As someone who has accidentally slept for 23 hours straight and literally has a nickname as “snooze” I’m obligated to do this (I tried to look for a cute / aesthetic gift but that pup is my spirit animal fr)

I’ve been digging how @oozedninjas does their Headcanons (as long with their writing, I seriously eat it up everytime yum yum yum)

as much as I love looooong Headcanons, sometimes I only have some blurbs going on in my mind, I also think this keeps things so dynamic, every interaction can be seen and everyone is happy yipee (I hope you don’t mind me using your writing style? okay so, quick rundown for those who both A) are immune to spoilers B) also do not know Venus or Jennika’s origins-- bulletpoint time~!

So Venus de Milo, the “girl turtle”, the “fifth turtle” (not counting April’s extremely brief stint as a white-bandana’d turtle in the Archie comics run) was introduced in 1997′s Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation

An episode of “The Toys That Made Us” touched upon Venus’ creation so idk it’ll cover what I won’t deign to acknowledge.

it’s.... I mean, i’m 38 so it no longer strikes me as bad as just really fucking embarrassing... for them. to be written saying. fuck, at least they didn’t make her bandana color pink.

so fast forward to Venus teaching them to dreamwalk so they can go rescue Splinter from Dragon Lord’s clutches in the dreamscape.

unfortunately, Dragon Lord offscreen murders Chung I so Venus is narratively anchorless post-rescue, so she’s invited to stay with them. thus ensues wacky hijinks with their new pal, Venus Boom Boom de Milo.

I glossed over the urge to write a cumulative review of Next Mutation. Just, take my word as the target demographic of the show during the last gasps of 90s Turtlemania that TNM was a trashfire overall but... y’know... if you ever needed a palette cleanser after some grimdark or angsty TMNT content, give TNM a whirl. The slapstick was intentional and The Point in the show. Venus’ circumstances for coming was as serious as it would get.

... Also, yes, they made them not related in TNM, preteen snackugaki didn’t clock why because I watched a lot of wuxia as a kid so brotherhood is a term beyond blood ties to me (and if I’m being honest, martial brotherhood is fkkn metal) and later I heard tell that it was to lure more girls into the franchise with both a girl turtle and romance options. which idk whatevs man. 

I also have to clear that, actually no, Donatello and Venus did not fight EVERY episode. Donatello, despite sprinkling a little too much barely disguised snobbery, did defer to Venus’ expertise in “the supernatural” when the situation called for it, and Venus would commend Donnie on his scientific ingenuity. They even teamed up skillsets to create surveillance drones! She essentially casted Calm Emotions on him while he tried to hack the controls of the Astro Megaship back for the In Space Rangers. They breached the divide between STEM and Humanities! They only had one “real fight" near the end of the season-- because Donnie was playing his containment breach elevator mid trash copyright strike immune proto-EDM too loud while she was trying to meditate. and that’s just being bad roommates tbh.

...christ I know it’s gonna come up too, but also NO, there was not constant advances made toward Venus during the show. At most was Mikey pulling his ol’ “I work out every day~!” schtick for like 2 episodes of the 5 spent to introduce Venus. And then after? A shipper’s desert, you’d have to dig and peer behind like 8 curtains for any viable fodder. 

...OKAY NOW FOR JENNIKA’S ORIGINS: Jennika is an IDW character specifically so, naturally why she isn’t in (or would’ve been, AHEM) a lot of iterations yet (or at all, COUGH) (but to continue in honesty there’s a lot of legal tape to cut through since Jennika is IDW’s while TMNT overall is Nick’s) Introduced as a Foot Assassin, her place in the Foot Clan shifts when Splinter takes over from Shredder (Saki), eventually she forms actual bonds with both the turtles and Splinter to where it’s implied she also saw him as an important figure to her if not an outright surrogate father figure. And because TMNT is mess and drama the other 50% of the time, Karai takes over the Foot from Splinter and shenanigans compounded by Karai’s then-current machinations for the Foot-- results in Jennika getting shanked in the stomach by Karai during a clandestine meeting to resolve clan rivalry. She’s losing blood fast, Donnie works to save her and it’s Leo who volunteers for blood transfusion to keep her stable mid-transit. 

