#Sun Wukong and Macaque are MK's parents

Hmmm...say, theoretically, when SWK gets possessed, could it be possible that MK also drains LBD of her power when SWK attacks? I mean, he won't be doing great emotionally at the sight of that?
Theoretically...
If thats what happens in the story (spoilers >:))
If the possession were to go like in canon, it would end up like this:
Tumblr media
MK, 100% stressed: "At least there's an up side to this??"
Possessed!SWK: *doing 0 damage*
Macaque, fighting Possessed!SWK: *also doing 0 damage* "I wanna say you're doing great, but if I do the fight gets harder."
LBD:
Tumblr media
The Mayor: "It's like watching two training dummies boxing."

I’m trying to manifest Macaque being a single parent of one daughter who’s just figuring out how to give Bai he the best life he can possibly give her.
Meanwhile there’s Wukong who has like five kids and is a veteran at parenting… he’s seen everything.
Macaque thinks his one kid will scare people off but Wukong knows his kids will actively try to kill anyone if they tried to date him.
Wukong embraces the chaos that comes with a full house of kids while Macaque is still trying to be the parent who has his kid doing millions of after school activities and his house is pristine.
Just them being parents is all I want

Hello! Can you write a oneshot or a headcanon (platonic, ofc) about Macaque with a reserved but also very outgoing child? (like those kids that are calm and reserved but if you mention something they really like they just go off and start rambling all happy and excited)
I had this idea in my head for a little while, I think it'd be really funny and wholesome if he just appeared at Pigsy's Noodles w/ his child and everyone's like "wh- YOU'RE A DAD??? WHEN??? HOW????" and he just watches with that Tired Parent Look™ as his kid stares directly at MK and goes "YOU'RE THAT MONKIE GUY ON THE TV!!!"
Sorry for any errors! English is not my first language, I apologize for the long text aswell, I'm just an absolute sap for the "tired but loving dad" trope also you can totally delete my ask or skip it if you don't want to write it!! Thank you either way, your writing is wonderful :) !
All right! *cracks fingers, snaps neck- whoops-*
You got it anon! Sorry for not answering this ask sooner, I realized headcanons are easier to write than an actual oneshot considering the limited time I have to write nowadays. But I hope you enjoy, and thanks for the ask! <333

MACAQUE X CHILD!READER
Lego Monkie Kid
Context: Long ago, a wise old monkey had taken you under his wing, to train you and teach you the ways- okay, let's save the theatrics for later, that's Macaque's thing. Your father figure. Honestly, he's growing on you, and it's starting to show now that people are pointing it out.
TW: None!
HEADCANNONS
‧˚₊꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒦꒷‧₊˚⊹‧˚₊꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒦꒷‧₊˚⊹
Macaque doesn't normally take you somewhere where conflict is bound to arise. He'd prefer someplace more peaceful, like a park/museum/theater. Unless, of course, he's in the mood for adventure and will literally take you skydiving without a permit.
Totally the irresponsible dad. He's protective as FUCK, let's make that clear, but in the end he trusts you to take care of yourself
perhaps a bit too much, and even you think that
He'll encourage you to pet that snake
He'll give you the thumbs up if you wanted to climb to the top of the weather tower during a thunderstorm
Like "Go get 'em, (Y/N)! Make your father proud!"
With such a dramatic character when it comes to encouraging you, Macaque will become insanely tired. He'll be snoring on the couch and won't wake up even if you stacked all the furniture in the house on his back
Speaking of the house, he and you live far away from any danger
This guy didn't know jack shit about being a dad at first (you kind of hat to teach him, oh how the turns have tabled) But once he understood the basics, he took the reins, eager to impress you and earn your respect. Macaque isn't usually a sucker for developing any relationship with Earthly figures, but you were the only exception. He'd lay awake at night thinking if he's making the right choice, then slapping himself for even considering abandoning you. You are too precious.
Which is why he's totally, utterly wrapped around your little finger
So when you ask to get take-out at Pigsy's Noodles, it doesn't take much effort to sway his stoic resolve
"Dad. Pops. Papa. Father of mine," you say, grabbing his face, looking a lot older than you actually are. "Please!"
Since Macaque can't turn his face to the side (squished as it is), he sighs dramatically and closes his eyes. You catch the faint, irritated twitch of his tail, but that's about the only hint of Fed-Up Parent you can detect.
"(Y/N), Megapolis is miles away."
