Experts Call For Long-Term, Joint Seawater Monitoring To Collect Prosecution Evidence As Radioactive ☢️ Substance Detected For First Time Near Fukushima N-Plant
— Zhang Changyue | September 03, 2023
Tumblr media
Japan's reckless dumping of Nuclear ☢️ Wastewater poses a grave danger to Earth. Cartoon: Carlos Latuff/Brazil 🇧🇷
As Japan 🇯🇵 has detected the radioactive substance tritium for the first time after it started dumping the Nuclear-Contaminated Wastewater, Chinese experts on Sunday called for a long-term and joint monitoring program by international community on the radioactive substances in the seawater to collect and accumulate evidence for future prosecution against Japan.
Ten becquerels per liter of tritium was detected in a seawater sample taken on Thursday about 200 meters north of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant's underwater discharge tunnel, which is the first time that the radioactive material was detected in a seawater sample since Japan started the dumping of the nuclear-contaminated wastewater into the Pacific Ocean on August 24, the Japan News reported.
According to Kyodo News, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) said the detection of tritium can be considered as affected by the dumping but without any security problem.
As TEPCO and Japan's Environment Ministry claimed that Tritium levels in seawater sampled at sites near the plant were below the detectable limit, Chang Yen-chiang, director of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea Research Institute of Dalian Maritime University, told the Global Times on Sunday that "time" is the key factor in monitoring radioactive substances.
"It is not long since Japan began dumping the nuclear-contaminated wastewater into sea, so it is normal that we would see the current low levels of the detected radioactive substances," Chang noted, saying that countries in the Pacific regions can engage in a joint and long-term research and testing of radioactive substances through international cooperation.
Gao Zhikai, Vice President of the Center for China 🇨🇳 and Globalization, a Beijing-based nongovernmental think tank, echoed Chang. Gao said China could consider collaborating with other countries and some nongovernmental environmental organizations to set up a permanent monitoring station on behalf of the international community to collect relevant radiation data, for example, by sending a ship to the exclusive economic zone around Fukushima.
A Citizen Group in Fukushima is preparing to sue the Japanese government and TEPCO on September 8 with more than 100 plaintiffs to demand the cessation of the dumping, Jiji News reported. The legal team said the extent to which radioactive substances other than tritium are present in the wastewater has not been clarified, and the Japanese government violated the promise made with the Fukushima Prefectural Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations not to take any action without the understanding of the stakeholders, thereby infringing upon the fishermen's fishing rights and threatening the consumers' right to live in peace.
Gao said Japan's dumping of the nuclear-contaminated wastewater can be regarded as an act of infringement since the behavior will definitely result in infringement upon the legitimate rights and interests of individuals and organizations. He suggested China work with other countries to establish a specialized legal committee as soon as possible to deal with acts of infringement and to collect evidence of the types of damage caused by Japan's dumping of the nuclear-contaminated water worldwide.
According to Kyodo News, the Japanese Civic Group "National Liaison Committee Against the Release of Contaminated Water from Nuclear Power Plants" filed a complaint to the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office on Friday against Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and TEPCO President Tomoaki Kobayakawa for causing potential damage to non-residential buildings and deaths due to professional negligence over the dumping of nuclear-contaminated water.
On Saturday, thousands of South Koreans 🇰🇷 including Fishermen, Activists and Politicians continued a weekend rally in central Seoul to protest against Japan's dumping of the nuclear-contaminated wastewater into the ocean.
The participants shouted slogans like "Immediately stop the marine dumping of radioactive wastewater" and "Prohibit import of all Japanese aquatic products," urging the South Korean government to file a lawsuit with the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea against the Japanese government.

the curse of the wife beater
a satire huening kai horror story because im insane
It was way past my bedtime. I knew that because my alarm went off hours ago. Despite this fact, I scrolled through my Pinterest mindlessly. My eyes tiredly glazed over the array of random Asian men the algorithm had recommended to me. I was just about to turn my phone off when something caught my eye...
A picture of Huening Kai. I mean, I had seen pictures of him before but... that tank top he wore made me laugh. "Wife beater" is what my friend Gloria called them. Someone as cute as him wearing something like that? Pfft...
I peeked at the clock, 11:21PM. It was getting late. I quickly saved the picture to my gallery and went to sleep, silently giggling to myself at the image.
