sits up in bed. so lana and ema definitely thought they were responsible for edgeworth "choosing death", right?

(the rest of this post was supposed to go in the tags, because it's not very well organised or written, but it got too long so. here are the slightly edited tags for your reading pleasure (or otherwise)):

i was going to make this solely about ema because she's the obvious one with her open adoration of edgeworth, but the thing about rfta is that it goes to great lengths to emphasise the connection between lana and edgeworth as well.

the sl-9 incident showed that lana grows attached to people deeply, hence angel starr's comment on how, when neil marshall died, 'she (lana) felt like her own brother had died.' with edgeworth, i think it was similar but worse. because he's not just a coworker or subordinate who's dear to her. he saved her life. and it cost him his own.

at the beginning of the case, edgeworth says he was mistaken for thinking that lana was always looking out for him post sl-9 (a statement interesting on its own because that's when everyone else says she grew distant), and, later on, he brings ema fingerprinting powder because lana asked him to. then, of course, there's the 'lady luck' comment he makes.

similarly, on lana's side, you obviously have the end of the trial when she says he did well, but there's also that additional moment post-trial where she's the only one to notice — in a group comprising her, ema, phoenix and gumshoe — that he's 'hiding', listening to their conversation. point is, there's enough to suggest that she might have been the nearest thing edgeworth had to a mia; his 'chief prosecutor' to phoenix's plain 'chief'. they're as close as two people can be in a relationship where one of them is constantly lying and the other is von karma's star pupil.

rfta is pretty straightforwardly depicted as the case which solidified edgeworth's resolve to do what he did; i don't think i have to prove that. rumours about him have reached new heights, his car and knife were involved in goodman's murder, he makes an unprecedented mistake in court by failing to connect the evidence room and carpark incidents, thus forcing the chief of police to enter the trial to do so himself, and he's publicly revealed to have relied on falsified evidence to secure a conviction in the sl-9 case, all of which only happened because of lana. jake marshall even claims that from the beginning — that if you trace edgeworth's rumours back to their source, you end up meeting one person: lana skye.

and it gets worse because at the end of rfta, she thinks he's fine!! she literally says, 'i was afraid the pressure would break you, but you rose above it,' and reminds him he's nothing like gant because he's not alone. she leaves the case thinking he will be okay. and then, what, like a week passes, and she finds out that he wasn't, and that he's gone, and it's her fault. even after she was freed from gant's control, even after she had finally stopped lying, she couldn't prevent herself from claiming another life. so much for 'lady luck', i suppose.

and the game reiterates this multiple times. gumshoe states at the start that edgeworth's ties to those higher up in the department have made him the subject of constant rumours, and phoenix says (in front of ema) that he shouldn't be held responsible for the forged evidence because that was all lana's doing, which then leads to edgeworth commenting (again in front of ema) that he feels as though 'something inside him has died.' it all goes back to lana. we can argue and say that it was technically gant's doing that caused all of this, but lana still took actions that led to it. even her complicated friendship with edgeworth isn't spared; it's that closeness between them that exacerbated those rumours. how could she not feel responsible in some way?

and with ema, it's rather obvious, isn't it? if she hadn't gone poking her nose into things, none of this would have happened or come to light. and, of course, she'd never choose anyone over her sister, not for anything in the world — it's simply not a question, but that's the problem, isn't it? it's not a question. it's not some hypothetical moral dilemma. it just is. she may not have killed neil marshall, but she still has one king of prosecutor's blood on her hands. and now she has to live with that. she just. has. to live with it. no matter if he chose otherwise.

moving on from that a little, i think it's actually wild how much of ema's journey to becoming a forensics investigator is paved with bad memories. neil marshall's death and her subsequent inability to testify are what drives her to begin pursuing it, her first proper investigation results in her idol's "death" and when she finally graduates, the person who saved her sister has been disbarred, and she can't even help because she isn't allowed to. all that pain and constant pursuit of her goals, and she's still the same ema skye, still that girl shrouded in darkness, always one step behind the truth, one step a little too late. no wonder she was angry in aa:aj. i would be furious.

Blue Lock characters as Iliad heroes because I’m in the mood to break the 2 people out there who know about both:

Isagi — Odysseus — smart, a ‘game-maker’, actually does have a good idea sometimes, would probably love to beat up the people around him but there are bigger problems right now.

Bachira — Diomedes — has the ability to go absolutely feral, would lunge at god, gets a cool team-up with the bestie (aka Isagi/Odysseus) at one point, can see things others can’t (the monster/the gods).

Nagi — Achilles — blanket burritos all around, fully capable of being THE man but chooses not to a lot of the time, has a cool partner who is underrated, would slag off Isagi/Odysseus to his face, would fight someone for petty reasons.

Reo — Patroclus — HEAR ME OUT- has a partner who he is so unambiguously gay with that readers are questioning authorial intent, does housework despite it being below his station, ‘blending in and copying’ (chameleon/pretending to be Achilles).

Kunigami — Greater Ajax — bulkier, goes mad and has a downfall, would fight Isagi/Odysseus and probably lose, would be dismissive of Isagi/Odysseus (in Bastard München/in Hades).

Chigiri — Nestor — not overtly physical (due to injury/age), also has good ideas from time to time, familiar with surgery (in different ways but still).

