Chris headcanon time- Chris is not great in school, he's not an academic character and he makes a huge joke of being 'shit at school' and 'being dumb' but really his inability to keep interest in any subject (including the ones he does like) and getting low grades in everything actually make him feel pretty terrible but he can't actually find the motivation to do better, he's genuinely trying his best but he just feels like he's awful at everything and covers it all up with 'haha I'm just lazy and idc'. When he goes to college for tech related stuff he does significantly better, despite maybe a couple blips where it crosses over with other subjects he isn't as skilled in. After Josh's prank at the lodge he continues to try for a while but he drops out after a couple months.

i think its also a disservice to remmick's character; the moral nuance that comes to light when you consider his position as an irish immigrant to the US, a victim of the colonialist british empire just like the black main cast (although in a very different way) and how, whilst his desire to reclaim his ancestry and heritage is understandable and even relatable, his pursuit of sammie and willingness to kill literally everyone else at the juke joint is allegorical for how, regardless of their own marginalisation, white people will prey upon and steal from black culture(s) and destroy/disenfranchise black communities to serve their own interests, and the movie is NOT subtle about this either, delta slim literally lays it out for us "white folks like the blues just fine, they just don't like the people who make them"

unpopular opinion on the handmaid's tale (spoilers ahead)

this is absolutely an unpopular opinion but imo 90% of the fandom is driven by pretty priviledge/colorism in rooting for nick when it comes to the handmaid's tale. all he did was ti try and help june however he could until he could no longer - then he just accepted his role as a fucking n@zi once he understood he could no longer choose june/june would no longer choose him. literally his entire character revolved around his selfishness/his obsession with june, which is cool!! its cool to make flawed characters, but the fact very few people understand it BAFFLES me. the handmaid's tale unfortunately went through the same path the hunger games movies did by using a love triangle to monopolize the show and people's opinions while completely washing out the entire plot/point of the tale (pun intended), that is, how there's no "good guy" in a commander since they ACTIVELY uphold the regime. You know who knew that? Lawrence. He knew he was never the good guy and desperately tried to fix that - and somehow, he did. lawrence did more for the cause than nick ever did not because driven by another force out of love (he did all that to redeem himself from what he put his wife through, after all) but because once he could no longer obtain what he wanted - that is, his wife love and safety - he still continued with his mission. nick did not.

also i never liked the slander luke received. to be honest he was the most normal and realistic dude you could find in the handmaid's tale. besides the cheating (which made me never actually like it as a character lol) he did everything he could to bring back hannah and june from gilead. the fact he could do more or less nothing while in canada IS THE WHOLE POINT. is that he couldn't change a regime from the outside, with no actual skills involved in military strategic shit etc and all he could do was protest, find informations and so on. which is all what most people would be able to do in such conditions. i never found it funny how people called him "cuckhold/not a real man" etc as if it was his fault June cheated on him lol. because yeah she thought he was not alive but once she knew - that was cheating. probably really black and white thinking for me idc its just my opinion.

what eeelse. oh right the fact people are mad/upset serena didn't get a proper redemption arc and got away with basically everything. i get where they're coming BUT guess what - in real life abusers (cause that's what she is) DO get away. DO get forgiven even without properly going the ethical way of redeeming themselves. it's fucked up - but somehow that makes it more authentical for me. her relationship with june is extremely toxic and damaging and yet the most authentic in the whole show, in my opinion. they got me rooting for her more than i ever did with nick - and not because she's good and he's bad, quite the opposite - because that IS storytelling. giving depth to a character. making YOU choose whose right and wrong and who to love and who to hate. that shit is amazing.

this is why i just never understood why people are so fixed on the handmaid's tale writing. could it be better, yes. maybe by not making june rambo 2.0, by improving the pacing, but those are typical american mistakes in storytelling so im kinda used to it. for me all that energy should be directed more towards interesting, complex characters such as janine, lawrence (rip lol), lydia.

