After many decades, this event was cancelled at the end of 2023! If you didn't attend this annual rite of Spring, here's what you missed. It was a classic. Hopefully, someone will pick up the ball on this one.

The Ephrata “First Sunday” meet was held at the Ephrata American Legion Post #429 where they served you a hearty breakfast before you hit the road home. The Legion sponsored the March through November event since 1999. Before that it was hosted at the Cloister Restaurant.

This story from the Way Back Time Machine rekindles fond memories of my RD350 Rider Days (which you can find on Tumblr). It was on the way to this meet in the late '70s that I saw my first MV Agusta 750 America – a motorcycle I had only seen in magazines, but had dreamed about many times as a teenager after reading about the winningest Grand Prix rider of all time – Giacomo Agostini. The Cloisters – A Paisano Party In Pennsylvania Dutch Country

“Going to the cloisters” may connote a lifetime of seclusion for some, but to southeastern Pennsylvania riders it means the first Sunday of the month is already here. The Cloisters Restaurant is pretty plain looking from the front, but out back, in the large parking lot, is where the action takes place. For over twenty years it has been an early morning gathering spot located at the western edge of Ephrata - a medium-sized hamlet in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country.

Originally a Ducati meet, with an occasional Moto Guzzi by invitation only, it expanded in the '80s to include Japanese sport bikes and in the '90s to the cruiser crowd. A couple of hundred riders faithfully crash the paisano party for the six to eight monthly opportunities that East Coast weather allows. In the beginning, it was a way for high brow Ducatisti to show off their exotica back when owning a Ducati was a real commitment and actually meant something special. Dealers were few and far between and spare parts were just something someone heard about one time despite being less than a hundred miles from the Ducati importer in Philadelphia. This was back before anyone in the States had ever heard of Ferracci and a young Jimmy Adamo had just met Ducati (in the US) racing pioneer Reno Leoni (you youngsters will have to Google that one).

The road through town, US Route 322 is known as the “28th Division Highway” and is the only continuous southeast to northwest route in the Keystone State. It covers almost 500 miles as it cuts across the Allegheny Mountains linking Philadelphia with Harrisburg (the state capital) and State College (home of Penn State) before it runs west just shy of Lake Erie, but it's not this route they gather for. It's the local roads that attract the riders. Like PA 897 as it winds through the Amish farmland or PA 501 as it goes up and over Blue Mountain. If you want to ride with any of the regulars that strafe the roads you'd better be there early because they are there by sunrise and the parking lot's empty by 10:00 a.m.

If the good food at good prices breakfast isn't enough, you can stop at any of the numerous family style eateries that the area is famous for. Good 'N Plenty (Smoketown), Miller's Smorgasbord (Lancaster), and Zinn's Diner (Adamstown) will all fill you up with home cooking until you plead for mercy. Try the Shoo Fly Pie or Tapioca Ball Pudding for dessert. This is also the area of the state with the curious town names like Intercourse and Bird-In- Hand. Ask if you dare.

February 2nd, Baracoa and local attractions

Breakfast on the 2nd story terrace, local fresh fruit and juice, buns and always eggs with coffee. Very good and nicely done. We hopped on the bus that took us to a local cocoa farm, Daisy was our host and she explained all about the trees and then went to the whole process of harvesting until finished product, in Spanish. I thought she said six months from flowers to mature pods. Once pod is ripe, they use a machete to cut it down and this same machete to cut open the pods. The beans are scooped out as a lump of goods.Large box like troughs, made of palm leaves, are used to dry the membrane off of the beans and these troughs are tilted to the oil from the mixture runs to the bottom. This is use in making the cocoa butter salve. Once the bean pods are dried they have to be cracked open to get the actual bean out (much the same as a walnut). The beans are then sold like that in bulk to the government. But what can be done is to grate it to make cocoa powder or to grinding it until more oils come out to make it a paste and make chocolate balls for baking or chocolate bars.. Purchased some to bring home as well.

From there we hopped back on the bus and visited a home that has made it their mission to help preserve the Cuban painted 🐌 snail, which is on the endangered species list. These people have mango trees that they populate with snails and help to keep the baby snails alive. Ants attack and eat them.

Next we proceeded to our lunch. It was a G Adventures sponsored business of a family owned restaurant on the water. Out table was outside and while our meal was cooking a local lady demonstrated how they make the candy of coconut and almonds. Went through the whole process then proceeded to show us how they make the palm leaf funnel containers for the candy. Purchased one and will be bringing it home.

