Project OH.MG - The Decidening
Looks at me installing SSL certs on a Saturday
Photo de Stephen Phillips – Hostreviews.co.uk sur Unsplash For reasons back in 2021 when I moved oh.mg to my home machines, I was having issues with certificates. Sure Let’s Encrypt exists but there were two problems with this, some things I was using internally weren’t able to get a cert issued to them and having to update everything by hand every 90 days was not ideal. So I managed to bag a…

Hello! I’m wondering is archive.transformative works.org separate or connected to archiveofourown.org? Noticed you linked the former for the Arthur x Eames fic in your recent post
Yes! I actually only learned this recently, hence the exclamation mark and why I’m so excited to tell you about a new fact I have to share. It is an official URL. For some reason, it often appears when I’ve come to the archive from Google.
Here’s proof from the AO3 FAQs:

…and yes, you did read that right.
archiveofourown.gay is an official url you can use.
#ask box#the technical bit is that transformativeworks is the org that runs AO3#and that address I just linked is a subdomain of theirs#but in other news this explains why I was fighting for my life to log in on my phone

yo if you have multiple websites (like if you have multiple neocities sites, or if you have a nekoweb, a github page, AND a themed tumblr site) and if you just generally like anything where you get a subdomain, I made something for you (bc I also have multiple websites and I made it for me 😭)
basically domain whores for ppl who can't buy domains but like having lots of websites anyways :P

Hi. I was trying to find the picture of a Himalayan cat you linked in Arm Candy so I could show my friend, because we were talking about extremely floofy animals. Unfortunately the picture on imageur seems to have gotten removed cuz the link in your fic says “no longer exists”. However I think the same picture is on the fandom wiki for Cats, so here is a link, in case you would like to update your fic:
i was hoping the fic images would be safe because they get viewed enough to avoid the imgur purge... 😭 i will see about getting it up somewhere using my unpretty.space domain
#original#there's imagehosting kind of but maybe i can add a subdomain just for that lol#i don't like using kittyunpretty.com for fic anymore just to be safe#(tumblr wouldn't let them link so it's in a comment on ao3)

so uh. the gunter fanshrine may or may not be in a state of a shitpost rather than an actual fanshrine but. it happennin'
#i really need to refill the drawing queue & finish the feh comic & some other minor stuff before going BACK in the coding trenches for this#but lowkey want to get it up before the end of the year?#(new host makes it unbelievably easy/cheap to set up subdomains so i couldn't resist lol)#literally reduced my site bills by a factor of 20. crazy!!!#either way if i'm feeling particularly coding-brained i'll be tackling this next

Been working on a personal OC/worldbuilding site bc my toyhouse has gotten somewhat unwieldy and wow wow wow it's so satisfying to have this much flexibility and control over my html/css and my file structure and the way I connect different pages and show the connections between things ^^
It's going slow, but mostly because I'm a slow writer and I want all my little guys to have at least a paragraph-long summary explaining in loose terms Their Whole Deal...
But overall it's really nice to feel like my OCs are more integrated into a single continuous world!! I put a lot of thought into who fits where before I started, and so far it's really paid off xD
#hmm this is a group this is a group and this is a group and they#all come from different times and places in-universe#if I've seemed a bit quiet it's bc I've been working a lot on this!#haven't decided whether to host it on a subdomain or pay for a seperate domain for it yet#but that comes later I think lol#currently at a grand total of 10 OC bios and there are around 8 more I wanna add before I'm ready to think about publishing the site proper#plus there's the tasks of organising my very messy lore notes and making a world map and writing hundreds of image descriptions#I'm not joking either I have like a decade of art and OCs at this point#makes it fairly easy to build a world around the OCs cuz I was able to go haha

why does it seem like every website has moved away from giving people subdomains for their pages? what's wrong with username.deviantart.com? username.tumblr.com?? why'd they change from this i would genuinely like to know.
#lab notes#idk why but username.website.com feels a LOT more personal than website.com/username#like#the former feels like i am part of the site and like this is my own little section of the site#meanwhile the latter feels just tacked on. like yeah whatever you have an account with us. who cares.#youre not worthy of a subdomain ur just another page#or whatever#idk#i know u can still get the subdomain/custom blog on tumblr#but it aint the default anymore#and i dont think most new users even know about it

dont you hate it when you forget that most people will find random links suspicious — even when the link is completely innocent, and the fact it is innocent can be verified by the fact that it has a well known domain and that domain is written correctly
#dont open links from unfamiliar domains or where the domain is written incorrectly#or where theres a subdomain where there shouldnt be

Always awkward when you realise that this one Tumblr user was actually two completely different Tumblr users with sort-of similar URLs. Even if they never knew your mistake, it still feels weird. No, I will not give examples.
#yes I know it's actually a subdomain not an url personally I'm annoyed about that as well#but it's the established lingo round these parts and not using that word would be even weirder
