- has only gotten more unhinged ever since he was melted

Thundercracker

- likes to create all sorts of art, experiments a lot, currently into sewing, but who knows what’s next? Felting? Glass art?

- well liked with netizens because of his redemption story and loves the internet

- the bigger simp in the relationship, they got human married for fun in 2016 when gay marriage was legalized

- in charge of PR for everyone, including the Autobots sometimes

Skywarp

- Lives in Jetfire and TCs basement and is messy and loud

- twitch streamer, problematic due to him being kind of dumb (gets tricked by chat a lot)

- tricked Megatron into signing marriage papers because he felt left out when TC got married (and then forgot about this)

- used to live in the attic but was so loud during streaming he was forced to swap with Megatron in the basement

- is actually filthy rich, paid the entire mortgage

- the pets least favorite bot :((

Megatron

- misses fighting in the war but living in the attic is… ok

- edits for Thundercracker when he writes

- all of the pets favorite, no one is happy about this (except Megatron)

- is mostly unknown to the public, is under house arrest because of his war crimes for now. Does not feel too guilty about his crimes

- due to him being unemployed he is the household maid

- on the internet the most, cyberbullies Optimus Prime with alt accounts

- doesn’t know he’s legally married

The Silent Shore, Part II — Split - Ch15 "Silent Service"

“Lost?” I nodded. Her smile grew. “You can speak, love. I won’t tell.” My face flushed with heat, and I gulped, looking away from her face and to the space between us. Huh.  Her arm…there was a tattoo. I’d never seen a tattoo on a woman before. The sailors on the Pontus had them, of course, but nothing quite as intricate as this. It was a depiction of our moons as intertwined crescents with six starbursts arranged in equal distance around them. Surrounding the celestial beings like a halo were ancient runes that I recognized as words from the Old Tongue, though I couldn’t read the what they said.  “Do you want help finding your way back to Katania? Can’t imagine why…” she added, and I jerked my attention away from the tattoo, nodding at her again. She hummed, the corners of her lips toying with the idea of a smile again before she turned away, addressing someone behind her. “If Az asks where I’m at, tell him I’ll be right back.”

Also, I'm sure there will be a Holly and Flo episodes eventually but maybe also something to do with what it's like being a girl/woman in this weird conservative world where I'm pretty sure the second wave feminism and the "swinging 60s" never happened. How it ties with Marissa and all that.

Full disclaimer, I have to read any of the fics written for Shockwave and the kids yet as I've been busy and off Tumblr for a bit for my own mental health lol

But I recently saw a photo of an abandoned carousel in some underground area filled with puddles and it reminded me of that one deleted scene from Detroit: Become Human where the Jerry's make a broken carousel work again for Alice and they all just watched her happily play on it as the world around them crumbled.

And, with that thought, it also reminded me of Shockwave and the kids and I simply HAD to write a small drabble fic of it. Sorry if it isn't accurate for the characters or the story already made, but I hope it's enjoyed regardless :3

And, I hope, with all the angst going on, this fluffy story will satisfy yall a bit XD

Carousel

As the days went by, the situation they all found themselves in was slowly starting to get far too real. It was fun, at first, running around abandoned buildings and scavenging for whatever they could find, spending time with their newly acquired aquatic dad friend who kept them safe and well fed.

But then things started to show up and it scared them. Shockwave tried to avoid the areas with the most floating bodies, the children having seen enough of that (and he hoped they hadn't seen any they would recognise), but every now and then something would float up and startle them. Other times they'd run into bigger problems while scavenging and they had far too many close calls for Shockwave's liking.

They tend to keep themselves entertained, for the most part. Shockwave only occasionally indulged. But, usually, he could simply gently float on the surface of the water and let the kids tire themselves out. However, they've become more quiet lately.

