I hung out in the living room all morning with my sister watching YouTube and made myself an oddish...

GARDENERS OF TUMBLR: PLEASE TAKE NOTICE ive been seeing a LOT of users raving about planting Oddish eggs in their backyard gardens so they have natural wild pokemon to encourage growth in their berry bushes, but PLEASE, do some research regarding their population growth capacities.

it’s not a super well known fact, but Oddish spread like crazy. they may be super cute to look at in the daytime, but they are NOCTURNAL. this means that when a gardener has no watch over their crop at night, the Oddish they raised will attempt to escape and will begin growing more Oddish at a rapidly increasing rate. this ends up being a danger to entire populations if they are let lose in more suburban environments, and have been known to wipe out entire populations of diglet and tangela (and yes, i KNOW you find them annoying, but they are an important part of the ecosystem)

not only that, but once they evolve, congratulations! your town has now become virtually unlivable until the sheer number of gloom in the area has been brought down to make the air breathable again.

by the way, NO, your exotic imported litten will NOT clear them out like pests, it is likely too expensive to walk

Alright so, I have a crackpot fan theory for Jellopocalypse’s Dogs In Love 2. Spoilers below.

So you know Chobin, he’s got an undefined past. By his own admission he is either a super hunky football player (doubt it) or a Gulpin that was transformed by the unhealthy sandals. But we’ve seen other scientist models in the game and they don’t look too different from the guy... relatively. So my theory is that he was once a much more normal looking scientist that got experimented on by Doctor Kaminko.

But despite his sketchy history, we do know that he has a VERY contagious form of the First Person Disease. We also know that when the pokemon get infected by it, it seems to cure itself quickly. Whether that’s because everyone is saying their names, Jolteon weirdness, or if his strain just wears off easily, I’m not sure. But we do know several other people who have it. Most notably are Jovi and the small family that can only say Jovi’s name for unknown reasons.

So here’s my theory, the unofficial timeline of Chobin!

1) Chobin, a reasonably accomplished scientist, successfully works with the main lab to create a robot that can produce completely (or mostly completely) organic offspring. Using the money from this venture he starts his own family with a writer in Oree’s main port city.

2) The First Person Disease spreads throughout Oree and affects Chobin and his family. The Jovi family either goes mad trying to protect Jovi by saying her name and failing, or they get infected with a particularly nasty strain and are stuck saying her name.

3) Chobin teams up with Doctor Kaminko to try and solve this problem but accidentally winds up walking in on him “plucking his Oddish” and is made to wear the Unhealthy Sandals, mutating into his current form. Exit is blamed for this somehow???

4) Chobin’s mind warps and he develops a persona, or is programmed to be, 100% supportive of the doctor and test all his evil (or just weird) experiments.

5) A brief encounter with Wound via radio allows Chobin to develop a small amount of free will which he uses to continue working on Robo Groudon even when the doctor denounces the project.

6) Post-game Chobin leaves to further develop his battling as well as his own personality. It is unknown at this time if he ever recovers enough to see his family again or tell Exit the truth about his father.

OC Pokemon teams tag: AOM

I'm taking an open tag from @kk7-rbs for this one! I chose these for the main AOM players based on vibes and also story potential.

Sid

He doesn't really favor any type, and that shows in his team. He evolved the Sirfetch'd from a Farfetch'd that fought him for an onion, the Goodra from a Goomy he found in the garden (his parents did NOT want him to take it inside), and the Alcremie from a Milcery he caught with the smell of his baking (it's probably a different variant than the one shown but he let it pick out its candy). The Mimikyu showed up when he was cleaning out the attic, and he feels like they have a lot in common actually. Donovan gave him a Galarian Yamask and fully believed it could never be evolved, but Sid figured out how to evolve it anyway. Emma gave him the Froslass when she got a shiny Froslass, and he had to retrain it to be less slappy and bitey.