I remember tossing in my sleep, I could hear Kai whisper in my ear. "You think it's funny? Wait to see what I have in store for you." I knew I was dreaming, but I swear I could feel his warm breath on my ear and his weight shift on my right side as he crawled into my bed to torment me.
I couldn't sleep, I didn't want to deal with this stupid dream anymore.
Sooner or later, the sound of my blaring Talk that Talk alarm filled my ears. I jolted up, rubbing my tiredness out of my eyes. I didn't want to go to school but I knew what I had to do. I ended up getting ready for school, nearly falling asleep about three times in the process. I quickly grabbed a container of yogurt and ate it quickly, tossing the container into the trash. I slipped on my shoes and left out of the door, beginning my on-foot trudge to my least favorite place on Earth. My backpack felt a dozen times heavier and my shoes felt tight.
When I was close to the building I swear I saw Kai across the street, staring dead into my eyes. But when I blinked, he was gone. Man, I should've taken melatonin. I walked into the building and shoved everything into my locker. I was already late and I couldn't waste any more time with my hallucinations. I grabbed my book and went to class.
I sat in my usual seat, next to Gloria. Soon, the teacher came in. "Good morning class!" I was already half asleep. "We have a new student today!" My head jolted up like the Black Mamba when it senses it's newest meal. Just when I thought my day was going bad enough.
A boy walked in..I have to be hallucinating.
Kai, that same wife beater that haunted my dreams on full display. I felt sick. "He's so cute!" Gloria practically squealed. "Are you kidding? He... I had a nightmare about him. And he's a Korean celebrity!"
I gasped awake, seeing we were in the middle of a lesson. It was just a dream. "What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?" Gloria asked, looking up from her workbook. She was already getting on my nerves.
"Yeah... It was stupid." I daydreamed throughout the rest of the lesson. Gloria said that she was gonna give me the homework answers so it didn't matter.
The school day went by fast, memories of the night before and my hallucinations disturbing me. When I went to the bathroom during the passing period, I saw him in the mirror behind me. At lunch, I was afraid to eat because I thought he had poisoned me. All of this was because of a random image I thought was funny.
I went back home, collapsing onto the couch. "Why is this happening? Am I going crazy?" I cried to myself silently. I took out my phone and went to my gallery, deciding to rid myself of this curse. All I saw was the same image, over and over again. I dropped my phone, the screen turning into a green web of cracks.
I screamed, panting heavily. "Honey, what's wrong?" My mom walked into the living room, a concerned expression on her face. "I've been hallucinating so bad today, Mom!" I yelped, grabbing onto her work scrubs since she was a nurse.
She allowed me to skip school for the rest of the week, but she sent me to a therapist. After hearing about my issue, the therapist suggested that I go to a mental health facility.
The facility blamed it on my phone usage. When I got locked in the room I looked down at the socks they gave me. Why have I been cursed? I thought.
I looked up. "You thought you could get rid of me that easily? Pathetic."
I cried for the last time.

Entering service in February of 1944, the T-34-85 was the first large modification to the T-34 tank, adding an 85mm gun designed to counter the German Tiger, and an improved, widened, three-man turret. The design would further be developed and perfected over time, but the original T-34-85 variants would always be the most crucial. The widening of the Turret helped with on of the T-34 main issues, how cramped it was. The T-34 was incredibly tightly packed on the interior, with very little room to work. While not entirely solving this issue, the larger three man turret certainly reduced the strain on tank crews. The larger gun however, was the main selling point of the 34-85. Able to penetrate the frontal armor of a Tiger I at 1,000 metres. It would be the tank that pierced the heart of Berlin, and would lead the invasion of South Korea by the North Koreans, beginning the Korean War.

You pulled up to the club right around dusk, eyeing the still-empty streets. Soon the place would be crawling with party goers and drunken crowd, but for the time being, a moment of calm before the storm. “Thank you for coming on such short notice,” the manager of the AMON welcomed you in warmly. “We didn’t even know who was able to fill in until you called. I was worried I’ll have to let my nephew sub in…” the man in suit and sleeked back hair trailed off as he darted his eyes towards one of the bartender, who looked suspiciously like he’s been drinking the stock.
