I will share one of my favorite taekwondo stories from many years ago because I think it is funny. Two different short dads I was sparring with managed to accidentally nail me in the face with the same kick on two different occasions, months apart. (You cannot hit the face in taekwondo but going for a headshot it happens a lot.) The first time miraculously didn't knock out any teeth but my upper lip got stuck in my braces and I had to rip it out while laughing maniacally. I looked like a corpse for weeks. The second time was straight in the nose, so my nose is still slightly crooked and makes a crunchy noise if I wiggle it to this day.

Both of the dads felt terrible but I was a teenage boy so I thought blood on my uniform was cool.

The "short dad curse" was real for a bit there and the only reason it hasn't continued is because I am now the short dad myself.

I got a small notebook to write tasks in, things I've done, what and when I ate, etc. This has been very helpful for memory loss and blackouts.

Don't have one, but one of these days I want to write something more hopeful, something along the lines of a 2010s-era superhero cartoon but as a novel. Don't have a plot for that one yet. It's rotating in my head, though.

One of the best pieces of writing advice I ever heard was "give yourself permission to suck." When you sit down to write you can't be fixated on making it perfect the first time. All your first draft has to do is exist. Anything you write down you can change later, but you gotta get it down first.

She barely made it halfway down to the gallows before something slammed into her, knocking her into the side of the building and shattering a line of windows. The crowd gasped and looked up, and then all Suncatcher could see was shadows and broken glass and the gun someone shoved into her face.

“If you can’t sit back and watch nicely,” Crossfire said, “then you can’t watch at all.”

“Go to hell,” Suncatcher said, and the blades on her forearms snapped out and stabbed into Crossfire’s midsection.

Crossroad Demon

Summary: After a hunt goes wrong. You make a deal to bring back Sam, but to hold up your end of the deal, you have to become the one thing you hate the most. Will Dean and Sam be able to save you?

Chapter Summary: After Y/N’s disappearance, the boys start to search for her, but not before dealing with a few things themselves.

Part 3 - Finding You!

Dean’s POV

“Sammy?”

“Dean?”

Slowly heading towards Sam, my face remains shocked, before I stop altogether. Not truly believing that Sam is there, I look down to the practically empty bottle of whiskey in my hand, before placing it on the War Room table.

“Sam? How?” Rushing towards my brother, wrapping my arms around Sam into a bear hug, I could feel the tears forming in my eyes. Pulling away, I check Sam for any injuries, checking mostly where the Vamps had bit into him around his neck. “How are you alive?” mumbling at Sam.

“I-I don’t know. I woke up in my room. What happened?”

“Vampires. Y/N and me. We couldn’t get to you in time.” Trying to explain as best that I could as I quickly brought Sam into another hug, my heart swelling at the thought of my brother alive. “We brought you back here. Put you in your room.”

“Where’s Y/N?” Looking around for their best friend, noticing the trashed-up library. “What happened over there?”

“Me. I kind of destroyed it. After we put you in your room.”

“What about Y/N? Dean?” Sam looks expectantly at me, waiting for the answer. “Dean, where is she?”

“She, um, she’s gone.”

“W-what do you mean gone?” A questioning look appearing in his eyes, Sam’s concerned features takes over.

“She left, after an argument. I-I guess.”

“Dean! What is wrong with you? You let her leave. Why would you do that?”

“I couldn’t help it. You were dead.”

“Dean, I told you. I told you not to do this. When I was dying in that nest, I told you to not blame her, to not let her leave, to tell her the truth. Why couldn’t you do that?”

“I’m sorry.”

“Sorry doesn’t bring her back here.” Sam says before running a hand over his face, stopping when he reaches his mouth, realising something. “Wait a minute. I was brought back to life, wasn’t I?”

“I-I guess. Why? What are you thinking?”

“If it wasn’t you, Dean.” The realisation finally hits Sam’s head. “What the hell! It was Y/N. wasn’t it. She made a deal.”

“No, no, no. She couldn’t have. She wouldn’t have.” panic sears into my eyes, bringing out concern. “No. No. Don’t say it. Why would she do that?”

“What did you say to her Dean? When you made her leave, what did you say to her?”

“Dammit.” My hands running through my hair, turning my back to Sam. “I-I told her… I told her it was her fault that you were dead.”

“DEAN? You can’t be serious!”

“I was angry, I was grieving your death.” I snap back around to face my brother. “I was just taking it out on the first person I saw. I made her leave Sammy. I did this to her.”

