Hey what’s up, it’s just about midnight, here’s some information on CompanDroids and Eddie under the cut.
HEADS UP! Some mature/NSFW subject matter
Broad scope:
-CompanDroids were manufactured by Ramirez Robotics 83 years ago.
-They were created to be companions and caretakers, making them strong, soft, reliable, and people pleasers.
-There is a model for each letter of the alphabet, 13 male models and 13 females, alternating. For example, Eddie is a model E, his female counterpart would be the model F. Each pair “matches”
-Each model is based on a different celebrity, from actors, to models, to TV show hosts. For example, Eddie’s face-sake was a Mexican heartthrob actor, Navarro Riviera, and model F was a Mexican Miss Universe contestant.
-There were different cosmetic changes available for a handful of models in the form of hair colors or styles, particularly for those based on actors, styled after their various roles.
-ComDro’s were available in “Standard” and “Deluxe,” Deluxe packages allowed for more functionality, like eating, drinking, smoking, and for a few select models, sex.
-The contracts for these celebrities were murky, and many didn’t realize the full scope of how the androids would function or be used.
-Ramirez Robotics went under 20 years after the release of the CompanDroids (63 years before current)
-CompanDroids are extremely rare, as they were already very expensive, and now vintage.
-CompanDroids, as they are now, are more or less integrated into society as independent people, and mostly seen as an unusual novelty, though the greater public tends to only remember more salacious details about their functionality.
-They remain one of the most high tech inventions of all time.
Looking in:
-ComDro’s have their power bank located at the top of their spine. They run on electricity, and need to charge themselves via a port located on the back of their neck. Eddie has had himself outfitted with a nuclear battery, and has spares.
-They can get drunk or high, internal sensors detect the chemical composition of various substances and adjust function accordingly.
-They have a simulated heartbeat in the form of a faint vibration in the chest.
-A diagnostic panel is located in the left forearm, which has a screen, small keyboard, a few ports, and their serial number.
-The visible seam lines on their bodies are cosmetic, there are many more seams for access that are flush and hard to see.
-Standard models can upgrade to Deluxe models with a kit.
-Certain “involuntary” bodily functions, like becoming intoxicated, sweating, blushing, or arousal, can be manually controlled, or turned off all together by the android themself.
Eddie himself:
-Eddie was a pre-order, specifically picked to look like Navarro Riviera’s character, Sheriff DeLeon, in a romantic drama western.
-Eddie was originally a standard CompanDroid, but worked for and paid for his own upgrade kit as a free bot.
-Eddie’s serial number is E-013, he named himself after how his number would have read as a deluxe edition, ED-013
-He painted his eyes black the night he was “let go,” but didn’t swap to LED light eyes until later
-CompanDroids have feeling in their internal mechanics, Eddie finds the sensation pleasurable and erotic, though is very selective about who can touch his internals in any context.
-To avoid any uncomfortable situations, he toggles his “arousal” routines off during repairs or maintenance, but prefers to feel all sensations naturally otherwise.
-Being an old computer, Eddie is a bit “off” in the software, he is twitchy and violent, but is loyal and can be a great caregiver and people pleaser to his friends.
-Eddie’s CPU being overloaded will cause his voice to hitch and stutter like a computer’s audio would, as well as his eye LEDs flickering slightly. This would happen in an extreme stress situation, downloading large files of information, but most often when he climaxes in bed.
-Eddie has a very skewed sense of age, as he doesn’t age at all. He tends to always think of people having the same age and capabilities as when he met them, like continuing to see Zeki as a naive 23 year old.

How does our dependence on technology affect us in our basic day to day lives including our health, finances, and overall well being?
Our reliance on technology can affect our day to day activities in many ways. One single server maintenance or a crash can change the way we pay for our groceries, fast food and sometimes even our bills. For example, the software update from Crowdstrike paralyzed the online paying aspect for many stores like Chipotle. In the example of the reading, Technology played against the author and their partner by flagging their medical expenses as fraud even though Jason had suffered an accident. Our dependence on technology can have a severe impact on the quality of life if there is a more impactful outage.
How does technology help margianlize minorities in our society?
A great example that was given in this weeks reading was how a Republican governor from Maine released false information regarding families who recieved cash benefits from TANF. He suggested that these families recieved the money and would later spend it on alcohol, cigarrettes and buying lottery tickets. Analyzing the transactions, they concluded that .03% of the 1.1 million that was withdrawn was used for these purchases. Maine would later enact a bill that required families to retain their reciepts from 12 months for state audits. This shows how different forms of technology was used to spread misinformation, make it harder for families to recieve government benefits, and increase the margin between the rich and poor.
How do technological advancements create a negative impact on our society?
