Ah, this COVER. Its SO SPARKLY. I found this vinyl first and then immediately knew how I wanted to use it. Its got glitter in it, so it did make laying the cover out quite a task. I had a few versions of the cover in my head, and pulled the scope of it back SIGNIFICANTLY - but I think this is perfect for this fic.

I did have to fussy cut every red peace out and iron them on individually. Never again l o l.

Typeset for this was very simple. Header bands and a complementary drop caps color - red and blue. I also matched the page breaks to whoever's POV, as well as alternating page number graphics. Simple and clean.

Headbands. I...I don't want to talk about the headbands.

This was also the first time i figured out how to do the fucking cover boards. It took QUITE a while, and i still don't get it right half the time - but the crease and the spine and the board with? Started cooking here.

If you haven't read this fucking classic Stony fic, I recommend. The pure idiots to lovers here is mouthwatering, mixed with the classic good 616 comic content - i hope ya'll hop over and read this. Thanks to the lovely Dr Amuly for being cool about me binding their work <3

Iron Man wasn't a hero, and that's precisely why the Avengers sought so diligently to capture him. But it seemed that the man behind the mask was always a step ahead of them, and their many failures were like good old jokes the villain couldn't get enough of. He was destructive, anarchic and mischievous. Steve knew he had to stop him at all costs before his technology affected more than just their city.

His vision changed in spite of himself when, one day, just as Steve was about to enter a burning building headlong to seek out the last citizens to evacuate, he witnessed the massive Iron Man armor emerge from the flames, holding a small bundle in his arms.

A tiny baby with a soot-stained face, wrapped in a half-burnt blanket, bawling pathetically against the heat and lack of air.

He saw the tiny shifting of the armor as Iron Man cradled the baby, his full attention riveted on this defenseless little being. He saw Iron Man gently place his mettalic fingertip against the baby's lips, so that the toddler could suck on it and soothe himself.

Steve lowered his shield, flabbergasted by the sight. Before his eyes was living proof that his beliefs were wrong: Iron Man was not the monster he'd imagined.

The man in the armor straightened up and turned his head in his direction. "The baby needs help, Cap."

This event focuses on creating dark/angst fics and art for the Steve/Tony pairing this upcoming February. What "dark" means is open to interpretation for each creator. There are no limits to the content you produce. However, all fanworks must be appropriately tagged. Please tag your work as responsibly as you see fit, or use "Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings."

What counts as a "dark" fanworks?

This term is very ambiguous, so it is left up to the discretion of the creator as to what they are comfortable creating. Think in relation to AO3's big warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death (MCD), Underage, and Rape/Non-Con. Some common themes might include but are not limited to: psychological trauma, gore, vore, (body) horror, emotional manipulation, MCD, abuse, non-consensual body modification/drug use, dub-con, non-con, gaslighting, betrayal, and more.

Do I have to make a work to get a gift for this event?

Yes, since this is a gift exchange all participants are required to create a work for another participant to get one in return.

Requirements:

Artists must submit an original piece for the event, either traditional or digital work.

Writers must submit a minimum of 2,500 words. There's no maximum cap.

"Nice tie," Steve reaches out and lightly brushes his fingers over Tony's tie. It's a dark red material, more burgundy than red if Steve's being totally honest, and it's soft to the touch.

"Silk," Tony answers his unasked question, "It's a new purchase." It comes out bland, almost pompous, and there was a time that Steve knows better now. Understands Tony better now.

He hears what goes unsaid : I bought it just for you.

On impulse more than anything, Steve fishes it out from where it's been neatly tucked against Tony's off-white shirt. It makes Tony look distinctly unruffled, in that his tie is now out of place, and nothing else, is. Every other part of his ensemble : the suit, the shoes, his hair, are set perfectly, nothing out of place.

Except his burgundy tie. Because Steve's pulled it out from hiding.

They're at a dinner for some foreign dignitary who's name Steve cannot remember for the life of him. The dignitary's being hosted at the White House, and supposedly, Steve is here because his mother is unavailable and it would look back if nobody from the First Family were to make an appearance at this very important dinner for a person he's likely never even met.

In reality, Steve is here because he's currently having vivid fantasies about Tony's burgundy tie wrapped around Steve's wrists, pulling his arms up and over his head; against the headboard in his room.

They're in public, milling around the dinner because it's still the appetiser and networking stage. That is to say : Steve should absolutely not be doing what he's doing, which is fiddling with Tony's tie in a manner that's distinctly not very 'we're actually super platonic heterosexual friends and not sleeping together in any capacity.'

Experimentally, Steve wraps the tie around his palm, and tugs. Tony lets out the tiniest of whimpers, and Steve is overcome with the desire to chase the sound, see if it can get louder, softer, weaker.