“We have to find her. We have to save her.” Sam said, “I’ll call Cas, see if he’s heard from her or knows anything from Angel radio.”

“Right, I’ll call her again, if they haven’t already dragged her to Hell.” Even the thought of that hit me hard in the chest, breaking my heart. The idea of Y/N being in Hell. I just prayed that she was still on Earth.

TWO MONTHS LATER

“Dean. Jody called something about a nest near Sioux Falls. She needs backup. I told her we would help her.” Sam calls out to me from the War Room, he just entered. A pile of books and pieces of paper scattered the Library table, where I was sitting. My laptop in front of me, as I search for practically anything on Y/N. So far, nothing.

“I’m not giving up on this Sam.” I said as I turned my head towards him. Sam strides towards me grabbing the top of the laptop, before closing it.

“Look man, I never said we’d give up on this. But there’s nothing so far. Every hunter out there will call us if they find anything.” Sam explained, sitting on the table, staring down at me as I lean back in the chair. “Cas will find something on Y/N. We both know that he won’t stop looking until something comes up. But we need this. We need to help Jody. If we continue to sit here, researching, we will never find Y/N. Ever.”

“Sam. You have got to understand that all of this is my fault. I’m the one that sent her away. She could be hurt, tortured, or-o-or dead.” Closing my eyes, the thought of Y/N being dead, breaks my heart.

“We don’t know anything yet. We don’t know for real if Y/N made a deal. Something else might have brought me back. Mayble Crowley. Maybe the Angels - highly unlikely. Or maybe it was God. But Y/N has practically disappeared off the planet. No one knows where she is right now. We can’t do anything to help her if we don’t know where she is. But what we can do, right now, is go kill some vamps.”

“Fine. But if something comes up and we’re not here to see it. It’s your fault.” I say, standing up to go grab my things from my room. Sam quickly puts his hands up in a surrender stance. “We leave in ten.”

Moving swiftly towards my room, I pass Y/N’s room. Her door was shut and for a second I thought I heard movement from behind the door. Grabbing my pistol that was tucked into the back of my jeans, cocking it, I enter her room turning on the light. Empty. Nothing had been touched. Nothing had even been in here since I realised she left. Sighing, I put away my gun, having a quick look around the room before leaving, shutting the door behind me.

Heading to my room, I enter turning on the light, grabbing my duffle bag. Shoving a whole load of weapons and clothes into the bag and zipping it up, I pick it up throwing it over my shoulder before I head to the Garage. Sam was alreading in the Garage, waiting for me. I sighed when I chucked my bag into the trunk of the car.

“Hey man, what took you so long?” Sam said, as he headed for the passenger door.

“Nothing, just choosing what I should take for the hunt.” I wasn’t going to tell him I thought someone was in Y/N’s room.

“Right… well we should get going before Jody decides to take on the vamp nest alone.” Chuckling at the thought Sam gets in Baby.

Getting into the driver side myself, We head out of the bunker, with me driving us to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

After a five hour drive to Sioux Falls, we finally made it. Pulling into Jody’s place, we park up - Jody already waiting for us with a big grin on her face.

“Well look who decided to show up.”

“Hey, Jody!” A smile forming on my face as I got out of Baby to go give Jody a hug. 

Sam does the same thing once I step back.

“You boys ready for the nest?”

“More than ready. So what’s the play?”

“Well, from my guess there are about six vamps in total.”

“Let’s play this smart Jody, we’ll stick together. Have each other’s back. Keep a lookout for more vamps. They might just be hiding in the shadows.” Sam planned out looking at me, we both remembered what happened last time we dealt with Vampires. I am not going through that again.

“You sure you’re up for this Sam? You know, after last time.” I ask him out of concern.

“I’m fine Dean.”

“W-what do you mean after last time?” Jody questioned, her inner-mother concern being brought out.

“It’s nothing Jody, don’t worry about it. Just a hunt that went wrong.” Sam replied.

“Don’t lie to me, Sam Winchester. Spill. Now!” That mother tone would put the fear of God in anyone, and it’s not even directed at me.

“Well… Um… I died. Kind of. But then I was brought back after a friend gave up their life for mine. We think. Anyway.”

“I’m sorry, What?! Am I supposed to understand that nonsense?”

“Basically. Sam was killed by vampires. And then Y/N, um... one of our closest friends. She, uh, she made a deal - at least we think she did - to bring back Sam.” I explained, while Jody’s face fell into shock, mouth wide open at the reveal.