It was hard to tell what caused it. Could be a myriad of things, as listed before, maybe it was finally starting to dawn on them how the situation was far from ideal. Maybe it was the conversation they had with that Orca - Jazz, was it? Shockwave couldn't tell, and it bothered him.

He missed their lively chatter (it still happened, but few and far between). A part of him was starting to wonder if the humans who called him out on the fact that this wasn't normal behaviour for human children were right, a small pang of regret reaching the back of his mind.

But he shook those thoughts away. Now wasn't the time. Nothing about their situation was normal anyway, he was already providing more than enough for them to survive this cruel world.

Shockwave was aggressively pulled out of his drifting thoughts by an ear piercing screech that immediately put him on high alert.

“Guys! Guys! Look!” He heard Skids say. Turning to look at him, he followed where the boy was pointing at.

It looked to be some kind of fair or theme part, it was a little hard to tell. Half of it was submerged, but there were some areas in which the water had receded. Shockwave relaxed once he deemed the situation safe, but still gave a small scrutinising glare at Skids for causing unnecessary concern - which went, of course, completely ignored.

“Oh wow, it looks pretty banged up, huh?” Tc noted, crawling closer to the edge of Shockwave's back to get a better look.

“But there might still be some things left over. You know how much they tend to sell in these places? And now we can just snag them!” Warp argued, already getting excited at the thought.

“Do we really need more useless things to carry around?” Trailbreaker argued, the bag he carried strangely heavier on his back.

“There are other things we could do there.” Skids quickly chimed in. “We could check out some of the games they have.”

“Would there be any still working?”

“Carnival games easy to fix, Soundwave up to the task.”

They all turned to look at Soundwave, seemingly to silently fall into an agreement.

Warp turned to face Shockwave, clasping his hands together as he pleaded. “Can we go there? Pretty pleaaaase?” Before he could even answer, the others had joined them.

He wasn't going to say no. This was the exact type of fun distraction they needed, maybe it would help them go back to their usual, energetic selves. So the theatrics were unnecessary. Still, he couldn't help the small amusement it brought him. He pretended to think it over, as if he didn't already have their answer.

“Hmm, I don't know…”

Those simple words were enough to make them all Start to plead harder, making their eyes as big as possible, throwing promises he knew they'd never actually follow through.

That broke the façade he was trying to play up, causing him to laugh. “Alright, alright. We can go.” The kids erupted into celebratory cheers, hugging each other and jumping on Shockwave's back. “But don't stray so far where I can't reach you, okay?”

They all nodded, but he only had trust in some of them to actually obey his orders.

Regardless, he swam over to the abandoned park and waited until they had slid off of him before crawling over onto land. The ground was still pretty wet, so it made it easier for him to slide around and follow them, keeping himself to the more deeper puddles when possible.

He watched as they all went to different directions with their own, small group. Tc and Warp, always tied to the hip, ran over to some of the stands that still had some prizes hanging. Windcharger and Trailbreaker followed Damus as he ran to play some of the games that didn't require power to work. And Skids and Soundwave went…

Where did they go?

Panic immediately followed the realisation. Shockwave stood up straighter and began to spin his head around in search of the two missing kids. The others didn't seem to have noticed their absence, too enthralled in their own activity.

He was about to start calling when he heard a familiar boisterous voice call from not too far. “Guys! Over here! Come see what me and Soundwave just discovered!”

Immediately, all of the attention was on Skids who had a smile so wide Shockwave was worried he'd hurt himself with it. The others looked at each other briefly before making their way over, Damus hesitating a bit before putting down the fishing rod he held and following the rest.

Shockwave did so as well, to the best of his abilities anyway. The further they went, the tighter the space became and less water reached the surface for him to easily slide around. He wanted to voice his complaint of them going too far, like he had explicitly told them not to before coming here (and really, he thought Warp would have disobeyed first before Soundwave. Skids made sense, but him?) But before he could even think of what to say, Skids noticed his struggle and seemed to remember something.

