Fun fact, this was almost the title of To the Moon and Back.

Now it's the title of a sort of "prequel" to TTMAB, probably written in the style of my Olympics AU in that it'll be loosely connected scenes that aren't necessarily in order. I envision it mostly or entirely taking place during the boys' college years, including their first meeting, that time Gale got drunk at a party and designed a functional plane, and in general them getting to know each other for the first time. The actual story of them falling in love.

I say that it'll be loosely connected scenes rather than a full plot-driven story because of the way I set up the side characters -- e.g. they don't meet Curt until after college. I feel like I would struggle to do a fully legit story without most of the iconic characters I love to include, and I don't really want to retcon any of that either. So far, though, it's been fun exploring Buck and Bucky when they're younger, knowing what their story becomes 😊

A little snippet:

Tumbled. That's the word that Gale will use later, to describe the way John Egan came into his life. Tumbled. He's perfectly happy, minding his own business as he unpacks his meager belongings in the sticky heat of his newly assigned no-air-conditioning dorm room, when he hears footsteps stop outside the door, a key slip into the lock. Stepping back from his desk, where he neatly stacked his notebooks and all his books about the solar system and black holes and everything his dad called "nonsense," he wipes the sweat off his face with the bottom of his shirt and takes a breath. He's about to meet his new roommate. The door opens, and a tall, lanky boy stumbles in with twice as many bags as Gale has, laughing boisterously at something someone said that Gale will never know. And then he drops everything to the floor in a heap, the door still open behind him, and he looks at Gale. He looks right at him, all dark messy hair and bright blue eyes and the cutest smile Gale thinks he's ever seen in his life. And he feels his heart pound, because he expected... he doesn't know what he expected. But not this. He didn't expect this. He didn't expect to set eyes on his roommate and feel like he could drown in that smile, in those eyes, and not be able to look away. "Hey there roomie!" the boy says. He steps over one of his duffel bags, extending a hand to Gale, and hesitantly, Gale takes it. He hopes his cheeks aren't red. He hopes his palm isn't sweaty. He hopes he doesn't look as off-kilter as he feels. More than anything, he hopes his roommate likes him. He swallows. "Hi. I'm Gale." "Bucky."

Shiron "Shay" Hill. [he/him or she/her]

Married and in mid 40s, they continue to be a social media sensation to till this day. A friend of you and your uncle. They are the one who introduced you to the director and producer of To The Moon And Back and helped you score the lead role.

Tropes : Extra marital affair, steamy, age gap, forbidden romance, "married in name only," wedding band that feels like a chain and accidental touches that burn.

✵ THE DIRECTOR/PRODUCER :

Victor/ia "Vic" Alvarez. [he/him or she/her]

Single, former actor and in mid 40s. An incredibly close friend of Shiron. They have been attached at the hip since the two first began working together in the industry. All their works have proved to be the public's favourites and you hope that is also the case with T2MAB.

Tropes : Work romance, steamy, commitment issues, power imbalance, age gap, says "We can't do this," and does it anyway.

☼THE M/F LEAD :

Alexis "Alex" Sinclair. [he/him or she/her]

Co-actor and in late 20s. Charming and titled 'Industry's Budding Star' by People's Magazine. They seem to have a tendency to flirt with whatever that breathes. It would serve you best to not get involved with them, judging from their messy dating history.

Tropes : idiots in love, hurt/comfort, emotional intimacy, himbo/bimbo, friends/co-workers with benefits, "I will break your heart or, will you break mine?"

𝄞 THE SECOND M/F LEAD :

River Fox. [he/him or she/her]

Co-actor, singer and in late 20s. After having caught their now ex partner cheating on them, they seem to have a hard time trusting people. The fact that they dislike you for the means you used to get the role and the consequences it led to, doesn't help either.

Tropes : Slow burn, enemies-to-lovers, melting the ice king/queen, forced proximity, kind guy/gal who's mean to only you. "Your hurt recognises mine," in some instances.

☌ THE CAMERA(WO)MAN :

Arlo Kent. [he/him or she/her]

Single loyal to you and in their early 20s. They get all starry eyed and overly enthusiastic at the sight of you. More often than not, you have caught them not so discreetly keeping an eye you. You can only hope they are merely star struck and nothing more.

Tropes : Stalker/yandere fluffy romance. "I have always been watching," that somehow turns romantic. "You'll love me eventually," kinda horror romance.

The Problem with the GunnTech AU

Talking about something regarding the PJ Masks fandom and GunnTech fandom split! Not drama or anything just wanted to say something.

I do Kids show rewrites more because of the love my PJ Masks rewrite got, and how very fun it was to make. Then people began requesting stuff I hadn’t watched before/wasn’t a fan of as a child to rewrite. Naturally, I can’t have been a fan of everything. But I *was* a fan of PJ masks (not saying was as in past tense but I mean I actually did watch it as a kid: ‘evidence’ As a child I played with my little brother pretending to have super cat speed (He was Gekko).

And then ofc, I did that little original drawing of the PJ masks aged up in 2020, which never went anywhere. I just liked it, I liked Lunakko specifically tbh!

Then, I did the rewrite and named it GunnTech! I had NEVER gotten this amount of fan stuff on anything ever! I’m guessing that’s how it developed into more of its own thing.

In the past, when I posted about it, I’d post with the PJ masks tag. When I found out more dedicated PJ masks fans were having grievances with people just coming into their server FOR gunntech, I continued tagging it as PJ Masks to convey that “Guys this is still just PJ Masks,”. But now, I think that’s not such a good idea. I don’t wanna flood PJ masks tag with stuff basically unrelated now.