SURPRISE!

Leo’s blood mutates Jennika into a mutant turtle. And then Casey ghosts/dumps her. My poor daughter. She has a real rough time of it before fully integrating with the boys. Raph falls in with Old Hob, gets hoodwinked, and now they live in Mutant Town. Jennika slowly finds herself again, as a mutant turtle, a Splinter clan ninja, a girlfriend, a guitarist in a band she started, a sister in a found family, and a constable to a very little town.

okay! we’re all marginally informed about my two wonderfull daughters, Venus and Jennika~!

so if I can indulge further, I’m going to use my cognizance and make it everyone’s problem because I have beem quietly foaming with ideas for bg lore for tactical!J&V, more bullet points!

ok so, donathan mentioned a bit about their tac! Leo and Donnie being the snipers, Mikey and Raph spotting for them while also being demolitions and heavy ordinance specialists respectively

I would think, then for Vee and Jen, they’d be classified as close quarters combat specialists, complicated extraction? compromised area? call them to clean up and clear out~

give or take “magic” being a thing used in donathan’s AU, or anyone’s AU of this AU, Vee would probably be a close combat specialist along with Jen.

Vee, I feel, would, barring a ...”tactical fan”, (even though in TNM it was just her fists and her little wizard components but her toy came with a fan so.) probably use batons, Jen in lieu of her tekagi-shuko would... most likely use tactical karambit. not that large of a leap really.

for my personal lulz, Vee and Jen are... accurate, height-wise. Raph gets to be the biggest brother since alligator snapping turtles are, in fact, the largest motherfucking freshwater turtles on the north american continent. no getting around it.

my Vee in all Rise AUs is a softshell since the messy hanzi used to write her first given name, Mei Pieh Chi (美鱉气) has the hanzi that’s most commonly translated as softshell turtle (鱉). eh ‘di wow talaga

and listen, I love and I mean LOVE, how some of y’all have written the tac!boys, mwah; but god I’m a professional turtle bully. LEONARDO'S DIFFERENT VERSION DATING HCS ( PART 2 )

Depending on his mood he might be more open about PDA some days ( Special occasions , peace before / after war, etc ), but in general he likes to keep it simple in front of others and let himself go in private

Unless you already know or start training self defense he won't let you go on missions , he would try to convince April to persuade you to stay with her while they do their stuff

Tries to take you beautiful or aesthetic places , but more often than not you two will be interrupted , so to avoid that he started to give you more gifts and spend more quality time inside a safe place

He loves it when you compliment his appearance , but if you compliment his skills and wisdom ? OOF , this man would be all giggly and blushing like a school boy

Denial and silent jealousy , he would not communicate his thoughts and would try himself to stop thinking that way , but it only gets worse . Fortunately , when he's on the edge of exploiting he would try his best to talk with you about it

Even when he's on the foot clan he would still choosing you

Ok so first to talk about this version I say that if you decide to keep being his friend you have to teach him a lot of stuff ( Maybe I'll add a HC )

Maybe you're a close friend of the turtles , maybe you're Leonardo's partner / ex

The thing is that you were just or more patient with him than his counterpart , making him reflex about his existence , morals , actions , everything

So he decides to stay on Earth and try to be like the other turtles , to give his " brothers " a better life far from their creator

So , after a long time of learning , communicating and spending time with you , he decides to date you so he can be finally your boyfriend ( You told him that mate is weirdly used to call a partner here , he asked why , but you avoided the question flawlessly lol )

That being said , he would be slow with PDA but once he learns all the types of affection , he would SHAMELESSLY french kiss you , talk about how good you were last night , hug you on the air , etc

Even he's more civilized than before , he would steal without care things that he knows you like or need ( Be careful with saying " Oh I wish I had money to buy x thing" he won't think twice on breaking the law if it means he'll get it for you )

Cuddling with him is cool until you wake up first but he don't , and he won't let go even in his sleep ( Might even pull you much closer like if he's trying to absorve you with his body )

Yes , he did learn the sharing importance , but with you ? Hell nah , he growls to anyone who is way too much confident with you , including his brothers , but specially humans and the og turtles ( Leonardo having it worse , he would probably get hurt more than once just for talking with you inconveniently alone )

