Body positivity be upon ye. In the form of me drawing parts of myself. Actually I drew these a while ago but I’ve decided to post them again. The ones you see are also actually edited, the originals are brightly colored which is why I had made these muted down versions

Skin Discoloration and Dark Spots: Understanding and Solutions
Tumblr media
Skin discoloration and dark spots can be bothersome, but there are effective solutions available. In this guide, we'll explore their causes, prevention strategies, and treatment options to help you achieve clearer, healthier skin.
Understanding Skin Discoloration:
These concerns often manifest as patches, freckles, or spots on the skin due to factors like excess melanin production, sun exposure, aging, hormonal changes, inflammation, and genetics.
Causes of Skin Discoloration:
1. Sun Exposure: UV rays can stimulate melanin overproduction.
2. Aging: Skin's natural rejuvenation slows down over time.
3. Hormonal Changes: Pregnancy, birth control, and therapies can trigger melanin production.
4. Inflammation: Skin trauma, like acne, can lead to discoloration during healing.
5. Genetics: Some individuals are more prone to skin discoloration due to genetic factors.
Prevention Measures:
1. Sunscreen: Apply SPF 30 or higher sunscreen before going out.
2. Protective Clothing: Wear hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing.
3. Skincare Routine: Establish a consistent routine with gentle exfoliation and moisturizing.
4. Healthy Diet: Antioxidant-rich foods support clear skin.
5. Hydration: Drink enough water for proper skin hydration and cell turnover.
Treatment Options:
1. Topical Treatments: Products with hydroquinone, retinoids, or vitamin C can lighten dark spots.
2. Chemical Peels: These remove the top skin layer, revealing less discolored skin.
3. Laser Therapy: Targets and breaks down melanin deposits for a more even skin tone.
4. Microdermabrasion: Gently exfoliates the skin's surface to reduce dark spot appearance.
In Conclusion:
Skin discoloration and dark spots are common, but they can be managed with the right approach. Protect your skin from the sun, maintain a proper skincare routine, and seek personalized advice from a dermatologist. With dedication and treatment, you can achieve radiant, confident skin.

Yes I am very VERY tan (for being Asian and also just in general) and plus bad lighting equals damn I look pretty dark here. But I felt like these looked better/more accurate than my "good lighting" photos or w a filter that might make me look lighter than I really am. 😭😭