When I write GunnTech, I think of it as PJ Masks cause that show lives in my heart. Maybe not as much as others, and it doesn’t show often, since I’ve got so much to do, as an animation student and youtuber, but it does have its own lil room in my heart.

I want to make fanart of the real PJ Masks, and of fics like TTMAB (By @ / pjtrashofficial , idk if they’re okay with me tagging them).

To PJMCord, you guys are wonderful and welcoming! I saw people talking about the GunnTech problem, and I always thought, ‘I should really address that’, but I never got to it. I hope I never felt like a poser to you guys. For stuff like Octonauts, I could never get into my rewrite properly after the video dropped cause it wasn’t my childhood, but not so for PJ Masks. The PJ masks video came straight from the heart 🧡🧡🧡.

Uhh anyway what’s this message even to say? 😭 So sorry to what I did to the PJ Masks community, I had no clue it’d get that big, and when it did, I didn’t know what it might do to the fans of the original. Never meant anything by it! 🧡 😭

This is the main thing I've been posting snippets of recently, and I still haven't gotten around to editing it to a place I feel comfortable posting (but the first few chapters are close!).

Basically, it's (probably non-sequential) scenes from Bucky's healing process, filling in some gaps between splashdown and the epilogue of TTMAB when Bucky gets back in the cockpit again. Lots of hurt/comfort, physical and mental healing, and the boys navigating the aftermath of Artemis III.

Here's a little snippet of something I started today:

More than anything, he misses Mr. and Mrs. Egan, and for the first time since this whole mess began, sitting here in the dark lonely silence of their son's hospital room, Gale lets himself think about it for real, as more than a half-formed thought that he shoves down into his too-tight chest. He wishes they were here. God fucking dammit, he wishes they were here. They would hug their son and hold his hand, and they would tell him that they love him and that they're proud of him, of everything he's done, of everything he will do. They would always know exactly what he needs even when he can't tell them properly. They'd know what questions to ask the nurses and they'd know every member of Bucky's care team by name within a day. They'd know how to deal with all the paperwork, and their hands wouldn't shake when they filled out all the medical forms. They'd make everything feel okay again. And if they were here, they'd make sure Gale wasn't alone. They'd wrap him up in their arms and they'd let him cry no matter how much it embarrassed him. They'd help him understand all the medical jargon that the doctors keep spewing at him when his brain feels like mush and he can't keep himself above water. They'd tell him that he's doing a great job and that Bucky will be okay. That he won't spend the rest of his life with this ring on his finger feeling like, somehow, they'd only just begun. They'd tell him they love him. And he would know they meant it. And suddenly, Gale is just so unfathomably angry with this universe he loves. He is so goddamn angry, because they should be here. They should be here. And they're not.

Checked my TV guide listing to go ahead and record SSD and to see if it even shows up as airing next week, and this is what it shows up as for now, which I thought was interesting.

Hmm. So strange. Hallmark isn't promoting it at all so I guess we'll see if anything comes out this week. It's still listed on the website and elsewhere as SSD: To the Moon and Back so I'm not sure why they'd be using an alternative title with your provider.

I did start typing The Orphan Letters on Rotten Tomatoes and it pulls up the listing for SSD: TTMAB but the page doesn't exist. Weird all around. I can understand them not wanting to promote it with the Eric drama but you'd think there'd be something out there.

Aerosmith - Pink So back in 2003, Aerosmith and Kiss did a US joint headline tour. And in that October, I flew to Las Vegas for the weekend to see them at the MGM Grand. We're literally talking flew in on the Friday, gig was on the Saturday night, went straight to the airport after to fly home. It was an incredible night, one of the best gigs I've ever been to and they played Pink and Jaded, two of my favourite songs, back to back!

Good Charlotte - Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Back when I was younger and a little more mobile, I went to... a lot of Good Charlotte gigs. I did three full UK tours, every gig, front row centre on the barrier every night. Got to the point where band and crew recognised my (now ex)girlfriend and I. They'd finish each gig with Lifestyles, get a circle pit going - and as it finished, Benji & Joel would both make sure I was still on my feet 🧡

Spice Girls - Say You'll Be There Picture the scene, it's September 1996, Cassie is 15 years old and sees the video to this for the first time. And it absolutely cements the feels of 'think I might be gay' that I'd been having for about 18 months. DAMN. Just... oh yeah. Scary Spice.

Los Del Rio - Macarena It's one of those songs that always gets played at the party/disco nights at conventions, because it's guaranteed it'll get everyone up on the dance floor, doing the dance. Now, I'm generally a shy llama and don't get up to do to the dance (and half the time don't go to the parties). But there was an Amanda Tapping event I went to a few years ago, I was in my wheelchair, I'd taken my valium and I was at the party. Macarena came on, I wanted to dance but was in the chair so felt like I couldn't... until I went fuck it, wheeled over, joined in and yes I have the strength to hop my chair 45 degrees each time. I had so much fun!

Savage Garden - To The Moon and Back I'm not sure if this counts but it's basically... I found online fandom thanks to this song. I LOVED I Want You when it came out, I bought the self-titled album straight away. But the TTMAB came out and it was even more love for Savage Garden. I ended up online. And I found fandom and fanfiction and community like I'd never had before. I think that's a pretty big moment in my life. Because my it absolutely changed it
