please help i just had a dream where svsss was a dating sim. so, of course i tried pursuing shen qingqiu, but it ultimately backfired because suddenly he realized that he was in a dating visual novel?? and since i put myself as a guy, he just refused to show up to special in game events to avoid me interacting with him???

and obviously i was like "wtf why isn't he here?" when he didn't show up. then at some point i explored the area, and the screen suddenly zoomed in to show sqq talking to sqh (supposedly telling him all about the little situation). next thing i know, both of them are slowly turning their head to stare at the screen in pure and utter terror

also in some part of the dream, i think i did some liu qingge events or something and as his affection levels rose, he would continuously jump scare me by popping up out of nowhere and go, "its not like i like you or anything!!" while covered in blood and holding out a demonic beast head as if it were a box of treats

anyways, totally random question guys haha if i made an svsss visual novel dating sim would you guys play it. no reason in particular at all.

To Walk A Mile In Each Other's Shoes: The Boat Boys

Summary: The soulbonds have consequences, and for some they are more welcome than others. Etho & Joel Edition

General Note: I'm posting these as separate one-shot style posts for each soulbond pair. They are all written but I have them queued up and spaced out. All posted will be on this blog under the tag "to walk a mile in each others shoes," linked at the bottom of the other posted ones, and also on my AO3, which is linked on my pinned post.

Etho had known who his soulmate was immediately, the taunting question marks lingering on the Player interface rendered pointless. He'd felt it as soon as the bond settled into place, a claim deeper and older than this fresh new connection. His soul an interloper, a potential threat.

And there is only one Player on this server who belongs to one of his kind.

(Well, two, but he knows for a fact that this isn't BDubs. This connection is an addition, not an overlay.)

He'd sent an acknowledgement to the coiling thread of primordial essence. A declaration of intent, a respectful concession to a prior claim, a promise to release the bond when its time was up. ShadowLady's consciousness withdrew, a faint acknowledgement echoing back, tinged with amusement and a distant warning. A threat if he did not treat the soul he is being entrusted with gently.

Etho resigns himself to a Game filled with the sensation of being watched. (Well, more than these Games usually have.)

And then he actually encounters Joel and the bond is "discovered" and acknowledged and the proper connection is forged. One that goes deeper than a simple health-bar. He will freely admit to being surprised at what he finds there.

Is it any wonder that SmallishBeans has a reputation in these Games for Madness, when the very foundations of his code are a burning loyalty he'd never had a focus for?

And he's clever too, it only takes one glance for him to realize that one of Etho's eyes should not be looked into, and it isn't the one most people assume.

Etho pokes at the odd little antennae he's sprouted and explores the way his canines have changed shape without his say-so and huffs a silent laugh. He thinks this partnership will work out just fine. Even if it feels weird to be connected to someone other than BDubs.

The soulbond snaps into place as his eyes meet Etho's and Joel almost laughs. Well that answers that question. He wonders if it would be ethical to use his new knowledge to his advantage on the Hub World betting boards, he knows at least two set up with stakes on the true nature of Ethoslab.

Eh, s'not like he'd ever be able to collect.

Either way, he knows what it feels like to have his soul touch a shard of the Universe. (It isn't a lot but its weird that its happened twice.) And despite Etho's apparent reluctance, Joel grins and declares forever and always. Faint through a muffled connection that is distant but never truly gone, he feels a sensation of mischief and delight and sends an agreement back. This kind of thing is very rarely truly temporary. He wonders what side effects he'll get this time.

(He doesn't have to wonder long, they die and respawn and in the in-between, the nothingness is replaced by wheeling stars and a sense of coming home.)

...and I’m just now posting art for it, haha, oops. :’) As I said, I’ve had a few things going on IRL that have needed my attention (and I’ll be posting about the biggest of those things quite soon). This big ol’ RL event is still in-progress, so not as much headway as I’d like has been made with Part Five - Martyr, but rest assured that it is still on the horizon. Also a hell of a Q&A backlog.

Can’t make a whole fic out of this one cut scene (well yes I can but I’m very busy rn) but for my AU I’m just picturing a scenario between SMM and Don where Don is still on bad terms with Joe and doesn’t know how to fix it. He’s more annoyed than actually upset, with basically no remorse for his actions.

He doesn’t treat Joe with the respect of an equal (clearly) and— being a fellow monster, he asks how he keeps “his human” (dragon chan (his BOYFRIEND)) “in line”.

Oh boy does that set Macho off.

He is geniunely upset because he loves him and that’s why they’re together?? Like

“He’s mine, but he’s not mine.”

The fact that Don viewed Joe as more of a pet than a friend becomes very apparent to Macho. And that is very eye opening for him.