Lunch was a smorgasbord of crayfish, swordfish, little tiny, tiny fish in a sauce, rice, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce and green beans.

Once lunch was over we walked down to the river. Encountered many young school age children so distributed some of the art and school supplies I had brought with me.

We get to the river and get into a wooden boat, more so a snow and the young man rows us downriver to a place where we land. We proceed to hike for a km or so. Rough going all stone, where we arrive at a beautiful swimming hole. We all swim for quite a while, before hiking back to the skow. The young man rows us back to the landing and we hop on the bus to hit a beach on the Carribean Sea.

Eventually back to our Casa, which is beautiful and we have the penthouse terrace. We all meet for dinner and head to a place, have to admit food was mediocre and expensive for what we got. The rest of the group, all singles in their 30/40’s all head to the bars, we head to our rooms.

Oslo

Our hotel is in the Station complex and we quickly got set up in our room and went out to enjoy a walk around the immediate area. We strolled around the same area we explored last time we were here (but didn’t roam as far this time) and it was wonderful to be outside in the fresh air and with a cool breeze.

We went to an outdoor cafe for a drink and a light meal: burger and fries for me, salmon and fries for Heather, supplemented with a beer and wine to wash it down. I think it was about $A100, but the bill is a little confusing. I think it shows a 25% surcharge for staff (a tip?) plus a 25% surcharge for staff allowances (Saturday penalty rates?) but I am not sure if that is included in the bill or added to it - we will find out in due course!

I have identified 9 bird species in Oslo, all of which we saw on our last visit.

We ordered a breakfast box because we were a little anxious about getting to the train to Bergen early tomorrow and remembered the queue in the breakfast room last time. It turned out to be quite pathetic: a small orange juice and an equally small tub of yoghurt (without a spoon). Not quite the smorgasbord of dozens of hot and cold dishes we enjoyed last time.

We reorganised our bags to create a small overnight bag for our train trip and left the two heavy ones at Reception to be taken direct to our hotel in Bergen.

We slept fitfully but it was a delight to just be comfortable. We were up and moving by 5am - is that 2pm Melbourne time? - and went down for tea and coffee and a chat with the night manager. We were accosted by a rabid Yank when he heard our accent. He wanted to know about travelling to Oz and when he heard that you had to be vaccinated, he launched into a tirade about government control and conspiracies to force people into masks and dangerous vaccinations and they are never gunna get my guns, and on and on - we were very glad to escape! I’m sure he is a devoted Trump redneck.

Appalled by our pathetic breakfast (so was the night manager), we were still there when the breakfast room opened so we joined the rush and gulped down a bit of food and loaded up some napkins with more for the train. I was then accosted by a smart-looking young guy who wanted me to walk into the restaurant with him and get him into the locked toilets too. He wasn’t a guest at the hotel but wanted me to pretend he was and get him in to enjoy a free hearty breakfast. I declined to assist and we headed for the station and found our platform more easily than expected.

THINGS TO DO IN TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA: TERRIFIC IDEAS!

Have you heard of Torrance?

This city, located in Los Angeles’ South Bay, is known for its cultural and ethnic diversity. As a consequence, it is an exciting place to explore (think beaches, eateries, and markets) when visiting Southern California.

This comprehensive guide will give you all the reasons to start planning a visit to Torrance.

THINGS TO DO IN TORRANCE

As a city of more than 147,000 residents, believe me when I say Torrance has a plethora of attractions, facilities, and open spaces available to the public. What follows is my local perspective on the best things to do in Torrance.

STROLL AROUND OLD TOWN

In the early 1900s, a real estate mogul called James Sydney Torrance took the chance to develop a community south of Los Angeles.

His investment paid off since the area incorporated as the City of Torrance in 1921 and grew in size through annexing different pieces of land.

The original planned community survives in what is known as Old Town. The quiet streets are sprinkled with businesses, residences, trees, parks, and monuments to local heroes.

I visit the area mainly to eat. My husband and I love By Brazil, a churrasqueria known for its home cooking and flavorful meat, chicken, and pork cuts. We save money by taking advantage of the lunch special (about $20 per person).

We were beyond excited when Madre Oaxacan Restaurant opened in the area. We adore Oaxacan food and it is great to have tlayudas, mole negro, and tasajo close to home.

