OJ Simpson and the Pitfalls of Sporting Stardom
OJ Simpson’s life was marked by accusations of murder, domestic violence, and armed robbery. His trajectory serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of granting athletes unchecked privilege. It’s a reminder for parents, coaches, and educators to be mindful of the values they instill in young athletes.

Kamila Valieva of Russia has been banned for four years retroactively starting on December 25, 2021. She has been disqualified from all events after.
The medals for the Team Event need to be decided by the IOC/ISU, as that is out of the scope of the CAS.

Hang on, so I’m just hearing about this ESPN Emmys scandal and I must have missed something important somewhere cos it just sounds so ridiculous that this thing happened.
So from what I can understand, ESPN spent years nominating fake names for Emmy awards? Awards which those fake names would somehow consistently win? And upon winning these Emmys, ESPN would then re-engrave them and give them to on-air talents, who knew nothing about any of this??
I must have missed something, right? I mean there’s no way the real world could be that stupid. Do the people what award Emmys just…not watch tv or do any research about the people nominated? Surely if they’d even googled one of these fake names, they’d realise they don’t exist, right? And yet they not only didn’t notice, but would sometimes award them the prize? And what about the real talent who ended up with a shiny trophy - where did they think the trophy came from? Don’t they have an awards ceremony where real people have to show up and accept them?
I must be misreading or reading bad sources. There’s just no way, right? Please, if someone is better informed than me (which is 100% certain), I would love to know what actually happened here, cos I refuse to believe a plan this stupid would ever work, let alone for 25 years.

unlike MY GUY (named in Panama Papers😁) max can't even tax evade 🙄
dutch journalist naming the $200 million tax evasion implied max should pay dutch taxes despite him not living there (lives in monaco), and does pay all sporting taxes for the gps

Very fun thinking about the 2 modern AUs of my HOTD OC fic, because I can say whatever I want that makes the Royce siblings sound cool, but it will never erase the fact they are the nepo babies to end all nepo babies. Their old money mom is the head of a company that she inherited from her dad, their dad is the family burnout from a long line of politicians & he keeps getting jobs because his brother is the president/king/whatever Westeros has in this modern AU. Only Yorick would naturally have an employable skillset, & they all get well paying jobs/success. It is infinitely funny to me when I think about it in terms of the mechanics of how they all get where they're going

the thing about the american labor movement (one of many!) is that you can look at one of the most privileged & high-profile trade unions in the world, representing specialized workers in a market with growing profits, and you'd expect that they at least would be getting along just fine, but instead their employers are fucking with their equipment & lying about it as they get injured while wearing see-through pants on national TV. and like sure, the major league baseball players association is not strictly representative, but jesus fuckin christ man that's bad

Obtain Scandal reminiscent of Peterson Rose scandal
Regardless of whether Shohei Ohtani’s innocent or not this scandal is reminiscent enough of Pete Rose in the 1980s already. It’s a reminder of how betting will always threaten the game integrity. The commissioner’s office can only hope Ohtani is being honest, and the outcome will be different.

The thing making insane is that in 21 we had clear and obvious evidence of some form of corruption/collusion between red bull and F1 authorities in some form or other...and absolutely nothing came of it. And now here we are in 23 with a RB car that looks like in any other year would be raising eyebrows and constantly talked about on the grid and with the commentators ect. except it isnt deemed illegal because y’know the fia says it isn’t.

Just heard rbr exceeded the budget cap, essentially cheating last season so I volunteer to be the one the fia sends (in their very unpoblematic unbiased and fair assessment) to gently slap rbr and steppie on the wrist and tsk at them to please not do that again because they're making us look bad🤧.
