Over the summer Henry Winkler was a guest on The Rich Eisen Show to promote HBO’s Barry when he randomly asked about meeting Patrick Mahomes.
When Eisen confirmed he had met the Chiefs quarterback, Winkler added “I root for that team even though I’ve never lived there. I think he is just phenomenal to watch” and extended an invitation to meet up for dinner.
Mahomes countered that invitation with his own, inviting Winkler to attend a Chiefs game next time they were in Los Angeles. This November Winkler did just that.
He spent the day meeting the team’s chairman, coaches, their kids, and some of the players. It was after the team warmed up that Winkler and Mahomes finally met and their families even watched the game together.
Speaking to KansasCity.com, Winkler recounted, “We were all like we had known each other a very long time. And they invited me to Arrowhead (Stadium in Missouri). It was a wonderful experience.”
