So I started playing the Ukulele. So far so hard, but what's harder than I expected is trying to sing along. I can't sing. So I'm thinking of taking a few singing lessons. (All for my own amusement.) However, they scare the shit out of me. Ironically that should be more reason to take them. But I'm not sure. So here we go.

Marius Pontmercy listens to The Beatles.
WHY DO I PROPOSE THIS? it’s quite silly actually.
So whenever I go to my singing lessons and have a crack at Empty Chairs - EVERY TIME - WITHOUT FAIL - at the end of the song as it fades out my singing teacher on her piano will start ominously singing:
“ahhhh, look at all the lonely people…”
because it feels similar as she plays it.
Therefore Marius is a massive Beatles fan and he won’t show it in front of the Les Amis but get him tipsy or by himself and suddenly he’s the next just dance champion.
I REST MY CASE.

I take singing lessons and I’m currently working on a song where I have to act really adoring/admiring of a character (it’s from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat) so I left myself this note:

i literally have a crush on someone from my group singing class, and i really wanna hear them sing, but my other friends in the group's voices are so strong that i cannot hear my crush properly for the life of me.
the worst thing is that i can just barely hear their voice under my friends voices, but never properly. even when the others don't show up, my voice is too loud as well, but it would be weird if i just stayed silent and listened to them sing in a group lesson.
i just wanna sit there and listen to them singing, their voice is so nice, whyyyyyyyyyaahhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

"Where did you learn to sing?"
Tumblr media
Sitting in her nursery as a young child, Nahilvi shushed the governess that was attempting to tell her something about one family or another. A song reached through space and wrapped around her, violet eyes close and a soft voice is added to the music that filtered in through her window from a party that was being held in the garden.
‘Another love taken to the grave Another one goes right down the drain I keep making all the same mistakes  Running out of reasons I can blame. Thought I had a heart of gold Everything I touch turns to stone Is it my fault I always end up alone? I'm just difficult Maybe I'm impossible Maybe I'm just one step over the edge You're one foot out the door. Maybe I'm emotional Too much to handle ooor….  Maybe I'm unlovable. Is there anyone left to believe? Is there any good still left in me? I keep slipping further underneath I just want a love that never leaves. Thought I had a heart of gold Everything I touch turns to stone Is it my fault I always end up alone? Well, maybe I'm just difficult Maybe I'm impossible Maybe I'm just one step over the edge You're one foot out the door…….” The governess looks at Nahi with wide eyes and places a hand over her mouth before the song ends, “Shush child… you know the Diva does not want you to sing. Maybe tomorrow you can ask you dance instructor to have this played for you, that would be the best thing Nahilvi.”  Nahi’s eyes flared over the woman’s hand, and it dropped from over her mother, “But I want to sing like, Momma.” “No little one, it is your place to dance, singing is not for you. Lady Summerhold says that it is not your talent and you must remain focused on your proper training.” The governess took hold of Nahi’s jaw and looked into the girl’s eyes, “Listen to your mother, but do not sing, Nahilvi, she won’t let you.” Snuffing out a breath, the child looked at the window then crossed her arms across her chest and slouched in a very unladylike fashion, “I want to sing.” The woman closed her eyes and shook her head, “Child you are so stubborn, just listen to the beauty and then learn to dance to it. “Fine!” But Nahi would not obey, she liked singing along with momma, one day she would be a great singer like her mother, she just knew it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Years Pass~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stepping off a small stage, the bar reeked of cheap beer, people around her were almost shouting over one another just looking for the importance of having their voice heard. Moving to the side of the bar she slumped slightly, not even noticing the man that came up to her side.
“Your voice is really beautiful,” he said, “where did you train?”
Nahi smiled with a look of warmth that did not match the brittle expression in her eyes. “Oh I haven’t,” she replied, “I am self taught.”

Just had my singing lesson, I feel soooo energised! ✨ I swear, my music lessons give me life and help me relax all week
Im just giddy lol. I think imma sing some more for myself, work on dark night and some other songs for my band, and maybe record an attempt of Yoru’s song that I’m finally satisfied with (I have like ten recordings of the current version but there’s always something that bugs me about it, I think I’m just gonna post one even with mistakes in the end TwT)
Btw! I’m planning to present dark night to my band so we can maybe make a rock cover of it 👀 I’ll keep you updated! And when my brother visits, we’ll start working on the final version with the guitar. Soooo excited for this 💫
Okay, I’m probably gonna listen to my epic covers playlist while drawing now. Bye! 💚

And now, a list of my favorite things my millenial swiftie voice teacher has said to me:
1. “you have no idea how old that makes me feel” (to me calling a someone i’m in a show with “troy bolton”)
2. “glad to know that that’s still a thing people use” (in reference to Tumblr)
3. “You have the absolute WORST luck with sheet music I’ve ever seen!”
4. “I’m sorry but we might need to pause this lesson if I get the notification that surprise songs are happening.”
5. “We are watching Taylor Swift because…I’m such a bad voice teacher, I don’t even have an excuse for this.”
6. “I wouldn’t be surprised if your directors set the next show in SPACE!!”
7. “Yeah, I don’t *do* rain”
8. “I wrote my college essay on music like a PSA about drugs.”
9. “I often ask my parents why they named me what they named me.”
10. “Normally I wouldn’t censor you, but there’s a little kid in the next room so…”