"You have shadow magic!"
"You can't just abuse my powers, especially now that you've decided to abuse yours," he grunts, albeit grinning at you. He' loosing.
Triumph fills your chest. "I can handle it! Uncle Pigsy would love to see me!"
"Uncle!?" Macaque splutters, finally escaping your grip. Shocked eyes blink down at you. "Sweetheart, you haven't even met Pigsy, you've only seen him from afar."
You blink up, flaunting those devil-may-care puppy eyes.
Oh, he hates it when you do that.
"Puh-lease! I'll do anything! i'll scratch your back! Do my chores before games! I-I'll stay out of your secret stash of peaches!" You gasp, flopping down on the soft carpet lining the floor. You consider the intricate pattern for a moment, then mutter under your breath; "Even though you said you hate those. . . ."
Macaque fixes you with a stern look. "You know about that, huh?"
"Mayyybe."
Like I said, not that much effort. The guy may be invulnerable to harm at best, but his immortality falls short under your tactics. Persuasive skills that he taught you to use.
Sucks how plans backfire, huh?
When you two do get to the shop, however, Macaque goes into full parent-mode
He doesn't care if you think it's uncool, you're holding his hand and that's that. He'd get you one of those child harnesses but thank the stars you'd convinced him you're worth more than such a humiliating child-control device.
So in you go, holding hands, Macaque glaring at anyone who spares you a curious glance.
When Macaque sees who's at the counter, he almost does a 180 out of there
It's MK.
Of all people.
He hasn't seen the two of you yet, though. You feel Macaque's paw tighten over your small, nimble fingers, and you can't help but squeeze back in return, asking a silent question.
It's times like these where you don't know what to do. You're still a child, even if this was your idea.
But then you spot who's at the counter
and At the same time, Pigsy comes 'round the corner with a giant tray of noodles- fit for the exact number of people surrounding the Monkie Kid. Suddenly, Macaque realizes who all is there.
This guy
Parent-Panic-Pro
The literal Monkey King is the first to turn head, eyes landing on Macaque first. You can tell instantly his fight-or-flight response just kicked in; shoulders tensing, teeth baring, eyes widening (oh yes, typical ex behavior- HAHA)
Then, all heads are turning.
And Monkey King's eyes land on you
Macaque steps in front of you, form tense and on high alert. "Heyyyy," he says, awkwardly.
The Monkey King tilts his head, perhaps confused as to why his old friend is protecting a little kid. Then he realizes. Poor guy connects the dots, lets out an unholy gasp of astonishment, and points and the both of you
"YOU. YOU- AND THEM- MACISTHATYOURKID-"
Pandemonium.
At least, in the most gentle context. MK and his friends do a double take, the Monkey King is gaping and trying to figure out who could ever love Macaque to result in this- and your dad just completely gives up. He gives you this look, like 'see why I was against bringing you here'
And you know. And your eyes say sorry, that you'll make it up to him later
Typical silent father/child communicating
(you guys are really good at that, communicating through your eyes or expressions. it helps in crowds)
That is, until your eyes fall on MK and realize for the first time that he's actually there
And Macaque's face falls into an impossibly disappointed facade (really, he's happy you're socializing) as you let go of his hand and prance right up to MK, eyes literal stars.
Thank goodness for MK, for he's kind and patient enough to let you blabble and gush on about how cool he is and how you've stayed up to date on the latest chaos he's incited (poor dude looks a bit downcast at that)
Funny how you went to such a well-behaved, shy kid to an energetic hyper-fixated gremlin in two seconds
All the while, Pigsy is listening, Monkey King corners Macaque and quietly demands answers (the two of them talk in the background for awhile as you socialize)
Noodles are served
There's just so many people in Pigsy's Noodles that the owner himself couldn't keep track of who ordered what, so everyone just got the same thing- and lots of it
In the end, you're all sitting down at the table (everyone had worked together to gather as many spare tables/chairs as possible to sit together at one huge-ass table)
You insisted you sit with Mei and MK in order to interrogate them about their adventures
OF course, you mean well, and they know that. And Macaque never pulls you aside because he likes seeing you like this, it makes him happy knowing you're indulging in the things you love, and he deosn't have the heart to tell you it's almost time to go home.