Donovan

He loves ground and rock types more than anything but those alone are kind of a weak team, so he's diversified. He's a big fan of Pokemon that are Shaped, hence the Shelgon and Gastrodon. Unfortunately he has never met someone who was fooled by the Sudowoodo. The Mudsdale is his hard hitter, the Trevenant is his favorite, and the Sableye he picked up from a cave because it reminded him of Sid (then a small child). Through no fault of its own it got most of Donovan's care and affection (RIP Sid) and is kind of a spoiled brat.

Emma

Her team organizing principle is cuntiness. She picked Sobble as a starter years ago so she could end up with Inteleon. Pheromosa, Tsareena, and Froslass were all pretty easy choices too. She thinks the Machamp is cute and it has a great attitude (smash all opponents). It actually has not given her the most injuries - the Rapidash has, between its pointy horn and its tendency to get into her head with its psychic abilities. She doesn't super discourage this kind of behavior because any Pokemon that can knock her down can doubly do it to her challengers.

Avis

She favors ghost types (she used to have a Trevenant in her main team but she switched it out when she found out Donovan had one). She loves Rillaboom the most, though, because she's had it the longest - she raised it from a Grookey. Her default strategy is to use its size (it's 6' 11") to intimidate most challengers (including Sorian), and then switch to Dhelmise when it gets a little low on health. Anyone who knows their types will assume she has a grass-based team, at which point she can pull out Kommo-o or Grappleoct to surprise them. Gengar and Dragapult also unnerve people, which is fine by her. She hates it when people point it out but she's very kind to her Pokemon and is far more worried about how good of a trainer she is to them than how powerful they are as fighters (pretty powerful).

Sorian

He loves fairy and psychic types and they love him. Obviously the Ninjask is an exception, but he keeps it in his team just in case and because Horatio gave it to him (he still doesn't understand why Horatio thinks it's like him, but okay. It's cute). He often lets the Comfey stay out of its Pokeball and wears it as a flower crown, which Avis finds infuriating (how dare he have a cute Pokemon like that. fucking asshole). People think Avis will be irrationally pissed off by the Hatterene, since it looks kind of like a human woman, but it just looks like that - why would she be mad? Sorian's favorite Pokemon is actually the Togekiss, which likes to snuggle with him when he's alone but retreats as soon as Avis shows up. His most powerful Pokemon in battle are definitely the Claydol and Musharna.

Horatio

Horatio didn't start out trying to bridge as many types as possible, nor to have only dual-type Pokemon, but once he realized it was happening anyway he leaned into it. He started with the Galvantula, which used to ride in his pocket when it was a Joltik, and ended up with Vileplume when his Oddish would not stop accompanying him out of his florist shop. Edith gave him the Swinub he evolved into Piloswine, and Sorian gave him the Deino he evolved into Hydregion because it looked like him (it did). The Aegislash came from a Honedge that tried and failed to blend in with his gardening tools, and the Gallade - which he suspects used to belong to someone else - he found wandering in the woods when he was studying river plants. It has very little self control around people who are rude to him, and it sometimes gets switched out of his team temporarily when it's being moody.

Oh, I don't know if someone's asked this before, but what would Peach's favorite Pokemon of each Type be?

Peach would walk around the lab, trying to decide what’s the top of each type, in a moral dilemma at every turn.

Water? Ok, pretty easy toss up, she has two water type Pokemon by choice, so that’d be a Dreadnaw or a Golisopod, she did the Galar gym circuit with a particularly shy Golisopod who totally destroyed its foe despite the nerves it had, and it really impressed her. She gave it so many opportunities to retire but it was really brave despite being a big wuss haha, still is on the island to this day.

Fire... I mean Torkoal is neat, nothing wrong with a heatmore, she knows Charizard well, handles enough of them. But with Val staring at her, almost reading her mind like some creepy horror movie character? Has to be a vulpix. Or peach is dead haha! How could she betray such a loyal partner by choosing anything else?

Grass. Damn man, so difficult. The greenhouse is rife with Pokemon, all excellent. Oddish started her love, but meganium is one of her actual starters, and bulbasaur! How cute are those. Cherrim, sunflora, bellossom? Dammmmmn difficult choice. She would circle the idea of choosing just one for hours. Perhaps the others would be easier to do first.