Don views all monster-human relationships that way, and the fact that he would ever think of him and Dragon that way made him sick.

Macho is rightfully pissed off and tells Don that… you know… that’s his problem. Joe obviously figured that out in some capacity and doesn’t like being treated that way.

Don blows him off at first, but once he sits and thinks about it for a while, the gravity of how he’s been treating him all this time sets in. He goes into a full on panic.

also sorry if you don’t want to be tagged in this @oohbuggypie since it’s not a whole fic or anything but I know you were curious about everything that happened between Joe and Don in my fic so here’s a lil insight 👁️👁️

He finds out and is absolutely devastated. Does not know how to handle this at all. Sure he's furious at stede and wants nothing to do with him. But Stede dead? That can't be

He overhears someone mentioning stede's dead and the above happens. Intially he just hears he's dead and doesn't know what happened. Later he hears he was mauled be a jungle cat and is distraught. But then he hears Stede was run over by a carriage? And then he hears he was crushed by a piano? Turns out it was all 3?? He was also very ill??

i actually had a third scenario but I forgot

they could also hear abt stedes death together after the reunion. And Ed will be so proud of stedes fuckery

Someone remind me to write a fic where Judar and Alibaba are engaged and Alibaba kind of forgets that he has older brothers so Ahbmad and Sabhmad show up for the wedding a couple days before and Alibaba is desperately trying to hide the fact that he's getting married to a man because he's not sure if they're homophobic or not and by the end when all is revealed they're both just like "dude, you could've just told us, we're happy for you either way :)" and yay happy sibling bonding time :D

this one is so special but so hard to do justice. i've talked about this before in an old ask game, but you know me, i always love a chance to scream about these two. after going out to dinner together, they are just going on a stroll through raccoon park, hand in hand, because diana loves the woodland path. and yes, she did get distracted at one point by a little lizard

when they are heading back over the bridge at the pond, diana notices him fiddling with something in his pocket with the hand not holding hers, but she doesn't think much on it, or how distracted he seems. but when they are heading through the plaza, and she's ready to head out the gate and back to his car, he pulls her over to one of the benches and sits down, so she quickly follows suit, and that's when she realises he's nervous, of all things. not nervous as in how you'd expect someone to be, but still off, which she can easily recognise at this point

he unlaces his fingers from hers to actually hold her hand in both of his, then he chuckles, shakes his head, then looks out at the park. the silence is always comfortable with them, and diana begins to look around too, until he begins to talk

"i never thought i would do this with anyone, but i have been thinking quite a bit recently" she looks over at him and he turns to fully face her "and i would like to call you my wife" her eyes widen more than he's ever seen and he brushes his thumb over the back of her hand as his other hand reaches into his pocket

he makes a quiet off-hand joke of if she'd do him "the honours" just to bring a small smile to her face and hopefully ease her nerves, before he brings the ring he had spent months designing specifically for her in between them, and he doesn't ask her to marry him, but he asks her if she would spend the rest of her life with him, because it's not even about marriage, or ever having a wedding, it's a promise of his devotion and commitment to her, and they can leave it at that. she looks down at the ring with wide eyes yet with this rather blank stare, and he wonders if this was too sudden, and the silence does become uncomfortable at that point

"i know you have your reservations towards marriage, but i promise you a ring will not change things between us. it certainly won't change the way i feel about you"

there is something here alluding to what happened with her ex-husband, so that makes me sad. after a moment, diana does say yes, of course, and he slips the ring on her finger, then she runs her finger over the stones while admitting it makes her uneasy, to which he says he's aware, but she goes on to talk about their connection and how she thinks this time may be different for her, and he jokes that he sure hopes so, because he doesn't wish to die by her hand

so, they joke about the demise of the last one, and how she could never pull something like that on him because of how perceptive he is, before it turns serious again, and it's her turn to leave him speechless, bringing up a conversation they had months prior

"...that is the only explanation for how your soul seems to know mine so well. i have never loved anyone but you, i will never love anyone but you. i swear it"

so there's lots of little kisses and thanking the fact that no one is around to see them, or to hear the way they just implicated her, then he tells her he never really thought much of marriage or saw the appeal in it, but he would like it with her, and there is the possessive aspect that she is his (he skipped a vital step here. you could've called her your girlfriend bestie, but that's cool i guess). but it's in this moment that he calls her his equal, and says he regards her as such when no one else has proved worthy

there is more to this, such as him being very dramatic and making diana all flustered again for a moment before they kiss and she starts laughing midway through it, and he pulls back to ask her what's so funny. she calls him a sap, earning a glare from him, but it's all really just soft. i have the whole outline of this done, but writing it is way harder to get across the feelings involved with it all
