About Me
thought i would make this post because why not
My online pseudonym is Cerulity32K, casually Cerulity. Though, my preferred name is Kali, and my alternate username is Kali the Catgirl.
Though my mental conditions are mild, I do have ADHD (inattentive) and am seeking an autism evaluation. I am also trans (she/they).
But let's get to the good stuff. I excel in computing, especially low-level stuff and graphics (webdev scares me) and math, advanced functions, calculus and linear algebra being the most useful to me. I like to intersect math and computing, and it leads to some pretty fun results, especially when dealing with graphics. My main languages are Rust, C, C++, CUDA, C#, and Python, though I am trying to understand Assembly for a few systems (my laptop [x86_64], NES [6502], and the Atari 2600 [6507]). The main libraries I go to are Raylib and Macroquad for 2D games, and for 3D I go for wgpu, Vulkan, or OpenGL, though wgpu may be the main one I use from now on.
I also do music. My favourite types of music are either loud, distorted songs (FREE.99), literally noise (Portal 2 OST), or electronic-jazz fusion (Creo). I also sometimes make music. It's usually remixes or covers, as I suck at melody crafting, but I have made a couple original songs. I specialize in industrial chiptune and what I like to call "rustcore". My two music environments are LMMS and Furnace, though the latter is the main one I use nowadays.
My favourite game genres are automation, puzzle, and platformer. Factorio, Exapunks, and Celeste are my favourites in those genres respectively.
Other than that, I like to do procedural or subdiv modelling in Blender.
All in all, I'm just a software catgirl :3

Understanding E-commerce Payment Systems: A Comprehensive Guide
In today’s digital landscape, e-commerce is more than just a trend; it’s a vital part of the global economy. As online shopping continues to grow, understanding e-commerce payment systems becomes crucial for businesses and consumers alike. In this blog post, we’ll explore the different types of payment systems, their features, benefits, and best practices to ensure a seamless online shopping experience.
What is an E-commerce Payment System?
An e-commerce payment system is a platform that facilitates online transactions between buyers and sellers. It allows customers to make purchases through various payment methods while ensuring security and efficiency in the transaction process.
Types of E-commerce Payment Systems
Credit and Debit Cards
Widely accepted and trusted, credit and debit cards are the most common payment methods in e-commerce. They allow for quick transactions and often come with buyer protection features.
Digital Wallets
Platforms like PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Wallet enable users to store payment information securely. Digital wallets are popular for their convenience and speed, allowing customers to complete purchases with a few clicks.
Bank Transfers
Direct bank transfers or e-checks offer a secure method for transactions, particularly for larger purchases. However, they may take longer to process compared to other methods.
Cryptocurrency
Emerging as a popular option, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin provide an alternative payment method that emphasizes privacy and low transaction fees. However, volatility and limited acceptance remain challenges.
Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL)
Services like Afterpay and Klarna allow customers to make purchases and pay for them in installments. This option has gained traction among younger consumers looking for flexible payment solutions.
Key Features of E-commerce Payment Systems
Security: Encryption and compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) are essential to protect sensitive customer data.
User Experience: A seamless checkout process reduces cart abandonment rates. Offering multiple payment options can enhance user satisfaction.
Integration: Payment systems should integrate smoothly with existing e-commerce platforms, inventory management, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
Analytics and Reporting: Robust reporting tools help businesses track sales, manage refunds, and analyze customer behavior.
Benefits of E-commerce Payment Systems
Increased Sales: Offering multiple payment options can attract a broader customer base, ultimately boosting sales.
Global Reach: E-commerce payment systems enable businesses to sell internationally, accommodating various currencies and payment preferences.
Improved Cash Flow: Quick processing of payments ensures that businesses maintain a healthy cash flow.
Enhanced Customer Trust: Reliable payment systems foster trust among customers, encouraging repeat purchases.
Best Practices for E-commerce Payment Systems
Choose the Right Payment Processor: Research various payment processors to find one that aligns with your business needs, considering factors like fees, features, and support.
Optimize the Checkout Experience: Simplify the checkout process by minimizing the number of steps required to complete a purchase. Offer guest checkout options to speed up the process.
Ensure Security Compliance: Invest in SSL certificates and ensure compliance with PCI DSS to protect customer information and build trust.
Stay Updated on Trends: Keep an eye on emerging payment technologies and trends to stay competitive and meet evolving customer expectations.
Offer Excellent Customer Support: Provide clear information on payment options and offer support for payment-related inquiries to enhance customer satisfaction.
Conclusion
E-commerce payment systems play a crucial role in the online shopping experience. By understanding the various types of payment methods, their features, and best practices, businesses can create a secure and seamless checkout process that enhances customer satisfaction and drives sales. As the e-commerce landscape continues to evolve, staying informed about payment trends will be key to success in the digital marketplace.

i had the stupidest computer problem in which i wanted to show my friends the photos from Scotland, but the combined files from my phone and camera didn’t add up chronologically - because the phone automatically adjusted time zone (a setting which must be enabled, or the microsoft teams app won’t work - an idiocy in its own right), but the camera did not. those familiar with windows may be aware that it’s possible to edit file properties, including Date Taken - sure, it’d be annoying to have to add one hour to several dozen pictures, but we’ve been through worse manual tasks. however, windows will only let you edit the Date part of the Date Taken timestamp.
cue a random answer on a Windows forum, where the original asker replied to their own question after the official representative, as always, failed to be helpful in any way, linked BulkFileEditor, a file editor that literally had “Add + hours” AND supported editing multiple files at once.
the old-fashioned UI took a minute to parse, so used as i was to modern material UI chromium fork apps, but the person behind the program made it very straightforward. only a few minutes later, all the photos were in beautiful chronological order, ready to be viewed on whatever doubtlessly old and sad device my tech-averse partner had at home.
as i was closing all the tabs after this needlessly complicated journey, i noticed that the appropriately 2008 looking website of this programmer (which listed a whole plethora of other small programs) had a Donate button. curious as to how they chose to implement it, i clicked. only two fields: amount and currency. what the heck, this person saved me quite some frustration today. €3. the Donate button led to Paypal - so simple. Nir Sofer, if you read this, i hope you get yourself a little snack.
#i have so many stupid computer problems#you have no idea#personal drivel#and being a programmer and an industry professional only makes the frustration more nuanced#computer#enshittification#software#freeware

in a lot of ways i feel like i should have gotten a different degree because i feel as an adult my interests are much more creatively driven. but the culture insists that you decide your fate at age 17-19 and then have to stick with it for the rest of your life
#i have a software engineering degree#i was going to actually go for game development but my mom convinced me to go broader bc she thought i could get pigeonholed and not find a#job. and i mean she’s probably right. and the game dev industry is Terrible#but i actually would have in retrospect gone for a third option. something either heavily database related OR#something that has nothing to do with computers at all. like a degree that would get me a job at a zoo or aquarium#i feel like i’d get more fulfillment out of that. but perhaps i am just feeling meh because i feel like#so behind on knowledge in tech compared to my coworkers because i don’t really have any outside of work interest in doing this kind of thing#for the most part. like maybe if i worked less than 40 hours a week i would#but i already spend so much time sitting at my desk that it’s like the last thing i want to do when i am off work#i much rather spend time with my gf and my dog. go on walks. do crafts.#but it feels sometimes like in tech you have to be obsessed with it and do it 24/7. like the culture is so. This Is Your Life#but to me it is Just A Job. and i feel like you’re kind of punished for that in this industry
