On August 14, 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed into law the Social Security Act. This act created a social insurance program that was designed to pay retired workers a continuing income after retirement. The program is near and dear to Howard because he has been retired for 25 years.

For today, Howard letterpress printed the name of that program. The text “Social Security Act” was typeset in 60 point Cheltenham Bold font. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press.