You chuckled, “thanks for giving me the stage, I’ve been cooped up the the studio for too long - it’s good to get some fresh air.” Tying your hair up into a low pony tail, you unpacked your mixer and hooked your equipment onto the speakers skilfully while the manager frantically updated their DJ roster of the night on their social media. Noticing the frantic scramble, you squatted down to the manager beneath and sighed, “relax mate, it’s a Friday night.” You’re not sure if he’s just naturally skittish or was it because of the last minute changes. Nevertheless, you comforted the man who looks like he’s on the brink of tears, “I got the jams, you got the juice. It’ll be lit.”
Turning a few dials, you started the night off with some 90’s R&B, the swinging jams served as your inauguration into South Korean music scene. You took a quick selfie to commemorate the moment, tagging the anxiety ridden manager behind you and the club with in a short caption.
“Any drinks?” The manager quickly stopped by for one last check before the rush begun.
You nodded, “do you have Maraschino cherries? Two jars of those.” He gave you a funny look for the unconventional request, but needed the sugar - plus it’s not like you were going to accept alcohol or opened drinks from strangers in an unfamiliar setting. You thanked him as you accepted the two jars, checking that the seal was intact before popping a couple into your mouth.
Throughout the next few hours, you subtly increased the amount of bass and energy to your song mixes as more patrons flooded in. A few regulars have noticed that you’re not the intended DJ of the night, but we’re all pleasantly surprised by your set list, thoroughly enjoying themselves as the music and booze flows through them.
“Y/N I LOVE YOUUUUU!!” An excited scream pierced through the roaring party-goers, you lifted your protective ear muffs to see Latrice and a few other familiar faces in the crowd. You excitedly waved back, texting her the time for when your set finishes. She nodded and flashed two thumbs up at you, before turning and leading a small horde behind her towards the bar. You squinted to get a better look at the group, but the flashing lights (and your lack of glasses) proved the task to be difficult.
You tucked a lose strand of blue hair behind your ears, returning your focus to the last hour of your set. Feeding off the crowd’s energy and getting a grasp of the general population’s music taste, the drunken party-goers were all a little disappointed when you eventually handed over to the next DJ.
Leaving the bulk of your equipment on the stage, you pulled off your bulky sweatpants, leaving a minidress behind (a very handy life hack you learned from Ling: spaghetti strapped minidresses works great under sweatpants as a tank-top-when-working and skimpy-when-partying combo). Quickly reapplying a deep marron lipstick and smudging your eyeliner, you hopped off the stage to join the girls.
“Hey mama,” you tapped your best friend at her shoulder, “thank you for coming.”
Latrice snickered and handed you a drink, “of course I had to be here for your DJ virginity in Korea! It’s monumental.” The brunette paused for a moment and waited for you to take a few more sips before opening her mouth again, “there are a few others here, be nice.”
You nodded, curious to know who tagged along. Squinting at the faces, you started to regret that whole ‘you don’t need to see music to hear music’ logic you had when you decided to not put your contacts in earlier today.
Ling, ever the party animal, was the first to jumped into your arms. “God you look a-mazing,” she chirped, “that was a such a good set!”
You spotted the rest of the Jam Republic members and waved at them over the loud music, before landing your eyes on an all too familiar dancer.
“Hey lovely,” you greeted, leaning towards her over the thumping beat. “New hair colour?” Noticing her now grey streaks, you instinctively reached out to ruffle her hair a little. She’s dressed in her usual street wear attire, an oversized hoodie and a light washed jeans effortlessly bringing out her undeniable charisma.
Bada nodded, her mouth gaping slightly open noticing what you were wearing up close. Ling’s words don’t even begin to justify the sight of you. The little laced minidress hugged your figure, a few dozens of inked work decorating your legs and thighs; as you towered over her, she accidentally glanced down your bosom before quickly looked away, finding interest in the bottom of her drink.
Flirting in a loud environment is generally not your thing, but as you were about to attempt, another dancer caught your eyes and your face dropped. Bada chuckled as Latrice immediately stepped between you and the Mannequeen member.
“We are going dancing,” Latrice lead you away by the shoulder. “I haven’t seen you in forever since they handed you the keys,” the brunette complained as she pulled you towards the dance floor.
“And who’s fault was it?” You taunted, glaring at the direction of said fault, earning an eye roll from your friend.
“I said to be nice, didn’t I?” Latrice snickered, reminding you to act civil.
You rolled your eyes right back at her, mirroring the childish behaviour. “I was wondering why you needed me to be nice with Kirsten and Ling.”
Latrice laughed and finished her drink, you quickly finishing up yours to join her dancing. You’re of course no match to the professional dancer, however as a frequent member to the Latin clubs and an occasional Barcadi dancer, you can still hold your own in a club setting (and especially when substances are involved).
