Beta Expectations and Our Development Goals
Hi everyone! This document serves as an outline for starting expectations when beginning Closed Beta.
Things to remember as we move into Closed Beta are:
Cursing is allowed! We’ve dialed back our filters quite a bit, but absolutely no innuendo or sexual content. Details are outlined in our TOS.
In this beginning, the application feels closer to the Alpha state than it does the full game. It is in a mid-development limbo, which is why we are stressing that it is the Closed Beta state. Our biggest milestones have been backend technical foundations that have taken significant time. If the game were a cake, we have finished baking the base, which is what we’re starting the testing for. We’ll be making aggressive updates throughout the next few months of the test, which will introduce the “frosting,” and advance general playability. We plan to roll out new mechanics every month. You will find a list below of what these goals are.
Temper your starting expectations, but get excited for how much we’re going to continuously develop and update!
We will not be moving into Open Beta until we feel the game is close to done. Think of Closed Beta as phase 1, and Open Beta as phase 2.
Things will break the moment you try them. This is normal and expected. Always report!
Because of this, things won’t be very fun yet. But as we roll out improvements and new things, users will get to give live feedback on what they want to see and how things feel.
Early Access will be less smooth than full Closed Beta as we detect the kinks of letting more people in en masse. It’s the nature of early launching. Brace yourselves!
In the same vein, several aspects are temporary. Topher takes the place of icons in the queue, and compromises we’ve made for early economic simulation (example: a placeholder merchant to simulate the Processing mechanic) will be barren. NPCs are sketches, UI colors may be temporary, and UI banners are sketches.
Any and all prices of items or features are temporary or subject to change. Things like the price of kit rolling or accessory items will be tooled.
All updates and communications with testers will be posted publicly instead of through email. Eventually, we’ll use the site forums, but not until we can guarantee no more content wipes, and we’ve developed the sticky system on the User Dashboard.
Everything in this test, minus your username, password, account ID, and purchases is temporary. Your account content will be erased at some point in time, and when it is your Kickstarter and Alpha reward codes will be re-activated for use.
If anything is broken about your code, please report! We’ll fix it!
Any premium purchases you make will be restored upon wipes, and exist in this state as a means to support us moreso than to stimulate longterm collecting. By purchasing any currency, you’re helping us develop! But please do not feel pressured!
Bundles will be added come the full Closed Beta.
Pelt submissions are open for user testing, but you’ll have to re-submit upon any wipes.
When you complete registration (entering your DOB and confirming agreement to the TOS), your founder and follower IDs will be reserved, so you can take your time going over the details.
These starting cats will be wiped completely, and when Open Beta begins, follower and founder IDs will be totally up for grabs again upon first-come first-serve login and confirmation.
We’ll be around to grind for the next two weeks. Then, in two weeks, there will be a bit of a lull as our developers take a breather and regroup, and we’ll be back in March. We’re making this plan known so it doesn’t look like an abandonment or nervous silence. We’re simply planning rest and pacing ahead of time!
We’ll be sending out periodic surveys to get honest criticism and check how the economy is feeling.
The first survey is ready and waiting for your input! This survey focuses specifically on the economy, and can be filled out once per day. Please do not feel pressured to do so every day, but we encourage you to respond as many times as possible. Your input is immeasurably valuable for the fine-tuning of our economy, and guaranteeing the long-term enjoyability of the site. Please find the survey here.
With over 700 items on this site, we may have missed necessary data entry for some as we learn the ins and outs of our own program. Always report and we’ll fix it!
Some accessories are in the re-coloring queue, and if so will have their recolors seeded into the economy as we finish them.
It’s a marathon, not a sprint. We’re ready to hit the ground running, but it will be a long journey. We’re excited to embark on it together!
Here is a list of things available from the get-go (hopefully useable, if not they will be!):
Cooking and Crafting
Daily Duties
Flea Market and Merchants
Breeding
Dress up and general cat customization
Beta retirement (bare bones)
Cat relationships and cross-cat gift giving
Archetype discovery (we are adding new ones as you play!)
Forum posting and custom board creation (image hosting!)
Cat profile CSS boxes
User profile CSS boxes
Storage and stash functionality for item organization
Bank functionality for currency storage
User customization settings (icon selection, pronoun and slogan editing, Borough swapping, username swapping)
Crest application
Beta guild play (basic errands)
Multiplayer guilds
Incense and metamorphic functionality
Pelt submissions (the refined pelt rules are a work in progress, because for this chaotic testing phase we’d like everyone to go nuts and have some fun! The only steadfast rules are no gore, copyrighted materials, religious iconography, or sexual content!)
Friend requests and adding friends
Premium shop (intended for user support, benefits are bare for at least the next week or so while we focus on user bug reports)
Now without further ado… here is what we’ll be working on in the coming months, in order of general priority! Open Beta will not happen until we finish this list.
Replacing frontend assets with final renders.
Updating item cards to reflect dynamic button displays depending on the page in which the card is being viewed.
User report system for all user-ran content.
Wardrobe functionality; full sandbox dress up available to any visitor.
Infrastructure for sharing sandbox creations in comments and forum posts; text language like :catID: to paste an image link of a cat.
User to user DM functionality.
User to user private trading.
Item database and lore encyclopedia.
Processing functionality + dye system. For now, recolors are seeded in a temporary merchant.
