A point of argument between Qi Xiaotian and Long Xiaojiao was favorite eye color.
It wasn't a serious argument. It was one of those silly things that you would banter back and forth about. Xiaotian was firmly on green being the best, while Xiaojiao was of the opinion that brown was great. (If that happened to be the eye color of their best friend, nobody pointed it out.)
One day, however, their opinions seemed to flip.
"Brown eyes are better," Xiaotian said. "When the light hits them just right, they sparkle and you just melt." He sighed and seemed to melt himself.
"No, no, nope," Xiaojiao shook her head with a sip of boba. "Green's the shit. You just wanna fall right into green eyes and roll around because they make you think of living things."
"Brown makes you think of curling up with hot chocolate."
"Green makes you think of running and never stopping."
Xiaotian didn't respond, too busy thinking of brown eyes glinting with flames, glowing just like he did, glowing in their fire before he caught him and held him tight in a comforting embrace. Xiaojiao leaned back, imagining green eyes glinting with the chase, standing out in purple and black, making her run and run until she collapsed into her arms and the grass caught them.
If you asked Red and Spindrax...
"Brown," Red said, staring at a brown-eyed boy who held the sun in those eyes.
"Green," Spindrax said, staring at a green-eyed girl who sparked with electric power in those eyes.
