Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 153 (Time For a Gender Reveal Party!)

On a rainy Saturday, Heather and Conrad were joined by friends and family for a gender reveal party in Brindleton Bay. Ash had hoped for a younger brother, but Lavender wanted a sister, and a gender reveal was a nice opportunity to bring loved ones together before they were busy at home with a newborn.

Plans to hold the party at Pupperstone Park with the pets were rained out, but Suri graciously allowed the Gordons to gather at the Salty Paw. She even agreed to let Daisy, who wanted to make a cake for the party, use her kitchen.

When Felix and Lilith arrived, Ash had to wait for his grandmother, Daisy, to gush over them for what they'd done to save him in Sulani. But after the legacy founder had showered them with gratitude, Ash placed what he'd made on the wooden bar. Using specs for an electronic upgrade part Lilith had ordered online, Ash designed a cardboard mock-up of the time travel component using plathinum, ironyum, and the shards, but he didn't have the tools to make it himself.

"I couldn't have drawn up these plans and designs, but I took welding in high school," said Lilith. "These are definitely easy enough to follow, and Emit's still around hanging out with my sister if we need more help back in Britechester."

Felix and Lilith were as loved up as ever. Even the truth of Felix's connection to Lilith's great-great-grandmother in his past life couldn't break them. He still had the ring, plotting the perfect way to propose, but today, at a celebration for their friends' baby, wasn't it.

Lilith even offered to mix drinks so Hazel or Suri wouldn't have to, happy to work on mixology skill left mostly dormant since college.

(Since the event didn't give us a tangible time travel device, I "made one" using the in-game icon. Janky or not, it's better than nothing! Also, I just missed him walking up to Lilith for an autonomous kiss, hence the awkward shot. Boo!)

Hazel was happy to let the Salty Paw serve as party central, but she refused to guess a gender even as Suri dipped into the buckets for a pair of pink shades. "I just don't know what's so important about declaring gender before the kid's even born. I know it's just a fun tradition, but I don't look good in glasses, anyway."

Heather smiled. "Don't worry about it. I know you'll love the baby the same no matter what. But Lavender, I really worry about. She doesn't want another brother at all."

The party was ostensibly for Lavender's benefit - the only one who truly cared whether or not she'd get a desired little sister. As such, even though Ash hoped for a brother, he picked pink glasses from the pink and blue bins near the punch bowl, along with both Heather and Conrad, to make her happy.

Heather greeted her dad with a hug, commiserating a moment over the family who couldn't be there. But Heather couldn't complain - Mortimer and Uncle Karl had taken River and Cass with Holly and Kris and all their kids to Willow Creek for a vacation.

Mortimer wanted to show them around the Goths' ancestral homeland, but he also planned to visit the family archives to look into the Landgraab-Goth connection suggested by the medallion in the jungle. Heather was undoubtedly curious over what they might find. She hoped it might ease her fears about a curse, but, deep down, she suspected otherwise.

Instead of dwelling on her fears, Heather focused on the guests who could make it. In addition to Felix and Lilith, hosts Hazel and Suri, and her parents, Everett and Spencer Pancakes paid a visit from Henford with their youngest, Violet, while their boys were away for a camping trip with school.

"Jett only went camping because Greyson was with him," Everett told Conrad at the bar. They both remembered their tragic camping trip in early spring, when Jett witnessed the death of Elsa Bjerg-Watson. "He's working with counselors just fine, but there's something he's locked away. He was such a chatty kid before all this, and now he might give you a few sentences. The only thing he talks about with any sense of interest anymore is death and the Reaper. I don't think he understands why Grim wouldn't let you plead."

Outgoing Felix introduced himself to the reverend with a charming smile. "I don't want this to be taken as unsolicited advice, but Lil and I looked at the benefits of moving to Ravenwood, recently, and something in particular might interest him. They host Afterlife Anonymous meetings, but they're for anyone. Not just ghosts, but anyone with questions about death and the afterlife."