If you talk with him about his jealousy he would try his best to not push you away , but don't expect it to happen soon or fade away completely

Your loyal servant at lifting heavy weights , helping you get something out of your reach , etc , but if you don't know how to fight or be just as strong as him , good luck on trying to go on a mission / train or put yourself at any danger

When I was a child in 2013, visiting Nickelodeon's site and finding a treasure-trove of Spongebob, Winx and TMNT flash games was like magic to me. BUT MAN. The TMNT flash games are one of the best ever to me I've played in my life. (on an aesthetic stand-point! Turtle Tactics and Dark Horizons are so awesome man, legendary flash games to me.)

Since I am utterly autistic about 4 green alien turtles and their rat dad...Here we are again. With me posting OC cringe 2016 me would've killed myself over :V (cry about it 11 yo/ me, afraid of cringe culture back then, it's DEAD NOW)

2 years ago, I used flashpoint to replay it for the first time in years and I remember crying of glee LOL (I still play Dark Horizons and turtle tactis to this day btw). I played Dark Horizons and Turtle Tactics and also TMNT: Throw Back (NO I DID NOT NAME THIS LIKE A MEME THIS IS ITS NAME. I STILL BURST INTO LAUGHTER LIKE A CHILD OVER THE NAME AGING POORLY DUE TO INTERNET LINGO)

Those 2 flash games are just so...Technically advanced?? For its time?? LIKE A FULLY FLEDGED 3D FLASH GAME WITH UNITY ENGINE BASIS? DAMN. And then Dark Horizons? CHEF'S KISS I LOVE THAT GAME SO MUCH. AESTHETICALLY AND THE COMBAT FEELS RLLY NICE TO ME IMO, AND JUST...Everything about THAT flash game, god TIMELESS CLASSIC I COULD YAP ON FOR HOURS ABOUT THIS NO JOKE.

I am enthralled by the designs and art of Dark Horizons, it's why I made this drawing. The game just..Speaks to me on so many levels. IT'S JUST SO PLEASING TO SEE ALL THE ARTWORK I EXTRACTED. As far to my knowledge- it never got released, so I might make a post of just a few favourites I liked from the game. :D

I just wonder if I can post those in the first place, it's after all, not my artwork, from a flash game, and TMNT, so yeah, legal IP and stuff. I studied the in-game sprites for a good few hours back then, and did my best to replicate it to the best of my abilities!! Oh, this is a fun (and interesting) ask since I generally don't talk about Fast Forward that much (at least in the context of TMNT 2003 canon proper.)

I remember back when I first watched through the entirety of the 2003 I was actually surprised by how much I ended up enjoying it? I think it helped that I already knew ahead of time that Fast Forward was going to be different in terms of art style, tone, and writing, so I didn't get completely blindsided by the brighter color palette and goofier, more episodic storytelling.

Now mind you, I definitely have my fair share of personal gripes with the season; some of the colors are too bright (the red they use for Raph's mask, belt, and enviropak legitimately hurts my eyes) and there were a number of instances where the turtles or Splinter would drop a line and I'd be like "He would not f**king say that." I also feel like there was a massive missed opportunity to explore how the turtles and Splinter felt being a world where they could walk around freely in the daylight as well as any potential homesickness they felt, but Playmates and the execs at 4Kids were really adamant about keeping the tone of the season as lighthearted and unserious as possible.

Overall though, I'd say I am pretty forgiving towards Fast Forward and there is quite a bit of stuff from the season that I do like. I like the overall aesthetic of the future setting, the weapons the turtles wield are fantastic, I love the character designs (seriously, the gear the turtles wear, along with their slightly more individualized heights/builds, are a massive improvement over the previous seasons), some of the characters exclusive to the season are enjoyable, and episodes like Future Shellshock, Invasion of the Bodysnatcher, The Freaks Come Out At Night, and Graduation: Class of 2105 are some of my favorite in the 2003 series. (I will also die on the hill that Sh'Okanabo could have easily been the most nightmarish antagonist to grace the 2003 universe had he been introduced in an earlier season when the tone was still serious.)