“Wait. You mean Y/N Y/L/N?”

“Yeah? You know her?” Sam asked, head tilted in confusion.

“She saved my life a few times now on hunts. She was a good person.”

“Well, now she’s missing. We think she made a deal to bring back Sam. It’s the only reason we have to believe when Sam came back to life.”

“So, what, she’s in hell?”

“Maybe. We’re not sure. Maybe she got some time before being sent to hell. But if she's still here we have to find her. We’ve been looking for signs, omens. But so far, nothing.” Sam explains.

“I’ll send out some feelers. See if anyone has heard anything.”

“Thanks Jody.”

“It’s no problem. Now what do you say we go kill some Vampires? Huh.” Jody said, pulling out a machete from her car. Before heading over to my Baby.

“Let’s go.” I replied as we all piled into my car before speeding off to the Vampires location.

FIVE MONTHS LATER

Nothing. There is absolutely nothing on Y/N. No one has heard from her. Not Cas. Not Jody. Me and Sam had started to go to many different crossroads, trying to find a demon that would give us a deal. But nothing. It was as if the demons were trying to hide what was really going on.

At our next stop, another crossroad. 

Me and Sam stand in the centre as he places the box in the middle of the road, covering it up. A red-painted demon’s trap surrounded the area, from where we had painted it not minutes beforehand for insurance, before Sam started to recite the spell.

“Not you two.” We hear from behind, turning around quickly  to see the red-eyed demon, clearly not amused.

“Well, you don’t have a choice. We need information.” I tell him, bringing out the demon blade that had resided in my jacket pocket.

“You really think I’m scared of that dinky little thing?” The demon laughed.

“Oh, we know you are!” Sam said, smirking.

“Look. I have nothing. No information on the whereabouts of Miss Y/L/N.”

“Why did you say Miss Y/L/N?” My face etched with confusion, such a strange way to say it for a demon, right?

“Yeah, and how did you know we were talking about her?” Sam asked, taking a step forward towards the demon.

“Well, you have been bothering the other demons at every crossroad you’ve come across. Nasty business that, What else would it be about?”

“Just tell us what we want to know and we’ll let you go.” Sam negotiated.

“Like you did with the other demons? Did you really have to kill them?” The demon said as he started to walk around the demons trap, with us turning our bodies, following his movements.

“Just. Tell. Us.” My teeth clenching together as I spoke the words. The anger within me radiating, losing my patience with this demon.

“I hear that this is all Dean’s fault. Isn’t that right?” The demon laughed.

“How’d you hear that?” Sam asked, while putting a hand on my shoulder to stop me from killing the demon. No matter how much I wanted to tear this demon apart I had to keep it together for Y/N. I knew this was all my fault and I would be damned if I didn’t spend the rest of my pitiful life trying to make it up to Y/N, wherever she is.

“Where do you think?” The demon smiled. A look I just wanted to wipe off of his stupid face. “Hell, of course. From the King himself.”

“What? How the hell does he know?” Sam turned his head towards me, confusion etched into his face.

“He’s the King of Hell. He practically knows everything.” The smug demon is practically asking for death right now as I try to hold back my urges to kill him.

“Where is she?” I growled at the demon.

“Hell.” The demon smirked, me and Sam looked at each other, before turning back to the demon.

“We want to make a deal. Me and Sam for Y/N.”

“No.”

“What do you mean no? It’s the best kind of deal.” Sam asked, confused why any demon would ever refuse an offer like that.

“Because I said so. No Crossroad Demon will ever make a deal with the likes of you. Not after what you guys have done to the other demons.”

“Fine. We’ll do this the hard way.” I said, stepping forward towards the demon, raising the demon knife as he stepped backwards with his hands raised.

“Woah, hold on. Let’s talk about this.”

“No, the time for making a deal is over. You had your chance. Now we do it my way.” Me and Sam quickly grab the demon by the arms, before placing the demon handcuffs on him.

“Ok. Ok. Wait. I’ll tell you what. I’ll give you her next location.”

“Her next location? What’s that supposed to mean?” Sam questioned.

“You don’t know, do you Winchester-scum?” The demon laughed, as I raised the knife to his throat. His laugh quickly subsided as he realised his predicament.

“Tell us now! What do you mean?” I practically shouted in his face.

“Well now, this is quite enjoyable. But I’m not going to tell you anything until I know that I will be getting out of this situation alive.” The demon bargained, smirking at his proposition.