So you stay there for awhile, chatting with Mk and his friends
You get to know Pigsy (he doesn't mind being called your uncle, said at this point he's practically everyone's uncle or dad)
But alas
You're bit a child
And towards the end of the night, aftter everyone is stuffed full of noodles, you're conked out in your chair, slumped and snoring softly, eyes fluttering from dreaming
Everyone glances at you, how fucking adorable you are
Macaque straightens, clears his throat, says it's time for him to leave
Sun Wukong stops him for a moment, just to say
"Keep them safe, Mac."
Of course, like the #1 Dad he is, Macaque snorts. "I think I know more about raising a kid than you do, Wukong. I'll . . . see you out there."
Then he picks you up, carefully, so you stay sleeping, and walks out
but not before turning around to thank everyone for dinner
For once, they offer smiles (some are weaker and less meaningful than others, but props for trying. Macaque is kinda responsible for a lot of pain in their lives, anyways)
You don't register any of it, too full of noodles and new information regarding your idols
Macaque knows he'll never hear the end of it
Perhaps that's a good thing, considering the fond smile on his face as he gently carries you home, lays you in bed, and pulls the covers over your snoring form. He eagerly awaits the morning to which you'll wake him up excitedly ranting about tonight, about how you want to do it again
And he's wrapped around your little finger, so if course he'll listen to you
this guy would move the world for you

Delusional
Y’know, stress can do a lot of terrible, terrible things to the body--a thought that had me in a chokehold since last night, and now has gripped me this morning until I put it to words. This happens basically right after Sins of the Father. I wasn't planning on making anything super connected, so don't expect that--but this idea just made sense.
This Yandere Wukong belongs to @lopsushi ! Sorry for all the pings, I just get so inspired by high emotion so XDD Here you go!
This story is also now on AO3, if you want all the disconnected yandere ramblings so far!
***
There are many kinds of love.
So what does a parental yandere look like?
***
He isn’t waking up.
The dark room smells of fever sweat. Little breaths puff out of a shivering body. So fragile. So small. Mortal. Mortal, with every beat of a fragile heart. Mortal, with every rattling breath, his lungs knocking against his rib cage, a patter-pitter-patter-rasp.
And yet….
And yet.
Wukong can’t leave the doorway. He’s stone again. A guardian statue. Staring within. A pile of blankets makes a makeshift nest. It can be better. He can curl up with his mate, around their cub, tails all in a family knot, hold them close, hold them tight. No one can hurt them. Not when he’s there. But a disease can’t be torn apart, sinew by sinew, atom by atom. Painfully. Slowly. But bloodlust won’t make that little body stop shaking…. It’s a noise from his mate that finally spurs him to move. Some sort of murmur, a whimper, he doesn’t know. It’s small. Too small for his Starlight.
Blink.
And he’s by his mate’s side.
Macaque half-hangs off the cushioned bed, one hand curled around their cub’s. Their cub. Their cub. His mate. His. Carefully, he scoops Mac into his arms—one arm under his knees, another cradles his head. So small and light and precious and warm. Beautiful, even with his messy fur…. And the tear tracks carving across those fiery facial markings. But despite his efforts, his Starlight’s always been a light sleeper. It takes so little to make those beautiful eyes twitch awake. “Mmn, Wukong?”
“Shhhh….” He nuzzles into that soft juncture of Mac’s throat, letting out a half-purr. He can’t manage anything full-bodied and reassuring. Something his mate must need. Gods, those dark circles beneath his eyes…. Wukong despises the worry his darling must feel. “...I’m just moving you to our room.”
“...Don’t…. I-I need—” Macaque squirms, uselessly. Wukong is stronger…. And those struggles are so weak. Has Mac eaten? Has he drank? It’s been hours. Or an eternity. Wukong doesn’t know, the moment MK got sick, Mac… Mac didn’t want him in the room. And he appreciates those protective instincts for their cub, he does, it’s adorable and amazing and it makes him love Mac more! But…. It’s torture watching him fall apart to try and keep MK… healthy. And he’s watched. Of course he has. Mac just… didn’t let him past the doorway, beyond his silent vigil, his burning red eyes.
“Starlight, you’re exhausted. Rest.” He tries to insist.
“I-I need to be with him.” Those struggles increase. It’s gone from weak twitching to desperate flailing, and Wukong usually hates when Mac tries to get away from him. But he’s not. Not really. Every movement is a surge towards their cub. “Please. Wukong. Let… Let me stay.”