Everett considered the idea and glanced toward the dance floor, where his wife moved to the jukebox with Lavender and their four-year-old daughter. "I'll talk to Spencer before we talk to Jett. I can rarely get away from the parish in Henford, but if it's something Jett needs, we'll make it happen. It's Felix, right? My wife says you were resurrected with ambrosia."

He nodded. "I was. I know some think that goes against the Watcher's design, but..."

"If the Watcher didn't sanction ambrosia, it wouldn't exist," Everett reasoned. "I had some concerns when the Ambrosia Society promoted their challenge last fall, because too much ambrosia, too many potions of youth, it can lead to overpopulation and corruption. But everything seems to be going well since, and I always trust the Watcher."

On the dance floor, young Violet Pancakes saw Lavender again for the first time since both were less than a year old. Now almost five, the girls chatted about toys and bounced to the music together.

Bella Goth made an appearance with her only granddaughter, Carina, entertaining the three-month-old while Alex and Lydia spent time with Jagger. "He's feeling a little neglected now he's got a baby sister, so they're off showing him a fun day with their complete attention while I get to play with this princess. I need some innocent cuddle time after Cali Skye came to visit me the other day. I thought I put all that work behind me."

"What did Agent Skye ask you to do, Mrs. Goth?"

"Oh, nothing much," she said, though Heather felt she wasn't saying everything. "We talked about those milk cartons people are collecting now, and how my face is on one of them. It's a little unnerving, and reminds me that I may never know where I went in the years I was missing, but we had a nice conversation. I just don't like to be reminded of the agency, that's all."

She cooed at dark-eyed Carina, who gazed curiously at Heather when Bella passed her over for a cuddle. "I've got to grab a pair of blue glasses for myself. I'm sure you're having a boy!" she chirped.

With Bella in the blue camp were Felix, Lilith, and Daisy, but Neal and Suri joined Ash, Heather, and Conrad on Team Pink. No one else went for a pair of glasses, which was fine. The buckets were there for those who wanted to play in solidarity with Lavender, who was too young to wear the shades, herself.

The party guests danced to the jukebox and dined on cake made by Daisy (exactly why I went for the balloon and not the cake-cutting reveal) before Heather and Conrad brought out a tall gold balloon. Once popped, either pink or blue powder would confirm if they were having a girl or a boy, and their guests gathered round in anticipation.

(Do you see how high Conrad is jumping?! It's amazing!)

Girl guesses outnumbered boy guesses by one (unlike the poll, which saw boy the top choice over girl and spider!), but the burst of blue didn't lie. Baby Gordon would be a boy, and everyone celebrated with noisemakers and confetti.

Conrad and Heather shared a warm embrace. All they cared for was a healthy baby, but this news wasn't unwelcome. Not to them, anyway.

Lavender, on the other hand, was tired and cranky after finding out she was due another brother. To make matters worse, the sugar high from the cake that sustained her for most of the afternoon had crashed hard. "It's okay, Lava. He'll be a nice brother, like me."

"No!" Lavender cried, stomping her feet and pushing away her brother's attempt at a hug with a kick. "I wanted a sister!"

"Ow, Lava! Don't kick me!"

Conrad had seen the whole thing and swooped in immediately. "Lavender Helena Gordon, apologize right now for kicking your brother."

"All I'll ever do is apolagize to brothers!" she complained.

"So start right now."

Her father's stern voice - a rarity at home - gave Lavender pause. She turned to her brother with a quiet apology before digging into some less sugary foods as the party wound down.

"Daddy, I'm not really mad about a brother," she explained after she'd calmed. "I won't be upset when baby brother gets here, I promise."

"It's okay to be disappointed, but it's not okay to be upset enough that you hurt people," explained Conrad. "If you're disappointed, just talk to us. We'll always listen."

Despite Lavender's outburst, the party was a success. People ate the food that was served, mingled happily, and danced in celebration at the Salty Paw.

Baby Boy Gordon's grand arrival was still a few months away, but after today, Heather and Conrad were even more excited for his arrival. ->

What is this mod?

The Standardized Test Mod opens up a lot of new interactions for your teens to delve more into their academics. Prepare your Sims for success as they gear up to take various tests, and measure their proficiency.