the first time roy got sick while he was with ollie, ollie was stressing. he’s not ready for this! stitches? easy. girl troubles? no problem. but a fever and runny nose? oh god oh fuck. he’s relying on what he’s seen parents do in movies, so he decides to read roy a story! roy is certainly too old for this and also Doesn’t Love reading, but he bears it because it’s kinda funny for a bit. after like third time ollie tries, roy just goes “pls. you don’t have to do this. lets just watch a movie or something.”. now it becomes a tradition that whenever one of them gets sick, the other will just chill and watch movies with them. they don’t need to talk, the quiet company is much better.

roy genuinely looks up to ollie, so much. he admires the man in everyway, roy grows as a person in ollie's presence. roy developed his sense of justice and ethics from ollie (you can see it through how they both prefer to try and change the system over the individual). i think for the longest time, ollie could do no wrong in roys eyes, which is why their relationship fell apart so harshly because roy had unrealistic expectations of the man and ollie wss just... Not being a good father in this moment. it took a while to adjust his self worth to not be based off his perceived value to others.

when ollie first starts going out with someone, roy goes and gives ollie the exact same talk. in front of his date. ollie is just like "ahaha.... kids right?" roy has to spend the night at hal's house hiding out from him. (not out of any serious fear of repercussion, more playful).

i know the stereotype is that ollie's always getting into fights over politics, but it is actually so incredibly both of them. these two only increase in energy and passion when with each other. catch ollie going "YEAH THATS MY BOY!" when roy is chewing the fuck out of someone.

to me? they are both so autistic... idc no one can convince me otherwise. ollie doesn't realise till he hits his late teens, and even then hes in denial about it. he comes to terms with it a bit better after the island, so when he starts to recognise the same things in roy? he is quick to give that boy all the support he needs. he refuses to even let anyone talk shit or about it near roy, because he is so petrified of the the same internalised ableism he had manifesting in roy too.

ollie gets a small tattoo for roy, nothing big. probably just a little one on his back or ankle or something. he didn't even really plan to do it? it just happened. he sends roy a pic after its done and roy is just. emotionally wrecked.... he does not know what to say.... how does he even express what this means to him? its a permanent commitment to him. (he ends up just messaging back "looks ugly :/", ollie can read between the lines well enough to know what he means).

the first near death experience roy has with ollie he gets Fucked Up over it... he's already lost 2 other father figures, he can't lose another. he doesn't say anything about it, but hes attatched to the hip for ollie for at least 2 weeks... ollie didnt even realise why till he mentioned it off handedly to diana and shes like.... thats a child. hes scared. Fix It. they still dont talk about it, but ollie stops getting snappy at roy for following him around.

zolu, arguably, has one of the most complex dynamics in the show. zoro has completely dedicated himself to luffy and luffy has pushed him to accomplish his dream. zoro sacrificed himself in thriller bark, giving up his dream, and promise to kuina, and nearly died in the process. zoros unwavering loyalty in luffy and luffys unwavering trust in zoro is part of the main appeal. im not a cishet female, so its probably why most of this got me upset, but i myself hc them both as aspec, and that they arent very sexual people. i wouldnt necessarily call either "female gaze-y" since the male gaze is a product of the patriarchy and the female gaze is more in a "how does this man treat a woman" way but yeah.

Shang is complex. And so should be his energy and expression. Like i feel mr. Lee was scared doing shang. But excited too going by his interviews. But i feel he was so worried a out disappointment,that he got blindsided by the bad writing. If i had a chance to write something for him. I would in a heartbeat. Give him a better narrative and story for his shang tsung.

Fat fuck Vulpes by yours truly, Blaze Lander. Inspired by the lovely drawing by @yourmateyoya ,egged on by @legions-top-dog , and because i force you to deal with all my shitty drawings, @noomycatz

Yes, once again, i have put too much effort into a shitpost. Roughly 2 hours as I reused a canvas on ibis paint for a 5th drawing lmao

Process below hehe i like to ramble

And just because i like to talk about my drawing process for characters with complex outfits, this is how my lobotomy brain does it:

First i do silly fun colored sketch. I use different colors to differentiate the "skeleton" from the, euh, fleshy bits, and the clothing. You can see lots of lines that would not be shown in the final product so it makes it confusing to look at.

Next i do a clean sketch.