So, ya know, tl;dr version: Definitely not my favorite season from the 2003 series and I do have some problems with it, but there are also a lot of aspects from Fast Forward I do enjoy—I really wish the second season had happened since many of the characters and concepts never had the chance to fully blossom. (Darius would have been defeated for good, the Dark Turtles would have switched sides, Shredder would have returned controlling the body of a Triceraton, and Cody would have started to fade out of existence due to the amount of time the turtles had been in the future, among other unrealized plots.)

Ladies, Gentlemen, and sluts alike. I give you another tmnt au. But make it 2012.

Imagine if Karai was never abducted from Yoshi as a baby. She went with her father to live in America to escape the grief of their wife and mother. To help with this, Yoshi decides to take Karai (who now just goes by Miwa obvi) to a pet store to get what ever pet she wanted.

“These ones!” She pressed her nose against the glass.

“Turtles?” Yoshi examined the reptiles. “Don’t you want maybe a dog? Or a cat?”

“No, I want these ones.”

Yoshi sighs. “Fine we’ll get a turtle.”

“No! I want all of them.”

“You want all four of them?”

“They’re a family. A family shouldn’t be torn apart.”

So Yoshi gets four turtles for his daughter.

Then he sees something shifty, instructs Miwa to stay put. Blah blah blah, he gets turned into a rat and the turtles get mutated while Miwa remains unaltered.

She grows up with the ninja turtles. Develops a lot of the same hobbies as them, like skate boarding and video games.

Being the only unmutated one in the lair, she was allowed to go to the surface before any of the turtles could. Splinter was very hesitant, but the first time came out of necessity. (Leo was extremely sick and he needed medicine. Miwa was able to use the little money they had to buy some children’s cough syrup.)

She also gets all of the supplies and runs errands. The turtles really suck up to her when their mutation day comes close.

Although her life is much more loving, she’s still has a punk aesthetic. Raph mostly helped out, Mikey is always invited to watch them as they dye Miwa’s hair. Donnie would rather be working in the lab and Leo is a snitch.

Splinter doesn’t like it when she cuts and dyes her hair. First time she did it and sauntered out of the bathroom he nearly had a heart attack.

Who put a fireplace in the lair?

"Who did this?"

The fireplace sat smack dab in the middle of the lair. It wasn't here the night before... And weirdly enough, it was the whole fireplace minus the ash pit and flue. It was a snow day, both today and the day before, which meant that almost everyone here stayed in the lair throughout the whole time. Even more so, almost everyone was present and accounted for, which made this case all the more difficult.

"I'm not mad," Donnie emphasised, "I just want to know."

Mikey slowly approached the fire box, peeking through it and up the smoke chamber. "It's not like anyone topside's falling through it; why can't we just keep it?"

"Because it clashes with the vibe of the lair and looks like an accident waiting to happen."

"Yah, and no one else can reasonably carry four hundred pounds worth of bricks." Leo side-eyed Raph at that. Everyone immediately turned to the snapping turtle.

It's time for the blame game.

Indignant, he gasped and pointed back at Leo. "Where would Raph get so many bricks? It makes more sense for the guy with the portal powers to bring that whole thing here!"

"I'm flattered you think I can build a fireplace in a night with a single hand; be real, Raph! Why don't you look at the tech wiz?"

"J'accuse! Why would I build a non-functional solely-for-aesthetic-purposes fireplace when I've installed perfectly functional heaters around the lair?"

April slid over to Donnie's side; she didn't even whisper quietly enough, "Not to point fingers but doing things for the sake of chaos sounds more like Mikey's thing..."

"April! Come on! Do you think I could really do all this in a single night!?"

"Did you just steal my defense?"

"This ain't about you, Leo," Mikey defended, jabbing him in the forehead, "'sides, you don't only have one hand all the time!"

"Fair, but hey!"

"All the evidence clearly points to you, Nardo."

"I don't even have a reason to build a fireplace here!"

Everyone paused. "Huh, good point..."

"Yes, thank you, Raph," The slider drawled, walking over and patting the snapping turtle on the shoulder, "Now let's point fingers at the ones who stayed suspiciously quiet the whole time."