For breakfast, we go to Eat at Rudy’s. For pastries (and donuts, ahem), we go to the Torrance Bakery. We meet with friends at Red Car. For something different, I recommend visiting the Chado Tea Room. Try one of their blossoming teas.

After lunch or dinner, stroll around the streets or pay a visit to Del Prado Park.

JOIN A WALKING TOUR

Every 4th Sunday of the month, the Torrance Historical Society offers a free tour of Old Town Torrance. The 90-minute tour will take you to several landmarks and expand your knowledge about the city.

Note: The tour is offered from May to October. Confirm details a couple of days before the tour date.

VISIT HOF HUT TORRANCE

The reputation of Hofburgers spread and business boomed. In those days Hofburgers cost 15 cents and cheese dogs a dime.

In 1947 my father married my mother, Donna, and with the need for a year round business opened the first Hof’s Hut in Belmont Shore. My mother, who was waiting tables during opening day, gave birth to me later that night, September 16, 1951. So I guess you could say I was born to be in the restaurant business.

Looking back over those early years, I attribute Hof’s success to 2 things: my father’s insistence on using only top quality ingredients to make the best breakfasts, burgers, chili, onion rings and fresh home-baked pies in the county and his unwavering focus on providing truly great service. Though they’ve grown a lot in the decades since, with Hof’s Hut restaurants now located throughout Southern California.

VISIT A POPULAR FILMING LOCATION

TV and movie fans will be interested in knowing that Torrance High School has been featured in several well-known productions.

The building gained notoriety for serving as the high school on the popular Beverly Hills, 90210 series. In addition, its facade and patio have been part of TV shows such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Medium and movies such as She’s All That and Bruce Almighty.

ENTER BIVALVE PARADISE AT THE JOLLY OYSTER MARKET

When I told my husband, I was writing an article about things to do in Torrance, he told me not to forget about The Jolly Oyster. Then, he repeated the same thing 20 times.

Per my husband’s mandate, I am suggesting you visit this market specializing in oysters, clams, and crab claws. They have a big local following and excellent reviews.

Actually, this brand started with a truck at the San Buenaventura State Beach (in Ventura, 70 miles north of Los Angeles). We used to stop when driving back from Santa Barbara. My husband was elated when they opened a market in our backyard.

Note: They also serve oysters at Smorgasbord LA, an eating extravaganza taking place every Sunday in Downtown Los Angeles.

GET IN TOUCH WITH NATURE AT THE MADRONA MARSH PRESERVE

The Madrona Marsh showcases the marshland that used to cover the coastal plains of Southern California. Most of these areas were drained in order to develop living and business complexes. Therefore, this marsh is a rare example of how things used to be.

The place provides a habitat for birds, insects, frogs, reptiles, and small mammals. In addition, it is a stop for migrating birds.

The preserve is open to the public every day (except Monday) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. An on-site nature center provides information about the creatures calling home the area and facilitates different types of activities (hikes, workshops, etc.)

SPEND THE DAY AT THE BEACH

A lot of people mention the beach cities of Los Angeles County (Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach) but they do not realize Torrance has 1.5 miles of beachfront.

The long stretch of sand between the Redondo Pier and the Palos Verdes Peninsula is shared between Redondo Beach and Torrance. The Torrance part starts south of Miramar Park (where Esplanade meets Paseo de la Playa).

This beach is less hectic than others in the South Bay so, it is a good place to spend the day without having to share your space with hundreds of people. In season, there is a cafe and beach rental shack on-site. The other nice thing is that the Riviera Village, an area with more than 20 restaurants, is located a couple of blocks away.

Also, keep in mind Torrance Beach is the terminus of the Marvin Braude Bike Trail. This 22-mile paved way starts at Will Rogers State Beach and continues through Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Marina del Rey, and other beach cities. Since you are on Torrance Beach, you can use the trail to bike to nearby beach cities. I love to ride along this trail!

ENJOY A BIT OF JAPAN AT MITSUWA MARKETPLACE

Mitsuwa is a supermarket chain with one of the largest selections of imported Japanese goods in the United States. However, this place is more than a supermarket. They sell electronics cosmetics and pharmaceutical goods. And, we cannot forget to mention the food court serving everything from ramen to tempura.

You can spend a decent amount of time browsing the halls and taking advantage of the samples (usually during the weekends). If you feel hungry, you either can grab something at the prepared food section (the selection is mind-blowing) or pick a stall at the food court. I always take several things home to eat later.