Visual faunapedia record for fauna studying (including unlockable lore.)
Adding a slew of archetypes. Dedicated archetype collection page with user featured display.
Sitewide search functionality of all user content.
Aesthetic updates to comments + addition of comments onto cat pages.
Splitting the Undercoat into two patterns: Dilute (dynamically lightened) and Standard.
Adding a white patch selector into the creator and founder designer.
Dashboard refinement + forum news widget and stickies.
Splitting cooking and crafting to bring back Winnipeg and keep the mechanics more organized.
Farming.
Much of it has been started already, and we’ll continue to share our progress. We plan to stay in Closed Beta likely over the summer, but it will be as long as these developments take.
And then we will move into Open Beta! Where we can focus on the following:
User notebook entries (blog posts.)
Forum board updates to better accommodate posting
Sitewide tagging and filtering.
Cross-account breeding.
Dedicated Guild refinement and updates.
Achievement system.
Referral system.
Team features like a team hoard, team notes, and shared scenes.
Refinement of any feature feedback we get :)
And from there… it’s full launch, baby!
Again, a marathon, not a sprint. This list may seem long and arduous, but we’ll continue visual content updates (patterns, breeds, etc.) throughout the length of development.
Let’s get crackin’, catfolk!

webdev log 2
implemented a gallery. I originally wanted it to be more grid-like but I decided I didn't want to mess too much with that, and I like the simple look anyways. forces you to really take in every shitty drawing.
Tumblr media
it features a search function that only works for tags. its purpose is mostly just to search multiple tags, because I couldn't be fucked to add a feature where you could click on multiple tags there at the tags list at the top. it lists out all used tags in the table that stores art so you have an idea of what there all is.
Tumblr media
at the bottom there's pagination. it's INSANELY easy to do with this framework I'm using. I was gushing about it to my partner on call!! they made fun of me but that's okay!!!!
Tumblr media
anyways, clicking on the date underneath the drawing takes you to a view with the image itself (a kind of "post", if I can call it that) here you can view comments and leave one yourself if you so desire. guests are NOT allowed to reply to existing comments because I'd rather things not get too clogged up. I can't stop anyone if they did an "@{name} {message}" type comment, but I don't think anyone is gonna be chatting it up on my site, so idc. I just want it very minimal, and no nesting beyond one single reply.
Tumblr media
of course, you can comment on story chapters too so here's what it looks like for a user (me). of course, if a user (me) posts then it gets automatically approved.
the table that stores comments differentiates story comments and art comments with foreign keys to the primary keys of the the chapter and art tables. it's a little convoluted and I kind of wish I didn't do it this way but it's too damn late isn't it. but honestly it might've been the only way to do it. the problem is just repeating code for both chapter and art views.. making a change to one means I gotta manually make the same change to the other. huge pain..
Tumblr media
added user authentication and a really shitty bare bones dashboard for myself to approve/reject comments directly on the site in case someone comes along and wants to be mean to me :( rejecting a comment deletes it OFF my site forever. though I kind of want to be able to keep hate mail so I dunno.. oh, and also a big fat logout button because I have nowhere else to put it.
I'll spare everyone the more technical ramblings.
anyways, I'm hoping to add more things later. these are my plans:
allow users (me) to post stories/art through the site itself instead of doing it manually in the vscode terminal for every. single. story. and drawing. (probably took me 6+ hours total just doing this. I don't know why I did it.) (btw this consists of writing commands to store information via the terminal. also, sql and similar databases don't store things like markup or even line breaks. I had to alter all my stories and put \n every time there was a line break... and you have to escape apostrophes (or quotes, depending on which you use) so every "it's" had to be made into "it\'s" HUGE. PAIN. I didn't do this manually obviously but sifting and plugging my stories into character replacers was so time consuming)
delete comments button.... For my eyes and fingers only
make an About page. I've been avoiding all the fun things and doing just the scary stff
figure out SSH stuff...
clean up the shitty css. I refuse to use tailwind even tho it's trying to force me.. I don't want some sleek polished site I want it look like it's in shambles, because it is
but yeah thanks for reading about my webdev and coding journey. even though using the laravel framework made things a thousand times easier it's still a crazy amount of work. let's say building a site completely from scratch means buying every material and designing the house yourself, and using a website builder like wix is just like buying a pre built home and you're just decorating it. using this framework is like putting together a build-your-own-house kit. you're still building a fucking house.
I feel crazy. it felt like the site was close to breaking several times. been sleep deprived for several days working on this nonstop I think I'm getting a little sick 😵‍💫
going to bed now. it's 9 am.

[Dbd] Wanderlust
A small post-Entity one shot I wrote this summer and apparently never posted 💚 No ships, just some survivor bonding (and bickering 😂) Rated G | 1.2k words | ao3 link
The plane lurched to the side and Haddie did the same in her seat, her pencil sliding across the map of Malta and drawing a line in the Mediterranean sea. She huffed in annoyance and wordlessly reached to buckle her seat belt.
Next to her, Élodie did the opposite and pushed up from her seat with an exasperated groan.
“Just a little turbulence!” Ace’s voice sounded from the cockpit. “Nothing to worry about!”
“This tin can is awful!” Élodie complained. She wobbled to the front of the small plane, steadying herself on any solid objects as the plane shook from the turbulence.
