I've a sewing gift for you, Archivist! This pair of gilt and iron shears seems to have taken the old adage "measure twice cut once" to heart. They refuse to cut anything unless it's been measured a minimum of twice. Very tricky to use if you're in a pinch with no time for inches, but cute nonetheless. Sometimes they'll also decide to cut whatever else you're measuring - do NOT check how tall you are in their presence.