Electric, vikavolt, or maybe a magnemite. Cute, small.

Rock...uhhh, onix are beloved. Gigalith are neat too... she has a soft spot for bonsly. But i suppose, based on her work with them, she's got a very hot headed Midnight Lycanroc who works guard duty, and that has to be top of the list for her. purely because of its fiery nature.

Ground, toss up between Donphan and Steelix.

Normal, SO hard to pick theres so many good ones. Stantler or Ursaring if she's real honest with herself.

Fighting, Pangoro are great fun, but Heracross are a firm top fav.

Fairy, Ribombee or Florges for sure, both equally great!

Dragon would beeee...hm. Noivern line, very cool, big personlaities.

Bug. Super tough, loves a bug. Paras hold a special place in her heart.

Ghost. I man she's nervous around ghosts, but Shuppet are very useful, and Phantump are very sweet.

Dark. Shiftree or Tyranitar for sure, she's connected with too many of those to not think of them first when talking dark types.

Psychic, probably Elgyem. Has worked with one for a long time in her personal training time. Has come to love them.

Poison, a family fav typing, she handles so many! Bulbasaur or Roserade come to mind, but damn, Nidos are cool!

Ice. Not a fan, but likes Sneasel a lot! Plus they adapt to warmer climates just fine.

Steel - Scizor or Bronzong for sure!

Flying Crobat, Tropius, Noctowl...how is this so hard to pick just one?!

Aside for her mouth looking oddish(lighting?) during custscene, she's about as derpy and cute as she normally is?

Hairstyles are limited so this is one of her usual hairstyles that don't completely cover her eyes

She looks like a doll? And I may or may not go for a darker green eye color

(edit - I checked her OC's various selves, they all have around the same shade whether painted or acrylic eyes)

Wild Encounters (Day) are Sewaddle, Purrloin, Ledyba, Murkrow, Solrock, Drifloon, Cottonee, Petilil, and Fomantis, with Hisuian Sneasel as a rare encounter

Wild encounters during the night are Spinirak, Lunatone, Oddish, Misdreavus, Stunky, Venipede, Foongus, Phantump, and Fomantis. Regular Sneasel is a rare encounter.

Plum walks in to find Peach flat on the ground and Grey wearing gloves and holding what looks to be a strange looking oddish.

Plum: Uh what happened to Peach?

Grey: Found a weird Oddish mutation in the green house. Wanted to study it. Found out it's part fairy type and wanted to see what effect that had on it's leaves. Turns out they act as a muscle relaxant.

Plum just....getting her phone out from her pocket, taking a little picture of the oddish, making a note, before Grey pops it away in a safe place. He has to scoop Peach up, shes concious but totally useless. He's got her in his big arms, her head on his shoulder, a heavy bag of mucle and bone jelly. She's otherwise fine, breathing, hearts good, everythings ok. Get's her home, tries to get her comfortable, but has other jobs to tend to, its midday, she really chose a bad time to do this. Plum says she'll do her work from home, keep an eye on her.

With Grey gone, she's able to really see how incapable Peach has become, Slowly able to at least move her head a little, but the arms and hands that touched the Oddish are just all jelly. Tested by Plum doing the classic "stop hitting yourself" bit for a good minute while Peach helplessly got angry about it. Will she use this information one day? Maybe.

Peach however has already figured out several useful applications in the labs, and for specific patients, planning ways to utilise the properties. Perhaps she'll wear gloves next time however. At least until she's built up more of a tolerance.

Grey comes home and Peach is half back to normal, but hands still dont work great, pins and needles, she's smashed her fav mug because she couldnt hold it right, super miffed. Plum has already ordered a new one, without saying a word about it. Theyre a heap on the couch. Grey gets dinner on, Plum helps him, peach is fuming, she was going to make pasta that night, whole day was a waste, she can't even take notes about the oddish properties her hands are a mess.

Do they perhaps take advantage of her semi-useless state to cheer her up? Who knows.