“Aww, don’t worry, baby,” Ace said, affectionately patting the outdated flight instruments in front of him. “She’s just jealous of all your vintage glamour.”
“It’s a piece of scrap metal held together purely by duct tape and wishful thinking,” Élodie retorted. “In fact, I’m amazed we haven’t crashed yet.”
“Eh, I’ve flown in worse,” Zarina piped up from the co-pilot seat. Based on the fact that she had her feet propped up on the dashboard and was leaning back in her chair, she didn’t seem to be doing much of said piloting.
“See?” Ace told Élodie, then added with a grin, “If you’re so peeved about my plane, why don’t you ask your sugar daddy to buy us a shiny private jet instead?”
Zarina snorted while Élodie merely glared down at Ace.
“You refer to Felix as that one more time and I’m ejecting your seat,” she threatened.
Ace gasped. “But then who’s going to fly you all over Europe to do your Scooby gang shit? I’m not letting just anyone touch my plane, you know.”
“You’ll hopefully be a pancake on the ground, so I don’t think you have much say in the matter,” Élodie countered.
“Human pancake. Yum,” Sable offered. She was sitting in the back of the plane, busy with painting her already black nails even blacker regardless of the bumpy ride.
Zarina sighed before turning to look back at Haddie. “How’s the map coming along?”
“Good,” Haddie said. She waved the thin folder with the Imperiatti insignia that contained their information on the case. “It should only take a day to investigate the site and talk to all the witnesses. It’s a small island.”
“Should we split up?” Zarina asked.
“Dibs on the witnesses!” Ace hollered. “I’ve heard Maltese women are stunning.”
“Me and Haddie should go to the site to investigate,” Élodie said. “I brought my archaeology kit just in case.”
“I’m coming with you,” Sable said. Nobody protested: keeping Sable away from people was usually the way to go if they wanted their witnesses to not shit their pants from fear.
“I’ll go with Ace,” Zarina said, fiddling with her voice recorder. “And Vittorio?”
Haddie glanced at the man in question. Vittorio didn’t even appear to have heard the question; he sat completely silent on the seat opposite of Haddie, staring intently at the floor. His face was ashen and he desperately clutched the Lidl plastic bag they’d acquired on their pre-flight shopping trip in Coburg.
Considering this was his first time ever flying and he’d chosen to do it with Ace as his pilot, he was doing remarkably well.
“You okay?” Haddie asked, nudging Vittorio’s shoe with her own.
He looked up and gave her a shaky smile. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”
“You didn’t have to come,” Zarina said.
“I will have to get used to flying sooner or later,” Vittorio said with determination. “The Imperiatti works all over the world and I don’t want to be hindered by this should my help be required somewhere.”
“You could have stayed in Germany with Ursula.” Ace’s head popped into view as he leaned to look back at them. “She sure seemed interested in getting intimately acquaintanced with you and your…knowledge.” The sentence was accompanied by the wagging of eyebrows.
Haddie rolled her eyes while Vittorio grimaced: from nausea or the innuendo was anyone’s guess.
“She’s a very capable woman, but I don’t see how that’s relevant—” Vittorio started.
“Air pocket,” Zarina abruptly cut him off.
A split second later, Haddie’s stomach dropped as the plane jumped and tilted to the left, before Ace grabbed the controls with a curse and righted their course.
Vittorio squeezed his eyes shut and swallowed a few times before rasping, “Can you please focus on flying?”
“I am!” Ace protested. “Just trying to lighten the mood.”
“Vittorio’s already having a hard time,” Haddie said. “So keep the plane steady unless you want projectile vomit all over your ‘baby’.”
Élodie visibly cringed. “Eugh, please, no puking.”
“Speak for yourself, I love puke,” Sable said. Somehow, her nail polish bottle and drying nails were still completely unscathed.
Élodie stared at her. “Remind me why we brought you along again?”
Sable responded with a sickly sweet smile. “Because I’m not going to get spooked by lawn furniture and run away screaming like a little bitch.”
“I told you, the canopy curtain looked like the Nurse from where I was standing!” Ace protested.
“Yeah, it probably did,” Haddie hurried to defuse. “And I sensed some weird energies in the area. I most likely would have been startled too.”
“Exactly!” Ace said.
Élodie looked at Haddie with a raised eyebrow, but Haddie just shrugged. She really didn’t want to hear more of Ace’s excuses about the sun in his eyes, or how he was just running away to get help, or “Felix’s girlfriend told me the manor is haunted, so of course the Nurse could appear at the garden party!” when the reality was most likely a few too many German beers.
“Maybe it did look like the Nurse,” Sable conceded, then grinned wickedly and added, “if you’re a little bitch.”
Ace let go of the flight controls to turn and point at Sable, eyes narrowing as he snapped, “Okay, listen here you fucking brat—”
“Fly the goddamn plane!” Haddie, Élodie and Zarina yelled almost in unison.
In the end, they made it to Malta relatively unscathed. Haddie successfully marked all their destinations on her map of the island, Élodie secured all their bags, Sable finished painting her nails, Zarina radioed the airport and got them permission to land, Ace got them back onto solid ground with most of the plane’s rusty landing gear still intact, and Vittorio only puked once into his bag.
