Need For Prototype Vehicle Management System
Tumblr media
Prototype testing has been around for as long as humans have been inventing. Creating the best version of a tool requires trial and error, and without testing, end users will be left with a product that may not perform as intended and/or one that may cause injury. Unexpected issues that engineers and designers do not anticipate will undoubtedly crop up during prototype testing; nowhere is this more true than in the automotive industry. Auto manufacturers need to perform comprehensive prototype vehicle testing to ensure passenger safety as well as overall vehicle quality.
As additional technology is incorporated into automobiles, prototype testing has taken on an even more important role within the automotive industry. The entirety of prototype testing process and management needs to be done correctly and timely, since prototype vehicles are incredibly expensive to manufacture. In fact, some of the most complex prototypes cost up to $200,000. Understandably, managing the testing of these valuable assets is a priority, but it is a surprisingly tricky process.
Why is it so difficult to manage the entire process? Many would think that the automotive industry would have worked out all of the kinks in the prototyping testing process by now. However, that is far from the case. There are countless groups and individuals involved throughout the scope of the prototype testing. With so many moving parts, it isn’t surprising that the automotive industry has not developed an effective solution for prototype testing management. But because of this, the industry continues to face a number of issues that have not been properly addressed.
Why is it so Difficult to Manage Prototype Testing?
One of the biggest challenges that car manufacturers, OEMs, and testing groups face is that it is extremely difficult to track the history of the prototype vehicle part changes and the testing performed — let alone which group currently has the prototype. There is no universal tool that manufacturers, OEMs, and testing facilities can all collaborate on. As a result, these groups wind up using varying tools to keep track of the history and changes made to the prototype.
In some cases, teams may be forced to look at old emails to try and track down where the prototype is located and what changes were made. This confusion and lack of communication can lead to additional problems during the testing process. If testing groups are unable to locate the prototype, groups may be sitting around ready to test the prototype wondering where it is. Additionally if testing groups are unaware of changes made to the prototype, they may have to scramble to adjust their testing protocols. This lack of collaboration and refusal to adopt modern methods of communication and tracking could compromise the entire timing of the prototype testing program.
For an industry that actively embraces technology and innovation, the prototype vehicle testing management process has been stuck in the stone age for decades.
One way to solve many of these problems would be to build more prototypes. The issue is that costs would quickly skyrocket. Companies would spend key resources building multiple, unnecessary prototypes when there is a much more effective solution. 12th Wonder has developed a comprehensive software platform that tackles the key issues discussed. Instead of wasting time and resources the automotive industry has a new tool to handle prototype testing management(Read more…)

Title for the separated Au:
Here's a link to the description of the separated AU.
I'm realizing that when I originally was just going to focus on Don and Leo for a while, it is much more interesting to focus on all four.
Since that post I have more stuff about Raph and Mikey and their circumstances (*cough* trauma). I'll work on their designs soon.
Since I will be focusing on all four at different points of time in the comic, here are two names that I came up with:
I wrote down a little prologue for the first part of the comic. So, with luck, part 1 of the comic will be out on the weekend or on Monday (depending on how much time I'll have).

the damn things overlap, ch4 - transfiguration
chapter summary: valentine does a little hardware hacking and is unhappily reminded of her own corporeal form
“Alright,” she said, when she’d finished. “Hold still. This is going to sting.”
She propped herself up on one knee to get better leverage, before she gave the command to eject his board. Goro flinched, and she patted his tense shoulder sympathetically. Hot swapping felt like getting kicked in the back of the head.
Still, she couldn’t help but take a moment to marvel at the sight of it as she tugged it free, feel a shiver of jealousy at the elegance of the red and black silkscreen, at the intimacy of holding the warm circuitry of an organ in her bare hand.
“Ready?” She braced against his shoulder. “Here we go.”
Her old deck slotted in perfectly, and with a little force, anchored itself in a satisfying click. She connected her jack from her right wrist into the exposed port at the back of his head. They were truly, completely entangled now, but until she could verify everything was working she was loathe to prematurely disconnect the rest of the mess, after the work it had taken to get them all in place.
But the deck booted successfully in the first try, and she felt a sudden burst of mortification as the custom banner she’d created scrolled past her view. Goro made a low noise.
“Higurashi,” he murmured. “The sound of summer. This is your symbol?”
“No, it’s uh–“ She bit her lip, tasted blood again. “It’s a joke. There are cicadas out east, that spend seventeen years underground before they finally emerge. Took me a while to get this thing working.”