Tonight was an eventful night for Bada, as she watched your set for the first time, gawked at you in that skimpy little dress, and now shocked by the way you’re shaking ass and grinding up against Latrice. A odd feeling stirred up in her, and she couldn’t quite distinct if it was intoxication or jealousy.
Noticing the tall dancer’s lingering stare, Redlic inched closer towards the choreographer and proposed a strategy. “I say we both go get our girl back,” the shorter dancer suggested, her eyeing the brunette with the wide smile.
“I’m in,” Bada nodded with resolve, not liking the sinking feeling in her guts.
Taking a deep breath, Redlic took the lead and swooped in for the Queenslander. “Baby can we have this dance?” The platinum blonde dancer poured, batting her eyelashes at a beaming Latrice.
You feigned gagged at the sight, gently shoving Latrice towards her date, jokingly mouthing ‘traitor’ as they walked away.
“Can I have this dance?” Bada asked from behind you.
A smile tugged on the corner on your lips as you turned around, “collaborators, you two.”
Bada mockingly acted shock as she told you “Your accusation would have repercussions,” before challenging you to a dance off.
You took her hands and placed them around your neck before you lean forward to whisper in her ears, “challenge accepted.” You looked down at her in the flashing club lightning, and you could’ve swear you saw her flushing red. Chuckling at the effect you had on the famous choreographer, you teasingly wiggled your hips at her to the best of the music.
She bit her flushed lips unconsciously, gulping hard as she look at at you through her long lashes. When you did that little twerk, the devil on Bada’s shoulder won and she gently tugged on the nape of your hair with a firm grip. Your eyes widen in surprise as a mischievous smile took over Bada’s plump lips.
Bada’s face was inches away from your neck, and you can feel her warm breath on you as her breathing quickened. You locked gaze with the dancer as you wrapped your arms around her back. For a moment there the pounding music faded away, as you two contemplated if it was the lust or alcohol pulsing through your veins.
The tightening of her grip around your neck was a sign for you - as your grip on her hips was for her. You closed the distance between the two of you, and your lips met in a flurry of drunken daze and thirst-filled trance. Her lips supple as yours soft, you both eagerly indulged in the heated kiss. You felt a smirk forming on her lips before she muttered, “toilet?”

TXT on Maturing, Packing for the Act: PromiseTour, and Skin Care Essentials
Tumblr media
Snapshot! is a Teen Vogue style series where we ask artists to take candid pics and share a glimpse of their style and beauty routines. In this installment, K-pop boy group TXT takes Teen Vogue behind the scenes at the New York stop of their Act: Promise tour.
When the members of Tomorrow X Together (TXT) aren’t attending Fashion Week — whether on the runway or in the front row — they’re jet-setting on tour. However, it's an equally chic occasion — and their latest tour, Act: Promise, is proof of that.
Across the United States tour dates, the concerts’ carefully crafted stages encapsulated the K-pop group’s five-year journey in just a few hours for fans, known as MOA, to experience together. The styling plays a major role in doing so, from their grand entrance with “Deja Vu” to their low-key looks for the youthful anthem “Cat & Dog.”
While the members — Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai — make it look seamless on stage, touring isn’t an easy feat. Preparations for concerts may start months before in Seoul with fittings and dress rehearsals but continue until the very last outfit change backstage and even when the members are doing skin care after the show. To learn about it all and soak up the backstage buzz, Teen Vogue caught up with TXT before their sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 1, 2024.
Back in 2019, TXT was first introduced to the world with bright colors, playful patterns, and skinny jeans with their “Crown” music video. Now, the group is known to have a more elevated style with nods to punk and grunge aesthetics. “Because it's been some years since we debuted, I think I would describe it as a journey of growing and being mature, so we definitely see maturing changes in our aesthetics,” Taehyun tells Teen Vogue via an interpreter.
“I wouldn't say it was a radical change, but it was more like a gradual change and gradual being mature and growing. I would say after our second LP, our style definitely got a little more mature than before,” he adds, referring to their album The Chaos Chapter:Freeze, which features the hit single “0X1=Lovesong (I Know I Love You).”
On this tour, the setlist visits each of the group’s chapters, but rather than in chronological order, the arrangement and coordinating outfits explore a motif. “Each show has five sections, and each section has a distinctive theme,” Hueningkai explains. “Our look and our outfits also changed according to the theme.”
