Schizomida arachnids (or Shorttailed whipscorpions), identified on iNaturalist as N. ker. using information from Harvey (1992).
For whatever reason there's a lacklustre amount of Australian Schizomida observations on iNaturalist. There's a wide variety of Australian Schizomids out there, with many new species being uncovered fairly recently in Abrams et al. (2019) for example.
Any sort of public record of these arachnids (or just terrestrial arthropods in general) will be very useful, especially since, in general, iNaturalist is lacking observations of Schizomida. Abrams et al. (2019) mentions that there are roughly 350 species of Schizomid out there, but so far, only 23 have been identified on iNaturalist. I feel iNaturalist provides good public records, so the more available on the website, the better.
I'm going to continue flipping over rocks and rotten logs for more Schizomids (and creatures in general), and I implore others to do the same. There's a lot that can be found hiding in the mulch.
*BTW these are not spiders, they're a different Chelicerate entirely.

Are there any cool sharks that have sadly gone extinct? Or are in danger of going extinct?
So I've actually gone and signed up for an account on the IUCN website to look into this specifically without spending ten million years trying to find the answer. A short summary of those at risk of extinction and those already extinct below :)
According to the IUCN’s Red List (which basically gives you a run down on how close or far an animal is to extinction), searching “sharks” and narrowing down the search to CR (critically endangered), EN (endangered), and VU (vulnerable), I got 420 hits. Of those, it will include animals that have “shark” in their name; which may include non-shark fish. But I can at least narrow it down a bit further using taxonomy as a means to filter out non-shark animals. This means, for taxonomy, we look for “Chondrichthyes” as a class of animals; aka sharks and rays.
The result then narrows down to 416. These are sharks. And now I can sort the order of results from VU right the way down to CR (lower to high on the concern scale). Since we want to know the most at risk first, I can reverse this sorting so it’s most to least in danger.
There’s been no recently extinct sharks, according to the IUCN’s list, but that’s not to say shark species aren’t at great risk of extinction, or aren’t critically endangered because of a range of reasons.
So, at the top of the list we have:
Scalloped Hammerhead
Angelshark
Oceanic Whitetip Shark
Hidden Angelshark
Argentine Angelshark
Chilean Angelshark
Humpback Smoothhound
Indian Swellshark
Daggernose Shark
Ganges Shark
Dwarf Gulper Shark
Reticulated Swellshark
Striped Smoothhound
Scoophead Shark
Sarawak Pygmy Swell Shark
Pondicherry Shark
Pacific Smalltail Shark
Borneo Shark
Shorttail Nurse Shark
Lost Shark
Smoothback Angelshark
I’ve excluded rays from this list since they’re a different sub-branch of the Chonrichthyes class to sharks. That gives us 21 sharks classed as critically endangered (aka at risk of extinction) so far on the list. This is only from the first page, by the way.
Out of the list, one shark is potentially thought to be extinct which is the Lost Shark (good name). Only 3 specimens of the species have been found in Borneo, Thailand, and Vietnam; all are over 80 years old. They were mistaken for a species of Smalltail Shark at first, but now they’re considered to be their own species. As a result, IUCN’s Red List classifies the Lost Shark as CR or possibly extinct.
This made me sad. I need to go cuddle Greg the Mako Shark who lives on my bed to feel better now.

Squirrelfur and Mistheart, a grey tabby, are the parents of Laburnumberry and Greyear, a brown and grey tabby. Laburnumberry is the mother of Sunkit and Lilykit, and the mate of Shadowflower. Shadowflower is not the father of Sunkit and Lilykit, but he is the brother of Blackstone. Their parents were Littlescar, a black cat with a face scar, and Flashstorm, a dark grey cat with lighter grey muzzle and white mark above their nose. Mistheart, Greyear, Flashstorm, and Littlescar are all dead.
Bluenose and Shorttail, a white and grey cat, were the parents of Berrystripe and Skypelt, both blue tabbies. Skypelt and Doveclaw, a light grey cat, were the parents of Juniperpaw, a blue cat with a white chest, and Nettletail. Nettletail and Daffodilpelt are the parents of Sleetpaw. Daffodilpelt’s parents were Palefur, a silver cat, and Turtleshell, a light brown and cream cat. Turtleshell’s sister is Fennelberry. Shorttail, Berrystripe, Doveclaw, Palefur, and Turtleshell are all dead. Skypelt and Juniperpaw are not maked as dead, despite not appearing in the allegiances.
Sootclaw and Cormorantleg are the parents of Ravenpaw and adopted parents of Willowpaw.
Lightthroat and Amberfog, an amber cat, are the parents of Gorsecloud. Amberfog is dead.
Sandstream and Nightface are half-sisters who share a father. Darkcloud, a black cat with red ears, was the mate of both Snowmouse, a white cat with grey freckles, and Scatterspot, a white cat with large black patches. Darkcloud and Snowmouse had three kits: Fleckkit, a white kit with black freckles, Rainkit, a grey kit with black freckles, and Sandstream. Darkcloud and Scatterspot had one kit, Nightface. Nightface and Rookstar are the parents of Spiderpaw. Darkcloud, Snowmouse, Scatterspot, Fleckkit, and Rainkit are all dead.