The other cool thing is that Mitsuwa has different “fairs” featuring dishes from the different prefectures of Japan or a specific ingredient. This is a good opportunity to learn more about the culture of the country.

STOP BY THE BEST FARMERS MARKET EVER

Many farmers’ markets in the Los Angeles area get tons of rave reviews. I am not sure if it is local pride but, in my opinion, they are not as good as Torrance Farmers Market.

This market is huge! They have products from 60 farms plus flowers, honey, baked goods, nuts, candy, fish, eggs, prepared food, an international food court, and live music. You have the opportunity to sample a lot of different things and try things you have never tried before. Come hungry because you will need space in your stomach to tackle all the offerings.

HUNT FOR AN ANTIQUE TREASURE

If you enjoy browsing for antiques and unique objects in a lively environment, then you have to stop by the Torrance Antique Street Faire.

This monthly event (4th Sunday) gathers 200 vendors and attracts thousands to Old Town Torrance. The fair has been going strong for 20 years and it is a South Bay favorite. Bring the entire family to this fun event. Admission and parking are free.

SHOP AT THE ROADIUM OPEN AIR MARKET

The Roadium can be described as a swap meet or flea market (even though it is “officially” an open-air market). I am pretty sure you are familiar with the concept but, if not, this is a place where used objects are sold or exchanged. Offerings can be new or never used. The idea is to acquire a good at a lower price than usual.

The Roadium covers a big space and it is well organized. You can find cosmetics, perfumes, clothes, shoes, and bags as well as automotive, gardening, locksmithing, and hardware store items.

The market is opened daily but the biggest number of vendors set up stalls during the weekends. Admission is $1 – $2. Additional parking can be found at a lot, located at the intersection of Redondo Beach Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard. A free shuttle transports shoppers to the market’s entrance.

VISIT A MUSEUM

If your preferences are along with the art, history, and culture subjects, it is possible to sharpen your knowledge of those areas by visiting one of the museums in the city of Torrance.

You have the following options:

Torrance Art Museum – focuses on the contemporary art of Southern California. Admission is free.

California Museum of Fine Art – museum and gallery showcasing works of global artists. Opened from Wednesday to Saturday (afternoons)

Torrance Historical Society – offers local exhibits and archives. Open from Wednesday to Saturday (afternoons).

Western Museum of Flight – aviation museum located at Torrance’s Municipal Airport. Opened Tuesday to Sunday. Admission is $5.

Chen Art Gallery – houses one of the most important Chinese art collections in the United States. Opened Tuesday to Friday. Admission is free.

GO BREWERY HOPPING

Torrance is one of the leaders of the craft beer movement in Los Angeles. I am not sure if another city in the area has as many breweries as Torrance.

These breweries are usually located in an industrial zone and facilities are warehouse style. Most places are “bring your own food” (or snacks). Sometimes, a food truck makes a stop or a taquero is serving delicious morsels.

I am not a beer drinker, so I cannot really tell you which place is better. You will need to find out for yourself. But, let me tell you that the places I am mentioning below are alive, thriving, and expanding. Therefore, they must be good.

Smog City Brewing, Monkish Brewing, Cosmic Brewery, The Dudes’ Brewing, and The Strand Brewing are located very not that far from one another (less than a mile).

Not far away, in Old Town Torrance, you have Red Car Restaurant & Brewery and Yorkshire Square Brewery. Absolution Brewing Company and Scholb Premium Ales are located west of the other breweries.

Standing by itself, next to a 99 Cents store, you will find Hop Saint. The food here is phenomenal.

GET TRANSPORTED TO GERMANY (OR CENTRAL EUROPE)

If you have visited Germany, Hungary, Austria, Czechia, and other countries in Central Europe, you wonder how you will survive without sausages, sauerkraut, and goulash once you get back home.

Well, in my case, I almost cried with happiness when I entered the Alpine Village. The market sells about 30 types of sausages (some prepared on-site), potato dumplings, spaetzle, pickled items, and much more. They also have a bakery, cafe, and deli.

Those looking for a more involved experience can visit the restaurant bratwurst, beef goulash, Weiner schnitzel, cold salads, hot dishes, and desserts. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Kay, so the 1/1 on my double drabble from the other day ended up being a little bit of a fib, thanks to @thefifthsister for suggesting a part 2 yesterday! ;) (Sadly, I wasn’t able to finish the ficlet then, but here it is!)

"Mommy, you gotta cwose your eyes."