“Fine. You’ll live, if you tell us what you mean.”

“I made the deal with her. To bring back Sam.” The demon started, smiling as he turned to look at Sam. “Crowley didn’t just want her soul in Hell.”

“Then what did he want?” Sam asked. I keep the knife close to the demon’s neck, putting a slight pressure on it, forcing the demon to speak.

“You have got to know that Crowley always gets what he wants.” He smiled, reminiscing about the deal he made with her all those months ago. “She’s a demon.”

“What?!” Me and Sam say at the same time. Shock clearly hitting us both.

“Not just any demon, you know. She’s the best. Crowley’s favourite.”

“No. No, I don’t believe you. She would never accept a deal like that.” I said, pushing the knife deeper against his skin, letting some of the blood drip down.”

“Hey now, hold your horses. She chose this. I didn’t make her say yes. I didn’t make her seal the deal. That was all her.”

“Tell the truth!” I shouted at him, anger radiated through me.

“Dean. Wait. We need to know where she’s going to be.” Sam tried desperately to calm me. His hand on my shoulder to tell me to let the pressure off of the demon's neck.

“Yes. You do. I know where she will be next.”

“Start talking now. Where?” Still holding the knife to the neck, slighting, but not putting too much pressure on it, I wait for the demon to squeal.

“Abbotsford, W-W-Winsconsin… Now let me go!”

“Fine, we’ll let you go. Back to Hell. Sam, start the exorcism.” Moving the knife away from the demon, I put the knife back into my jacket pocket waiting for Sam to start the exorcism.

“What?! No, you said you would let me go…” The demon looked from Sam to me to then back to Sam, as he realised how royally screwed he was.

“Yeah we did. And now we are letting you back to Hell. Sam?”

“Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas omnis incursio infernalis adversarii...” Sam started.

“Oh, Come On!!” The demon shouted in annoyance.

“...Omnis legio! Omnis con... potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii. Omnis legio! Omnis congregatio et secta diabolica! Ergo, Draco maledicte et omnis......legio diabolica, adiuramus te!...”

The Demon’s body starts to twitch involuntarily at the exorcism, causing him to scream out at the power of the words.

“...Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii. Omnis legio! Omnis congregatio et secta diabolica! Ergo, Draco maledicte et omnis legio diabolica, adiuramus te!”

As Sam finishes the exorcism, red smoke flows out of the demon’s vessel before hitting the ground in a fiery motion, letting us know that the demon has been expelled to Hell.

“Now what?” I ask, looking down at the vessel, damn he didn’t survive, I move swiftly to go pick up the body that was left behind as Sam follows my lead. We lift the body heading straight for the ditch close by where we would bury and burn the body before taking back the handcuffs we placed on him earlier.

“We go to Winsconsin. Let’s get our friend back.” Sam replies, a smile on his face, mine mirroring, finally we were going to get Y/N back.

New Yandere, Whump, and Dark Shipping Blog: Requests FAQ

Hey! So before I start writing and creating, I thought I'd get some common questions answered and out of the way! If you are concerned about your request or are unsure of its content, please first check this post before directly messaging me.

Request Content

Q: What kinds of requests do you fill?

A: I will fill almost any type of request! But here are some specific options with set structures and examples.

Headcanon Requests (bulleted, length depending on ask, ex: "Can I get headcanons for Requested Character with a short girlfriend?")

Scenario Requests (bulleted, LDOA, ex: "Can I get a scenario for if Requested Ship were getting married?")

Drabble Requests (prose, LDOA, ex: "Can I request a drabble about RC being worried when their darling is sick?")

Playlist Requests (list of songs, 1-5 song limit, ex: "Do you have 4 songs for a jealous RC?")

Graphic Requests (edit style, 1-4 images, ex: "Could you make a graphic for yandere RC with this item or quote?")

Aesthetic Requests (moodboard style, image with 6-9 sections, ex: "Can I get an aesthetic for dark!RS?")

Prompt Requests (list of brainstormed dialogue and short sentences, LDOA, ex: "Do you have dialogue prompts for RC kidnapping their darling?")

Requests that don't specify will be answered with a bulleted list or possibly a short paragraph. There may be times I'm willing to fill some requests but not others due to time constraints, but that doesn't mean I won't ever fill them!