I believe technological advancements can play a big role in our society that can improve our quality of life but can also create inequality. In this weeks reading, we go over a case where a person was wrongfully jailed for a crime that happened 30 miles away where he was at. Thanks to facial recognition police officers arrested Nijeer Parks on a crime he did not commit and was jailed 10 days. 3 other cases of wrongful detainment with the facial recognition technology happened which only affected black men. These incidents can create a negative impact on our society and a distrust with our justice system based on a overdependence on these sorts of techonologies.
How has technology helped feminist create equality?
A great example that was given in a reading was how people often mention that feminism is for white, affluent women but this reading shows how feminism is for everyone and also mentions that even those in developing countries have a greater online presence than men. Technological advancements on the Internet help bolster their promotion of equality and also as a great medium in communication.

I want a fic about normal non-spectacular human reader. They're not a spider-person and they have no powers. However, they've been stuck in the spider verse for a long time now and just can't find a way to get back home for some reason. They've been around so long that Miguel and them have been dating for a while......
My attempt at the fic below 👇
They actually work at the spider society doing the tasks that the spider-men are too busy to do. Like filing reports, building watches, tailoring and repairing suits, helping maintain Lyla's software (Lyla and Reader are besties now), ect. The reader has become so capable that when they head back to their universe (if they head back) they'll probably be a certified genius......
They're actually really capable despite feeling like they don't belong (bc they're not a spider-person) but everyone thinks they're really efficient and helpful. The fact that a normal person is able to keep up with the maintenance and care of HQ and the spider people in general amazes them anyway. The only thing is that Miguel doesn't know. They usually don't have a lot of free time together, what with reader's various jobs to do around HQ and Miguel busy running the place. Reader doesn't mean to keep it from Miguel, it just never comes up. And it's basically that trope of like reader walking around working on like some maintenance checklist and then as soon as they turn the corner, Miguel enters the room they just left. It makes sense because reader does odd jobs all around HQ and Miguel doesn't have spider sense anyway.
Until one day Miguel sees reader in the cafeteria talking to the spider fam. He sees reader holding a container of food and assumes they swung by to drop it off for him like usual. He just watches like a creep because he hasn't seen reader in a little while and gets a bit bothered when he sees Hobie swing his arm around their shoulders and lean on them as they converse with the others. And Miguel just stands there thinking, "Wait a minute, when did they grow so acquainted with them?"
He enters the cafeteria and reader turns and smiles warmly as they see him, walking up to say hi to him. Reader greets him softly which makes his lips twitch up in a smile before Hobie slinks around reader again and mentions with an amused smirk to Miguel, "Haven't seen you around in a while. Thought you were allergic to the café."
Reader softly chuckles with a quirked brow, "C'mon, Hob. You know I always grab food for him, it's not his fault."
Miguel's lips pressed into a line as he viewed the interaction up close, thinking to himself, "Hob? You have a nickname for his nickname?"
"Yeah but who gets you food, love?"
"Hobart.", reader sighs with a warning tone being clued in enough to gauge Miguel's tense aura.
"Ouch, the full name, huh? And here I thought I grew on you.", Hobie leans closer to the reader. Smirking not only at their banter but at the intense glare Miguel's shooting at him that he can see in his peripherals. Truthfully, there's nothing romantic between the two of them. Hobie and reader are more akin to siblings with the elder reader handling the younger Hobie's mischievousness.
"Get out of here, you rascal.", reader says with a chuckle, gently nudging Hobie back towards the others and away from Miguel. Hobie only winks at the reader before returning to his seat at the table with the others, knowing exactly what he's stirred up. The group all not so subtly watching Miguel and reader interact, their favorite topic of gossip.
"So, who gets you food?"
"Huh?"
"Who's the one that gets you food?"
Reader releases a wry chuckle, "I usually get my own food but sometimes... Hob."
Miguel stares at them for a second before grabbing their wrist and leading them out of the cafeteria. And reader can only think with a small smirk, "Ah, here we go." , unable to contain their happiness about finally spending time with him despite the context of the situation.
He leads them to his office to discuss what all that was about and as soon as Miguel's about to speak, reader cuts him off quickly as they present him with the food container, "I made chicken molé, it's my grandma's recipe."
He can't help but mirror the smile reader gives him as he gently takes the food, "Thank you."
Reader sighs before speaking, "Look. I know you're upset about how close Hobie is with me."
"I thought it was 'Hob'.", Miguel grumbled.
"Miguel.", reader spoke in a firmer tone, with their arms crossed over their chest as they look at him similarly to how they did earlier at Hobie.
Miguel just sighs as he waits for reader to continue.
"He's just a kid from a really unfortunate universe. I know you know that. I am very grateful that he is able to be that comfortable with me and I wouldn't ever tell him not to be. ¿Entiendes?"
Well when they put it like that... Miguel's shoulders slump a bit as he nods reluctantly, "Si entiendo."
