The Great (intermittent) Teapot Hunt

I mentioned, in this post from 10 (!) years ago, that @dduane and I are very fond of our Emsa glass teapot with its clever pivoting infuser, which parks in the domed lid once raised...

...but that it had been discontinued and the potential arithmetic of glass teapot + gravity + tiled floor = no more teapot meant we want to find a backup, Just In Case.

So far the arithmetic has remained potential (phew!) but every now and then we look at eBay, Etsy and in Name Your Search Engine, just in case something emerges from the mists of discontinued time.

The problem has always been - here are a couple of recent examples - that when they do turn up they're invariably Used, with occasional dings, scrapes or even cracks, and often involve shipping charges about a time-and-a-half the cost of the teapot:

There's also the possibility of further charges in the form of import / excise duty and VAT (sales tax) once it gets here.

But a couple of weeks ago we found EXACTLY what we'd been hoping for, Hurrah!

This is not only old-stock new-In-box at an excellent price, it came from the UK so shipping charges were in single figures and, though we did indeed have to pay VAT, that was less than €4.00.

(singed-feather) A slightly dishevelled woman wobbles into the tea shop. Her white hair wet went and slick with blood, and her normally proper attire was tattered and bloody too.

But most noticeably of all, she didn't appear to be a demon or sinner of any kind.

She quietly admires the beautiful décor, but not without a thousand-yard stare that refuses to leave her face.

"Welcome to Crystal Infusions."

Cassandra looks up from her preparations, her hands pausing for a moment as she notices the disheveled woman wobbling through the door. Her usual serene expression softens at the sight of blood mixing with wet, white hair. Though startled, she quickly composes herself—this is Hell, after all, and such sights aren’t unusual. Still, something about the woman’s thousand-yard stare stirs the caretaker in her.

She wipes her hands on her apron and approaches with a gentle demeanor.

“Oh, dear.” Cassandra says softly, grabbing a small box of tissues from under the counter.

"Here, take these, clean yourself up a bit."

Her voice is warm and calming, as if speaking to someone she’s known for years. She places the tissues in the woman’s trembling hands, not rushing her, not pressing for answers.

"It looks like you’ve had a rough time."

Cassandra steps back, giving the woman space while keeping her comforting presence nearby. "There’s no rush here," she adds softly, "take your time. You’re safe now."

She turns back to the tea counter, moving calmly, already thinking of which blend might help soothe the woman’s shaken soul.

Had a light oolong today (Gui Hua). I can't lie, I'm too soft, and even other gongfu enjoyers keep clowning me for it. I love lighter teas the most. A puerh or a black tea can be ruined for me if I oversteep it a bit and also they keep sending me to the toilet, which is pretty annoying. Never ran into that problem with a white tea, light oolong or even a green tea. I need some good dark tea reccommendations. 🙏

Tea is JTH’s Duidui’s “Sakura Cloud Sea” Laobangzhang White.

Coin is 7g, in a 250ml tea pot, 100°C.

Started at 15s a steep and it slowly crept but because I am bad at this, lol.

Gonna fill up this almost liter mug and drink it away from my table.

Today I'm feeling very thankful for my teajourney, that it led me to so many cool people, that I found a new passion in the pretty boring life I led, and that I can keep learning something new.

Tea is a very cool thing, not only is it a tasty treat, but it can also improve ones health and wellbeing. You can use it as your meditation, your ritual, powerbooster, etc.

Whether you enjoy pouring its sweet drops onto a teapet with gratitude or you'd rather save every bit to yourself, doesn't matter, ceremony is yours and only yours to enjoy.

I think tea is one of those things that taught me to be grateful for the little things in life, and kind of stay in the moment,

and for that I'm grateful.