“Oh, right! Almost forgot.” He jogged over to the mer shark and gently grabbed at one of his fingers to guide him elsewhere. “There's an opening that takes you directly to the area we found. You have to swim underneath some rubble, but it should fit you.”

The boy took him to some dilapidated attraction of the park, it was too broken to tell what it used to be, but it did create an opening that allowed Shockwave to fit through perfectly fine. “Just swim straight ahead and it should take you to the area, we'll meet you there.”

Immediately, Shockwave didn't like that idea, and he didn't need to voice his thoughts for the teen to catch on, his glare doing the job just fine. “It'll be fine, don't worry! It's not that far. Less than a minute, probably less than a second for you since you're so big you'll just have to slide in and out. Besides, there's nothing here, the place is completely barren.”

Shockwave was still unconvinced.

Skids took to pleading. “Please! It'll be quick, I promise you. And worth it too! It's the exact thing we've been needing, and Soundwave put a lot of work on it. I know you don't like leaving us alone for even a second, but give it a chance?”

They stared at each other for a moment, Skids making his eyes as wide and innocent as possible and Shockwave hoping the stubborn teen would dispel this idea with his glare alone.

In the end, Skids guppy eyes were far too powerful even for a great shak such as Shockwave. And the kid was right, wasn't this what he wanted for them to begin with?

He let out a heavy sigh of defeat and reluctantly agreed to it. “Fine. I trust you, but if anything shows up–”

“We don't engage with it and call for you, yes, I know. Now go! Soundwave is waiting!” Skids ushered Shockwave to submerge himself into the large opening with the wave of his hands and only joined back with the others once he could no longer see the large mer.

One relief Shockwave had was that the tunnel formed was large enough that he could easily turn around and pop back out if he heard any of the kids in danger, though it also lacked any proper escape for him as it only had one direction for him to go. Straight ahead or backwards. 

But Skids was right in saying the trip was short, he could already hear the muffled voices of his children. Soon enough, he found himself resurfacing, the lively chatter being the first thing his senses picked up on.

When the children heard the splash of water, they all turned to look towards the source of the noise, their excitement almost blindingly radiat in contrast to the dark, murky room they found themselves in.

The place was closed off by fallen buildings that created a sort of cave around them, plenty of fauna already making its home here. It was fairly empty as well, save for the large, round attraction in the middle of the room. It had horses stuck to poles inside it, a dim pink and gold decorating the whole thing, the paintings that littered it had long since faded and it was hard to tell what it once was.

“Okay, you're here, good.” Skids turned to Soundwave, who was standing next to what looked to be a control panel. “Soundwave, would you do us the honours?”

The other teen nodded, bending down to start pulling at some wires in place of pressing the buttons offered. Warp scoffed, crossing his arms and looking skeptically at his friend. “There's no power here, how in the world are you going to get it to work? I swear, if you brought us all the way here for nothing I–”

Before he could finish his sentence, a blast of music and light echoed loudly around the empty space, causing everyone to flinch back and cover their ears. Shockwave nervously looked around, worried that the loud noise might have attracted some unwanted attention. Once the shock faded, Skids ran up to Soundwave and gestured proudly at the now working carousel.

“Ta-da!”

“Wh…how is this possible!?” Warp questioned, looking at Soundwave for answers, to not only be ignored, but shoved around by the other kids who ran towards the attraction. “Seriously?! Is no one else even a little bit concerned on how this is possible?”

Tc placed a hand over his shoulder, bringing his attention to him. “Warp, just enjoy the miracle. When are we going to get another chance like this?”

Warp could only grumble. Tc was right, they wouldn't, not for a long time. That didn't mean he had to accept it though.

Shockwave watched as they all walked over and picked their favourite horse, Tc and Skids fighting over the same blue one before Trailbreaker broke their fight up and offered his to Tc, walking up to help Damus up and sit with him instead. Shockwave observed the way Soundwave continued to pick at the control panel and looked up at the other children, waiting for their confirmation that they were ready before clicking something and closing the panel. As soon as he did that, the carousel began to slowly move, the horses bobbing up and down in gentle motions, causing the kids to excitedly cheer.