The others were grumbling about the rough flight and even rougher landing as they exited the plane, but Haddie was smiling as she felt the familiar adrenaline rush of an unsolved mystery. Now, they only had to figure out if the rumors of shadowy figures lurking in the woods were an urban legend that got out of hand, or something more sinister like a paranormal occurrence or the Black Vale trying to regroup after the Entity’s defeat.
She’d never tell the Imperiatti, but she actually hoped it was one of the latter. Returning to normal life after years in the Entity’s clutches hadn’t gone well for her—and based on the ragtag group of fellow survivors who had eagerly volunteered their help for the trip, she wasn’t the only one still craving the thrill of danger.
A new adventure was just what they needed.

being of this lovely hellsite since 2007 I saw all the evolutions and... we hate them all, everytime. but, of the three biggest changes (comments, chat and reblog structure), the only one that we embraced better is the chat (it's not like I use it much, but maybe other do?). comments are ok, but it allow people to make a comments instead of actively participating in the conversation through reblogs. I mean, they're ok in post where a reblog might be too much, but with some people they're just... meh. and yes, sometimes the branch reblog structure is missed, but we're used to the new one.
I also remember when using tumblr without x-kit was, indeed, an hellish experience. not like today, when if you don't have it you can still manage around, it was literally impossible to have a not "I'm going to kill this site" experience without it.
so, I have to be honest, after the communication the they will not get rid of the chronological navigation, the most anxious point, for me, is the conversation one.
people: it is working right now. it's working for everyone that had used tumblr for more that two weeks. not only it's not difficult @staff, but it's also the very way that distinguish us from other socials.
if we preferred other ways of communicating, we wouldn't have stuck with it during all the 16 years of mayhem till today. we LOVE how we're communicating right now and trust me, as a UX designer, completely eliminating the learning curve on a social platform it's impossible. you do have some ux problems, but not on the dashboard. it's mostly in the menu and every time you wan to change some settings that is not completely intuitive (also, you're search DO need a much better way to work).
honestly, the only thing you should do on your list, it the last one: FIX THE DAMN APP.
I discover new tumblrs and creators regularly, because my mutual do and reblog them and they probably do the same, etc. it's a chain and it's working. when I'm feeling adventurous, I follow a tag, or search for something.
creators are very well loved and supported here. the creative community is not only very active but prone to teach stuff to us civilians. now, if you're able to put more creators in my dash (since I can't afford to pay for the free-from-ads anymore) that's ok, but DON'T PUSH IT.
please, don't make us more like the others? we are not becoming a refuge from other social for nothing. don't change things too much.

Not 20 years on FF myself because I got my first PC later (I was 18yrs old) in 2002. But I think I got FF before 2006 for sure. Maybe even in 2004, who knows. Back then I still had the old 56k so I didn't use much internet anyway. Chrome has it usefulness at times, but the downsides definitely surpass the good things. Anyway. OP. I can't believe you haven't added:
Firefox Multi-Account Containers. A life-changer if you have multiple accounts on the same site. It keeps each logged session in their own sand-box so you can stay logged in with up to 5 different accounts (4 containers + no-container) at the same time. Useful if you have, like me, two Tumblrs or have two Twitter (personal/real-life and arts/fandom) or 4 different accounts on The Old Reader (a way to follow hundreds of Tumblrs and not miss anything!). No more switching log-out-to-log-in-with-different-username. No more "Sorry I replied with the wrong account I didn't notice I was logged in with my other Tumblr!".
I've been literally using since ages also (let me know if you know these are bad!):
Cookie AutoDelete. You whitelist the sites you want the cookies to be saves (=sites you want to stay logged in) and the rest is immediately deleted.
Empty Cache Button. Click on the button and you clear all the cache (=images and every stuff the browser downloads on your PC each time you load a site). It's useful if you don't have FF set to automatically clear the cache when you shut down the browser / you don't want to delete your chronology often. Also useful if you need certain elements to be reloaded (like when you update an image on Tumblr), since at times a simple refresh of the page isn't enough and you still get the older image.
Stylus. To change or customize the style of any site. It basically does what X-Kit does with the Old Dashboard function, provided you have the code/css to install. I use it to tell the browser to automatically hide the "log in to facebook" banner and other elements like the IM button on a Tumblr post. But when sites make huge redesigns, you might find someone who writes the code to bring back the old style.
And install Snap Link. Once you did you'll wonder how you managed to live without it! I weep when I'm browsing on mobile because I don't have snap link. D:
So You've Finally Switched to Firefox: a Brief Guide to a Some Very Useful Add-Ons.
This post is inspired by two things, the first being the announcement by Google that the long delayed Manifest V3 which will kill robust adblocking will finally roll out in June 2024, and the second, a post written by @sexhaver in response to a question as to what adblockers and extensions they use. It's a very good post with some A+ information, worth checking out.
I love Firefox, I love the degree of customization it offers me as a user. I love how it just works. I love the built in security features like DNS over HTTPS, and I love just how many excellent add-ons are available. It is a better browser than Chrome in every respect, and of the many Chromium based browsers out there, only Vivaldi comes close.
There are probably many people out there who are considering switching over to Firefox but are maybe putting it off because they've got Chrome set up the way they like it with the extensions they want, and doing all that again for Firefox seems like a chore. The Firefox Add-on directory is less expansive than the Chrome Web Store (which in recent years has become overrun with garbage extensions that range from useless to active malware), but there is still a lot of stuff to sift through. That's where this short guide comes in.