She does just the opposite, looking up from watching her son nurse to make eye contact with her daughter. Lily has been awake since before dawn, greeting Kate with a bright smile and the same frenzied energy that she had displayed for the arrival of Santa at Christmas, only submitting to being cuddled between her parents for a short amount of time before she tugged Rick out of bed and insisted they get started on "fings." So far, she shows no signs of slowing down.

"I do?" she asks, tilting her head. "Why baby?"

Lil heaves herself onto the bed once again, giving Jake a careful look on her way closer. He's reclining in his boppy pillow, easy and content having just had his turn for breakfast. The baby kicks his feet as she nears, his eyes widening with joy.

"Hi Jakey," she chirps, rubbing his belly. "S'Momma's Day, did you know it?"

Jake grins, babbling in response. Lily offers a serious nod. "Uh huh. Dat's wight. S'gotta be special for Mommy."

A gentle smile touches her lips. "It already is special for me, Little Flower," Kate murmurs, freeing a hand from under Reece to brush Lily's hair off her cheek. Rick had no doubt tried, but Lily obviously had other ideas; the ponytail holder is still in her hair, it just isn't holding much of the girl's hair at this point. "I have you and Daddy, and Peanut Butter and Jelly."

Lily leans into the affection, offering a skeptical look after a moment. "Ya, but s'not pwesents."

"I think you are," Kate says, leaning over to kiss Lily's nose. "But I do love presents, so if you have more, I'm okay with that, too."

Her daughter beams, nodding quickly. "Ya! But you gotta cwose your eyes."

Kate laughs. "Let me finish feeding Reece first, okay?" she asks, checking her son's face. He blinks up at her, his fingers curling against her breast. "That way I have both hands to open my goodies."

Lily sighs, lowering her chin and offering Kate an exaggerated pout. She does agree, though, bouncing onto her knees and leaning over Jake.

"Don't wowwy, Jakey, I helped pick a pwesent fo' you to give Mommy, too."

"That was very kind of you, Lily."

Lily leans on her hand, tilting her head. "Daddy 'gested it."

Kate nods, pressing her lips together to keep from laughing. "Well, I appreciate it, even if Daddy was the one to suggest it. The boys are still too little to pick things out on their own, and it's very sweet of you to help them."

"I know."

This time, she snickers. Well, she doesn't have to worry about Lily knowing the value of her contributions.

A few minutes later, Reece releases his latch on her breast and stretches in her arms. Kate lifts him to her shoulder, giving his back gentle pats until he belches in her ear.

Lily giggles. "Eww. 'scuse you."

Kate laughs. "We'll teach him to say excuse me when he burps."

Lily hides another giggle behind her hand, nodding. A moment later, she perks up. "Oh, he's done! Pwesent time!"

She scrambles off the bed without another word, tearing out of the room and toward the kitchen where Rick has been for entirely too long not to be going overboard making food. Kate settles Reece on her thigh, looking between her sons and shaking her head.

"What are we going to do with your crazy sister and your crazy Daddy, boys? What are we going to do with them?"

Her sons squeak, clapping their hands in response. Her belly flutters with affection; she's biased beyond belief, but they really are getting cuter every day as their personalities have started to shine.

"Yeah, I think we'll just have to keep them, too."

"Well, I'd certainly hope so," Rick says from the doorway. He offers her a sly, lopsided grin before twisting to let Lily pass. "Careful, Sprout. Walk slowly."

Lily grins over the top of a large wrapped box, taking measured steps toward Kate. She manages to get the box to the bed without incident, hauling it onto the comforter with a mighty grunt. It wobbles a bit, but Lily shoves it toward the center of the bed until it bumps Kate's knee.

"S'fwom me. Daddy has the others," she explains, climbing onto the bed once again. Kate nods, splitting her attention between her squirming daughter and her husband. Rick takes that as his cue to move closer, balancing the tray of food – oh, so much food – and the aforementioned wrapped gifts on his way to the bed.

"Wow," she breathes. Lily squirms closer, draping over Kate's leg in an odd little rendition of a hug (one that involves bony elbows and the possibility of bruises, but it's still sweet). "This is a lot for me, guys."

Her husband's smile deepens. "Don't worry, Beckett, we'll help with the smorgasbord."

She snorts. "You'd better."

"But firs'," Lily says, lifting her head. "My pwesent!"

Castle chuckles. "Remember, Sprout, it's a present from you, for Mommy."

