I'm putting this out there, knowing full well that I'll probably get hate for it, and that's fine. I know how blocking works.

I am from Chicago. I've been watching wrestling since 1995. My personal knowledge and experiences with CM Punk started before many of you were born.

He can say he's from Chicago all he wants, but the man is from Lockport. He went to school with my cousins. I met him several times in our youth before he was signed anywhere.

I can confirm from my own experiences with him, as well as those of my family, that he has always been a whiny bitch with an over inflated ego. In his mind, he's never wrong. He demands respect from everyone, but he makes them earn his. He makes you earn his kindness. The first time that you disagree with him on anything, regardless of how unimportant it is, you will be dead to him forever. He does not forgive. He gaslights easier than most people breathe.

In short, CM Punk is as toxic as they come, and he always has been. He probably always will be. If you're going to support him, proceed with caution.

thinking Seth and Drew irl actually hate CM Punk is the biggest mark behavior to me literally idgi. Oh they said so in an interview? On a podcast? By that standard, Dominik Mysterio must hate his mom and dad for real.

Does no one remember that Punk is biologically incapable of playing (working) nicely with people he has actual beef with? Remember what happened when they tried to put him and Colt Cabana in the same building at AEW? Like no offense to him but there's no world in which he has the professionalism to power through weeks of high-risk main-event match prep with people with whom he has actual conflict. He would crash out immediately.

Feuds with Punk have been the absolute peaks of both Seth and Drew's careers. Why would they not keep the kayfabe door open for more?

WIP Abandoned No More Tag List Clean Up

Alright, thought I'd be back posting in November, but election results in my country left me not wanting to write about anything political or related to reproductive choices/family planning. But, now that the sting has faded to a dull ache of inevitability, I figure I might as well dive back in.

The thing about CM Punk is that the hottest storyline he can do is to have some other wrestler shoot on what a terrible human being they think he is. But every time they tell that story, and the other guy pulls receipts, he doesn't have an answer for it. Which is kind of weird for a guy who's whole deal is that he's absolutely certain he's always right.

Eddie Kingston called him a snake and he acted like he had no idea what Eddie was talking about. MJF felt let down when he quit WWE, but he didn't really give a shit. Adam Page went off about the Colt Cabana situation, and granted he wasn't expecting that, but his whole deal is being quick-witted on the microphone, and he just sort of sputtered. For the past year Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins have been doing the WWE version of this, and they rehash all the CM Punk drama, and then he just changes the subject to why he's going to beat them up in their next match.

To some degree I get it, because all the drama doesn't actually matter, and what's important is who's gonna win the fight. Except, when it comes to Punk, the drama does matter, because that's what motivates people to follow his storylines. In 2023 all anyone wanted to see him do was a) work an angle with the Elite based on their backstage fight or b) work an angle about how everybody in WWE is pissed that he's back. So then WWE actually does that, and Seth reads off the List of CM Punk Grievances, and he doesn't really defend himself except to say "well, I'm still going to make a lot of money when I kick your ass next week." I mean, is that a pipe bomb or a Miz promo?

I suppose it can't be helped, because Punk can't meaningfully justify all the shit he's pulled over the years. Rationalizing the WWE walkout is tough when he's back on Raw, and acting like he returned in November 2023 because Vince was gone is bullshit, unless he had a time machine. A court of law said he was right about the MRSA infection, but that'd be awkward to say on a WWE show. His side of the story on the Colt Cabana lawsuit never made any sense, and he can't say much about AEW without giving them free publicity.

Even so, you'd think he'd have a leg to stand on when Seth and Drew and Roman hint at him being a bad friend and mentor years ago. I have no idea what they're talking about, or if any of it really happened. So in that case it should be simple to invent an explanation why he's not a locker room cancer, but he never seems to try.