I'm presently running 33 add-ons for Firefox and have a number of others installed but disabled. I've used many others. These are my picks, the ones that I consider essential, useful, or in some cases just fun.
Adblocking/Privacy/Security:
uBlock Origin: The single best adblocker available. If you're a power user there are custom lists and scripts you can find to augment it.
Privacy Badger: Not strictly necessary if you're also running uBlock, but it does catch a few trackers uBlock doesn't and replaces potentially useful trackers like comment boxes with click-to-activate placeholders.
Decentraleyes: A supplementary tool meant to run alongside uBlock, prevents certain sites from breaking when tracker requests are denied by serving local bundled files as replacement.
NoScript: The nuclear option for blocking trackers, ads, and even individual elements. Operates from a "trust no one" standpoint, you will need to manually enable elements yourself. Not recommended for casual users, but a fantastic tool for the power user.
Webmail Ad Blocker: The first of many webmail related add-ons from Jason Saward I will be recommending. Removes all advertising from webmail services like Gmail or Yahoo Mail.
Popup Blocker (Strict): Strictly blocks ALL pop up/new tab/new window requests from all website by default unless you manually allow it.
SponsorBlock: Not a fan of listening to your favourite YouTuber read advertisements for shitty products like Raycons or BetterHelp? This skips them automatically.
AdNauseam: I don't use this one but some people prefer it. Rather than straight up blocking ads and trackers, it obfuscates data by injecting noise into the tracker surveillance infrastructure. It clicks EVERY ad, making your data profile incomprehensible.
User-Agent Switcher: Allows you to spoof websites attempting to gather information by altering your browser profile. Want to browse mobile sites on desktop? This allows you to do it.
Bitwarden: Bitwarden has been my choice of password manager since LastPass sold out and made their free tier useless. If you're not using a password manager, why not? All of my passwords look like this: $NHhaduC*q3VhuhD&scICLKjvM4rZK5^c7ID%q5HVJ3@gny I don't know a single one of them and I use a passphrase as a master password supplemented by two-factor-authentication. Everything is filled in automatically. It is the only way to live.
Proton Pass: An open source free password manager from the creators of Proton Mail. I've been considering moving over to it from Bitwarden myself.
Webmail/Google Drive:
Checker Plus for Gmail: Provides desktop notifications for Gmail accounts, supports managing multiple accounts, allows you to check your mail, read, mark as read or delete e-mails at a glance in a pop-up window. An absolutely fabulous add-on from Jason Saward.
Checker Plus for Google Drive: Does for your Google Drive what Checker Plus for Gmail does for your Gmail.
Checker Plus for Google Calendar: The same as the above two only this time for your Google Calendar.
Firefox Relay: An add-on that allows you to generate aliases that forward to your real e-mail address.
Accessibility:
Dark Reader: Gives every page on the internet a customizable Dark Mode for easier reading and eye protection.
Read Aloud: A text to speech add-on that reads pages with the press of a button.
Zoom Page WE: Provides the ability to zoom in on pages in multiple ways: text zoom, full page zoom, auto-fit etc.
Mobile Dyslexic: Not one I use, but I know people who swear by it. Replaces all fonts with a dyslexia friendly type face.
Utility:
ClearURLs: Automatically removes tracking data from URLs.
History Cleaner: Automatically deletes browser history older than a set number of days.
Feedbro RSS Feed Reader: A full standalone reader in your browser, take control of your feed and start using RSS feeds again.
Video Download Helper: A great tool for downloading video files from websites.
Snap Link Plus: Fan of Wikipedia binge holes? Snap Link allows the user to drag select multiple hyperlinks and open all of them in new tabs.
Copy PlainText: Copy any text without formatting.
EPUBReader: Read .epub files from within a browser window.
Tab Stash: A no mess, no fuss way to organize groups of tabs as bookmarks. I use it as a temporary bookmark tool, saving sessions or groups of tabs into "to read" folders.
Tampermonkey/Violentmonkey: Managers for installing and running custom user scripts. Find user scripts on OpenUserJS or Greasy Fork, there's an entire galaxy out there of ingenious and weird custom user scripts out there, go discover it.
Browsing & Searching:
Speed Dial 2: A new tab add-on that gives you easy access to your favourite sites.
Unpaywall: Whenever you come across a scholarly article behind a paywall, this add-on will search through all the free databases for an accessible and non-paywalled version of the text.
Web Archives: Come across a dead page? This add-on gives you a quick way to search for cached versions of the page on the Wayback Machine, Google Cache, Archive.is and others.
Bypass Paywalls: Automatically bypasses the paywalls of major websites like those for the New York Times, New Yorker, the Financial Times, Wired, etc.
Simple Translate: Simple one-click translation of web pages powered by Google Translate.
Search by Image: Reverse search any image via several different search engines: Google Image, TinEye, Yandex, Bing, etc.
Website Specific:
PocketTube: Do you subscribe to too many YouTube channels? Would you like a way to organize them? This is your answer.
Enhancer for Youtube: Provides a suite of options that make using YouTube more pleasant: volume boost, theatre mode, forced quality settings, playback speed and mouse wheel volume control.
Augmented Steam: Improves the experience of using Steam in a browser, see price histories of games, take notes on your wishlist, make wish listed games and new DLC for games you own appear more visible, etc.