Fandom requests involving AUs and crossovers are welcome (ex: "Headcanons of how yandere Naruto in a wild west AU?" or "Headcanons about what would happen if yandere Ten and yandere Crowley fell for the same person?"), as are original requests based on existing media (ex: "Can I get headcanons about a popular girl type who has a Breakfast Club experience and ends up going yandere for the criminal?" or "Can you write a drabble about a yandere whose story is like this music video?").

Q: What characters do you write for?

A: I'll write for any character that I am familiar with, with a few exceptions for characters I'm aware of but uncomfortable with. To get started, here's a list of fandoms that I have a solid handle on!

As I implied above, I am also happy to write for original characters. Whether that means you telling me about your own OCs, or me creating my own characters for you down the line, either is great.

I will NOT be writing RPF or RPS. I do not approve of real person shipping and real person fiction makes me uncomfortable - if that's what you're looking for, there are a huge number of other blogs that will cater to your needs directly. Which leads me into...

Prohibited Requests, and Non-Yandere Content

Q: Will you fill every request you get?

A: I'll fill requests that interest me and that I feel comfortable posting, and that will probably be most of them! I am really excited to get started. But I still reserve the right to refuse a prompt - I'm writing for free, so no one is entitled to have their ask filled. If I choose to deny your prompt, I will answer privately and, if the issue is with content, update the blog so it's made clear that the type of prompt is not taken.

Q: What is and isn't allowed to be requested?

A: To be honest, most stuff is allowed and some stuff isn't. There's a lot of ground to cover here, so I've divided it based on the nature of the concern.

Q: Do you accept NSFW/SFW requests?

A: I'll do NS and SFW work, but I've got more experience with SFW content. This doesn't mean I do it exclusively, just that I won't think to go NS unless you mention it. Specify for NS and it'll be included happily!

Q: Do you accept violent requests?

Violence against non-SO characters and dub-con is okay always, as is situational or over-the-top violence, even murder, involving SOs (ex: "the yandere and their darling are soldiers on opposite sides of the war" or "the yandere saws off their darling's legs so they have to carry them everywhere").

However, there is some tricky area with violent fantasies. If I think the content strays too close to serious physical domestic abuse, then I'll likely deny the request. This is partially why I prefer requests that get violent to focus on non-SO targets, so if it doesn't matter to you, that's almost guaranteed to get a response.

Non-con I can mention and discuss in headcanon posts and possibly prompt lists, but I will not be writing drabbles or scenarios for non-con prompts.

Q: Do you accept kink requests?

A: It will depend on the type and whether I feel morally and psychologically comfortable with it. For example, hypnosis, size kink, gender stuffing, BDSM, roleplay, etc., are all currently accepted because they don't seem to affect me in a negative way. I am willing to do ships for cousins and step family, as well. However, I will not under any circumstances deal with r*ceplay, p*dophilia, fetishizing of trans people or people of color, or inc*stplay, and I will not be doing ship work for anyone more closely related than cousins, including but not limited to siblings, parents (blood or adopted), or aunts and uncles. None of this is negotiable. I am willing to consider AUs where two characters aren't family, or non romantic yandere behavior between family, but even then, the request's on thin ice. Anything super unhygienic or illness related is probably something I won't be interested in not as a rule or for moral reasons but just because it can exacerbate my anxiety and OCD. I also do not fill prompts related to minors at all, be it explicit/adult/sexual content or otherwise. Requests for characters who are minors will have them aged up unless otherwise specified - in which case you will promptly be blocked.

Q: Can I request a dark imagine that is not yandere related?

A: Of course! Just make sure to be specific about what you want from it.

Q: Can I request a ship or character imagine that isn't yandere or dark?

A: Yes, though I won't promise it'll be what you're looking for. I fall towards horror, thriller, and angst when I write, regardless of my intentions.

Q: Can I request something that's not ship or character imagine related?

A: Sure, I'd be honored, but again, I don't promise to fulfill every request. This blog is intended to be stress relief, self indulgence.

How to Make a Request

Q: How do I contact you for requests?

A: Asks, messages, replies on my original posts, and even more casual things like tagging me in yandere or writing related posts are all great ways to interact with me!

Q: When do you accept requests?

A: Requests will be opened or closed depending on how busy I am and whether I'm caught up on them.

Currently, requests are closed. However, I've decided that requests are reopened on my days off. The days should be listed in my bio.

Q: Do you accept anonymous requests?

A: Yes, I do! I also will not publish asks from users unless the user specifically clarifies that they are okay with it, just in case the user sent the ask from their blog on accident. User asks that aren't specified as safe to publish will be responded to privately when the request is filled.

