Just got done canvassing 3 neighborhoods with my county EMA. We had 10 tornadoes in the area and we were asking residents if they had any damage (if we can show that there's enough damage, we can request federal funding).

Guys... if you are under a TORNADO WARNING, act like the sirens went off. This neighborhood that was Very badly damaged all complained the sirens didn't go off.

Yeah. Because they were at the edge of the township, in a pretty remote-ish section, the tornado came when it was dark and rain-wrapped... nobody knew at that time. And a lot of times they don't know until it's at least touched down.

Also if you DO get storm damage, report it to your county! We have NO way of knowing otherwise! I just saw 6 pine trees that were uprooted and tossed and nobody knew except the 3 neighbors around those trees because it was in the backs of the properties. The rest of the neighborhood was untouched. Report this stuff.

And if your power went out and your food went bad, take a picture of the fridge full of food and send that picture to your insurance company bc oftentimes they will pay for that!
