What Fanart Do Y'all Wanna See?

An idea I’ve had for a while that makes me giggle a little is one of the younger guys (Chris, Gator, Crawford (the blond one surfer boy) or Junior) having like, a really hot significant other who’s probably well rounded too and everyone around them is just like “HOW! HOW DID YOU DO THAT! EXPLAIN IT TO ME!”

― I get the impression the soldier who garners least surprise over having a genuine smokeshow of a significant other back home is Chris precisely because he's a rich boy and the other guys might think that, well, rich boys and hot girls go hand in hand, really. Everyone knows that. That's just how the other side lives out there where the grass is always greener --- only for the fact to serve deepen everyone's collective bafflement and shock as to why Taylor volunteered for the war even more so than before. Not only did he not have to be here, he left a beauty like you back home all by herself. They all think he's crazy. Coo-coo in the head. There's a major malfunction upstairs, obviously. Is someone looking after you back home? What if some jerk comes and sweeps you away while Taylor's here, knee-deep in stinking jungle sewage? Some of the boys might even jest and offer to be the lucky candidate to do so once they all start rotating back home. They aren't afraid to tease him and vocalize this as well as never letting him live it down. It's all in good faith, of course. Never really gets malicious. It's 'boys will be boys' type banter. But, truth of the matter is, a great many platoon members just can't reconcile someone who has everything ending up, well, here. With them. Among people who had no choice but to be here or serve jail time at home. Regardless, you're Taylor's lucky charm. For all he's concerned, you're never too far away because you're always in his heart.

― Ain't nobody believing poor Junior. He whips out your photo and they all think you're actually a newspaper cutout or some sort of pin-up, singer or celebrity he saved from a centerfold only to pass you off as his girlfriend to win seniority or credibility status and no matter how much this guy might protest, whine, rant about it or and insist you two are really together it's almost like a collective joke that everyone long since decided on should keep being perpetuated for the shits and giggles of it; oh, yeah, there goes Junior and that broad he made up in his head, next week, he might start claiming he's boned Raquel Welch too --- even if some people might actually be neutral on the matter or secretly believe this kid's story, occasionally pestering him about it is far more fun than actually letting the matter go and taking his word for it, which is what most of the guys prefer doing anyway --- giving Junior a hard time about it. Not because there's anything wrong with Junior, but because they cannot believe someone seemingly so, as they'd see it, irritating, mouthy and occasionally shrill could not only pull but keep a woman like you. Like, there must be something the matter with you. Junior doesn't fret, though. Probably spitefully writes your name on his helmet and illustrates your likeness next to it to almost as a big 'screw you' to everyone who doesn't take him seriously. He's making a statement.

― Gator's a pretty boy, for all intents and purposes. He's handsome. He's seemingly very young. Him having a significant other similar to himself? Not too many surprised and shocked expressions flock to this fact, let me tell you. Some people, like Taylor and apparently Gator Lerner, are simply born under a lucky star, but Gator's case might just quietly irritate far more people than Taylor's particular one does because the boys of the platoon mostly reconcile Chris' hot girlfriend with his wealth (a notion everyone comforts themselves with and prods and pokes the guy with) while in Gator's case, they choose to simply let the fact that two hot people found each other spontaneously just because slide over their collective heads because, it's, well, a bit annoying. Not the serious type of annoying or anything the boys in the platoon can't tactically neglect if need be, but look at this kid go; he's not only handsome, he's here having a goddess like you waiting for him back home. Yeesh. Where does it end, where does it end? They don't even want to ask how he's won you because they can all see how he's won you. Gator shows someone a picture of you and he receives a bunch of mainly friendly hums, nods and wistful sighs and maybe even the occasional whistle, but people try to casually move past it as soon as possible. Kindly as possible. They don't wanna offend Gator. They like Gator. Gator's an okay kid. But, sheesh, what's next? Him announcing he's just won the lottery too?

― Crawford's a surfer. Chicks like surfers. That's pretty much the beginning and the end on the speculations on how this kid pulled a bombshell. The sea helps. The waves help. All that salt and sunshine in the air helps. All the heat helps. All that exposed skin helps too. That's like the ultimate recipe for bagging a hottie; like, all the stars are aligned and in your favor and all you have to do as a man is show up and bust some moves on a board. Even older platoon members like Rhah and Elias weigh in on it with almost sagely conclusions and agree on it. They talk about it like it's THE universal truth and in fact, the topic can quickly drift away from Crawford's beautiful gal and to various personal anecdotes regarding what type of dimes all the platoon members got together with during Rest and Recreation in their own time, somewhere exotic, out on the beach, where summer never really ends --- a fact Crawford might be relieved by because it takes the spotlight off of you and places it someplace else, but regardless, there's something weirdly soft about the whole notion because it kickstarts a whole bonding conversation. He more than ever wants to be near you again hearing all these diverse stories. It makes him miss you more than ever before. The ache is almost profoundly nostalgic. Might well very well be acknowledge by all the other boys. Someone's hand fluffs Californian lover boy Crawford's bushy blonde hair as comfort and he smiles into the contact. How he wishes he was with you.
