I JUST SAW THE HAIKYUU MOVIEEEEEEEEE AND IT IS EVERYTHING TO ME. 🏐⚡️
It is under 90 minutes of about shrimp-colors’ worth of emotion and the only, only thing I wanted to do when it ended was walk out and immediately buy another ticket to watch it again.
I know, I know, I have more to say that I’ll put on my anime blog. But I wanted to share here that I was thinking about this in the theater and one of the reasons I loved this movie so so so so much is the exact same reason I loved the 2018 Chicagoland race. Kyle Busch won that race after outdueling Kyle Larson in an intense series of closing laps. Even coming in second (and getting roughed up along the way), the pure JOY on his face when he went to congratulate KyBu was electrifying, because you want to win, yes, but you really want to race. And if you win, you want it to be against the best, at their best; you want it to be the best race that has ever raced.