Features 

Sign up for Exam 

The SAK exam is exclusively for teenagers and aims to mirror a slice of high schoolers' lives. Standardized Exams are a significant aspect of student life, and I wanted to incorporate a bit of that into the game. Sims has various steps to get ready for the exam, but there are certain registration periods to follow. Additionally, students can acquire a SAK late registration ticket, albeit at a higher cost. 

Regular Registration  - from Sunday to Tuesday $150

Late Registration - Wednesday to Friday $190

(Exams are on Saturday)

Meet With Guidance Counsellor 

If your Sims face financial difficulties and can't afford a ticket, they can meet the guidance counselor to see if they're eligible for a fee waiver. If eligible, they can sign up using the regular option at no additional cost. However, if they're buying a late ticket, they'll have to pay the late fee.

Buy Test Prep 

Your Sim also has the option to purchase test prep books, which significantly aid in achieving higher scores. However, they're quite expensive. If your Sim has the means, it's highly recommended to invest in these prep books. They're a great way to enhance your score.

Use Free Online Tools 

If your sim cannot afford to pay for the books it's okay! They can also use the free online tools at their disposal. The free online tools though are less useful in helping your sim achieve a really high score. They still can, but you really need to invest your time in them.

Hire Tutor 

Your Sim can also hire a tutor, but it will come at a cost with varying fees. Tutors can provide valuable advice and guide your Sim through the studying process. They can either come over or meet at a designated location (rabbit hole). You can also hire as many tutors as you would like. 

Exam

When your Sims are ready for the exam, they can attend on a Saturday at 7 a.m. Make sure they're on time as the doors close at 8 a.m. The exam will last for 6 hours, and Sims will be dismissed afterward. Results will be released 24 hours later. Sims who get a really high score are usually admitted into university faster!

Scoring Structure  

The exam is scored out of 300 points, and Sims can improve their score by enhancing their logic and writing skills. Besides that, they should practice as much as possible. The more they practice and utilize the available tools, the higher their score will be.

Feel free to ignore me if you want but I just wanted to ask because I feel like I may just be missing something important:

What do eSims actually do to help people in Palestine? What are they providing?

Here's a simple quote from the Gaza eSims site itself that sums it up pretty succinctly. If you scroll down, the site also shows testimonies from people in Gaza who got their eSims and they helped tremendously. And I highly encourage reading the site and checking out the feed of the person who is leading the eSims effort Mirna El Helbawi.

But long story incredibly short (and anyone feel free to correct me if I get a detail wrong). But Israel destroyed pretty much all communication towers and equipment in Gaza. There is no internet or reliable cell service infrastructure to rely on there anymore. The main way folks in Gaza can connect to the internet and reach out to family, or for journalists online to report in real time, or contact emergency services, etc. is via eSims. Which gives folks a sim connection electronically for phone calls, texts, and internet access. It's really important for people in Gaza to be able to communicate with each other and the rest of the world, and eSims are pretty much the only option for most people there right now.

are you experiencing game breaking glitches? heres some help!

ive been a simmer for quite some time now, and ive seen several posts on different platforms (this one included) about save files acting weird or bugging out for various reasons! i know the sims 4 mod reddit already has a trouble shooting guide, but if that doesnt help, i want to offer this more... time consuming fix!!!

this was originally posted as a comment by me, ive tweaked it just a bit

PREFACE

this guide is for those who have tried updating their mods, but something still doesnt seem quite right! ive been there, done that! this is a fix that has worked for me and, honestly, it is a bit of a convoluted way to do it!

i want to preface this with this may not be the fix you need or are looking for and that a lot of these steps can be avoided if you simply want to try to update your mods and repair your game! a lot of times, doing those two things will fix it!

if something still isnt quite right, you can try this! tldr: you take your mods & saves out, delete your cache, repair your game, run your game, put your saves and mods back in. heres a step-by-step on how i personally do this