WIP Ask Game! Post a sentence or paragraph from one of your current WIPs ✨

You know what Anon, I'm feeling generous so here's a snippet from all of my current WIPs (except for a super-secret one which I haven't started yet);

From Valets of WWE: Modern Era, Chapter 2 (Seth Rollins):

'Did you really think Punk would call it quits after losing the Royal Rumble match?' Drew went on, closing the gap between them, his voice soft like a tiger's growl. 'No, he would have set his eye on winning the Elimination Chamber and we'd be right back to square one.' By now, he had reached Seth and his large hands gently grasped the lapels of the valet's brightly coloured jacket, softly stroking the fabric. 'What I did wasn't pretty but it was necessary. If I wanted to save Wrestlemania, if I wanted to save WWE itself, I had to exorcise the demon. I had to end CM Punk.'

For some reason, Seth bristled. 'He said he's coming back.'

'Then I'll finish him for good,' Drew snarled, the viciousness in his tone returning. The dominant quickly shook it off, plastering an easy smile on his face. 'Anyway, enough about him. I actually came here to tell you that I will be entering the Elimination Chamber...' Slowly, Drew eased the lapels of Seth's jacket apart, revealing the World Heavyweight Championship belt around his waist, large and golden, shining in the dim light. '..and I will do whatever it takes to win. Only question is... what prize will I claim for my Wrestlemania moment?'

From Young Hearts (Be Free Tonight) (young!Punk Valetverse au), Chapter 2:

'Hey,' Punk grunted as he tossed a garment bag onto Colt's bed. 'Returning your suit.'

His tone didn't sound promising but Colt tried to be optimistic. 'So how did it go?'

Punk gave a humourless laugh and replied, 'apparently I'm not "management material".'

'Really? But you're pretty much running the comic book shop right now?'

'Exactly! I'm the only reason that shit-pile's staying afloat, you ask me I could run that place with my fucking eyes shut and I'd do it a whole lot better than some wrinkly old pervert who can't tell his Antman's from his asshole.'

That sinking feeling rested in the pit of Colt's stomach. 'Punk... you didn't actually say that at the interview, did you? Like say, to the owners?'

'The fuck kinda idiot do you think I am?' the valet shot back, taking offence to the accusation. Colt let out a sigh of relief when the valet hastily added 'oh, and on an unrelated note, I need to find a new job.'

From Out of the Ashes (post-apolcalyptic au), Chapter 17:

'Is it me, or is the food today even shittier than normal?'

Dean considered Eddie's observation. Scooping up some gloop from his plate with his fork and shoving it into his mouth, he took a moment to inspect the flavour. Eventually he quirked his brows with a little hum. 'Think you're right. Kitchen boys have outdone themselves with shittiness this morning.'

Letting out a huff of disgust, Eddie threw down his cutlery, when Dean spotted something more interesting over his friend's shoulder. 'Well, well, what time do you call this, lazy bones,' he teased Punk as he stomped across from the stairs. 'Thought you were...' his voice trailed off when he spied the horrific bruising all over the other man's face. 'The hell happened to you?'

But Punk marched past, not even hearing him. Dean twisted around in his seat to see the captive wrestler making a beeline for Dolph Ziggler's table.

'Hey, look at that,' Eddie cheered. 'Your guy's off to get himself killed.'

'Ah, shit!' Cursing under his breath, Dean leapt up to his feet.

'Oh come on, Mox, don't spoil the fun? Mox! Moxley! Ah, fuck...'

The mist had crept in like an assassin in the night, silent, ominous and deadly. It stalked the harbour, so dense that a man could barely see his boots beneath him, and choked out the row of small oil lanterns along the length of the jetty. Even the sweeping beams of the lighthouse were struggling to probe through its black veil.

The tall, grim structure loomed afar on its rocky crag, merely a silhouette against the dark, misty horizon. Atop it, stood a man, every bit as tall and grim, leaning on the railing as the titanic beacon behind him creaked, spinning slow, mighty circles to heave its light out. Drew peered through his binoculars, searching the length and breadth of the jetty to count the boats as they crawled in home to safety. Every one present and accounted for, the entire fleet.

He allowed himself one breath of relief, but only one. An entire fleet was one thing; an entire crew was another.
