i am still trying to fight this weird art low i have been having for so long, everything takes so much effort, it didnt use to take so much effort i swear, why does it ... take so much .... so .. so much effort now
#ganondoodles talks#personal#and it doesnt go away????? it doesnt get easier??? it just gets harder to do anything more and more??#the usual art low goes away at some point but this is getting ridiculously long#i WANT to so badly and have ideas but every line takes so much effort and time it just doesnt feel worth it#easier to sink in yet more hundreds of hours into stardew again all while thinking about what i could have gotten done in that time#any time i open it now i get this drive to try pixel art and gamedev again#but im havign a hard time getting into coding bc the usual tutorials are like 'make a guy move' and like OKAY but how-#-how do i structure it? how do i organize game code? where does it go????????#bc nodes are always the children of the node before and you cant change that so you gottan structure it right ..... right????#its like#okay teach me how to make a character jump#but should that be its own like ... idk what it was called .. script? node?#shouldnt you start at the beginning with the title screen or sth??#what do i separate and what can be chaos i................#i know some indie devs that dont know code well and theirs is a hot mess but it still works#but i cant .... maybe its the autism idk but i need to know why and where it goes!!!!!! maybe im just bad at searching for tutorials#but im still so ... like in school when tasked with something you dont know how to start or what comes first so you CANT even TRY#q-q

How to get DCBurger's Portraits to Work with 1.6
(With pictures)
Go to DCBUrger's Portait mod on the nexus and download the 1.5.1 version.
Go to the nexus and download the alpha version of portraiture.
Go to your file explorer and unzip those downloads with something like 7zip. I unzip all my mods into a master folder and the copy and paste them wherever from there. It'll look like this unzipped. (highlighted ones)
Click into portraiture once and copy and paste that folder (it'll just say portraiture) into your mods folder for stardew valley.
Then click into the DCburger TWICE (there should be a READ ME under the file you are going to copy) and copy that folder into portraiture like this.
Your file folder should look exactly like this. The portraits should be inside that highlighted folder shown.

Coming clean.
I would like to formally apologize to the Stardew valley community, ConcernedApe, my Stardew valley animals, everyone in pelican town (except that abomination Clint), my friends, AND my family. I never meant for this to happen. I have wasted not only everyone's time but also MINE. I wasted my time, my sanity, and all hope for a better farm. I cannot explain enough how sorry I am for watering the fucking fruit trees. I am an idiot. I don't even know how to explain myself. However, To the asshole who told me to water my fruit trees: I will find you.
#im sorry#my apology video#ukulele version out soon#stardew valley#stardew apology#I water trees#mrbeast saves the trees#im now mr beast#concerned ape please put a tutorial mode in this game#whoever is in charge of the wiki pls note not to not water trees

Farmer 2.0 ESWF
I've had a couple of different people asking me through different venues about how to set up the portraits in the mod Farmer 2.0 ESWF.
I'm assuming that the reader knows how to download mods and their dependencies, so I'm going to talk specifically about setting up the file structure within your mod folders. The screenshots are all from Windows 11, and my Stardew is through Steam, so keep that in mind.
If this is something you're curious about/looking for info on, just look under the cut. There are lots of screenshots.
I'm giving Stardrop a spin these days, so the folder path is somewhat different.
My Mods Folder looks like this:
Within the Stardrop Installed Mods folder, it looks like a typical Mods folder setup if you're doing manual installs:
You'll need to go into the folder I have highlighted, "Farmer 2.0 ESWF."
It should look like this:
We're going to need to go into the assets folder that is highlighted there. Inside, you should have a file structure similar to this:
(Note, if you've just installed, you won't have anything like the "Callie" or "Quinn" folders. We're getting ready to set that up.)
Now, for this setup, I'm doing the "Player 1 - No Emotions" because pixel art is not in my wheelhouse and this is a pretty straight-forward set up. This one allows you to set up different portraits for different weather types, as well as different portraits for indoors versus outdoors if you want your character to not have a coat on while inside or whatever.
The first thing you need to do is Copy and Paste the "Player 1 - No Emotions" folder within that same assets folder.
In older versions of Windows, instead of it tacking on a "- Copy" at the end, it oftentimes will add a "(1)" or "(2)" instead. You're going to rename that to the name of your Farmer--not your farm, but your character. Hence why I have a "Callie" and a "Quinn."
For this demonstration, I'm going to use Quinn since I used the No Emotions setup for them.
Inside of your Farmer Folder, you'll see this:
That portrait file? You can replace it with a base portrait. The most important thing is that you A) don't delete it and B) if you do replace it, make sure you keep the same file name of "portrait." Otherwise, the mod will bork hardcore.
You'll notice that it has eleven folders for different seasons/events/locations. For this example, we'll go into "Fall."
Inside are subfolders for different weather conditions. "Sun" is the default portrait that it uses on most days. For this example, however, we're going to go into "Rain," as I actually use different outfits/portraits for indoors and outdoors in those conditions.
The files are pretty straight forward: "portrait" is for when Farmer is outside, and "portrait_indoors" is for when Farmer is inside. (Side note: to make my portraits, I used this portrait creator. When I saved my files, I saved them as either "portrait" or "portrait_indoors" and replaced the original files in that folder. Make sure you download the 64x64 version and not the 256x256.)
But what if you don't want to use a different portrait while indoors?
Just reuse the same image!
Once you have all of your portraits for the various seasons/weather/events set, you're going to want to copy your Farmer's folder to elsewhere on your hard drive. That way, if it gets deleted during an ESWF update, you have a back up and can just copy it back into the assets folder.
This is a quick and dirty tutorial, and I'm sure I've missed something. If you have questions/need clarifications, please ask and I'll do my best to help!

yeah i dont know a lick of code and i know programming is hard but i know exactly what i want to do and im really smart so i can definitely make a game
*the first piece of code i got out of following a youtube tutorial doesn't run*
#m.txt#i dont want to learn how to program for reals this was supposed to be simple#there are 3 different tutorials for making a 'stardew valley-like' farming game in specifically godot on youtube#2 of them dont use even remotely the same system as that does while the 3rd uses a bunch of code that isnt functional int he engine anymore#and none of the information translates to 3d because that's a completely different system entirely#and as far as i can gather the built in system for easily making a tile grid in 3d loves to throw errors

it took me literally all day but I finally finished my second needlepoint

[ID: A small needlepoint project. It depicts a blue chicken from Stardew Valley on a light blue background with a very dark blue border made of a binding stitch. The project is a bit smaller than 2 inches by 2 inches. The border is slightly uneven. End ID.]
#stardew valley#needlepoint#this was my first time doing a binding stitch and I definitely did the corners wrong#I also ran out of thread at one point and managed to keep the edge going but I had to bury the end of the old thread so that part of the#border is a bit bigger than the rest#next time I'll do a different method for the binding stitch. Definitely need to have each side be it's own thread but#I'm not sure how best to bury the ends when I'm done. none of the tutorials I found showed the end#regardless I'm very proud of this. it took me probably 6-8 hours total 😬#so much work for something so small but I love it a lot