GUIDE STARTS HERE

if youre experiencing a homescreen that says "wwwww..." where the household name should be, try repairing/restoring a previous save before continuing with this guide. as far as im aware, that glitch means your household has been corrupted and therefore lost. the game cannot detect any sims in that household, hence the 'w' where the name should be. you may have to delete that save file, and start fresh.

if you are experiencing ui glitches besides the "www...", try updating all ui mods that you have. this includes but is not limited to: ui cheats, better build buy, more columns in cas, more traits in cas, expanded build buy, custom ui colours, etc.. if the issue persists, make sure your game is updated, sometimes an up-to-date mod and an out-of-date game can cause severe ui glitches. if the issue still persists; follow this guide.

now onto the rest;

first, run your game. make a new save, make sure your current save isnt just a fluke. if it is just your current save, try recovering your save. if it isnt just your current save, do the following:

close your game entirely. even after closing the window, check your task manager to be sure its not open in the background

open your sims 4 game folder. your game path should be one of these:

C:\Users\[user]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\ (Windows)

Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/ (macOS)

once youve located your game folder, remove your entire save folder and mods folder. put these onto your desktop.

clear you cache (localthumbcache)

run your game with nothing in it. if the issue persists, close the game and open up whichever app you use to play it (ea, origin, steam). if the issue doesnt persist, skip to the final steps.

to repair your game, open the app you use to run TS4 and repair your files. typically this is done by clicking the game in your library and clicking the three dots, an option to repair your game should be there- however its been awhile since ive done this so i may be wrong! look it up if you need to! also make sure the game is completely up-to-date. if you cannot repair your game, clear the cache of the app you run it with. if this does not work, uninstall and reinstall the app. if issues persist, check online fourms for help!

if you use the anadius version of the sims 4, make sure you repair and update your game using his launcher, too.

once your game is updated and repaired, run the game with no mods or saves in it once again.

if the game loads and runs fine up till here, create a new save and test it.

if the new save runs fine, add your saves back into the game. do not add back the folder, only the files within the folder. your game should automatically create a new saves folder, as well as a new mods folder.

test the saves, if they work as normal then youre good to move on to the final steps. if they do not work, i suggest doing one of these:

try to recover/restore the save. you can do this by restoring a previous version from the "load save" menu, clicking the floppy-disk will allow you to restore a previous version before the bug happened.

if you cant recover your save but can open the save file without any immediate crashes, try to open cas and save the sims to your gallery.

if neither of those options work, your save may be a lost cause. im so sorry!

if everythings worked up to this point then youre good to do these... final steps

before adding back your mods folder, update all of your mods! (unless you know which mod is causing the issue)

are your mods up to date already? check their compatibility with both the game and other mods! most mod download pages will have a list of what is/is not compatible.

did you install a mod that requires a pack you dont own/have installed? either remove the mod or install the pack! you can check here to see a list of every sims 4 ep/gp/etc. name and number!

did you install a mod that requires a different utility mod that you dont have? either remove said mod or add the utility you need! this often breaks a game! a lot of mods require lumpinous mood pack, i always recommend to check for that first!

readd your mods, use the new mods folder that should have been created! make sure your script files are directly in your mods folder or only one folder deep, no deeper! make sure any other file (package files) are no more than five folders deep. typically, modders will tell you how deep their files can go, but one folder deep is my general reccomendation!

test your game! if it works, then congrats!

if any issues continue to persist, you can send me a message or an ask with the trouble youre having and i will try to help. otherwise, you may need to contact ea. this guide should be able to fix all problems regarding the game, unless the problem stems from a bad mod that you keep readding or game troubles themselves. the sims 4 is very buggy, play it safe, backup your saves!

so, i'm raka. i've lurked around the internet for a little while now--since I was about five. restricted internet access? don't know her. i only started really participating in online communities when i was about 10, on quotev and amino (rip, it was a shitshow but i had a good time for the most part). at some point i just kinda...fell off of trying to find internet spaces? it didn't really feel fun anymore, y'know? i went back to lurking, looking at stuff i enjoyed/making things in silence.

How to download what? My sims?

