last time eddie chose something it was to restart with shannon and she chose being a mother to chris than being a wife and therefore choosing to put chris first every time means he will never be alone and will always have him [8x09 choosing between you and my son you will lose every time] but doesn’t want to touch on the void of shannon because it symbolizes him not being enough that she couldn’t chose both of them, he needs to find a way to see that he can have both things in life a relationship with his son and someone else. with ana she played the part to a point but was still under the ploy of choosing a mother for chris, putting chris first as he should and marisol i don’t even know what to think of that and later comes kim and she is the shannon except he is picking her over his son [ie; hiding this relationship knowing it’s wrong] and that leads for chris to leave him and call the grandparents and eddie now gives up everything in order to gain back that relationship as that should have always been his constant if he has chris everything is ok but like that talk with bobby, he doesn’t have to lose everything in order to feel something he needs to know he can have everything that having a partner doesn’t mean he will lose chris i’m not sure if this makes sense i hope it does all of these eddie posts you have been great at looking to see what he brings to the show in such complexity

Yes like . Eddie thinks he can only have one thing in life . That being Chris which , is his child so that is understandable but . He just needs to know that he can have things outside of Chris , he can be his own person ... The whole joy thing as well is a point of letting him understand that he CAN have more than just Chris , he can have JOY that isn't directly tied to his son , he thinks he has to always be the perfect father , perfect firefighter , perfect son to his own parents but . He's human , he can't always be perfect , he tried to be a perfect husband to Shannon as well but they clashed too much for it to be so . I think he thinks he feels like he truly failed there , he was trying to choose Shannon through Chris , by letting her come back and trying to repropose until she made her own decision to divorce him and put herself first ...... and then she died . So I think . Eddie has really taken that psychologically to where he thinks if he wants something for himself then it's gonna ruin everything , he's gonna lose Chris , lose the team , his family , etc . And that all kinda does come true when he put his desires first to talk to Kim , to try to grieve Shannon through her and it all blew up in his face because he tried to hide it . He put that before Chris' needs because yeah , most of the decisions Eddie has made have been FOR Chris , moving to LA , talking to Shannon again for HIS schooling , trying to start over with her FOR him , putting BUCK in his WILL for Chris , moving back to Texas to BE with him . Many many more examples but the will one is SO interesting because , yeah Eddie has said , he's not gonna choose between Buck and Chris but . He has . He has chosen Buck , he's chosen him FOR Chris , AND himself because they're BEST FRIENDS . He's chosen Buck over and over again AS well as Chris , he just doesn't think he can because he doesn't think he even deserves it .

best way i could is if he was written with double meaning because on one hand, he could've been spacing out, but you also have to consider the fact that this guy is one hell of a cautious person, and the fact it's happened multiple times

the boat ride with kim and eddie is such an important conversation that i feel many people forget in discussing how eddie is afraid to let people in and him admitting to not being aware of things and she is almost a vessel for the viewer in seeing what we see but he can’t despite being his vessel of shannon while it was such a crazy storyline i think it felt lack luster because it was not brought up in s8 and if they had the talk with chris or even bobby about it i just feel like it’s another deep plot they had for eddie and threw it away even her coming as shannon for him to talk is so insane but when u hear what he is saying it’s weighs heavy so many missed things this season in the writing

TRUE !! I just had to rewatch it right now but the line she says , ' You have more to give than you think anyone can take ' says A LOT . About Eddie , about why he can't let anyone in , why he's afraid to do so because he has been conditioned time and time again that when he does let himself give , he can lose it all just like that . Shannon's death , Buck and his own numerous NDE's . Chris after all the Kim stuff . That definitely is a line that is never talked about , I didn't even remember it whatsoever until now but that means a lot for Eddie . I have such a love hate relationship with the Kim storyline because actually watching it the first time it was CRAZY and then he messed it up with Chris walking in on him but then Chris just leaves and is gone for half of season 8 and it's never even mentioned WHY again ... It was a good soap drama esq plotline in theory but in practice it definitely was lackluster especially when you binge through it .... Her being Shannon's fucking CLONE and talking to Eddie like her and like she knows him as her was good but the way it did explode in his face was just . Bad I think because Nobody wanted Chris to just leave like that .. it's valid he did but I think most of the fanbase would've wanted him to go to Buck or Tia Pepa or even Abuela instead of leaving for MONTHS in irl and the show :( the timing was just , subpar and retrospection of it now , I definitely wish it could've been resolved way better and faster then how it went with the Texas arc and half of it being off screen anyway . Eddie's such an amazing character with such a complex thought process but the show just , throws it away because they seem like they can't be bothered which really sucks . This could've been a great real plot with consequences that get resolved satisfyingly and then leading to another arc where he realizes what he truly wants and needs in his life and relationships but we just . Absolutely got none of that unfortunately even though I did like the fights and angst he had with Buck and the moving out / in stuff was really enjoyable . It's like they're only feeding us ounces of Eddie whump and angst and then just forgetting about it because they can't care enough :/

Many of Alexander's eariler book were important to me. Perhaps A Pattern Language is the best known book. While I knoew of their existence I have not read and of the four book iof the nature of order. I was vrey excited to read this paper from 2003. It's well worth downloading and reading.

What are your thoughts on Arya?

Hmmmm, that’s a loaded question, I think.

I really like her generally. Her growth over the series was really subtle and refined where Eragon’s was more obvious and explosive in nature. I’m always a sucker for a character who relearns how to let herself care about people and have friends (shoutout to Gwen Stacy in ATSV). She, Eragon, and Saphira made quite the fun trio in Brisingr and Inheritance.

Other than that, I don’t have much to say because it’s been almost two years since I last read the series so I only remember the most random details lol.

Anyway, with that said, I’ll leave you with a hot take: making Arya queen and a Rider was actually a really good move.

Why? Because if Christopher executes it properly—and I think he will considering how Murtagh went—it could lead to some really interesting plot lines and even greater growth for her character. It is so bad for Alagaësia’s politics but so good for my drama-loving ass. I’m excited for what he has in store for her.

Chris headcanon time- Chris is not great in school, he's not an academic character and he makes a huge joke of being 'shit at school' and 'being dumb' but really his inability to keep interest in any subject (including the ones he does like) and getting low grades in everything actually make him feel pretty terrible but he can't actually find the motivation to do better, he's genuinely trying his best but he just feels like he's awful at everything and covers it all up with 'haha I'm just lazy and idc'. When he goes to college for tech related stuff he does significantly better, despite maybe a couple blips where it crosses over with other subjects he isn't as skilled in. After Josh's prank at the lodge he continues to try for a while but he drops out after a couple months.

I know this categorisation is all over the place but I’m cackling that I’ve apparently read the same number of comics where Jason appears as Red Hood as I have comics containing Stacy from the GCPD, Dylan Battles (I love you Dylan), Ramsey Robinson (really hitting the Manhunter list here), and the Christopher Smith Peacemaker (aka the one from Blue Beetle).