He hesitates. Fuck, does he hesitate. He’s torn apart by two instincts, to ensure the health of his mate and to ensure that his cub is taken care of. We don’t need to. We can always have another. Something dark purrs in the back of his mind. We can even make it painless. It’s something with sweet, poisonous claws. The same loving claws that hold Macaque so tight to his heart. The same claws that curl through his Darling’s fur. His claws. His love. Curling around Macaque, cradling him close, cradling him close to his heart—
“Monkie King!” A sunshine smile.
Wukong settles Mac into MK’s bed. He tears a fistful of hairs from his head, heedless of the pain. The pain is nothing, a fly bite. His hairs poof into blankets. The softest, warmest blankets that he adds to the nest, piling Mac in, wrapping them up, curling around them, his mate, his cub, tangled together in a comforting pile of heart beat and breath and fur. Soft. Warm. His.
A cough makes him flinch.
“Why isn’t he better?” Wukong’s voice cracks under the weight of his worry, as he skims his fingers over that burning forehead. “It’s…. It’s been—”
“A week, Wukong. It’s been a week.” Macaque speaks, but his eyes are closed when the Monkey King looks over. He’s struggling to keep awake. His hearing isn’t as good as his darling’s, but Wukong can hear those measured breaths. Counted breaths. Trying to stay conscious. But those eyelids are too heavy. Mac can’t even keep his eyes open.
“Too long.” His tail thumps against the bed. Once, twice. “He was fine. I don’t understand. Food, toys, clothes, games, everything he could want a-and—all the best things. He shouldn’t be sick, he— he was fine.”
“...He wasn’t.” It’s a weak murmur. Mac’s breaths even out before he can retort. Wukong’s lips pinch. By now, their cub should see. Right? MK needs to know that this is his home. That Wukong is his father and Mac is his mother. He should know that by now. Why…? Why can’t he see that?
Minutes. Hours. Time blurs. A hitch of breath breaks him out of his meditation—trance? Whatever. He doesn’t care. Hope leaps in his chest. His son’s fingers twitch! MK. MK! He wants to scoop him into his arms and nuzzle his cheeks and groom his messy, messy bed hair and…. MK’s eyes open. Brown. Blurry. But open. Open and— and not bright, dull with the fever. But open. Finally open.... “...Hey, Son.” Wukong doesn’t miss the way MK flinches, as he rubs his forehead. He massages his temples. Wukong gets headaches there, sometimes. He hopes it makes him feel better. It will. “...How are you feeling?”
“...Leave.” MK’s eyes slide shut. It’s almost like the mere word is an effort. And so raspy, dry, such a dry throat. He needs water. Ice water with lemon and mint and money and food, good, refreshing fruits and rest and—
“What?” The word finally catches up to the King.
“Why… Why are you even… here?” MK blearily turns his head away. It must be the fever. It must be the fever.
“I-I– because you’ve been sick.” So sick. Unconscious for a week, making both of them worry, he’d scold MK but it’s not his fault. “I’ve been so worried—”
“Don’t,” MK grates out. It’s almost a growl. And his little baby fangs flash. Wukong wants better water for him, but he settles with the cup he left for Macaque. It’s untouched. His mate needs water too, he’s immortal but he doesn’t need to suffer and….
“Don’t what?” Lightly, he scoops a hand under MK’s head. Carefully tilts it forward, so he can press the cup to his lips. Drink. Drink. Why is he still trying to turn away? He has to be thirsty, he must be thirsty. Insistently, he presses the cup a little harder. It forces MK’s lips open, and he has to drink. Wukong doesn’t waterboard him, but it’s a damn near thing. His son gets a few mouthfuls before he violently jerks his head away, but. Wukong will take it. He’ll take it. It’s better than nothing… for now.
“You don’t…. Stop. Stop acting like you still… c-care.” Tears. MK. Is crying. Why? No, he needs that water, don’t cry, he doesn’t need to cry. Wukong’s claws are so gentle as he thumbs away the tears. “Y-You don’t care. You never did. You don’t love me. This isn’t….”
“...You think I don’t love you?” Horror trembles through Wukong’s voice. How? How could he not… see he did? What did he do wrong?
“...You hurt me.” MK murmurs, his eyes dizzily skimming the ceiling. Everywhere but him. Wukong desperately searches his mind for an answer. The transformation? It was necessary. MK’s life span isn’t their own. Or, wasn’t. Being a celestial monkey will extend that, at least until he’s either willing ready to learn Taoism or he can get another method to make sure their cub stays with them forever. And— And it’s hard to get into heaven, for him, right now. He can’t get a peach or a pill or wine. He can’t…. He can’t make sure death won’t claim his little cub. “You lied to me.”