Multiple heads snapped towards the Caseys. CJ raised his arms. "Hey! I didn't even know what a fireplace was until now!"

Cassandra paused, pointing back at her accusers. "And you four- five- six are the ones with mystic powers!"

"And you both of you can kick all of our butts without breaking a sweat."

Cassandra visibly preened at that. "Flattery will get you nowhere!"

Before anyone else could open their mouth, the fireplace made a dull thud. It trickled down the smoke chamber; before Mikey could get crushed, he jumped backward. Someone fell through after all... But they didn't have to worry too much.

"Santa!?"

"We've been over this, Mikey, Santa isn't real..."

"Then explain why I, the Jolly Roger, am here." There's no mistaking that signature deadpan tone. The smoke cleared properly and they all could see Draxum's silhouette robed in a poor imitation of Santa Claus.

"The rat told me this would be a good idea, I'm beginning to think he played me for a fool."

Heads turned to Splinter, who held a camera in his hands. "Oh, yeah, this definitely was to make you look dumb."

He tossed it aside, clambering onto the yokai and pulling the sack out of his hands. "Well! Because all of you have worked so hard throughout the past year, Draxum decided to treat you all."

Leo caught a wrapped present thrown in his direction. "Huh; didn't think Barry was capable of generosity."

"My being here is an act of generosity."

"Yeah, yeah, we love you, too, dad!"

WOW this is a loaded question. Idk if you know what you just signed up for loll.

Short answer: Vibes

Long answer:

First I just chose 4 species of turtles i thought were cool. I did a project Alabama Red Bellied Cooters (Leo) so it was already in my brain, after some research I found the yellow bellied slider (donnie) which is just SO PRETTY, Mikey is a mud turtle, which is a super small turtle and has these gorgeous orange spots, and Raph is a northern diamondback terrapin, because ahhh they have polka dots!

The turtle types i chose were purely aesthetic, and then i just assigned one for each turtle in a way I thought looked nice. The clothes and how the characters present themselves is really what I worked the most on.

I wanted to focus a lot on the characters differences and similarities. People dress differently depending on what they do, where they go, climate, sensory needs, personal style, etc. Its important to kinda balance practicality and something that makes sense for the character vs something that just looks cool. I talk about designs under the one for each character, but here I'll hit the highlights from a purely design standpoint.

Leo: The tallest of the brothers as he accepts his role of the oldest and carries it with him wherever he goes. I thought his stripes being over his eyes would be a nice nod to rottmnt leo. For his outfit, he wears his mission outfit (ninja pants and straps), just most of the time just the pants with no straps. Leo experienced some pretty intense trauma at a young age (i will get more into this in the comic) resulting in him never really feeling safe. This is why he is constantly in his battle outfit, ready in case something goes wrong. His straps for his mission outfit are the base for the rest of the group.

Donnie: Donnie really looks up to Leo, and wants to make it up to him for stuff that happened in the same traumatic event. He wants to be someone his brother can be proud of, and from his perspective, this means being like Leo. This is why things like their face shape, stripe pattern, and height mirror eachother. Donnie wears overalls because he needs lots of pockets, plus they are cute, but what says the most about him is his mask. Leo wears a more classic tmnt mask, and in an attempt to be like him, Donnie does the same, except it gets really annoying on his face, so he pushes it up on his head like a headband. This is my favorite detail! He wears his mask when trying to be impressive or serious, but you can see the real Donnie peaking through when he pushes it back. This happens already in one of the early updates of the first part of the comic.

Donnie's strap for his mission outfit is very similar to Leo, except his Hamato crest is put on his chest, and it attaches to a tool belt instead of his pants.

Raph: so admittedly I didn't put as much time and thought into raph and mike as I did Leo or Donnie, but whatever. Raph typically wears dark colors, sweatpants, t-shirts, tank tops, and hoodies. Clothes aren't super important to him, and he just wants something he can move and be comfortable in. Like all Raphs, he is a bit of a rebel, and is angsty, so this kinda translates into his clothes. Since Raph doesn't put much thought into what he wears, neither do I. Oh, and he wears his bandana like a kerchief on his head, so it's out of his face like Donnies.

