals," Judge Courtney continued, as if Kay hadn't spoken. "Their names are Normallium and Fatallium."
"So, what are those chemicals exactly?" Kay asked.
"Normallium is a red liquid that's commonly used in everyday products. It can be found in paint and detergent, among other things, but it is not toxic by itself."
"...So you're saying that it's a substance readily available to anyone," Miles concluded.
"Yes. But Fatallium, on the other hand, is not so easy to obtain."
"Its name sure sounds dangerous," Kay said, "What's it used for?"
"It is the active ingredient of a white pesticide known as Megatoxin X. Fatallium itself also has a thick white color. It's not readily sold in stores, and is nearly impossible to obtain domestically. We are currently looking into how this chemical was obtained."
Miles noted the information down in his organizer for future reference.
"O.K.!" Debeste waltzed back into the room. "I've finally found out the names of those chemicals!"
"...Judge Courtney has already told us," Miles said, "We don't need to hear it again."
Debeste made a pained sound, and his daemon briefly became a slug before he regained his composure. "...Fine, then. I'll cut to the chase!"
He was back to that confident smirk, his daemon a large frog on his shoulder. "You know that Normallium from the poison gas is also used in paint, right? Today, out of everyone who visited the art gallery, the only one carrying paint…" He pointed his baton at Larry. "...was that artist!"
"You're treating me as the culprit just because of that?!"
"I object… to the red paint on the palette you're carrying." Debeste's baton dipped, nearly poking the aforementioned paint.
"Hey, Edgey…" Larry said in a tone probably meant to be a whisper, "Don't you think this prosecutor is kind of an idiot?"
"Indeed." Miles heard Alethea huff in frustration at that. "Although I've only known him for a short time, his logic is always absurd."
"Hey! Don't ignore me!"
"It's alright, Sebatian," Judge Courtney said with a patronizing smile, "They're only doing it because they're afraid of you.
"Like the first star to appear at night, show us reasoning that shines the best."
"The first star shines best… Not bad." Debeste's genuine smile at the reassurance was quickly replaced by that smirk of his. "Hey, you guys better listen up too!"
Debeste began his argument. "That artist was the first to "discover" the victim, so naturally he's the best suspect!
"The poison gas was caused by Normallium, a chemical found in paint, right?
"As he was carrying paint near the victim, he would've had the best chance.
"The paint, along with being the first witness…That pretty much proves he's the culprit!"
Debeste turned eagerly to Judge Courtney. "So! What do you think, Justine?"
"...We cannot ignore the possibility," she replied gracefully. "Well then, Mr. Artist. Please, tell us the truth. Did you leave red paint at the crime scene? Or else… Did you cause the poison gas to go off?"
"The only thing I leave behind is my "bond of love" with you…" Larry said, to which his daemon, Millie, nipped him in the hand.
"...Please watch what you say. My gavel is already prepared to declare you guilty."
Miles sighed. "Please pay no heed to this man's statements."
"Hey, hey, you guys!" Debeste said, "Ignoring my reasoning just because it's flawless won't do you any good. Mr. Edgeworth, if you've already admitted defeat, you should take your leave!"
"Hmph. Even though I don't really have time to deal with your ridiculous reasoning, it seems I have no choice."
Debeste repeated his argument. And didn't mention Fatallium once.
"Mr. Debeste," Miles said, "Your logic is more akin to a shooting star than a shining one."
"He heh. It shines the best, right?"
"...It may shine brightly for a brief moment, but then it burns itself out.
"The poison gas originated from inside the glass case of the Pisces Sculpture—"
"Exactly! So that's where the artist set off the gas, right? He used the Normallium in the red paint!"
"As your senior, let me give you one piece of advice: listen to the explanations of others." Miles could feel his own annoyance growing. "The poison gas was caused by mixing both Normallium and Fatallium together. The Normallium contained in the red paint is not enough by itself."
".....Really? But I thought I heard "Normallium caused the fatality"..."
Miles could not believe this. "Don't tell me you just misheard the forensics report!"