This is where i clean up everything before doing the final lines. I use one color and a thin brush to make it easier to line over. Here i add any extra bits (like the top football armour) and "render the physics" as i call it, so properly drape cloth and the uhhh squish of stupid fat fuck vulpes' boobs and stomach. I also will balance the drawing here by flipping it and redrawing or using the drag tool.

Next is lining.

For this drawing, i used a 9.0 digital pen with a taper. Its my standard :þ. I kept my pen at the same size for this piece. Sometimes i line the outside darker to make the drawing stand out more. I decided not to as i wanted to give the drawing a more "serious" tone. (How serious can this be though lol-)You may notice on the arms little bits of the lines are missing, thats because i gave him some arm hair. I like make little details like that show over the lines. But since the one shading technique i used works with clipping masks, i had to but the arm hairs on a layer lower than the line art. Next is colour:

I colour in the drawing with midtones. Simple as. I tried to stick with warm colours besides his eyes, which are grey blue. Idc if they arent, im too lazy to google it. I mostly use flat colors but i did make his shirt a gradient. Next is do simple cell shading:

Depending on how i feel i shade with or without the colours in the back. I went with a sorta "non decrepit" light source here. Didnt want too much intensity. I used a deep marronish orange on a multiply layer on 45% opacity. Soft shading/lighting next:

I get intense with the soft shading. I use the airbrush with a deep maroon to add dark gradient and airbrush with a light pink to add a bit more depth. I usually use less light and more dark because im evil i like the intensity. I keep the layer the same amount of opacity and multiply it with the darks and soft light for the lights. Next are the shine highlights:

I use the dip pen hard with a taper to add light highlights of white on shiny bits like metal and eyes. I uses pure white, set the layer to 25% opacity, and use normal blending.

I also shade the lines because it makes the lines softer. I use a clipping layer on the line art, set the whole thing to a dark grey, and airbrush in darker and lighter parts. (I felt like a picture wasnt needed cuz its hard to notice.

For the background, i used a dark red i stole from the cell shaded layer, drew a vine pattern with the kaleidoscope ruler, and added a vignette. Vignettes are my cheat code for background hehe~ it makes the subject stand out while keeping suave, seriousness and formality. To make a subject pop out more, put the vignette behind the character but in front of the background. For more intensity but it on top of both.

Also- I usually draw with a level 10 stabilizer (i got shaky hands) but i drew with a 2 stabilizer so im surprised it came out so smoothly-

Also i gave him goggle tan lines because if i have to have them from playing tennis with sunnies, so does he.

APOLLO: He's just fucking AWESOME???!!! What can I say? He's such a easy to like god when you don't let the stupid retellings poison you. He's the god of writing and music (both topics that I love) and just SO much more. I can't even grasp how much the greeks fucking loved this guy and so do I. In a more fanon-y way, in my head he's the best possible protagonist out of all the olympians for a story. There's so much nuance with him, and I just love psychoanalyzing him. I also think his relationships with other gods and every mortals is so INVESTING and intense if you think about it in the right way. Also I love blondes. Blondes are hot.

ARES: The more people hate him, the more I defend him. He gets so much undeserved bullshit, he should've been the Hades of our modern generation, he deserves it way more imo. He's a great father, a great lover, and he dances! DANCES! He's probably the god with the most misinformation besides maybe Hades. Ares kind of gives me the underdog affect? Yes he's this big huge god, but he loses FAR too much to be considered the "bully" like the myths advertise. And I get that it's supposed to be a message "brain over brawn" but quite frankly I could care less. Ares is treated bad by his parents, he just deserves so much more I love this guy. I love paralleling him with other gods too like Athena or Apollo or Zeus. He's just so fun to write.

APHRODITE: I feel the exact same way for her as I feel for Ares. I used to hate her SO MUCH, until I realized how misled I was. APHRODITE IS FUN. The only thing is that I'd defend her wrongs because I don't give a shit. "Aphrodite was petty" IDC!!!! I hate how authors (Rick.) write her. She's SO much more then what she's reduced too. She's SO powerful. I think the only reason she's not equal to Ares because I don't know a lot of her myths. She's serving cunt ALWAYS.