Part of me wants the Itoshi brothers as Agamemnon and Menelaus but the personalities don’t really align. Barou fits Agamemnon better in personality but that messes up the whole ‘brothers’ part of the dynamic. Idk who Menelaus would be because they’d need to have a connection to whoever Helen would be. Karasu maybe? And Hiori as Helen? Alternatively, Rin and Sae are Paris and Hector, so Rin steals Hiori from Karasu (huh?) but that makes Rin pathetic in the wrong kind of way + Nagi doesn’t really have any personal beef with Sae so that relationship doesn’t make much sense. If we go with Sae as Hector though, then Shidou would be either Aeneas (love motifs) or Andromache (Hector’s wife). Idk who Astynax would be in the second option tho. Don’t get me started on who Neoptolemus would be I have no clue… Choki??? The CACTUS???

The Good News: I'm back on my Tumblr nonsense y'all

The Reason: I took a break from my Tumblr nonsense because I accidentally overwhelmed myself trying to keep up with everyone's submissions. As in, I was trying to answer every single one the day that it was submitted. Not my best plan, in hindsight.

The Bad News: I am probably never gonna catch up with my queue ever again, unless I'm hit with an Amazing Burst Of Inspirational Energy - which, while this has happened before, is a rare and endangered breed of existence for me. As of right now I'm gonna try and hit three-to-five answers a day, depending on my motivation

I kinda have... depression isn't the right word, because it's not severe like that, but. Recession? I hit emotional recessions every now and then, and motivation is hard. I do my best, but sometimes I genuinely do just need to. step back. and not touch anything involving socializing with people, because I am the poster child for introversion and the fastest way to exhaust myself more is to try and be interactive.

Anyways, the long story short of it is: I am once again trying to talk to my internet people!

something else i wanna talk about: the relationship between wwx, wen ning, and wen qing. in the books they only get brief moments to be a family in a way, but here— considering he didnt grow up with the jiangs—his family is wen qing's branch after he's forced to leave the cloud recessess :') wwx feels so comfortable with them, and they love him back absolutely. one of the big things in this au for us I think is: wei wuxian is so loved ❤️ JQKSKQKWK

I'm sleuthing for some aerial data for my next architecture projects, Four Seasons Manor and the Unclean Realm, and look what I spotted!

If you’re wondering why I’ve started searching for aerial shots as part of my set research now and not at the beginning of this series - first of all, I’m just winging it at all times. I had no idea what I was doing then, or even now. Secondly, Four Seasons Manor is proving to be split across two sets, so the birdseye is going to need a little bit of creativity✨ with the help from source material.

Hello, everyone. I hope this blog can bring some well-needed laughs in really trying times. That's why I've gone back into the archives of that precipitous year 2007, a year where the McMansion was sleepwalking into being a symbol of the financial calamity to follow. We return to the Chicago suburbs once more because they remain the highest concentration of houses in their original conditions. Thanks to our flipping predilection, these houses become rarer and rarer and I have to admit even I have developed a fondness for them as a result.

Our present house is ostensibly "French Provincial" in style, which is McMansion for "Chateaux designed by Carmela Soprano". It boasts 7 bedrooms, 8.5 bathrooms, and comes in at a completely reasonable 15,000 square feet. It can be yours for an equally reasonable $1.5 million.

Every 2007 McMansion needed two things: a plethora of sitting rooms and those dark wood floors. This house actually has around five or six sitting rooms (depending if you count the tiled sunroom) but for brevity's sake, I'll only provide two of them.

With regards to the second sitting room, I'm really not one to talk statuary here because beside me there is a bust of Dante where the sculptor made him look simultaneously sickly and lowkey hot.

Technically, if we are devising a dichotomy between sitting and not sitting (yes, I know about the song), the dining room also counts as a sitting room. The more chairs in your McMansion dining room, the more people allegedly like you enough to travel 2.5 hours in traffic to see you twice a year.

Here's the thing about nostalgia: the world as we knew it then is never coming back. In some ways this is sad (kitchens are entirely white now and marble countertops will look terrible in about 3 years) but in other ways this is very good (guys in manhattan have switched to private equity instead of betting the farm on credit default swaps made from junk mortgages proffered to America's most vulnerable and exploited populations.) Progress!

Okay I really don't understand the 50 bed pillows thing. Every night my parents tossed their gazillion decorative pillows on the floor just to put them back on the bed the next morning. Like, for WHAT? Who was going in there? The Pope?

I love Itty Bitties AU. I have a few questions. 1, did the magic cookies make Timmy basically Cosmo & Wanda's bio son? 2, why is Timmy a pixie? Is it because he used to be human? 3, I assume courts have a genetic aspect, based on the different sizes. So how does that work? Are some courts dominant or recessive? Can a child be a different court than their parent? Jorgen appears to be a specialty but Cosmo is Upper court? 4, what's a fun fact you haven't gotten to share yet but want to? :)

Fun Fact! Timmy has his mom's hair color!! It's slow growing, but after several decades, it'll be a nice pink just like hers! He has his dad's hairstyle, but it's not much different than before.

Yup!! On top of the Fairy DMV, the Fairy Food lets Timmy become linked to Cosmo and Wanda. He can technically be a Fagiggly Gland donor for his brother.

Also correct! Pixies have the lowest magic output compared to all the other Fairy Courts. It's the safest Court Timmy could be admitted to. Maybe when he's older, he can be fully transferred into the same Court as his parents.

Genetics? Who knows! Fairies haven't had to think about it for about 1000 years. What they do know is that Anti-Fairies are born from the shadows of Fairies, and that nobody's quite sure where Leisure Fairies comes from. Pixies and Fairies can cross-breed though, so maybe they have what's known as "recessive" or "dominate" traits. Although Pixies don't have Anti-Fairy counterpart so... 🤔 ...To be fair, Jorgen also has no idea how he's related to Cosmo.