“When?” Wukong stares at MK, uncomprehending. When did he lie? Images spiral.
A boy clinging to a ceiling. Eyes shining as they alight on his staff, despite his fear of the demons plotting below. The boy sees the staff and wants it, so he’ll have it. Wukong, from the moment he sees him, is ready to give those shining eyes the world. Wukong knows. He knows, in that moment, that this boy is his. He starts with giving him his staff.
A successor, who braved demons and volcanoes and the ocean itself, to try and bring his staff to him. Who he watches, every step of the way. He can’t step in, not yet. Not yet. He needs to see what the boy can do, he wants to see what the boy can do. Pride fills him at every little victory. He can’t tear his eyes away from any fight. As a butterfly, a hawk, a fly, he follows the boy through his first, small journey. Baby steps. It’s like watching a baby take his first steps.
A baby who throws himself at his feet when he loses the staff. Who shines with the King’s encouragement, with the mere belief that of course he can get the staff back. Because he’s perfect. He’s the perfect successor. A ball of sunshine and laughs and he’s just like him. Before the Journey. Mischief, happiness, a little Wukong. His. His little Wukong, from the moment he sees him.
A little Wukong, who he can’t hold the hand of every step of the way, but he can offer encouragement. He can limit his powers, help him control them to fight demons in a weather tower, train him to use his staff, and then—then it gets better. MK finds his darling. He gets his mate, he gets his son, and he takes them home. Where they belong. His family, his perfect little family.
Just as Macaque became irreplaceable to him, so did MK.
No one else could be his cub.
He doesn’t want anyone else.
“MK. Not just anyone could be my cub, my successor. I love you. So much. I….” It’s a different love than his love for Mac. Obviously. His cub is something precious that he needs to protect, hold, teach. To show how to groom and forage and do all the things he learned to do. Gentler. No filet. A gentle hand and an occasional scolding word, but never… to hurt. A sunshine smile that makes his insides feel so soft and makes him want to hug the little one so close. And there’s clouds over that smile, but they’ll part eventually. MK made his life so bright, so bright, when all he had was darkness and lost his mate and— MK brought his darling back to him. He took his staff, he learned from him, and he’s just as much Wukong’s as Macaque is. His love for them is as deep as the ocean, deeper, extending beneath the Earth’s crust and boiling in the lava at its center.
There’s no way to put it into words.
Maybe that’s why those eyes stay so… disbelieving.
“...Liar.” It’s the fever talking. It must be the fever talking…. But what can he— MK. Breathing. He’s not breathing. Why is he not breathing? No. Nonononononono— N O. Wukong pulls his staff from his ear. It goes from a needle to a pole in mere moments. Bloodlust. Anger. The desire to rip and tear and—his smile widens, more fangs than anything else. So the Ten Kings think they can take his son, do they?
He’ll burn their kingdom to the ground.
And t h e n—he’ll tear MK’s name out of the Book of Death.
***
Is MK technically dead? Nooooot exactly, but also yes? Do you really think Wukong will let him stay dead? N o p e. Anyway this wasn't supposed to end like that, but y'know, I kinda love the imagery.
Feast upon the angst, my children.

Hmm...actually, once the identities are revealed...how do Sandy, Pigsy and Tang feel about whenever SWK or Mac casually drop a gods name casually, like "Oh, Nezha said he might drop by later", like that has to feel weird, y'know?
Macaque tries to keep things subtle around the noodle shop gang, but Wukong slips up occasionally.
When Nezha first appears at the shop pre-reveal looking like a grungy teenage demon with snake features (he's associated with them in the mythos) and SWK welcomes him warmly - Pigsy and Tang just assume the kid is relative that the monkey couple trusted enough to know where they are. Soon Nezha starts to get used to being treated like An Actual Child by adults who care about him and his mature facade starts to break down. The noodle shop gang think its more that the kid has a rough home life and needs a safe place to hang out. So whats the harm in letting the little guy stay too?
After the two monkey's are revealled as the Monkey King and the Six Eared Macaque however? Many questions are asked.