For their grand entrance, the group emerges on the stage clad in lace cloaks while wearing white trousers and gray blazers, accentuated by harnesses and chain links, combining their princely charms and pop punk sounds. Within the same section, the members make a quick outfit change to pay homage to their South Korean culture. “We have the song ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ rearranged with Korean traditional instruments, and we also dress in Korean traditional costumes,” Hueningkai says, referring to the hanbok.
The next section, marked by the hit songs “Magic” and “Trust Fund Baby,” showcases the members' more casual side. They are clad in relaxed-fit jeans and designer graphic tee shirts. Whereas they typically wear baby blue varsity jackets with bedazzled wings for this part of the show, for that weekend, the group wore New York Rangers gear, a nod to Madison Square Garden’s home team.
As the group splits up for their unit stages, the youngest members, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai, shed the jackets and rock out to “Quarter Life” in simple ‘fits. Meanwhile, the eldest, Soobin and Yeonjun, change into belted black and white tank tops, respectively, for their performance of “The Killa.” Promptly after the duet and before “Back For More,” they put on sparkly black jackets and rejoin the youngest members who are already wearing the same. Taehyun favors this part of the show for its versatility. “When the light gets dark, we can change the [jacket] really quick, so it gives more variations to the outfit,” he confesses.
As Taehyun notes, the members switch into a more grunge look shortly after. “We wear leather jackets for the third section where we perform ‘Puma.’ Because I think the leather jackets go very well with us all and it just gives off a really hip vibe, I like that one,” Beomgyu says.
The last look of the night comes with the encore, a time the group utilizes to engage and make more memories with MOAs. Their choice of clothing highlights this. Swapping their more extravagant costuming for more casual, fun looks, the group wears hoodies and T-shirts from their merch collection for the tour with classic blue jeans and a simple accessory or two. This look is Hueningkai’s favorite as the comfy, casual nature suits him.
When asked to describe his personal style, “hoodie and jeans” is Hueningkai’s response. His style prioritizes practicality, just like Taehyun, who adds, “I would say I like various styles, but I would say I would choose comfort over fashion.” Fitting for the early June climate in NYC, he explains, “For example, I don't wear long sleeves in hot weather.”
“Like Taehyun said earlier, I like a variety of stuff, but recently, I refer to the street fashion in the UK or Japan,” Yeonjun says. His off-stage looks this tour have consisted of chunky sneakers, layers, and baggy silhouettes for an effortless yet cool look. “I definitely refer to his style. I sometimes try to follow his style,” Hueningkai says in admiration of the eldest.
Soobin and Beomgyu lean towards a more preppy side. Both seem to have their wardrobe essentials figured out. “I like clean-cut style,” Beomgyu says. “Recently, I've been purchasing a lot of wide-leg pants.” Soobin adds, “I also like neat and clean-cut style, so most of my items are button-up shirts.”
Having a practical sense of style does have its benefits on tour. At this point, it seems like the TXT members are pros at the art of packing to be on the road for prolonged periods of time. “It doesn't take that long to pack because we're constantly on a tour,” Beomgyu says. “Sometimes I just leave my luggage packed and just add a little more items to them. For example, a few tops, a few bottoms, a few shoes. But I make sure that I do have my personal makeup tools or makeup items, like cleansers. For those things, I make sure that I do have my own stuff.”
For Hueningkai, it takes a little bit of research. “When I pack for a tour, I definitely make sure that I check the weather because you want your clothes to fit the weather there,” he explains. “For example, if you're traveling to a city where the temperature is high, you make sure you have short sleeves and really light materials.”
Yeonjun’s technique is classic for a fashion lover. “I overpack because I like clothes,” he says. “But I also make sure that there is a little bit of room, considering that you're going to shop when you go to a new city.”
The TXT members are equally sensible when it comes to picking essentials for their carry-on bags. Hueningkai, like many other K-pop idols, notes the importance of comfortable shoes when off the stage and says slippers are his must-have.
Soobin and Taehyun’s travel essentials allow them to have some fun when they can while traveling. Soobin selects a tablet, particularly one loaded with dramas. (On this tour, he chose to watch Queen of Tears.)
Staying active seems to be on the mind for Taehyun. “For me, it's a bathing suit because you stay in hotels when you're on a tour, and sometimes you find really nice swimming pools there,” he says. Similarly, his form of self-care on tour is exercise, so he says he carries a resistance band so he can work out anywhere, even in the hotel.