POSEIDON: Poseidon being so high is probably a disservice to society. BUT HES SO COOL AND SO POWERFUL????!!! Yes he does shitty stuff I'm not gonna pretend he doesn't, but seeing him in stories is just so entertaining. I typically like reading fanfics with him during the titanomachy or just fanfics where he's being a great uncle (so... super not accurate but it's entertaining). Ngl I giggled when he asked Apollo to fight him during the trojan war and Apollo said "nah im good". Poseidon is a BEAST in the fight with cool ass powers and a BEAST in bed (um.. when it's consentual... fuck I hate greek mythology sometimes). STORMBRINGER (i hope that's Poseidon and not Zeus???) GOD OF THE SEAS

HERMES: Hermes is kind of low, but NOT BECAUSE I DONT LOVE HIM. I tend to like gods who are a bit... violent if it wasn't obvious by the top 4? And even though I know Hermes can be violent I never see him BE violent. He just seems too perfect for me? Name one flaw he has that the other gods don't also have. HOWEVER he's so fun to read about, I don't like Percy Jackson but when I saw Hermes in the tv show I jumped out of my seat. I really like him with Apollo though, it brings a level of complexity that I LOVE.

zeus... I can explain. OKAY SO, I LOVE COMPLEX CHARACTER RIGHT AND GUESS WHO IS A VERY NUANCED GOD IN MYTHOLOGY??? ZEUS! I specifically like him from the titanomachy, because I like to think he was just... different when he was younger. Kind of like one of the typical heroes until the power he has changes him over time. I wish someone wrote a retelling because I'd love to see Zeus and Rhea or Zeus and Cronos interactions during the war. Disclaimer, I'm aware he does shitty shit but so does everyone on this list besides like Hestia and...that's it.

DIONYSUS: His low ranking is more to do with the lack of knowledge but also I'm not too interested in the domains he involves himself with. Never went to a party, never did drugs, never drunk alcohol, etc. HOWEVER I love when Dionysus is completely unhinged. God of MADNESS GUYS!!! ITS IMPORTANT! I love the myths where he's genuinely just being scary as fuck, I love how powerful but underestimated he is.

HERA: She deserves better. If I was her I'd do worse, but like... not to innocent children and women. That's all.

ATHENA: I don't find her that interesting. She just kind of reminds me of that one girl in the class who reminds the teacher they have homework. I am aware that I AM biased though, my top 4 gods consisted of 2 gods that are at odds with her. I just don't like how biased the myths were in her favor, it kind of makes her boring. If Ares or Athena lost equally I wouldn't mind her, but she wins every single time. Even when she loses, Zeus doesn't care and let's her get away with it anyway. Athena, for me, absolutely requires other gods to add complexity to her character.

DEMETER: I like her out of spite because I don't like Hades x Persephone shippers from modern retellings. In particular I don't like the Hades x Persephone shippers that hate on Demeter as if they know anything about her. She's only low because I like a lot of other gods better and I just feel like I'd never be able to write anything with her as a main character because I've never "psychoanalyzed" her like I did the other gods.

HESTIA: *shrug* I don't know her that well, and she doesn't seem to really have any myths to jump off from. The lack of myths and personality puts her low on the list. Though I do love how sweet she is.

HEPHAESTUS: ...he bores me. He doesn't offer anything to me whatsoever. I don't necessarily feel bad for him for the Aphrodite situation either, and I hate when a lot of people who like Hephaestus ignore VERY IMPORTANT details on the myths to serve their purpose. The majority of it is just plain boredom, but I hate how everyone villainized Aphrodite and Ares.