"D-Darn it!"
"By the time Larry discovered the victim, the room was already filled with poison gas. It's time for you to realize how incapable you really are!"
"Hey!" Debeste's mouse-formed daemon scrambled to hide under his jacket. "What do you mean by "incapable"!?"
"You tried to use that word earlier, and you still don't know what it means…" Kay said in disbelief.
"He means to say… you are lacking in ability," Judge Courtney told Debeste.
"Incidentally, "inculpable" has a completely different meaning," Miles added.
"…I get it! You're making fun of me again, aren't you!"
"I am merely saying you were incapable in your investigation."

This procession headed to Room 2 of the National Pantheon, where the memorial plaque to Aristides de Sousa Mendes was unveiled, while Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Prelude in C Major' was performed for harp, by the Choir of the National Theater of São Carlos. After the unveiling, next to the evocative plaque, the national flag was folded by soldiers from the National Republican Guard. Afterwards, the members of the procession returned to their places in the Pantheon, and the President of the Republic, the President of the Assembly of the Republic and the Prime Minister did proceed to the altar to sign the National Pantheon's Act of Honor. The ceremony ended with a new interpretation of the national anthem. The working group responsible for defining the process of granting honors from the National Pantheon to Aristides de Sousa Mendes was formed in October last year, with representatives from all parties (except Chega) and family members of the former consul. https://www.instagram.com/p/CVQnYQSDWeM/?utm_medium=tumblr

“I’ll think about it,” she’d promised Sebastian the last time he’d visited, full of great plans and ambitions leavened with the severity of his concerns. Concerns Hawke shared, though she had others he did not seem to; he had always been too confident in her, far more so than she was herself. He trusted her, and he was as hard to disappoint as a puppy – both because she did not want to, and because no matter what she did, it never seemed enough to truly disappoint him.( Was that the Chantry in him, or had he always been so sweet and shining underneath, even when he’d been a disreputable rake?)
But what he’d said made sense, that was the damnable part. The Templars were gaining in strength in Kirkwall – which meant, of course, that Meredith was, the Knight-Commander only a hairsbreadth away from declaring martial law. And her armored church knights could enforce it, too; the Kirkwall Guard, even under the able command of Aveline, would be no real match for them… even if they dared to fight back against the militant arm of the Chantry in the first place. Dumar certainly wouldn’t be able to stop Meredith; Dumar might not be able to get out of bed in the morning these days, for as listless and unengaged as he’d seemed the last few times Hawke had managed an audience.
Saemus had told her about the ring. Dumar still had it, apparently. And he knew who’d sent it to him. No, he wouldn’t do a damn thing, wouldn’t lift a single finger against Meredith lest she cut it off and send it to his successor.
His successor, who wouldn’t be Saemus. Saemus wanted to convert to the Qun, and even if he didn’t manage that, he was tainted by the desire. Petrice had seen to it that hatred of the horned warriors was at a fever, and it was unlikely the populace would ever allow Saemus to wear the cormorant diadem of Kirkwall.
But Aristide, Hawke’s grandfather, had once been considered all but a shoo-in for the position. He’d been tainted by Revka’s mage children, and perhaps Hawke herself was still tainted by her blood and her associates. But what better candidate to be pitted against the Templars, whispered that little voice of reason and of fiery fury alike, than a candidate known to be sympathetic to mages…?
She looked down at her dog, who was patiently gazing at her with that soft and wordless affection only dogs can ever truly muster. “Apparently, all I have to do is usurp the Viscount before someone else can,” she said, and Huan whined in his throat and then thumped his tail once, an oddly quizzical and uncertain combination. She sighed. “My sentiments exactly.”
Well, there was no time like the present. Maybe she could merely go talk to Dumar. Again. Maybe this time there’d even be some good that would come of it... probably not, but a girl could dream, couldn’t she? Hawke stood and shrugged into her armor. Maybe she’d pay a visit to the Gallows, too, while she was at it. She had a few questions for Thrask.