Q: How will I know my request is filled?

A: As stated above, anonymous asks and user asks clarified as safe to publish will be published with a response. User asks without any clarification will be responded to privately. Anonymous asks asking for privacy for any reason will not be published. Messages will also get a reply. Users who send requests that are kept private will not be tagged unless you ask me to. Users with published asks will always be tagged in the final post, but it is totally okay to ask me to change or erase the tag! Other than this, checking for posts is up to the requester.

Other Kinds of Interaction

Q: Is there anyone who you don't want interacting with your blog?

A: Anyone complicit in nazism, racism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, xenophobia, pedophilia/MAPs, or any other politicized violence against a people is uneqivocally not welcome to engage with my work. I also have a zero tolerance policy for true crime fans who support or absolve serial killers. Please respect this - anyone who doesn't will be blocked. Anyone who pushes the issue will be reported.

Q: What about kink or otherkin blogs?

A: Honestly, I don't know much about either community. As of now, I'm fine with interaction. I'd ask that I not receive any kin related requests, because I am not familiar with the concept, community, and issues accompanying. Kinks can be requested but as stated above, are not guaranteed to be filled. Please don't bring discourse or discourse related requests here. I am not equipped to or interested in getting involved. If that changes, I have a main and other side blogs. This blog will never be a place for it.

Q: Are you okay if we interact with you or send you asks and messages that aren't requests?

A: Absolutely! I would love to talk with you. I am always interested in discussing any of the topics covered on this blog, or anything else for that matter! I pride myself on trying to be not just nice, but kind, and hopefully that comes through in every interaction. However, I'll expect the same courtesy from anyone who'd reach out to me, or use my posts to communicate to others for that matter. Anyone who doesn't will be, you guessed it, blocked. Anyone who pursues it further, yeah, will be reported.

Q: You have a lot of rules about requests and interaction, but you don't seem to post much and you aren't very active. Is this all just awkward and formal overkill, or is there a point?

A: I've explained all of this clearly, in as an accessible way as I can think of, because I want to eliminate the potential for drama, confusion, and other misunderstandings.

Online communities tend to be chock-full of plenty and I do not, nor does anyone who visits, need another reason to be tired. I'm not detailing all of this upfront because I expect to be very popular, or because I like listening to myself talk for paragraphs on end. I don't want a theoretical lack of information to be used to hurt either myself or others, though some of it shouldn't have to be spelled out in the first place.

But considering how ridiculously easy it is to misinterpret each other online, and how much of a disadvantage neuroatypical people like myself are when things are left just implicit rather than made what you could argue as exhaustingly explicit, I figured a crazy FAQ was a small price to pay for a peaceful environment.

TLDR: it certainly might be overkill, but that doesn't mean there is no point to it.

Q: What should requesters and followers call you anyways?

A: I'm fine with my username. If you're going for a different vibe, Red or Darlings sounds nice too. If you can come up with something catchier, feel free to try!

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?  Look, I just... 2019 was a wash in so many ways. I played a lot of Fortnite really badly. I would have loved to be able to say Shadow to Light was finished, or that I was posting Hybrid regularly or something, but I can’t. I wish, wish, wish I had posted more but alas. 

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? Outside of Twilight, I dabbled with some reader/Ben in the Umbrella Academy, and I was messing around with some Janet/Wanda in my personal MCU canon. As for Twilight, I think my stuff got a lot darker? Like, we’re down the rabbit hole here, and somehow Alice ended up being the most feared vampire in the Americas? Yeah. 

And there’s the Avengers/Twilight fic that is simultaneously three fics and one fic because I cannot make Executive Decisions and I can’t decide if I like 1. Alice knowing Bucky from Before Jasper; 2. Alice knowing Hawkeye from when he was a kid in the circus and being how Natasha and Clint got out of Budapest, or 3. the Volturi hooking up with Hydra and ... yeah, I think this one is legit the most second-most one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever written. (I’ve been filing today, and boy howdy have I written some actual shit.)

What’s your own favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? That’s like making me pick a favourite child. I’m always so, so proud of Shadow to Light, and I love The Dark and the Unknown ‘verse, and Hybrid is just hanging out there, chilling and ugh. My babies <3 

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?  TwilightFicMas was a huge risk! I wasn’t sure anyone cared unless I was posting more Shadow to Light, and people were SO nice and enthusiastic. So I guess the lesson is shut up and share more fic? Get out of your own head and spend time in the community because fandom isn’t meant to be lonely?