Soundwave stepped on the moving platform while it was still picking up speed and sat on a random horse near Windcharger. Although not as vocal as the others, he was clearly enjoying it.

Shockwave couldn't quite get what was so entertaining about the thing. It was slow, even after it picked up some speed, and the music was painful to the ears. But that didn't quite matter, did it? They were happy, and they were having fun.

It clearly was something they knew about before the tsunami, before their civilization fell apart. A simple joy of life that they missed.

And, in a world dimmed by tragedy and destruction, where at every corner something threatens their very existence, isn't that all they could ask for?

So, in a small moment of peace, Shockwave let himself relax. He bent forward and rested his chin over his crossed arms and watched as his children sang along with the screechy music, bouncing on their fake horses and pretending they were in some high chase in their little imaginary world.

In this dreary reality, even the artificial light of a broken past could make it all worth it.

Sunstorm has been lingering in my brain aaannnd now theyve escaped containment sjfnskvnd

So as relative standard, Sunstorm is a clone of Starscream made by Shockwave. They were presented to TC and Warp as a replacement for Star (Starscream gets rekt and peeps think he's ded for a while), made to be the idealized, perfect weapon. Shockwave had created them really as his beta test for his project of cultivating the next evolution of Cybertronians. He viewed Sunny as a partial success, given that their radioactive spark became an apparent problem quite quickly. Shockwave was still satisfied with their skill, resilience, and behavioral programming. Even when they would occasionally spout some questionable nonsense about Primus when their radiation got a bit high, it was irrelevant and an easily solved problem to Shockwave. Plus, the ridiculous energy output Sunstorm was capable of was a valuable resource to be used as a source of power for the citadel. Saved on quite a bit of energon that way lol. Speaking of energon, they rlly had to be careful when fueling of making sure their radiation was a safe level before hand so they didnt combust lol. If they're optics are red, then that's an easy indicator that they chillin.

Sunstorm very often will "translate" Shockwave to people. Insisting that Shockwave cares in his own way, and that he has the best intentions. Shockwave did kinda programmed em to be specifically loyal to him tho-- Sunstorm very much does not understand why Shockwave is imprisoned later.

They also be plagued by visions from the gods due to their heightened energy signature. Primus and Unicron sound the same to them. Unicron of course took advantage of that and starts rlly getting in their brain and manipulating em hard. I'm sure you can guess what for-

After Shockwave's imprisonment, Sunstorm starts having more trouble keeping their energy levels stable, since the citadel was decommissioned, and the others dont really know the specifics about their condition/how to handle it. Unicron's influence gets worse, and Sunstorm goes to visit Shockwave for advice. Although they aren't in their right mind anymore, so when Shockwave tries to guide them on how to expell their energy safely, they freak out that he doesn't understand. In their frenzy they almost melt Shockwave thru the bars as they're in more of a daze guided by Unicron bein like /dewit/ lol

But guards step in. They try to apprehend Sunstorm buuut they cant touch em. Sunny leaves adn there is a whole arc of that theoretical last season round them and how peeps will end up taking down unicron and Sunstorm gets a good ending.

But I think theyd still visit Shockwave later, be decent friends with Soundwave, and Thundercracker. They'd retain an aversion to Optimus, really not being a fan, much to OP's dismay smh. One quirk of theirs to Starscream that makes him find a bit of a point of conversation to start on. Star would def warm up to em /after/ all that crazed shit (Probs would even get a bit protective tbh).