"I know dat, Daddy," she says, trading an exasperated look with Kate. "M'just escited for Mommy ta open mine."

"I'll open yours first, sweetheart. Just let me have just one sip of coffee," Kate murmurs, holding out a hand for one of the mugs Castle has on the tray. Her husband nods but puckers, indicating that they'll be trading a kiss for the coffee. His lips curve against hers when she calls him a cheat.

"Opportunist, Kate, not a cheat," he says, helping her maneuver the mug around their daughter without disturbing Reece in her other arm. The boy seems happy enough to be jostled just a little, giggling when she pitches from side to side with him.

Once they're settled, Rick leans over to lift Jake into his arms. "Don't want you feeling left out, Jelly," he murmurs, pressing kisses to their son's hair.

Kate watches with soft eyes as Rick gets Jake settled. He's so good with them, with all of them – her included.

"Mommy, nooow?"

A laugh slips out before she can stop it. She makes a show of setting the coffee down on the tray once more. "Yes, yes, Little Flower, noooow."

Lily sits up, pulling the box toward them. "Happy Mommy Day!"

Her heart stammers in her chest. No matter how long it's been, no matter how many sleepless nights she has, or tears they cry, sometimes it still takes her by surprise: this is her life. These are her babies; her kooky, bright girl, her giggly, sweet boys. She is their mom.

"Thank you, baby," Kate whispers, clearing her throat.

Lily grins, grabbing Kate's hand and setting it on a bumpy edge of the paper. "Now, wip it!"

Across from them, Rick chuckles. "Yeah, Kate. Really tear into it."

"I'm savoring it," she murmurs, just a little bit haughty.

"That's boring," her husband and her daughter say as one, sharing gleeful smiles afterward. So alike, it's scary.

She just grins, pressing a kiss to Reece's hair. "Wanna help me? You and Lily can help me."

That's enough for Lil; with permission fully given, her daughter starts to tear haphazard wrapping paper strips from the box, exposing the plain brown cardboard enough for Kate to slide a nail under the flap and lift the tape covering the flaps.

Reece grabs for the bubble wrap the moment he spots it, whining at Kate's quick reflexes to snatch it from his hand before the plastic can make it to his mouth.

"Oh no you don't. Bubble wrap is not for gumming."

Lily giggles. "Jus' poppin'!"

"Right," she agrees, handing the sheet over to her daughter to poke at the bubbles. Lily beams, nudging her to continue looking in the box.

A brightly colored, wound handle catches her eye first, but the glazed ceramic teapot she pulls from the box takes her breath away.

"Lil, this is beautiful," she breathes.

"S'a elphant, Mommy!" Lily chirps, abandoning the bubble wrap to beam up at her. "'Cause, 'cause, 'cause you lub 'em."

Kate blinks, clearing away the prick of tears from her eyes. "I do love them, baby. Thank you." She takes a moment to lower the teapot, careful not to bump the delicate piece, before pulling Lily into a gentle hug. "You know, your grandma – my mommy – loved elephants, too. And I started to love them because of her. That's why I have the elephants that were hers on my desk in my office," she explains, resting her cheek on Lily's head.

"But as much as I loved them before, I love them even more now, because I have one from you."

Warnings: Angst, Mentions of Death, mentions of suicide, fluff, slight smut.

“Yes?” you say opening the door and you stared, in awe. No, It couldn’t be. You had banned him from your life, he shouldn’t be here.

“Hey,” He said gently. You know him, he just doesn’t show up for no reason. He needs something from you and you’re not willing to give it to him.

“Niall, how many times have I told you, you can not come around anymore. You are not welcomed here,” you say, you’re mad at him for showing up and you could never not be mad at him. You never want to see him. He had done the most heartless thing. He had stabbed your brother. As much as you wanted to hate him, you couldn’t, you loved him, before harry. You can’t just simply shut anyone out. You loved him and you’ll always love him. But you’re not in love with him, you're in love with Harry. You wanted to hate Niall, with every fiber of your being you except one it’s your soft spot for him for the 3 years you loved Niall, all the good times, and the stupid arguments. Looking at him made you want to melt into his arms and forgive him. But you couldn’t. The devil and the angel were fighting and they both had strong arguments about why you shouldn’t even still be talking to him.

“Do you still not eat carrots?” He asks, random question but you know what he’s trying to do. Niall doesn’t turn up often but when he does he just wants you back.