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?  I’m starting a graphic design business AND my masters in design in 2020, so I figure fic is going to be my downtime next year. Ideally, I would love to get STL finished, Memento Vivere’s sequel going, and have a few of my shorter pieces posted. I would really love to get some of my original stuff ready for publication, but I’d be happy studying, running my business, and doing the fic thing for 2020.  

My best story of this year: That’s up to the readers, I guess. Everyone seemed obscenely enthusiastic about The Unexpected Second Life of Mary Alice Brandon, though, and I was not expecting that at all - I was actually upset that I left the ‘dud’ fic for the last day of FicMas. 

My most popular story: Shadow to Light. Everyone is so nice and enthusiastic and polite about that one. I’m not used to it! Fandom for me is usually me sitting in a corner, doin’ my obscure thing, and maybe one or two people will read what I’m working on.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:  I think everyone was super enthusiastic and nice about everything I posted this year. Maybe Folie A Deux? But like, that reflects more on me and the excerpts that I chose to post rather than the fic or the audience itself. 

Most fun story to write:  The Unexpected Second Life of Mary Alice Brandon because that Alice is so happy; I have this playlist for it that is super upbeat and funky. 

Hybrid is fun because that Alice likes to torment Jasper. He understands Edward on a molecular level once Alice arrives. 

Most Sexy Story: The Dark and the Unknown is the front-runner for that, because most of the sexy goings-on in Shadow to Light is very much focused on the psychological and emotional aspects rather than the physical.

Story with the single sexiest moment:  The Dark and the Unknown. I am still deeply uncomfortable writing sex scenes, so this may be the only one I ever do. The implication of a blow job in Shadow to Light nearly kill me tbh.

The forest behind the school is silent; just her breathing, and the slight wind. No birds or wildlife, none of the hum of the traffic or of the school.

They don’t undress more than necessary, her skirt slid to her hips, and he takes her roughly against a tree, flakes of bark falling into the dirt. She is hot and slick, and silent as he fucks her, his fingers digging into her hips, a growl rising in his chest. She is every bit his fantasy; the smell of damp flowers, the sweetness of her flesh, her willing supplication. His fingers tear through the lace of her tights as he grips her thighs, and the heels of her shoes must be bending, she’s digging them into the backs of his legs so hard.

Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:  The Long Way Around makes Jasper and Alice’s relationship pretty fucked up, and tbh I look back at it and really struggle with how dark it is and how dark Jasper’s character becomes. There’s a reason that Shadow to Light is the ‘official’ version - it’s a better balance, and I actually think Maria is a lot more interesting in Shadow to Light as a villain with complex relationships with both Jasper and Alice to the point where none of them really want to have to kill each other, but there is a lot of hate on both sides. 

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:  That’s a hard question. Shadow to Light definitely did that because I had to consider what happened when you took Alice out of the picture, and how that changed what happened, and considered the inter-family relationships. So much of canon relies on Alice’s visions that things can’t just happen the same way. 

Hardest story to write: Shadow to Light isn’t easy because I have such a specific idea of how it plays out, how it ‘looks’ in my head, and because Alice is so fundamentally different to canon. More innocent when it comes to normal interactions, and so controlled because it meant life or death - but she’s still got to be Alice in a way that people can recognize. It also has to sound right? If I can’t get the right turn of phrase for one scene, it has to be put aside until I can work it out. 

 All These Broken Things is hard because I started it back in, like, 2014ish and my writing and understanding of the characters and canon has changed so much - plus there are a few sections that came to me quite early in the writing, and now sound really out of place, but are such a strong linchpin for the story that I have to rework them in. It’s a good kind of hard, though, because I’ve improved so much, my ideas and goals are more refined. 

Most disappointing:  Omens is a little bitch, honestly. I started it for a fic contest and kept going to explore Alice’s human life, and it doesn’t quite feel like my writing? It needs reworking, and be a little less obvious because I think the ‘four horsemen of the apocalypse’ is a good theme for a Human!Alice fic. 

Easiest story to write: Depends on my mood; Hybrid is great when I’m in kind of a ‘girls kicking ass’ mood and boot up my action girls playlist.

Biggest surprise:  Hybrid started as a love story that was basically ‘yeah, let’s make this shit super dramatic and overwrought’, and turned into this actual story with a huge focus on family and relationships. I can’t remember why I decided Alice’s father had a husband except that I was thinking about small town ‘otherness’, and LGBT+ people can and are still considered ‘other’ in these spaces. 