I wrote down everything we know about our special new character and their mysterious pals on page 707, mostly so I can try and figure out wtf is going on, so I figured I'd post my notes

We’ve seen that Vrissy had unread messages from GC on page 456, so I am assuming this was that conversation since it happened 801 minutes (13.35 hours) ago 

Also worth noting is that she thinks they're "not anyone worth talking to" lol rip

Maybe it’s just because of the inane rambling while their friend isn’t answering but I am getting serious Dave vibes lol The command prompt of page 707 isn’t in parenthesis, so that means were back in the Meat timeline. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was Rose’s species! I really can’t wait for the reveal hehe, look at those claws!

So since ur using ur phone for ur art and stories, what app are u using to make them? And does it cost anything? I would like to know. And does TC-96 use the same thing ur using?

I use Ibispaint X while TC uses Clip Studio Paint. I personally think CSP is better recommended, but it can be a bit overwhelming. I tried out the app and you get an hour or so each day to play around with it for free and oof...it was a lot. Get the one-time purchase and you get all the good quality tools, brushes and assets available.

If you want something free and more beginner friendly, Ibispaint is a good second choice for people just starting out with digital art (specifically for Samsung users, or else I'd suggest Procreate, but thats for Apple). Watch an add and you get all the tools and brushes for 4 hours (it used to be 18 HOURS! :/ I'm still salty they changed that, but once the 4 hours are up you can watch an add again to gain another 4 hours, theres no limit). There are paywals and it's optional to pay the subscription fee for certain tools and filters, however I've personally never had to use them and they aren't really necessary anyway. If you pay it does get rid of the adds though...

But I'm a cheap fuck lol. I don't spend money if I don't have to, I've gotten away with it this far and still make good art without the top notch stuff

The Tale of Bob the Insecticon

So, what is up with the best of bois?

(contains some spoilers for bits of phase 1 IDW1. If you don't care about that or care but care about Bob more, read on!

this is his first appearance!

So, some background.

Bob is an Insecticon. What does that mean in IDW1?

So the Insecticons were a mindless swarm that lived deep underneath the surface of Cybertron, defending the core from threats (just roll with it). However, Decepticon scientists decided to play God (when do they not) and decided to try and clone them into sentient warriors. They managed to have 3 successes and about 3 thousand mutant failures that they then released upon the surface of Cybertron.

Hey, don't worry because at this point Cybertron had already been uninhabited for a while because of the radioactivity (it's a longggg story, don't worry about it!).

Over to Bob.

So, the yellow guy in the chair up there is Sunstreaker. Due to various reasons, he was assumed dead sacrificing himself defending the Autobots from the frenzied Insecticon mob. Obviously, he didn't die. He got repaired by Alpha Trion (at, iirc a resurrected Ironhide's insistence) (...it's a long story). But wasn't quite repaired all the way and was stuck in a wheelchair for a while.

The two of them (Ironhide and Sunstreaker) were tasked with destroying all the insecticons on the surface of Cybertron. And they succeeded with the help of Bob, who Sunstreaker had successfully tamed and saw them as his swarm.

so there's a universe out there where Sunstreaker had an army of Bobs. Alas this was not to be, and we only have the one. But we cherish him deeply.

Bob accompanied Sunstreaker everywhere. He was Sunstreaker's loyal companion even when he was a pariah among the Autobots and in general was a great emotional support pet insecticon.

He even accompanied Sunstreaker onto the Lost Light! And then he stayed on Cybertron with Sunstreaker when the Lost Light came back. He had a bit of a focus in the Hoist spotlight but tbh I'm not a fan of the Bob art in that one lol. He is still best boy though, never fear.

He showed up a few other times afterwards, this is him in Combiner Wars:

He teamed up with the other pets (the cute little robot assistant and Thundercracker's dog) at this big event one time

and he also saved the President of the United States from being eaten by aliens

(the other two characters are Thundercracker and Marissa, neither of them is the President)

Bob is so pure a character that every single writer has agreed upon this. Every. Single. One.