HADES: ...sigh. He's a bit of a unfair one. I'm not someone who can seperate the god from the people who like the god. A lot of Hades fans tend to just piss me off based off the most obvious misinformation in the entire world. I HATE how they try to hate on the other Olympians as if Hades is somehow better then him? He has no myths that doesn't make him better, we just don't have a lot of him. I don't find him necessarily interesting, and I desperately wish for the retellings for him to end. It's not really fair because it's less the god and more the "fans" but whatever it is what it is.

to start off i rlly do think curlys theeeee biggest family man out of the whole shepard family for the simple fact that he doesnt rlly understand that u can have boundaries when it comes to family. not to say that tim and angela DONT value family, ofc they do, but only a small portion of it and thats not something curlys totally down w. out of the shepards hes the MOST hopeful to have one big happy family, hes the only one who deeply loves their mom and while he doesnt love his current stepdad and doesnt love his bio dad, hes still hopeful that at some point his mom WILL find that guy, she will find love and their family will b happy and everything in fall in place!! no matter how many times angela and tim tell him thats never gonna happen and that they should focus on themselves, focus on what theyve got goin on. tim and angela=small family accepters, curly=bigger family wanter basically

personally, i dont think curly will ever stop being a mamas boy completely, its just never gonna happen never ever in a million years, maybe he takes a step back from her and doesnt look up to her as much, but she will still occupy space in his head. so while yea technically he stands up to her when hes older, it wasnt that confrontational, more like a years long battle of acceptance he had w himself, and something tells me thats notttt what u r here to listen to so this will be about curly andddd father figures (minus tim). SO curlys just as suspicious as tim and angela r when their mom gets into a new relationship bc she seems to hop from one guy to another pretty quick, thing about curly tho is hes more open to them!! maybe hes finally “the one”. hes still protective of his family but willing to open up, always telling angela “he could be different”.

wellll for this one guy, he started off pretty well, took care what needed to b taken cared of, payed bills, seemed to care about curly, didnt hit his mom, bare minimum things. he even got along w angela (BARELY, but honestly plus everything else it was a milestone no other older guy has done so hey big bonus points for this guy). the one main problem??? he did notttt get along w tim at ALL, they r always at odds w each other, sizing each other up, talking badly about each other behind their backs (sometimes not, just acting like they werent there) things of that nature. the guy lets call him, idk john (no normal guy is named john, NOT johnny) is hostile towards tim cause HE wants to b seen as “the man of the house” like how tim is, but tim just wonttt give it up!!! tim is just tim, hes not doing anything wrong in this instance, he is genuinely just defending himself which john dont like at all. THATTTT is what makes curly hesitant to fully accept him, curly wants a happy family but he still puts angela and tim over that want at the end of the day, theyre the only thing curly has ALL guaranteed for himself.

everytime john tries to get curly to go against tim it leaves a bad taste in curlys mouth, so he “disobeys” him. tim appreciates it but i dont think he would put it against curly to go w john, he doesnt like it and doesnt agree, he would prefer if curly kept listening to him instead, but he gets curlys just a desperate kid looking to belong, as stupid as he thinks he can b. curlys gonna come back running to him in the end no matter what, thats what hes always done. ANYWAYS it would all boil over at some point when he tries to kick out tim out and it gets a lilllll physical, dishes r thrown, someones thrown outside, and then jacob threatens to kick tim out (like its HIS house mannn😭😭), which sets curly AWF. curlys like a lil guard dog for tim, so as soon as jacob lost all his “control” amongst those kids, he just dipped.

and their mom was sooooo pissed and NOOOBBOODDYYYY took it harder than curly, his mom was going off on him especially bc he was the easiest target to hurt. curly spent weeks looking down on himself for it, for destroying “what couldve been” even though he knew its what he felt like was right!! hes not gonna go on a full blown depressive episode, but he cant look his mom in the eyes and doesnt even come home half the time, at LEAST to sleep. tim and angela have stood uo to their moms shitty bfs numerous times before but this is the first time HES specifically done it, so dare i say, i dont think tim and angela help curly much days after the fight!!! when they do it they move on quickly, but curlys not like them and they dont know what to do, they think hes overreacting and tell him to just move on from it already, whats done is done and hes gone, wallowing wont get him anywhere. they dont mostly feel bad for what curly feels, they feel bad that he feels bad for THIS long

takes a deep breath. ik it hasn't even been a day but we need to talk about the umbrella academy season 4. obviously spoilers ahead. and a long, long fucking post full of complaints.

this season got me shinji chairing so hard. what the fuck. six episodes that last barely an hour each and all for THAT ending? don't get me wrong, the ending itself is... not the worst possible outcome, ig, but like. plot holes so big i can fit five's ego in there and still have spare space.