Then you add in Alice and Cynthia who are basically in the same boat but have been separated for their entire lives. Alice has knowledge in her corner, whilst having to fight through foster care, abuse, and hospital; whilst Cynthia has lived a very normal but privileged life as the daughter of a mixed-race same-sex couple in a very small town. I went full-hog with this, and added in an extended family, because I really hated how canon went balls-to-the-wall to isolate Bella from everyone, including Charlie. 

Like, this thing is a monster, and whilst I plan to sit down and rewrite the outline (which dates back to 2016, and I hate the ending of), I stopped outlining at 65 freaking chapters. 

Most unintentionally telling story:  I think this question that still confuses me finally gets a decent answer in The Dark and the Unknown - Jasper is seeing most of it from his perspective, and there isn’t a ton of dialogue. I’ve tried to avoid an info-dump, but it’s meant to be quite supernatural in tone, and focusing on vampire senses and gifts enhances that. 

Story I’d like to revise:  All These Broken Things wins that one. Due to the age of the piece, there are some pacing and tone issues in later chapters that are the reason I haven’t formally posted it. 

Story I didn’t write but will at some point, I swear: Oh man, I really want to finish A Thousand Years of Solitude, which is a Tanya fic. I’m really happy with what I’ve got so far, but it sounds smarter and more layered than it really is, so I’m kind of stuck. 

Mad World because Romani!Alice is super sassy and taking 0% of Swan or Cullen bullshit - I think 90% of my fic is just me going, “yeah, that’s not how normal people react.” And I’m a sucker for gothic horror. 

What else? Aww, Against A Wall which is AU Human Jasper coming from the shittiest home, and Alice finding him. It’s meant to be short, and another one I have a really clear idea of how it needs to work. 

And the one where Alice’s gift is a sentient power that pushes her to follow it; that Bad Things happen if she doesn’t; that Renesmee was always Endgame for Something, and Alice was a key piece to get that result. Or the one where Aro takes Alice as a ‘guest’ for a period because of Edward and Bella, and Alice’s gift is basically broken. 

Good times. I have like 5 years of fic on this computer, we could be here for awhile.

5 things I’ve always wanted to do in life: Sleep all day, play all night, travel the world, learn at least one new language, and be productive. Some of these things contradict the others on this list...

5 things people may not know about me: I’m a huge history buff and I like to learn as much as I can about history from different points of view. There are about 4 boxes of plush toys in my permanent home and at least 1 more still in the basement. I was a “Sherlockian” before the BBC show came out, and to this day I still prefer the Granada series. I started my love of Transformers and Pokemon roughly around the same time, and they’ve stuck ever since. Speaking of which, I have 2 other blogs: @thatcleffa (Pokemon) and @djblasterblastinrightatya (Transformers, but also just robots in general).

Y - Your favorite food: I can’t really choose one because if I eat too much of one thing I get sick of it. Oreos, Nutella, and lava cake are currently at the top there.

1. What can’t you sleep without? I sleep a lot easier with at least one plush to hug. 2. What are your favorite kind of socks? I have one pair with cute little Pikachus all over them and another pair with cute little sheep all over them. I try not to wear them when I have to walk a lot so they don’t get holes. 3. What’s your favorite snack/meal/drink? I really like soup... like a lot. Especially if there’s a lot of noodles and meat. It’s generally my go-to if I need a pick-me-up or can’t find anything appetizing on a menu. 4. What’s your favorite kind of weather? Sunny and warm with a hint of a breeze. 5. What do you like to listen to/do to relax and feel better when you’re upset? Get something warm (like soup), and get cuddly in bed with my plushies. Also some Youtube. 6. What’s your favorite store to shop at? Book stores. 7. What color do you wear the most? Red and occasionally dark green. And a surprisingly large amount of black. 8. What’s your favorite (video/board/social/party) game to play? Pokemon.  9. Any guilty pleasures? “One Night in Bangkok”. The song is from the concept album/play Chess, and the song is about an American chess player being a douche in Bangkok. I don’t think we’re supposed to sympathize with him, but it can be pretty cringe-y. It’s very catchy and it’s terrible. 10. If you could go anywhere (in real life or in fiction), where would it be? It would be so rad to go to Destiny Islands from Kingdom Hearts. Preferably as a kid. idk, my current age on an island of kids would be weird.