Return YouTube Dislikes: Does exactly what it says on the package.
BlueBlocker: Hate seeing the absolute dimmest individuals on the planet have their replies catapulted to the top of the feed because they're desperate to suck off daddy Elon sloppy style? This is for you, it automatically blocks all Blue Checks on Twitter. I've used it to block a cumulative 34,000 Blue Checks.
Batchcamp: Allows for batch downloading on Bandcamp.
XKit Rewritten: If you're on Tumblr and you're not using whichever version of XKit is currently available, I honestly don't know what to say to you. This newest version isn't as fully featured as the old XKit of the golden age, but it's been rewritten from the ground up for speed and utility.
Social Fixer for Facebook: I once accidentally visited Facebook without this add-on enabled and was immediately greeted by the worst mind annihilating content slop I had ever had the misfortune to come across. Videos titled "he wanted her to get lip fillers and she said no so he had bees sting her lips" and AI photos of broccoli Jesus with 6000 comments all saying "wow". Once I turned it on it was just stuff my dad had posted and updates from the Radio War Nerd group.
BetterTTV: Makes Twitch slightly more bearable.
Well I think that's everything. You don't have to install everything here, or even half of it, but there you go, it's a start.

How to Use Google Ads and Analytics as a Student Marketer
In the modern digital world, marketing is no longer limited to billboards and newspapers. It’s all about reaching the right audience, at the right time, with the right message—online for new learner. Two of the most powerful tools in the digital marketing course toolkit are Google Ads and Google Analytics for new learner as a students. For students who are just beginning their marketing journey, understanding how to use these tools can be a game-changer.
Whether you are a college student looking to build your resume, start freelancing, or launch your own project, this guide will help you get started with Google Ads and Analytics the smart way.
What Is Google Ads?
Google Ads is Google’s advertising platform that allows you to show your ads on Google’s search engine, YouTube, and millions of websites across the internet. It's based on a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) model, which means you only pay when someone clicks on your ad.
Why Google Ads is Great for Students:
Easy to learn with practice
Used by top companies worldwide
Helps you understand how online advertising works
Can be tested with small budgets (even ₹500)
What Is Google Analytics?
In simple words, it tells you what’s happening on your website—who’s visiting, where they’re coming from, what they’re clicking, and how long they’re staying.
Why Students Should Learn Google Analytics:
Gives deep insight into user behavior
Teaches data-driven decision-making
Essential for any digital marketing job or freelancing role
Step-by-Step: How to Start with Google Ads as a Student
1. Create a Google Ads Account
Visit and sign up using your Gmail ID.
You can skip campaign creation and explore the dashboard first.
2. Understand Campaign Structure
Google Ads is built like a tree:
Campaign → The main goal (e.g., website traffic, sales)
Ad Groups → Sub-groups with specific keywords or audience
Ads → The actual text/image/video that users will see
3. Set a Small Budget to Experiment
Start with as little as ₹500–₹1000. Create a campaign targeting your college project, blog, or even a fictional business idea.
4. Learn Keyword Planning
Use the Google Keyword Planner tool to find:
Keywords people are searching for
Their search volume
Cost per click (CPC)
This helps you choose relevant terms to trigger your ads.
5. Write Compelling Ads
Your ad should include:
A catchy headline
A benefit-oriented description
How to Start with Google Analytics
1. Create a Google Analytics Account
Go to
Set up your account, property (website), and data stream.
If you don’t have a website, try creating a free blog with Blogger or WordPress to experiment.
2. Install Tracking Code
To start collecting data, copy the tracking code provided and paste it into the <head> section of your website. If you're using platforms like WordPress, you can use plugins like Site Kit by Google to do this easily.
3. Explore Key Metrics
Once tracking begins, you can view:
Users: Total number of people who visited
Sessions: Total visits (one person can visit multiple times)
Bounce Rate: Percentage of people who left without interaction
Pages per Session: How many pages visitors explored
4. Use Real-Time Data
The “Real-Time” section in Google Analytics shows who is currently on your site, what pages they are viewing, and how they arrived there.
Combine Google Ads + Google Analytics
If you’re running Google Ads, it’s very helpful to link your Ads account with Google Analytics. This allows you to:
See which ads are bringing the most traffic
Understand what users do after they click your ad
Track conversions (sign-ups, purchases, etc.)
Here’s how to link them:
Go to Google Analytics → Admin
Under “Product Linking”, click on “Google Ads Linking”
Select your Ads account and link it
Real-World Applications for Students
1. Freelance or Intern
Run ads for small local businesses
Offer web traffic analysis to bloggers or companies
Apply for internships at digital agencies
2. Promote Your Own Projects
If you have a blog, YouTube channel, or product idea, use Google Ads to bring traffic and Analytics to measure success.
3. Build a Portfolio
Take screenshots of your campaigns and analytics reports and build a project portfolio.

Launching a new WooCommerce store is an exciting milestone for any business, but success hinges on more than just uploading products and picking a great theme. Choosing the right plugins can significantly enhance your store’s performance, user experience, and long-term scalability. From streamlining checkout to improving SEO and boosting conversion rates, the right tools can make all the difference.
Whether you're setting up a small niche shop or planning to scale into a large online marketplace, having expert WooCommerce Development Services from the start ensures your store is built with a strong, flexible foundation. But once your site is live, enhancing functionality through carefully chosen plugins is a key next step.
