the company i work for decided that its switching from the german formal "You"(Sie) to the informal "you" (Du) in all of our websites so now we have to scour the entire database to change it and i quite frankly hate that, not just bc the unecessary extra work but especially bc its such a weird and unecessary change
i bet its bc everything here is getting englishfied (both literally and culturally it feels like, when my new boss talks its half in english bc every second german word is just replaced by an english one despite there being perfectly fine words for it in german too, its so annoying) and bc they want to sound more personal in hopes of getting more clients bc 'company is your fwiend uwu!!', i know this here is the amercian tm site so you wouldnt understand really but i do not want to be greeted with 'du' by companies, no, thats too personal, you dont know me and im not giving you my data, stay away!!
i guess thats how i would describe it .. the formal you is like a polite distance, like someone you dont know staying outside your personal space, but when its the informal 'you' it feels invasive unless i told you you can call me that, and that goes double for companies
maybe its a small thing that doesnt seem important but i cant stand it, im just a little part time worker doing data work so i got no say in it but the companies founder also announced hes giving his post to his kids some time ago so ...... since then theres been alot of changes and new projects that solely aim to imitate whats popular and whats done by other companies, despite ours being one that is, or used to be, intentionally different, like, that was the POINT, but i guess chasing trends is just too appealing for CEOs

📍Valenciennes, France
A simple door, but anything but quiet. Painted a blue so saturated it nearly hums, it stands in stark contrast to the flaky pale texture of the wall that tries to contain it. This isn’t just about color—it’s about contradiction. Color against decay. Boldness framed in neglect.
I shot this handheld on my smartphone. The day was overcast, giving me soft, even light—no harsh shadows, no highlights clipping across the texture. Smartphones don’t always handle extremes well, but here, the conditions played into the strengths of the sensor. The door holds its depth; the plaster gives up its story.
I framed the shot dead-center to honor the symmetry, but it’s the wall’s wear that steals the perfection back. Moss at the base. Plaster pulling away to reveal old brick and stone. That tension—between order and erosion—makes it even more compelling.
In post, I cooled the whites a touch and gave a light lift to the texture around the doorway. I used a Curves adjustment on the blue channel to give the door a bit of extra pop, not that it needed a whole lot.
Processed with Affinity Photo v2 and Topaz Photo AI.
Camera: Samsung Galaxy A50 (SM-A505W)

google's ad for its ai (gemini..?) includes people asking questions like they would their friends. "Can I swap mayonnaise for greek yogurt?" "What kind of spider is this?" "How do I wash this thing?"
google’s ad for it's new smartphone includes this photo-taking system that allows you to take a photo of your friend, pass the phone to them and then include yourself in the photo, effectively discouraging human interaction. What is so wrong about asking a stranger to take a photo? And miss me with that social anxiety shit because you know what i’m trying to talking about here.
there are so many reasons why we should not be involving ai so heavily in our day-to-day lives, and this is another one. Google, the Big Tech corp. Google, is literally trying to get us to stop talking to others. To stop asking our friends for advice, to stop asking our parents or older family members an alternative binding agent in a recipe, to stop us from have our independence to figure out through trial and error or just looking it up. It’s very easy to get sucked into the convenience, therefore unproductive to beat yourself up about it. What’s important is you try and reduce what you can, and where you can. This can be said about so many things, even though we’re talking about tech right now.
Start with screentime limits. Delete any accounts that are ai-centered (chatgpt etc.). While Meta and others get increasingly ai dependent, delete what makes sense. I deleted Facebook because I never use it, and I’ve set a 1 hour limit on Instagram. I won’t be deleting it because I get a lot of news about protests and rallies in my area, so connection-wise it makes sense (and it takes less than an hour to get that info anyway lol). I don’t have Twitter, no Tiktok. I still watch a lot of Youtube, and here I am on Tumblr.
Wanna get craycray? Buy a mp3 player and learn how to put your music on that, and stop paying for a music service. Super easy to find a good product with a good return policy on Ebay.
This convenience only feels so good and necessary because of the terrors they created.
We used to be able to pause any video player, and if it buffered long enough, it would always play.
Burning CD’s was once super common knowledge.
Social Media used to be computer-only.
We used to be able to leave the house with less fear of being recorded in some nonconsesual capacity.
Do not let them rob us blind.

This is the shit I've been yelling about for almost 2 years at this point! This is why I won't even give "fun" or "harmless" ai accelerationism a fucking inch because we're not capable of using ANY of this shit for collective positive ends.

You are at McDonalds.
You order a burger, the cheapest thing on the menu. You just need something to get you through your shift at the grocery store. They call your name and you take the bag, returning to your car. You open the bag, take out the wrapped burger, and look at it. It looks wrong, only because it looks so perfect. You shift your SmartGlasses up. The food doesn’t look nearly as appetizing any longer. Generative AI was layering HD improvements over the food in real-time.
This is possible thanks to the McDonalds Auto-App Contract, a system of design where the MegaCorp that owns your SmartGlasses gets paid millions of dollars to make each pair automatically download their company’s Generative AI Filter app and open it while you’re in the vicinity of a McDonald’s. You eat the burger, flaws and all, because damn the so-called evidence. Your personal AI said it was ‘proven’ to make food taste better, but we all knew it was an excuse to cut costs again.
The CEOs were playing Russian Roulette with profits. Anything to cut costs, to get a little more money than the last guy, then ditch before they fail. People always rise up eventually. But the SmartGlasses just made it take longer.
You wish you could just throw your SmartGlasses away, but every company in the world uses them, now, and ditching your SmartGlasses is like ditching your identity. No one would bother to hire someone without this industry-standard proven technology. And still, the only peace you feel is when the batteries die. You know you have to recharge it, but during that wait it’s like living in another world. One that was once beautiful, now made bland enough for holograms to be layered over everything. Your soul twinges for a different life, but you don't have to wait long because the SmartGlasses are solar-powered and they’re fully charged again. Your lunch break is almost over. You can't forget because the timer at the top right of your glasses is ticking down to when you have to be clocked in again.
Off to work.

there's often people being like "actually being anti-AI is just reactionary contrarianism and fear of progress and technology" as a way to like... make people think it's shameful & you should be more nuanced and whatnot but like
if being anti-AI is old man yells at cloud behavior then i'm growing a gandalf beard and angrily waving a cane at the sky until i stop breathing i do Not care if that makes me an uncool unhip neoboomer with bad takes. fuck gen AI

so lowe’s has an AI chatbot instead of a proper job application now. it wants your full legal name and your phone number or email address to “send to recruiters” and then proceeds to ask you all the questions you’d normally answer on a typical job application, excluding tax info and specifics on previous employment specifically at lowe’s
well. I am a HUGE hater when it comes to AI and my personal information so. after a full hour of trying to get the damn thing to just redirect me to the ACTUAL APPLICATION PAGE—which I could not find even though the job description page says you can either apply online OR through the chatbot AI—I decided to bite the bullet and give it a name.
I am now Bungleweed Tumblebutt and I have applied for two (2) positions. I hope if there is any actual recruiter looking over chat histories that they see my vehement dislike of their bot and tell somebody about the hateful Bungleweed Tumblebutt