yeah, let's start from there. what the fuck was that? a half-assed five/lila romance was the last thing we needed. call me a hater, tell me i don't know how to appreciate complex stories, idc. that sucked ass. not only is it creepy in so many ways, but it also brought absolutely NOTHING to the story. "oh but if that didn't happen then five wouldn't have accidentally wandered into the station's coffee shop and met himself" I DON'T GIVE A SHIT!!!! IT COULD'VE HAPPENED IN SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS!!!!!! AND FIVE KNOWS BETTER THAN TO THROW HANDS WITH HIS BROTHER OVER A GIRL WHILE THE REST OF THEIR SIBLINGS ARE FIGHTING THE DAMN BLOB OF DEATH!!!

moving on ig. i don't like how allison's past actions seemed to be simply forgotten. i know they acknowledge it a couple times and that it's been six years, but lord almighty she assaulted luther, got him killed, and betrayed her entire family for a father that never cared about any of them. i don't think i could forgive that so easily (i'm looking at you klaus).

about the plot holes. first off, i would've appreciated even just a slight explanation of what the fuck reginald and abigail are? are they aliens? are they robots? are they alien robots? also, side note, what the fuck did reginald even do to grace atp? did he create a robot in the image of a human lady or did he turn the human lady into a robot???? and back to abigail for a moment: ?????????? and also the obsidian hotel????? AMERICA EXPLAIN. EXPLAIN

more plot holes: the solution to the cleanse problem. five said that the only way to fix the timelines is to let the cleanse happen, aka absorb them, so that the marigold inside them is destroyed since that's what split the timelines, no? and they made a big deal out of lila leaving because they needed all of the marigold holders to partake in this. except that YOU EIGHT IDIOTS ARE NOT ALL THE OCTOBER 1ST KIDS IN THE WORLD. THERE'S MORE, THAT WAS LIKE 43 WOMEN WHO GAVE BIRTH YOU DUMB FUCKING CUNTS. WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER 35 KIDS. uhm. sorry about that. moving on.

did not like how jennifer's character was treated at all. no time to develop, no time to get us to know her. straight to the blob of death without even explaining what was going on. how did the durango end up in her body? who even created that anyways? how did she end up in a damn fucking giant squid? why was she talking about the cleanse? what the fuck? listen im sure the comics explain this and ik this show is supposed to be a bit... confusing and nonsensical, but this is info you can't just leave out. feels like lazy writing.

and how the fuck did the cleanse cult even know that this nonesense that a kid coming out of a squid was blabbering about was connected to them having dreams of other timelines? how the fuck did jean and gene know? what?

yk what, im also gonna throw in some more personal points of view in here. i did not understand a single thing about the timeline/universe/whatever they ended up in at the end of s3. is it a new universe? if so, why is everything the same and WHY is the timeline still fucked? and where's the academy in this timeline? does it not exist? why? why and how is abigail still alive? was she even dead in s1, on the moon? or was that a cryo capsule? if so, why keep her there?

and there's more folks! why did the timeline train not stop at lila and five's stop? that was random and never explained, and feels like lazy writing, again. or like an excuse to get a specific two people to mingle just to create an unnecessary and unwanted love triangle? perchance?

lastly, how can claire and lila and diego's children still exist if their parents were erased from existence? and since they still exist but their parents never did, how does it work? do lila's parents just look after these random kids? without reason? wouldn't not having existing parents at all create legal problems?

overall, i have a lot of issues with this season. it feels extremely rushed, and honestly quite boring in comparison to the other three. and the lack of explanations makes it so hard to enjoy because i'm busy being confused. im not so mad about the ending, i kinda saw it coming (my choice was between they all die or they get stuck in a loop), and I don't think it's necessarily a bad ending for a story like this one. i am a bit sad, yes, and i will miss these characters and regret the fact that they didn't get the lives they deserved, but i think it's an ok ending. not the best, but ok. but the rest of the season? ass. yet another show absolutely ruined by netflix's inability to see past money and actually produce a good ending instead of rushing things. peace ✌️