“Niall, fuck off, I’m dating someone else hell, I’m in love with someone else. I don’t want anything to do with you...” You tell him softly. He hands you a carrot out of the little plastic wal-mart bag he was carrying. You look up at him and look dearly upset. “Why do you do this to me? Stop making me remember. I want nothing to do with you,”

“Babe you can’t just not use carrots in chicken noodle soup,” Niall said through laughter.

“Niall, carrots are the worst vegetable to grow on this planet. I would rather drink ketchup,” you say back to him. Niall snickers at you. “It’s not funny!”

“Babe it’s fucking hysterical, just try it,” he says and drags out it. He picks up a carrot and grabs your middle shoving the carrot in your face.

“Niall! No! Let me go!!” you groan, but you love the way his arms wrap around you it makes you feel safe and you forget about all the sketchy and illegal shit you do. You lay your head on his chest with your eyes and mouth shut.

“Y/n, kiss me,” he says as he spins you around and you comply and look up at him with puckered lips and you shut your eyes, you grins devilishly and sticks the carrot in your mouth, you scream.

“NIALL WHAT THE FUCK!?” you scream at him. He’s doubled over in hysterics. ”Fuck you!” you yell at him.

A tear rolls down your cheek.

“Go away. Don’t you dare fucking come back,” you throw the carrot at him and slam the door.

You sit down with your head against the door and you cry, you rarely cry, you cried a total of 4 times that you can remember. When your mother died, when your father died, and when your brother was stabbed. You witnessed it. You remember it. The sound of the knife going in and Beau yelling your name and begging for help, you could have helped but the sheer terror and the fear that you would be stabbed too kept you from moving. He had killed the one person you had left. You felt weak and scared. The person you wanted to marry had killed your brother. You didn’t haven’t looked at him you just looked at Beau with tears in your eyes. At this point, you had no one to comfort you. You had left everyone. Niall was gone. It was not even said. You just stopped going home. You moved to New York City. It was like you’d completely fallen off the earth until Niall found your Instagram. Damn it. Was the only thing that crossed your mind.

You don’t know how long you were sitting there. Your face felt prickly because of the way you were breathing and your cheeks stung and red because of the consistency of your crying. You stood up and walked to the kitchen to get a drink. You sip your water and hung over the counter, You stood up and walked to your room you stood in the doorway and looked at your lover, he looked so at peace with the world. He was gently snoring, you didn’t want to wake him but you wanted him to hold you so bad. You really needed it.

You decided against waking him up and you just laid on the bed and you stared at the ceiling for what feels like days. When the sun rises you know you cant be seen today. You can feel the bags under your eyes the dark circles and you feel paler. You just felt ill and you wanted to sleep all day.

You didn’t want to tell harry, but you had to, right? Today was a late day a meeting scheduled for about 16:00. So you laid in bed until 08:00 and finally got out of bed and made breakfast. You decided that Eggs and fruit salad would do, plus it filled in the nutrients that Harry needed and fit his vegetarian diet. So you cut up the smorgasbord of fruit you had in your refrigerator and cubed it and mixed together, Harry walked in the kitchen when you cracked the first egg.

“Good morning baby did you sleep well?” you said with a smile.

“I didn’t sleep that well, honestly, I felt like I was waking every 10 seconds, did you sleep alright?’ he answers and yawns.

“No, didn’t sleep a wink, actually. I feel horrid,” you say flipping the pan.

“What happened? Why didn’t you wake me?” He asks he almost has a guilty tone and you can feel that he feels bad.

“Just, just some stuff came up, that I didn’t want to remember. Some memories and shit,” you say to him as you slide a bowl of fruit and a fried egg in front of him then you started washing the dishes.

Harry just watches you, the way you move the way your hair bounces as you walk the way you swing your hips, he can look at you and fall in love again. He wants to ask what happened. But he knew you don’t want to talk about it. He knew very little about your family, but you never talked about it. Harry and Niall used to get on well. But after a fight and a few things they fell off, Harry had met you through Niall, Harry used to have a big crush on you when you first met. He never knew why you and Niall had broken up in the first place Niall and you seemed so happy together. You and Niall were always laughing about some stupid shit. Harry wanted to make you laugh like that, and about 1 year ago he got his wish when he asked you out.

You just always seemed happy or mad. You were rarely mad at Harry though, he got you out of being mad all the time, usually, he’d tackle you and kiss you or tickle you. You loved Harry so much but you couldn’t tell him all your trauma. You just didn’t want to burden him with it.