You have to be more specific but I'm assuming you meant my sims.

If you're talking about my sims, you can either download them via the link in the posts I make or directly on the gallery (my id is GZB_naomi and you need to have 'include custom content' on or my sims won't show up).

If you do it via the link, you need to unzip the file and put everything in your tray folder (My documents < Electronic Arts < The Sims 4 < Tray).

Either way once installed/downloaded, the sim will then be in your Library (again you need to have 'include custom content' on). If you want my sims to look the same, you need to download all the cc (it's all linked in the posts I make) as well as the sliders I used (they're linked on my ressource page).

If you don't know how to install mods and custom content, I'd suggest you to look up a tutorial online.

Yes the only exception is that it’s because of the cc. Because all my sims have a lot of cc. I’m very sad I spent a lot of time creating them….

So, if I'm understanding correctly, you can still go into your game and play, but you just can't post sims on the gallery? Or are you completely locked out of your EA account and can't even play your game at all?

I'm happy to help! Usually they send a warning before outright banning, did you receive any warnings to your EA account prior to being banned? You can login into your EA account online and look under "MY BAN HISTORY." This should tell you when you were banned and give you the option to dispute the ban. Here's a Reddit thread I found while looking into your problem that shows some screenshots that illustrate what I'm talking about.

That's why I personally don't upload anything that isn't "Vanilla" to the gallery if I can help it. There have been some issues in the past with inappropriate and outright racist content, and the gallery has undergone major changes in the last couple months in an attempt to avoid this. My guess is that whatever filter/algorithm they're using to find inappropriate content might have a harder time with sims that use a lot of custom content, and it might be more privy to flagging those, unfortunately. It sucks, but it's the sims team lol. They are bad at fixing problems, but very good at making them. The gallery has always had its issues and, especially if you're using cc, it can be very unreliable IMO. That's why if you're creating sims with the intent/hopes to share them, I really recommend making a Simblr and sharing your sims on here by uploading them to a free host like Google Drive, Mediafire, Patreon, OneDrive, etc. Like I said, I'm happy to create a tutorial for that if you're curious! I'm not tech savvy, but I upload sims on here all the time and haven't had any issues with my methods - it's not as complicated as you'd think once you get the hang of it, and you don't run into issues that come from the gallery.

and YES, absolutely just save your unfinished sims to your library. I have 5 copies of "Vatores - In Progress" in my library right now lmao because I know this game is always playing around in the worst way and I don't want to lose my sims or my progress. I only ever save sims and builds that use CC to my personal library, never on the gallery, and then I use Tray Importer to grab their tray files and cc to share them. It's actually easy-peasy!

You are not stupid! I totally get your thought process with the spawning. That is a pain and there's no perfect solution to that other than just deleting the unfinished townie if they happen to generate in your game.

SUPER IMPORTANT QUESTION: you still have your game installed and therefore have access to your Sims 4 folder, right? If so, you can back up your tray and saves that way you don't lose anything.

I'm using a Windows computer, so I'm sorry if you're using a MAC... I don't know much about their Operating System. For me I can do this by simply copying both folders and storing them in a folder on my desktop, but you can even use a separate flash drive if you prefer.

I go to Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 4. You use mods, so you're probably very familiar with this but here's a screenshot just in case:

The two folders I have highlighted - saves and tray - you should keep backups of before you update your game, put new mods in your game, etc. because if something gets corrupted, you'll always be able to save the important stuff if you have to uninstall your game, move to a new PC, and etc.

That's what my folder looks like on my desktop - the last copy I made of my tray and saves was on October 17th.

Important note while we are here: you can also delete anything inside the cachestr folder (but not the folder itself), anything inside the onlinethumbnailcache folder (but not the folder itself), the avatarcache.package file, and the localthumbcache.package file. Especially do this after removing any mods or cc from your game!

If you can still go into your game and access your sims in the gallery at any capacity, you should go ahead and save your favorite sims to your library. You can do this by going into CAS, adding them to a new household, and saving them like I showed you in the last post. Save your game and then, if you haven't backed everything up before, I would recommend doing that.