Pigsy: *turns to look at "Nez"* Nezha: "..." Pigsy: "Let me guess... Lotus Prince right?" Nezha: "Yeah." Pigsy: "You gonna turn back into your real form or...?" Nezha, looking a bit bashful: "What if I told you the snake-y and gross teenage stuff was my real form?" Tang: "Oh my gosh... you need acne cream." Pigsy: "TANG!" Tang: "I'm just saying! Human puberty is bad enough! Imagine being immortal with it! He needs to keep moisturized!" Pigsy: "Well, atleast he's been eating decently since he's been here... could use more protein though." Sandy: "And plenty of rest! You can't burn the candle at both ends! Even if it's infinite!" Nezha: *is honestly touched* (T▽T)
But yeah the gang do get confused at times when the monkeys bring up random names in history/mythology they know. Like "Cooking with Chang'e" airs one night, and Macaque randomly mentions:
Macaque: "Huh, she's on tv? She used to be really nervous with public speaking when we were little." Pigsy, shellshocked: "How do you know that!?" Macaque: "She's my sister, duh. I was born from a moon rock. She helped raise me until I moved to Flower Fruit Mountain to be with other Monkey demons." Pigsy: *incomprehensible spluttering* Tang: "Does she actually like mooncakes, or is that more a commercial thing?" Macaque: "She likes them, but her favorite kind has osmanthus in it." Pigsy & Tang: *aggressively takes notes for different reasons*
After a while it gets more annoying than amazing. Especially since Pigsy was already unimpressed with any immortal who wasn't Chang'e.
Erlang: "I require an audience with Sun Wukong." Pigsy, not even looking up from the stove: "He's on break." Erlang: "I assume you did not hear me correctly. I require an immediate audience with Sun Wukong." Pigsy: "And I told you: HE'S ON BREAK! Now you wait, buy something, or scram!" Erlang, stunned: "......lamb noodles please." *Wukong returns from break to see Erlang feeding his dog bits of lamb.* Erlang: "Wukong, you must understand that my visit is not one of pleasure. I have tasked myself to inquire about the status of your mission regarding The Egg." Wukong: "No egg here! Except for whats in the fridge. Hehehe." *dad joke* Erlang, glaring with all three eyes: "Hmm..." Wukong: *sweating nervously* Erlang: "...ok. I can see that you're truthful in that there is no Cosmic Egg present in this facility. Why you busy yourself in these mortals matters is beyond me. But be warned simian..." Wukong: "What?" Erlang: "We should spar more often, bro. Me and the Plum Hill boys starting to miss you on the training grounds. Plus you're starting to look fluffier." *Erlang and his dog leaves* Wukong: "Phew! Glad I got rid of him!" Macaque, returns from getting cheese tea, visibly pregnant: "What that jerk want?" Wukong: "Old work stuff." Macaque: "He's lucky I'm incapacitated, or I would have neutered him to match his hound." Wukong: "I know you would." Tang: *trying desperately not to explode cus was that just Erlang Shen?!*
Sandy is a lot more chill. That person he just talked to was a god? That's cool! Hope he's made a new friend today! Accidentally befriends a bunch of them just by being a cool dude. The dragon kingdoms think he's a great ambassador.

Shadowalkers Au
Ok so I said I was gonna make this so here we go...
(I literally came up with this idea in the subway help) (I'm going to assume y'all have watched the movie)
Basically: Lmk cast in Wolfwalkers.
BUT
There is a little bit of different lore here
For starters, they're not wolves anymore. (it just didn't really make sense to me to make them into a different animal especially since both celestial primates can do the 72 transformations like it's no biggie) They're more like the enormous f*ck you smoke monster that Macaque introduced in his first episode. So you're a person when you're awake and a shadow when you're asleep.
Macaque takes the role of Mammy here and Bai He the role of Mebh Xiaotian plays Robyn and Wukong as Goodfellowe, ok? ok.
Bai He gets to be a little gremlin, Mk is big brother, Wukong is Good Dad TM and while not in here as much, Mac is also Good Dad TM
Now Mk and Wukong are regular stone monkeys from a far away mountain (SWK doesn't have all his OP taoist superpowers here). Their old home was burned down and they were forced to move. Wukong was already serving as a disciple under master Tripitaka when he took in a baby MK as his own. Tripitaka sadly perished in the fire.
The new town they move to is called the Diyu ruled under the 10th king in a long line of monarchs (why the background seemed so dark and a bit sinister in the last pic). Wukong serves as a hunter to get rid of all the shadow creatures in the nearby woods who seem to have a mind of their own.