His straps go in a V because I ran out of shapes.

He is shorter then Donnie even though he's older, because I'm short and projecting.

Mikey: Mikey is the smallest of the group, since a lot of his arc is trying to stand out and be treated more like his age. Fun fact: he and Donnie are twins, but people, especially those outside of his fam, treat Donnie with more respect because he appears and presents older.

Mikey loves to wear bright colors. Like, so much that you can barely see him under them. He wears big t-shirts that he tie dyed himself and mismatched leg warmers. I can't wait to show his "going to the surface outfit" because it is just so much fun. His mask is around his neck like a cowboy because 1. He's more childish 2. Leo and him are obsessed with a comic about Space Cowboys.

Mikey's mission outfit straps are an x over his chest like a safety harness. (I also just got this idea, but an X over someone's chest in ballet means death. This might come into play later)

Side note: the characters bandanas will help symbolize their arcs. When a character goes through development, their bandana will change, for better or for worse.

April O'Neil: Actually the first design concept i came up with. Thinking of the original April O'Neil yellow jacket, I wanted to give her a battle jacket. Because it's a comic I couldn't get in too much detail, but I'll probably do a full design at some point. Probably.

April wears combat boots, pants with patches, and she dyed her hair since April O'Neil was originally a red head, except in mine April's hair is the color of a fire truck. Her outfit is good for school and tramping through the sewers, and the smiley faced knee patch is a nodd to Mikey from rottmnt.

Splinter: I've only seen brown or gray Splinters, but a lot of the pet rays I've seen are white or spotted, so I decided to give him spots. I wanted the characters to have a stable parental figure, and most of their unresolved trauma resulted from that event I keep talking about (aka "the incident") and a lack of proper acknowledgment afterward.

Splinter has his fancy robes, but he also has his Dad Outfit, which is Khakis and a polo. It was very important to me that he was rocking a Dad bod, because every good Dad need a dad bod. He has 4 ninja children to rangle, after all!

LONG LONG STORY SHORT SHORT:

Never design a character before you get to know them. Learn stuff about them before determining what they might like. Draw a bunch of little thumbnails, experiment, have fun! Draw or doodle all your characters next to eachother to see if their vibes make sense, even if they contrast. Draw your characters doing things. Focus on their verb. What does your character do? What do they need to wear to make that work? And how can you make that cute? And don't be afraid to have them change over time!

Mind you, I was four at the time, and ho boy are there a lot of important sequels from that year! With that, thoughts:

Children's Films

Back to the Future, Part III: I haven't seen any of these films, but I think (especially in the post-Rick and Morty era) that it's mandatory to suggest them. I dunno. Thankfully, this isn't the one that weirdly seems to allude to Trump running for president in 2016.

Home Alone: Extremely wealthy kid (who doesn't want to participate in the family Christmas festivities due to awful relatives) gets left at home by accident while his family flies...somewhere (internationally, I think]); Joe Pesci manages to make time in his busy filming schedule (Goodfellas came out the same year) to try to rob the kid with accomplice Daniel Stern. Trap-based hijinx ensue. I remember loving this movie as a kid (seen a couple of years later), but everyone else complaining about it since like 1999.

The Neverending Story II: I HATED THIS MOVIE. The only thing I remember about it is that the main character, for some reason, keeps making wishes and this evil witch's over-the-top gumball dispenser steals his memories (contained in gumball-like crystal balls). No thank you.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: I was not a fan of TMNT as a kid (I complained about how everyone else was) and do not like furries of any kind (I think the aesthetic is stupid), but these movies were kinda good for what they were.

The Witches: You know that adaptation of the Roald Dahl book with the ugly, child-eating witches? This is the one.

Adult Films

Cinema Paradiso: This was listed on the page for American films despite 1.) being Italian and 2.) coming out in 1988. I'm leaving it here because I remember liking it (though nothing else about it) and probably have a higher opinion of it than anything else on the list.

Die Hard 2: I know I've seen it, but I don't remember anything about it besides "boorish action/guy film."

Dreams: I figure if it's an Akira Kurosawa film and it's magical realism, then I should probably go watch it.