Mastering Performance Testing: Key Best Practices, Tools, and the Rise of Performance Testing as a Service
Performance testing is a critical aspect of software quality assurance that focuses on evaluating how a system performs under various conditions. The primary goal is to ensure that an application meets the required performance benchmarks and can handle the expected load without any issues. This type of testing assesses the responsiveness, stability, scalability, and speed of a system, which are crucial for user satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Tumblr media
Performance testing involves different types of evaluations, such as:
Load Testing: Determines how the system performs under expected user loads.
Stress Testing: Evaluates how the system behaves under extreme conditions, beyond normal operational capacity.
Scalability Testing: Assesses the system’s ability to scale up or down based on the load.
Endurance Testing: Tests the system’s performance over an extended period to identify potential memory leaks or degradation.
Spike Testing: Checks the system’s reaction to sudden, sharp increases in load.
Best Practices for Performance Testing
Define Clear Objectives: Establish what you aim to achieve with the performance tests. This could include identifying bottlenecks, validating scalability, or ensuring response time meets user expectations.
Develop a Performance Testing Plan: Create a comprehensive plan that outlines the scope, objectives, environment, and tools required. This plan should also detail the test scenarios and metrics for evaluation.
Set Up a Test Environment: Ensure that the test environment closely mirrors the production environment. Differences in hardware, software, and network configurations can lead to inaccurate results.
Design Realistic Test Scenarios: Create test scenarios that accurately reflect real-world usage patterns. Consider different user roles, data volumes, and transaction types to simulate realistic conditions.
Monitor System Performance: Continuously monitor system performance during testing to gather data on various metrics such as response time, throughput, and resource utilization.
Analyze and Interpret Results: After conducting tests, thoroughly analyze the data to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Use this analysis to make informed decisions about optimization.
Iterate and Retest: Performance testing should be an iterative process. Based on the results, make necessary adjustments and retest to ensure that performance improvements are effective.
Document Findings: Keep detailed records of test results, configurations, and any issues encountered. This documentation is valuable for future reference and troubleshooting.
Tools Used in Performance Testing
Several tools are available to assist in performance testing, each offering different features and capabilities:
Apache JMeter: An open-source tool designed for load testing and performance measurement. It supports various protocols and is widely used for its flexibility and comprehensive features.
LoadRunner: A performance testing tool by Micro Focus that offers advanced features for load generation, performance monitoring, and result analysis. It supports a wide range of applications and protocols.
Gatling: An open-source load testing tool known for its high performance and ease of use. It uses Scala-based DSL to create test scenarios and is ideal for continuous integration pipelines.
BlazeMeter: A cloud-based performance testing service that integrates with Apache JMeter and offers additional features like scalability and real-time reporting.
New Relic: A monitoring and performance management tool that provides real-time insights into application performance and user experience.
Dynatrace: An AI-powered performance monitoring tool that offers deep insights into application performance, infrastructure, and user experience.
Performance Testing as a Service (PTaaS)
Performance Testing as a Service (PTaaS) is an emerging model where performance testing is delivered as a managed service rather than an in-house activity. This approach offers several benefits:
Scalability: PTaaS providers typically offer scalable solutions that can handle varying test loads and complexities without requiring significant investment in infrastructure.
Expertise: PTaaS providers bring specialized expertise and experience to the table, ensuring that performance testing is conducted using best practices and the latest tools.
Cost-Effectiveness: Outsourcing performance testing can be more cost-effective than maintaining an in-house team and infrastructure, especially for organizations with fluctuating needs.
Flexibility: PTaaS allows organizations to access a range of testing services and tools without being tied to specific technologies or platforms.
Focus on Core Activities: By outsourcing performance testing, organizations can focus on their core activities and strategic initiatives while relying on experts to manage performance testing.
Continuous Monitoring: Some PTaaS providers offer continuous monitoring and performance management, ensuring that performance issues are identified and addressed promptly.
Conclusion
Performance testing is an essential component of ensuring software quality and user satisfaction. By adhering to best practices, utilizing appropriate tools, and considering PTaaS options, organizations can effectively evaluate and enhance their systems' performance. This proactive approach helps in delivering reliable, high-performing applications that meet user expectations and business goals.