As for skin care, the group stresses mastering the important basics. “I've recently started to practice this, but I make sure that I wear sunscreen before going out,” Taehyun says. “So that’s my beauty tip.” Also, taking the late spring weather into account, Hueningkai adds.“For me, it's to keep hydrated, so drink a lot of water.”
While the hype and excitement of a concert may culminate before the show, it’s the youngest of the group, Hueningkai, who reminds us that a post-show routine is just as worthwhile for both artists and fans alike. “It's important to really remove your makeup thoroughly,” he says. “So I use cleansing oil — all those makeup remover items. And make sure that you moisturize your skin after that.”

South Korea politician blames women for rising male suicides (Jean Mackenzie, BBC, July 9 2024)
"A politician in South Korea is being criticised for making dangerous and unsubstantiated comments after linking a rise in male suicides to the increasingly “dominant” role of women in society.
In a report, Seoul City councillor Kim Ki-duck argued women’s increased participation in the workforce over the years had made it harder for men to get jobs and to find women who wanted to marry them.
He said the country had recently “begun to change into a female-dominant society” and that this might "partly be responsible for an increase in male suicide attempts”.
South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates among the world’s rich countries but also has one of the worst records on gender equality.
Councillor Kim’s comments have been criticised as the latest in a series of out-of-touch remarks made by male politicians. (…)
In South Korea there is a substantial gulf between the number of men and women in full-time employment, with women disproportionately working temporary or part-time jobs.
The gender pay gap is slowly narrowing, but still women are paid on average 29% less than men.
In recent years an anti-feminist movement has surged, led by disillusioned young men, who argue they have been disadvantaged by attempts to improve women’s lives. (…)
Last month, another Seoul councillor in his 60s published a series of articles on the authority’s website encouraging young women to take up gymnastics and practise pelvic floor exercises in order to raise the birth rate.
At the same time, a government think tank recommended that girls start school earlier than boys, so that classmates would be more attracted to each other by the time they were ready to marry.
“Such comments encapsulate just how pervasive misogyny is in South Korea,” said Yuri Kim, director of the Korean Women's Trade Union.
She accused politicians and policymakers of not even trying to understand the challenges women faced, preferring to scapegoat them instead.
“Blaming women for entering the workforce will only prolong the imbalances in our society,” she told the BBC.
Currently women account for 20% of South Korea’s members of parliament, and 29% of all local councillors."

types of weapons the hunters would use pt. 1
the korean s rank hunters first. this is largely inspired by... the extreme little variation of weapons ive seen lmao there was so much potential... but alas its up to me.
choi jongin:
a whip. it's about as dramatic as he is and i feel like the crackling of it like fire... sort of. it also would just looks sick, and it's clear he uses weapons (from the gauntlet he wore in that one arc) so why not something ranged for a ranged-style like mage? and, i won't lie, i was probably influenced by the ren faire whip guy lmao... i mean, if that level of drama doesn't scream jongin i don't know what does. he jumped out a plane during jeju too
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
baek yoonho:
his fists seem accurate for him. if i had to choose, a hammer maybe? something reinhardt-esque. it also adds to his slight tank-like abilities and fighting style. reinhardt is like... 7 feet tall too so this hammer would be huge in comparison to yoonho lmao... or, maybe something less tech-y and more of a simple sledgehammer, like harley's
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
min byungyu:
he studied for the test. we see him have a mace thing so that counts. interesting that a healer chooses a blunt object to fight with... pretty slow way to die, but it allows knock-outs instead of kills. would've been super interesting to see him fight more with it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lim taegyu:
similar to byungyu, he has a unique weapon, a pretty cool looking bow that has an interesting design. but since he's a ranger class hunter, i think he might have a throwing spear as well or something similar. something that uses aim, and is basically just a bigger arrow, but still a ranged attack style
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
cha haein:
i do love her sword (and her pickaxe) but a scimitar or glaide would be cool (partially inspired by xiaolong from lookism and the guan yu version of the bident from the hades game). it's also interesting that she seems to have a very european sword rather than the usual south-eastern ones we see throughout the draw sword guild - i'm gonna guess it's loot from a dungeon from the way the hilt looks... that should be an interesting story to hear how she got it lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
woo jinchul:
i think a weaponized shield suits him. something like the chaos or zagreus' shield from the hades games - chaos specifically because of the purple. something about how he's a protector but isn't afraid to choose violence or get his hands dirty...