Edward Scissorhands: I had heard of this movie looooong before I ever had the opportunity to watch it, which was at a teen lock-in thing at the library. I didn't end up watching it, if that tells you anything. I mean, why? How do you stop from accidentally killing yourself every five seconds?

La Femme Nikita: I have never watched it. However, growing up (as in, years later), the title was everywhere -- for no reason I ever understood or had explained to me. Kids would mention it without context. This makes me feel like it's somehow important pop-culturally, but I have no idea why. Because I didn't know what "Nikita" meant as a child and because the title was in French, I figured it had to do with assassination; I have no idea how I drew that conclusion (beyond "na-keed-duh" sounding vaguely like "killer" with an odd accent to my six-year-old ear). As it turns out, I was right that she's an assassin. +1 Coolness Point to me for oracular knowledge.

Goodfellas and The Godfather, Part III: The two ends of cynicism vs. romanticism re: Italian-American organized crime. If only I were @theoutcastrogue and cared about mobsters.

Predator 2: I REMEMBER THIS ONE! This one is the one after the one with Ahnold; it's set in LA and is another pro-cop/male power fantasy action flick, despite/because they are in over their heads against the Predator.

Tremors: Though I have no reason to watch it, the rest of the movies in the series, or the show, I feel obligated to recommend this in light of the Dune movies. Tremors is a pastiche of Dune; it's set in the desert town of Perfection, Nevada, where there be burrowing sand monsters that are a dangerous menace to everyone. This is somehow a comedy. The later installments add the bit that the creatures are endangered and so, despite being a threat to humans, are not to be killed.

If it’s okay for me to ask what were your inspirations when creating mizuiro?

Ok, first of all, you're totally allowed to ask! Secondly, I don't think you're ready for my weaboo answer. I'm sorry in advace HAHA. I was 13 when I decided to join a Bleach Roleplaying Forum. (Yes you read that right.) I created a character, Mizuiro, who was a Shinigami. She was depressive and shy. Her sword had the power to choke people to death. It was something like "Choke, Chinmôku" (meaning "silence"). She was very dramatic HAHA. Her first design was based off Youmu Konpaku from the game Touhou. To this day… I still haven't played or don't know anything about Touhou (lol sorry). Using Gimp back then, I colored her hair pale blue because I thought it could be cool to have a whole theme with her name, Hasu Mizuiro, meaning "Pale blue lotus". I knew there was someone called Mizuiro in the Bleach series already, but I guess I didn't care oops.

She stayed my muse for so many years, because I, too, struggled with depression for a long time. She was an escape to my emotions, I guess. During my late teenage years, I began writing with her with some friends of mine. Again, I was at a very bad place in my life. Mizuiro helped me a lot. Over the years, she kept some of her main traits : Melancholic and calm. I also developped new ones for her, like being curious to the core, creative and a daydreamer. At first, I got a lot of inspiration from my intense feelings and many expressions using the word "blue" (ie : Why so blue?; Once in a blue moon; Feeling blue; etc) During the pandemic, I began writing with her again- as an escape. (There is a pattern here, see.) I always loved the Vaporwave/Synthwave aesthetic and music. During those years, it kept me calm. I decided I would associate this type of music with her, mostly because it explores themes of escape and half-lucid dreams. In 2020, I had a lot of time and got inspiration from this music. I finally found the courage to publish some of my writings online. Because of ~life~ and how busy I am, I concentrated my energy on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003) universe. It was both because I never stopped being obsessed with it and because it was better for me to focus on one coherent backstory instead of different projects. Since then, I was introduced to an online TMNT fan community and people were actually reading what I published. My main writing project with her is Space Echoes. Since I began posting, I received many drawings of her [HERE] and I'm incredibly grateful for these. The TMNT community is amazing, and every time someone reads about her or my story, it makes me teary-eyed. Honestly, I wasn't expecting any of this love. I can't express how happy it makes me that my blorbo is getting so much attention, even though I am not very quick in my writing. ;__; Here's a recent drawing of her by my friend, @sassatello. I can't thank the community enough for the support it gave me over the recent years. Mizuiro keeps evolving and it makes me want to keep going.