But why get rid of them? Well you know how in the mythos, the Diyu was the land of the dead? Well in this au, Shadowalkers are known to be real but very rare and they have the power of healing and are said to be able to control the line between life and death. See what I'm getting at here?
Now because of Wukong's intense fear of death, and in this au he'd already been taught by the monk and now has a son of his own to worry about and without the layers of immortality to shield him, I figured, he'd be a lot more cautious and closer to Goodfellowe in this way. He'd still be more carefree and playful of course but he's still under the firm grip of the command of the king. (the circlet thingys on his gloves also signifies this)
The majority of the population here are humans since I wanted to single out Mk and SWK here and it just made sense so for the majority of the time, they wear cloaks so as to not frighten everyone.
Ok so about the abilities of the shadowalkers, oh boy,
One, they can heal. Two, they have their smoke monster like forms. Three, they can travel through shadows themselves and mare most powerful at night. When they travel in the shadows, they're flat like the surfaces they travel on. And like in the movie, a bite from a shadowalker can turn you into a shadowalker too.
Also concentrated light can hurt them. So for example a flame-tipped arrow can hurt them but not a small ray of sunlight.
Mk sneaks out after his dad one day (idk who could play the role of merlin here) and somehow finds Bai He and gets bitten in the woods. They bond and it's just an adorable thing yada yada.
At night, Mk finds out he's become a shadowalker and finds Bai He. She teaches him their ways and he returns home only to be found by the town who freak out. Wukong himself tries to impale him with his staff but fails. Mk is able to escape and make his way into the palace.
He finds a humongous smoke monster in a cage (aka macaque) and deduces that this must be Bai He's missing dad. But when he tries to free him, Mac tells him to get Bai He and leave cause it's to dangerous and Mk gets found by the king himself.
He wakes up in his person body and tells whoever plays Merlin to find Bai He and leave. She doesn't believe this and runs into town to find MK who's working and reluctantly does what she's told but feels betrayed.
Then she hears word that they were going to execute a giant shadow creature that the king had caught and runs to find it as she realized that they were talking about her dad.
She finds him all caged up and to stop her from getting hurt, Mk calls over to the village kids that he's caught the monster and they put her in a wooden cage (noo...the babies...)
Bai He breaks out anyways, runs to her dad and Wukong is told to catch the girl but Mac ain't having that no no no.
He goes from 0 to 100 and bites Wukong in the arm, giving Bai He the chance to escape but being locked up again in the process. Bai He declares war on the town and runs off.
We have the whole confrontation scene between MK and his dad and Mk frees Mac and they run off to escape. And FINALLY Macaque can reunite with his daughter (see I can be nice...)
...before getting impaled by Wukong's magic staff (nevermind)
(how on brand)
Bai He flees with the shadow creatures and the dying spirit of her father while MK tries to follow after them with Wukong holding him back. Mk falls asleep and transforms in front of his dad before the army caught up.
We have the whole climax battle between the imperial forces of the Diyu and the shadows + WUKONG GETS TO TRANSFORM INTO HIS 3 HEADED KAIJU WAR FORM HERE WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
(if you couldn't tell, I have a soft spot for this gremlin)
Then we have my personal favourite scene where the kids heal Macaque and HE'S ALIVE AGAIN YAY
They welcome Wukong into their troupe and FINALLY are able to leave and find their new home...
flower fruit mountain
Gosh that was a mouthful! I'm gonna go to bed now before I get yelled at...
I'll see if I update this au much with like redrawn scenes from the film or headcanons and such but idk, but feel free to drop any ideas in the comments!
(come to think of it, I should also make one of these for shennanigans in space..)

Angst time. in squashed apricots, have or will Mac and Sun ever (almost) go berserk in front of MK? 🤔
weeeell, they probably will when he's much older, mac has tried to keep his temper under wraps for most of mk's childhood, especially since he's gained a little better control over his emotions after him and wukong made up. i think he would also try to keep wukong's temper at bay too, since he's the one who's prone to violence (motions towards jttw)
mac is very against fighting in front of mk, and I like to think the only time younger mk sees wukong ever go "berserk" is when he happens to watch a play retelling the events of mac's death and then hears it from mac himself but once he gets older and actually starts training it's kinda inevitable to see them angry and fighting, and then with the stuff that I have planned for lbd...