In this article, we’ll explore 10 essential WooCommerce plugins every new store should consider—carefully selected for their reliability, relevance, and value in 2025.
1. WooCommerce Payments
Why You Need It: Simplifies the checkout experience by allowing customers to pay via credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay directly on your site. Best For: Store owners who want to avoid third-party payment gateway hassles. Bonus: Fully integrated with your WooCommerce dashboard for easier transaction management.
2. Yoast SEO for WooCommerce
Why You Need It: Enhances your product pages with better metadata, schema markup, and optimized breadcrumbs—crucial for search rankings. Best For: SEO-focused brands that want to compete in competitive niches. Pro Tip: Use this in conjunction with a strong content strategy to drive organic traffic.
3. WooCommerce Subscriptions
Why You Need It: Enables recurring payments for products or services, allowing you to build a reliable revenue stream. Best For: Businesses offering memberships, digital products, or monthly kits. ROI Factor: Subscription models can dramatically improve customer retention.
4. MailPoet
Why You Need It: A powerful email marketing plugin built specifically for WooCommerce and WordPress. Best For: Store owners who want to manage newsletters and marketing automation without leaving WordPress. Feature Highlight: Abandoned cart emails, product follow-ups, and customizable templates.
At this stage, it’s also important to think about maintenance and ongoing support. Many store owners underestimate the importance of long-term care, especially when plugins conflict or new updates cause instability. That’s where WooCommerce Support Services come in—ensuring your site stays secure, fast, and functional even as you scale.
5. Advanced Coupons
Why You Need It: Adds powerful discounting tools like BOGO deals, scheduled coupons, and cart conditions. Best For: Stores that run frequent promotions or seasonal sales. Why It Stands Out: Far more flexible than WooCommerce’s default coupon system.
6. Product Add-Ons by WooCommerce
Why You Need It: Allows customers to personalize products with additional options like engravings, colors, or gift-wrapping. Best For: Customizable product businesses like apparel, gifts, and food services. Conversion Boost: Personalized options often increase average order value.
7. MonsterInsights
Why You Need It: Connects your WooCommerce store to Google Analytics with enhanced eCommerce tracking features. Best For: Data-driven business owners who want to monitor KPIs like conversion rate, bounce rate, and revenue sources. Ease of Use: User-friendly reports displayed right in your WordPress dashboard.
8. LiveChat
Why You Need It: Increases engagement by providing real-time support to site visitors. Best For: Stores with high ticket items or complex products. Customer Experience Factor: Quick responses can dramatically reduce cart abandonment.
9. TrustPulse
Why You Need It: Shows real-time user activity (like purchases or sign-ups) to build social proof and trust. Best For: New stores looking to establish credibility fast. Psychological Edge: FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) encourages more conversions.
10. WP Rocket
Why You Need It: One of the best caching plugins to dramatically speed up your WooCommerce site. Best For: All stores—fast loading pages reduce bounce rates and improve SEO. Added Value: Image optimization and lazy loading improve mobile experiences.
Bonus: Plugins Aren’t Everything—The People Behind the Store Matter Too
While these plugins are extremely helpful, the best results come when they’re selected, configured, and customized by someone who understands the bigger picture of your store’s goals. For growing businesses, it’s often a smart investment to Hire Professional WordPress Developer who can fine-tune plugin interactions, improve speed, and troubleshoot deeper issues that arise as your site grows.
Many plugins are powerful, but combining them without technical knowledge can create conflicts, slowdowns, and bugs that go unnoticed until it's too late. With expert guidance, your site can scale more smoothly—and you avoid expensive downtime or security vulnerabilities.
Final Thoughts
The WooCommerce plugin ecosystem is vast, but that doesn’t mean you should install every shiny new tool. Instead, choose plugins that enhance customer experience, improve site performance, and align with your long-term business model. These 10 must-have plugins will give your new store the functionality it needs without bloating your setup. As your store evolves, so will your needs—don’t be afraid to re-evaluate what tools you’re using and how they serve your brand. And when in doubt, lean on the support of experienced developers and services to keep your WooCommerce store running at its best. For ongoing tips and inspiration from behind the scenes of high-performing WordPress stores, you might enjoy following our work on Instagram, where we share insights, design highlights, and optimization wins in real time.

Some good advice here, and as someone who has been on this site for 1000 years, here are a couple of extra tips:
+ If you have something useful or relevant to the post, don't be afraid to add to it, but as OP says, comments are better in the tags, think of it as talking under your breath. Just don't be afraid to contribute because you think people will be upset, def join the conversation, just don't be spammy or random.
+ Add a profile pic, background, and make a few posts immediately. Even if you don't know what to say, reblog or post something. This is going to signal to other users that you are not a bot, so they won't so readily block you. There's a bad bot problem here, and people are really trigger-happy when it comes to blocking and reporting accounts that look fake.
+ If you're using the site and not the app, install X-Kit Rewritten. It will make the user experience much better, and more enjoyable.
+ Take advantage of the draft and queue functions.