Since it seems like folks are shouting into your inbox about WC and its writing tonight - there's a lot wrong with the series, of course, but what I miss is the POV of a cat who *wanted* to be in the clans *so much* that it meant giving up everything they knew. That POV, of course, being Firestar in TPB (and in a way, some of the cats in DotC). That perspective gave a much more balanced view of the clans' flaws, and it also gave us a character who was willing to fight to change some of the inequitable parts of clan life (at least, given the challenges of that day and age). Firepaw/heart/star was easy to love (and root for as a character) because he loved the clans so much, and not just a love despite the flaws, but love in a way that he was committed to fighting to make them better. The longer he was with TC that changed, of course, but all of the recent POVs have been from cats so steeped in clan life that even the most catastrophic incidents are accepted by the MCs without much resistance. Firestar was radical (both by being a kittypet turned clan leader and in his approach to leadership - moreso early on than later when he became part of that same system). I miss that. But sure, let's have another POV of a cat who is the epitome of upholding the current clan status quo. I'm sure that will bring a diverse viewpoint to conflict resolution and the systemic -isms of the clans (/s of course). Anyway cheers for listening to random people ranting in your askbox, that must be annoying sometimes lol.

i miss the wonder and excitement of the first arc so much ): it's not without it's flaws for sure, but it was just a lot more fun because anything could be happen. i think it's because it was a new world to learn, and by now we know and kinda hate the WC setting. also there were BG characters that had personalities and affected the plot.

also all the villains are boring because they peaked with tigerstar. remember when firestar broke mistyfoot + feather&stormpaw out of prison. what the fuck

I think in terms of numbers they have similar ones tho First had more "main roles" before Not Me than Khao did before TC

he was in the main cast of Blacklist, Wolf and the Shipper and had a fairly big role in Wake Up Ladies the only downside was that he was very typecasted as the comedic character all his roles if we look at it were of the funny goofball his first more dramatic roles were in Not Me and F4 Thailand

Khao on the other hand before TC only played supporting characters My Tee, 2gether, ATOTS, Blacklist and charming step mom small characters that were quite diverse compared to First but had few to them TC did bring him to more light, sadly his role in 55:15 seems very underrated his second hig roles after TC

Going back to what I was saying First had a lot of more main characters compared to Khao so I can see how he was more popular compared, plus he did variety shows too like that one with Bright and Gunsmile and then School Rangers but I feel like he was trying too hard to fit a mold they wanted to cast for him and he was able to break through first with Not Me and then with Khao and the show they did together

this ask became a mess I tried to make a point but got sidetracked lol, last thing I will say is that he seems to feel a lot more confotable now and very proud of his roles and loving working with Khao so people that abbandoned him cuz "he jumped ship" can suck it and watch whatever they want they are the ones losing

I don’t think your ask is a mess at all. I get what you are trying to say.

First’s roles prior to Not Me/F4 always had him in a comedic role, although I will argue The Shipper is more than that. And you are right (with First himself alluding in recent interviews), rookie First was trying very hard to fit in and mold himself into what he thought viewers/fans expect of him.

I think there was an earlier interview (around TE time) where he actually admitted he is an introvert and likes to keep to himself, if possible. In another interview, he even said if it was just him and Khao, the latter is the chattier of the 2.

So, rookie First who always seems so cheerful, energetic and chatty is likely First still trying to find himself.

Got to agree that post-TE, he has truly blossom and become so much more settled in his own skin. Khaotung is the same, albeit in a different way. Like you say anon, these 2 just keeps getting stronger and stronger once they paired up - be it with their acting career or personal growth.

And I think a huge chunk of it is owned to the fact they have each other. They have always been honest in saying how they are each other biggest advocates and fans.

Anyway, I’m seated and cannot wait to see what 2025 (and beyond) will bring for them!!

P/S: I agree with you about 55:15 never too late being super under-rated (I will never stop harping how good it is!! Such a criminal it didn’t get much coverage. Khaotung, Piploy and View were my fav in that show!)
