Grandmother Whale Shark

Inspired by werewolfsister who shared their adventures of swimming with whale sharks! I started researching and learned about their significance in various cultures.

For the people of Balikukup, whale sharks are known as Hiu Mbok or Hiu Nenek, meaning grandma’s shark. The name comes from the local belief that a whale shark embodies a kind-hearted grandmother spirit. If local fishers encounter a whale shark on one of their trips, they see it as a sign of good fortune and prosperity.

The image of a grandmother shark wouldn't leave my head so these sketches came out. She doesn't have a name or story yet. The basic idea is she travels the vast oceans, being followed by all sorts of ocean life, sea birds, zora and rito! Whale sharks are the largest fish in the world so I wanted her to be MASSIVE! The largest whale shark on record was 61 feet! There was a whale shark female titled MEGAMAMMA SUPREME because she had 300 babies in her belly!

Daryan couldn't help but stare a little as Markus was smiling. How captivating..... the way his lips curved upwards, his lips slightly parting to reveal a row of near perfect teeth. He was only listening with one ear at this point and almost hadn't noticed that Markus had stopped talking at all. They stood there in silence for a moment before Daryan remembered he should probably say something

"Oh, I see. That's very -uhm- professional of you, heh"

Daryan felt his face heat up a little. fuck. To try and cover it up he looked off to the side, crossing his arms and smiling crookedly. He wanted to look confident as always, if that vision came thru tho was another question. He looked around the room a little now. The instruments of the band were lined up as always, they looked polished and well taken care off. If he had to guess he'd say that Klavier was to thank for that.... Markus' next question stopped that train of thought however.

"Well... uhm... uhh.. Practice! I'm here for practice, yeah"

Daryan's face heated up even more. shit shit shit!! He wasn't even lying but it somehow almost felt like he was. He felt like he was emarrassing himself infront of his crush... a fate worse then death, some might say

It was. A calm day for daryan, suprisingly. He had nothing to do, only the fact he needed to find soemthing to do. The reminder he had a band rehearsal surged to his head, so he decided that during that day, hed go earlier to the studio to train by himself a bit, mostly his guitar tunes, ofcourse. But when he got there, suprisingly enough, someone had gotten there before him. He had to be carefull— who would have gotten in? He wasnt sure.

Slowy walking in, Daryan could see the shadow ofnsomeone— shoulder length wavy hair, jacket around his waist, baggy pants... Who was that? Daryan couldnt tell by how dark it is, only that the figure was.. adjusting and preparing everything? Huh. Thats something. Daryan moves towards the lights, turning those on just to.. startle the new manager, who almost drops his glasses down with his jump.

“ Holy shit— ”

The voice was slighty loud, and it was funny. He absolutely wasnt expecting anyone that early innthe studio— let alone Daryan, who was often late for rehearsals and practices.

Most of his day so far Daryan had spend laying in his bed and scrolling on his phone. He had nothing to do, it was his day off after all but being all by himself and with only his thoughts started getting boring. Wandering around his apartment didn't help much either since nothing really seemed appealing to him right now until he passed his calander and saw he had practice soon. He quickly got dressed and out of the house

Walking in the figure in the shadows rather confused him. It was too early for any of his bandmates to be there yet, not even Klavier. He was curious to say the least but he did start holding onto his phone in his pocket just in case. Daryan jumped a little in suprise as well and almost hit the wall behind him. After the initial shock tho he quickly readjusted himself and returned to his usual cool demeanor

"Oh! uh, sorry man, I -uhm- didn't wanna scare you or anything.. You're uhm pretty early here"

Despite wanting to look cool there was a hint of nervousnes in his voice. Wich could mean anything