+ And lastly, turn off Tumblr live in your dashboard settings.
apparently tumblr is being flocked by twitter users because the site is dying before our eyes so hi, I welcome you with open arms. this site is not perfect. has its glitches and issues.
some tips:
if you reblog a post and have something to say, keep your comments in the tags.
reblog content you enjoy. reply (if op allows) to posts you like.
you can only post / reblog / queue 250 posts within each 24 hours.
you can only follow 5,000 people
send asks to people who you want to befriend.
you will inevitably become mutuals with a swiftie and or a destiel shipper, accept it.
you can’t have group chats on here like you can on twitter (they tried and well, failed) but you can still make plenty of friends on here without being in a groupchat.
participate in fandom things.
block who you want for whatever reason. curating your own online experience is important!
we celebrate the ides of march and also november 5th 2020.
we start celebrating halloween in july.
do you love the color of the sky? i hope so.
remember: this is my turf and you are now in my homeland.

The Importance of Safety Standards in EPC Projects: Best Practices & Guidelines
Tumblr media
In the world of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), safety isn't just a compliance checkbox—it’s a cornerstone of every successful project. From industrial zones and commercial buildings to infrastructure and utility systems, EPC projects carry complex risks involving machinery, labor, and large-scale site activities.
At Shubham EPC Pvt. Ltd., safety is woven into the fabric of every process. The company believes that innovation and growth mean nothing if lives and environments are compromised. That’s why it upholds strict safety standards and adheres to best practices that ensure protection for its workforce, assets, clients, and the communities it serves.
Why Safety Standards Matter in EPC
Whether it’s a high-rise commercial complex or a massive industrial park, EPC projects deal with high-voltage systems, heavy equipment, structural frameworks, and tight schedules. The absence of robust safety measures can lead to:
Workplace injuries or fatalities
Project delays and financial losses
Damage to equipment and materials
Legal and regulatory complications
Long-term reputation damage
A proactive safety approach not only minimizes risk but boosts morale, productivity, and trust among all stakeholders involved.
Shubham EPC’s Commitment to Safety
As a leading EPC contractor, Shubham EPC has made safety an integral part of its DNA. It consistently:
Develops project-specific safety protocols
Conducts routine safety audits
Trains staff and laborers on best practices
Uses PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and smart site gear
Maintains real-time emergency response plans
Whether it's MEP infrastructure, public works, or private developments, the company ensures that every phase—from engineering to final execution—meets the highest standards of occupational health and safety.
Key Safety Best Practices in EPC Projects
Here are some of the core safety strategies and guidelines that should be applied across all EPC sites:
1. Risk Identification & Assessment
Before construction even begins, potential hazards must be identified and evaluated. Shubham EPC carries out:
Site-specific hazard assessments
Pre-construction safety analysis
Safety zoning and traffic flow mapping
This planning ensures that every decision accounts for safety.
2. Training & Awareness Programs
Knowledge saves lives. At Shubham EPC:
Regular training sessions are conducted for site workers and supervisors.
Safety drills are mandatory for fire, fall, and chemical hazard scenarios.
Toolbox talks are held daily before work begins.
The goal is to create a culture where every employee is a safety ambassador.
3. Use of Advanced Safety Gear
Basic gear isn’t enough for modern sites. Shubham EPC equips its workers with:
Smart helmets with sensors
High-visibility vests
Noise-canceling ear protection
Flame-resistant clothing
Fall-protection harness systems
In some advanced projects, they also utilize IoT-enabled wearables to monitor worker vitals and site movement.
4. On-Site Safety Supervision
Dedicated Safety Officers are present on every Shubham EPC site. Their job includes:
Monitoring compliance
Handling incident reports
Enforcing safety checklists
Coordinating with medical teams if needed
These professionals are trained in ISO safety standards and local regulatory laws.
5. Documentation & Compliance
Safety isn’t complete without proper paperwork. Shubham EPC maintains:
Digital safety logs
Checklists for PPE, electrical, scaffolding, and lifting equipment
Audit trails for inspections and safety meetings
Real-time dashboards for tracking incidents and resolutions
This transparency helps in internal control and in satisfying government compliance requirements.
6. Emergency Response Planning
Despite precautions, incidents can happen. Shubham EPC has:
Fire exits and alarms at every active site
Medical kits and certified first responders on-site
Tie-ups with local hospitals
Evacuation route maps in regional languages
Preparedness reduces panic and ensures faster recovery from any situation.
Safety in Specialized EPC Areas
MEP Projects: High voltage risks and complex systems require precise insulation, grounding, and ventilation planning. Shubham EPC ensures its MEP contractors in Pune are certified and follow strict protocols.
Infrastructure Projects: Whether it's highways, bridges, or stormwater drains, working near public spaces requires barricades, signage, and traffic redirection—all of which are standard at Shubham EPC sites.
Industrial Units: With hazardous materials and large-scale machinery involved, the company enforces chemical safety handling and machine isolation procedures rigorously.
Continuous Improvement: A Core Safety Principle
What sets Shubham EPC apart is their commitment to Kaizen—continuous improvement. After every project, the company:
Reviews safety performance
Incorporates feedback from staff
Upgrades tools and technologies
Updates training modules
This ensures that every project is safer than the last.
In today’s competitive EPC environment, cutting corners on safety can result in catastrophic consequences. Shubham EPC Pvt. Ltd. believes that safe projects are successful projects, and this philosophy drives their on-ground execution every single day.
With industry-leading safety practices, smart planning, and continuous learning, Shubham EPC is setting a benchmark not just in Pune, but across India’s EPC landscape.