If you can't access your gallery at all any more, with the exception of your library, but some of the sims/households you liked have spawned in your game, you can also add them to your library by editing their household from the neighborhood bin. Just open them in CAS and save them to your library the same way you would a totally new sim. This way, even if you may not be able to access everything you've uploaded to the gallery, you might still be able to salvage some sims this way.

Also, if you made a family in CAS and then moved them into a house right after, good news - a copy of them is already saved in your library! So there's definitely some hope?

I don't know what mod this could be, but I've seen people complaining about this issue in the past. I've never personally ran into this issue, but it's likely a script mod. Hard to say: I don't know what cc and mods you have in your game. You might just need to clean out your mods and CC folder until your find the culprit (50/50 method). If you don't have everything organized into subfolders, this would be the perfect opportunity to do that. I'll do some digging though, I'm sorry I can't be more helpeful with this.

An original gameboy i recently got from a family member because they were clearing out stuff and knew i liked old stuff. It’s coroded and needs a good clean for it to properly work again but I honestly just want it for show because i own the gba sp which hurts my eyes less.

My gameboy advance sp i have owned since i was little this thing is a champ! It doesn’t power on normally and i have to do a whole start up ritual but she’s strong!

Then we have my ds lite. Iiii used to own like 3 of these but my last remaining one recently decided it had seen enough and …. Snapped in two. It survived a very rough life for a while i was an extremely clumsy kid and that thing got dropped… so often. I actually managed to score this new one for like 25 euro’s at a con. Cuz it didn’t come with a charger or stylus, but thankfully i own plenty of stylus’s. And another fender SOLD THE CHARGERS FOR CHEAP! I also got 2 games and ended up with a whole new ds lite for like 50 euro’s!

And finally my baby my problem child… my new 3ds xl. I was originally gonna get a 3ds for my birthday but when at the store the guy told us that if we waited just a little the new 3ds would actually come out so waiting for that would probably be better (and more expensive) so we did! This bad boi has survived sooo long. The paint on the back started to chip so I actually got an accessory that works as a stand and a hand grip so your hands don’t cramp up. and it has had a screen replacement and a joystick replacement. But he’s still going strong!

I also own a switch but it’s not really old and didn’t have it on hand.

Then we have my gba games! And Pokémon silver but I couldn’t find it.

First up my copy of Pokémon fire red! I got it for cheap plated it a bit then restarted and for a second I thought my screen had finally quit life because i was face to face with a yellow ratata THANKFULLY I actually like ratata and raticate on my team so i threw a ball at it… only to be transported to the pokedex menu and go…. Wait a minute…OH MY GOD! So I accidentally caught a shiny 😅 i named her Shimmer and haven’t touched that save file since.

Then we have 2 games I bought PURELY for nostalgia

And disney princess royal adventure I LOVE THAT GAME honestly if anyone wants to just play a feel good cozy walking game with little minigames this is such a nice game the graphics are fantastic and it’s just soooooo cozy (it is a glorified walking sim though…. It’s mostly walking walking and more walking)

You also may have burned down a bakery in the friend’s series BUTTT THATS NOT IMPORTANT lol

Error Codes 12 and 16.

Error Codes can happen when the save file is too big, or the device system has unavailable resources to continue the gameplay. Below we're sharing a few tips to help prevent these Error Codes.

Turn off unnecessary programs through Task Manager. Extra programs eat up the memory the game needs to run.

In-game, always make sure to use Save As, instead of just Save or Save and Quit. Saver is a handy mod that pops up every 30 minutes by default, reminding you to save under a new name. Make sure to save from Map View.

Keep very few files in your Saves folder. Our suggestion is to keep only one or two needed ones.

Regul Save Cleaner to clean up your save files.

Reduce the graphic options in-game.

Reduce gaming time - play for up to two hours. Fully close the game. Remove unnecessary items (generated cache files and Save files except the last one made). Start your game again. This should prevent issues like memory leak.

For Error Code 16, make sure to get Porter to pack up your family, their house and move to a new town for a fresh start.