Reader gently cups his cheek as they look up at him lovingly with a soft smile, whispering tenderly to him, "No one will ever hold me like you do, mi amor."
Miguel leans into their touch before wrapping his arms around them, sighing softly in relief into the crook of their neck, "How long has it been since I last held you, querida/o?"
Reader smiles softly as they turned to kiss his cheek while running their fingers through his hair, "Too long."
Soon the moment is cut short as Pavitr's happy voice echos off the walls, "Readerrrr! My suit ripped again and I don't know how to patch a hole like this! Can you put the little- Oh! Am I interrupting?" Pavitr's eyes widen as he sees the two releasing from each other's embrace and reader can sense the smile under his mask.
Reader sighs and hops down from Miguel's platform to take a look at the new hole in the fabric of his suit; nodding in relief as they see he's not injured. Reader digs a necklace out of their satchel before handing it to Pavitr, "Here. Take off your suit for me to repair it. Then put this on and press the center medallion. It's a temp suit but don't go running around with it and don't return home. It has a time limit." Pavitr nods and bounds out the door while shouting a giddy, "Thank you."
Reader sighs again and turns to Miguel, shaking their head with a smile, "That's his third repair this month. I need to research a more durable material in his universe."
Miguel looks confused as he jumps down from the platform in front of reader, "Why are you repairing it?"
Reader tilts their head in confusion as they answer slowly, "Because I repair things......?"
Miguel and reader stare at each other for a few seconds before they both speak.
"How often are you here?"
"You know I work here, right?"
Miguel eyes grow wide with concern. He's somewhat rushed when he voices his worries as he gently grabs reader's shoulders, "You can't work here, it's dangerous! Do you know how many anomalies we capture everyday? What if you get hurt?"
And reader just stares at him before chuckling softly, holding his face in their hands to still the mild panic roaring through him, "Miguel, cariño, calm down. I just do mundane work here. Plus, I'm usually in the engineering lab on the other side of the building (away from the anomalies)......"
Soon enough, the reader explains some of the things they do there as they sit, tinkering with a faulty gadget in Miguel's office. Him watching them work, intrigued by the way their hands move. That is until Miguel snaps out of his thoughts, confused by the way they talk about HQ and the other spider people so casually, "Wait... how long have you been working here?"
Reader hums in thought as they continue to work, "Uhhmm. I think about....... a year and a half, give or take."
"YOU'VE BEEN HERE FOR A YEAR AND A HALF AND I DIDN'T NOTICE?!"
*cue Lyla cackling in the background
I started this as a writing request but ended up writing it myself by the end, huh? Well in my head this version of reader is based of my bff. She really is a jack of all trades kind of person and she's actually my muse but...... Am I shipping my bff with Miguel O'hara? Yes, yes I am. I hate to admit it (because I would definitely tap that) but they're a match made in heaven 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sorry for the rant, just getting some emotions out. tw: depression
The winter months are always difficult for me when it comes to my mood, motivation, and happiness. I've had depression for...15 years now? Something like that, I try not to keep tabs on it at this point, but this year has hit me like a ton of bricks.
It's been about two months since I've really felt motivated to do...anything. My hobbies like app design, development, a coffeeshop food truck idea that's been bouncing around in my head, or even planning my wedding with my fiancé. I just can't find the motivation or the desire to jump into it, even though I know I enjoy it and I know it will be helpful for me.
I feel like, without that outlet, I'm just feeling a bit lost. What do I do when I don't have the energy or motivation to do anything? What do I do when this baggage and these emotions are just along for the ride? I feel like I'm in a sort of "maintenance mode", where I'm just fixing up things that are "broken" and getting back to a sense of safety and comfort.
I think that's one of the things that's attracted me to solarpunk in the first place as an ideology. It's a community that is there for everyone else in the community. Burdens are shared, there is a sense of belonging, and the focus is put on the person, not on their economic value to some capitalist society.
I'd like to participate in the community more, but I always feel like I'm someone who is always just on the outskirts of a community, like a guest, I guess is the way to word it. I'd like to find a purpose within the community, one that allows me to appreciate and utilize my skills. Which in turn are used for the betterment of the solarpunk community at large, or even within someone's own little community, whatever that may be.
One idea I've had is an open source app for the solarpunk community. A way for a community to manage shared resources like vehicles, shared spaces, and more. To connect and communicate with other solarpunk communities and individuals around the world. I think, ultimately, I'd like to use my skills in app design & development to provide free open source apps and software for people to use as needed, removing capitalist intentions & gross venture capitalist and exploitative practices from harming the community.
I don't know, and I guess it's okay to not know. I'm going to keep chugging along and do what makes me happy. And right now, what makes me happy is cooking some rice and reheating my curry.