“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked sticking another piece of cantaloupe in his mouth. You were shocked that he asked.

“Sure…” you said softly you never expected him to ask because you vagued him on it most of the time.

You explained how your mother got really sick and died, then how your dad killed himself, and how Niall stabbed Beau. Harry pieced it together and understood why you moved from the smallest city in Arizona to one of the largest cities in America. Tears continuously rolled down your cheeks from story to story.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner I’m sorry I leave you ou all the time... I wanted to tell you but I didn’t wan-” He stopped you in the middle of your sentence and hugged you. That’s when you caved you just sobbed and hyperventilated trying to catch your breath. He just hugged you tighter. Harry had never seen you break down like this before. You seemed so vulnerable he stood you up and walked you to bed, you were so tired and thankful he did this. You laid down with him with your face against his chest, within minutes you were curled up and fast asleep.

13:00

Harry woke you gently and asked if you wanted lunch, you nodded into his chest and he sat up and you looked at him. He looked like he’d been on a run, but he hadn’t he’d been snuggled up with you. He’ went and made some tea and some macaroni. You slowly sat up and went to the bathroom to wash your face and put some makeup on. Then you headed to the kitchen to find a bowl of macaroni parallel to your boyfriend’s bowl. Harry had already started eating and he would occasionally look up at you while you poured some tea he was in the mood and you knew it, you swang your hips a little more and bounced on your feet more to make your breasts bounce more.

“I know what you’re doing” he suddenly says to you.

“What?” you say innocently and you give him your baby eyes.

“You heard me,” he says forcefully. he’s using his daddy voice and you knew it, you know you got him wrapped around your finger now, but now there’s no going back.

“But m’not doin’ anythin’,” you say innocently. You gave him an innocent look and giggled.

He rolls his eyes and stands up to walk behind you, he grabs your middle and pressed himself up against you, he kisses your neck slowly and lingers for a few seconds on each one. you tilt your neck to make it easier. He slips his hand up to fondle your breast, he runs his finger over your nipple and you whimper lightly as you felt him poke at your bottom. You know you want it, he knows you want it.

He picks you up and puts you over his shoulder, and slaps your bottom. You giggle cause you know your gonna get it. He throws open the door and threw you on the bed. You giggled as he buried his head into your neck, trailing wet kisses.

he flips you over and gives you a good 3 smacks and makes you count them out loud.

“Now are you gonna continue being a bad girl or are you gonna be a good girl and daddy will help you finish up?” he asks you squirm a little.

“I’ll be a good girl I pwomiseeeee,” you whine. He nods and pulls down your pants and licks straight up on your princess parts.

Then the doorbell rings, you squeal and pull up your pants and race to look through the peephole, Harry following behind you.

“I’ll get it, baby,” he calls to you. He peers through the peephole. “Fuckin hell,” he grumbles. He opens the door.

“What the fuck do you want Niall. You’re not fuckin’ welcomed here.” He growls. Upon hearing Niall’s name for the second time in a week you got scared you ran over to Harr and stood with your arms around Harry’s middle. You felt your palms sweat and your face drain.

“I want Y/N, come’ ere baby girl,” your arms tightened around Harry, Harry felt that you were scared.

“No,” Harry scowled at Niall. “Fuck. Off,” you knew that something bad was gonna happen. You Anxiously moved from behind Harry, you tapped Harry signifying to let you pass him.

“What?” you asked sheepishly. You pressed your back against Harry’s front.

“I’m sorry…” he said and looked at the floor. You pressed your body closer to Harry and he wrapped his arms around you.

“You’re sorry? That’s all you have to say? You killed my fucking brother. You took the only person I had left. You destroyed my family. now I have no one, no one at all. there's nothing in this entire world that could bring Beau back. you could sell your soul to the devil and he wouldn't be here. There is no one that I want to hate more than you and I can't believe that this is what you're doing. So please go away I don't want anything to do with you ever again stop coming around.” You said as your eyes welled up with tears. “ the amount of hurt that you gave me. is truly too much for me to handle I can't believe that I'm still here. The only thing you want from me is my love. I gave it to you and you, you ruined it for yourself. I love you but I'm not in love with you I told you this before please just go away.” You shut the door and turned around and cried into Harry’s chest. Harry just rubs your back and shushes you.

“It’ll be ok babe,” he whispers to you.
