Not a single member of the Clarke family displayed any fear towards any other member of the family(stereotypical video top ten list voice stops)

Anne's emotional response to the argument doesn't constitute fear, that she yelled after Dennis a little after that is not something she'd do if she was afraid

Anthony's attempt to turn off the tv without bothering James does not constitute fear, that he can snarky at him immediately after and again yell up and down the stairs is not something he'd do if he was afraid

This also goes for his siblings general biting attitude

They jump scare each other, the situation feels tense partly because the viewer just witnessed a bus crash and partly because we know what genre this story is and the atmosphere and circumstances grate on the nerves but even so before it became life threatening there is a distinct absence of fear and I feel(understandably only on a first run) that the player projects their current feeling into the family, they don't know these people, the game has got them filled to the eyeballs with suspense