sung jinwoo:
he's a walking weapons arsenal are you kidding me. he's got literally everything. he cycles through 7 weapons in the manhwa and has collected even more - he gives igris that electric longsword. raska's fang, knight killer, the pair demon king daggers and then the pair of kamish's wrath daggers thomas gives him.

In an example of how far the United States has fallen, Secretary of State Blinken has been turned into a messenger boy, coming to Israel eight times since October 7 to yank hard on the leash carefully placed around Israel’s neck.
Of course, it is impossible not to ask whether Blinken has also been sent because he was born a Jew.
(Do you understand, Mr. Blinken? For all of your years as an insider in Washington, at the end of the day you are just a Jew. Don’t bother to apply for membership at a Washington-area country club.)
And while Jews focus almost exclusively on the diminishing Biden support for Israel, little is said about European leaders who have been so quick to abandon Israel.
Unfortunately, for over 100 years Europe has largely been a continent populated by cowards and appeasers who refuse to fight for their freedoms, while happily hiding behind the American skirt since 1941. After all this time, what Europe says or does is as meaningless as the foreign policy of the Zulu tribe in Africa.
Indeed, we fear that we are watching the end of Europe, as they again refuse to fight for their freedoms as the continent’s Moslems openly call for a European caliphate.
So where does this leave Israel?
During Israel’s War of Independence Joseph Stalin supplied the Jews with arms sold through communist Czechoslovakia.
In the 1950s through 1967, France was Israel’s chief arms supplier. And after 1973, the United States became Israel’s main source for arms.
In the years after 1973, Israel turned to the Americans as a matter of expediency….and it worked for everyone. This gave Israel the arms it needed to survive, and it gave America unprecedented influence in the Middle East.
Also, for years we believed that sophisticated American arms gave Israel a “qualitative edge” over our Moslem enemies.
However, October 7 proved that the only way for Israel to remain safe is by not solely relying on the most sophisticated early warning systems or latest weapons and technologies.
Israel’s true qualitative edge has always been our belief in ourselves as Jews, our will to survive, and our indomitable fighting spirit.
If, in the future, Israeli pilots are flying South Korean fighter jets that shoot Indian missiles to destroy our enemies, if we are placing technology from Taiwan into our tanks and performing military research in Singapore, we will continue to win our wars. And without American arms.
For we Jews must remember that we will not win future conflicts just because of weapons, but rather because of our Jewish heritage, families, faith and belief in the Jewish people’s right to thrive in our ancient land of Israel.
May the Almighty lead our enemies under our soldiers’ sway, and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory.

How difficult and costly would it be for the US & S. Korea to repel a theoretical North Korean attack, and is the current situation frought?
Sorry to double ask, but I realized there was probably an easier way to ask my question. In the event of war with North Korea, could South Korea handle North Korea on its own?
The South Koreans enjoy technological dominance over the North. The North Koreans primarily use old T-62 and T-72 tanks, BTR-series IFV's, incredibly outdated artillery, and a navy that still relies on deck guns. In a protracted war, the South would outpace and outsupply the North. That means the likelihood of a massive North Korean first strike is high, in the event of a war.
In the event of a North Korean first strike, you'd probably see a lot of missiles and artillery fired rather indiscriminately from the North to the South which would create massive casualties, particularly among civilians.
Fortunately, a large buildup is not something you can hide, so hopefully recon and intelligence can give forewarning and possibly pre-empt the worst of the damage.
Thanks for the question, Cle-Guy.

people commenting on my dprk post trying to inform me that one can critique western imperialism without lauding the apparent cartoonish evil north korean empire and when questioning how they can be certain about north korea’s evilness it’s always “well i heard it from x (us backed/supported) media source” without any regards for why and how us media would incite and lie about a potential enemy of imperialism.
sometimes they invoke “well listen to what this defector has to say!” and because they are ignorant they wholesale ignore the fact that south korea criminalises all discourse about the north that doesn’t tow us imperialist lines or that defectors can be given monetary payment for affirming the atrocity propaganda already being fed to the west, yeonmi park isn’t just telling you that random citizens get gunned down in the street for watching disney just to affirm your existing bias to north koreans but also because she gets huge amounts of money from us think tanks and organisations to tell these bold faced lies.
