It is awake because you are here. You are here because it is awake. What is it? It's been down there all this time, waiting to meet you. In the dark.

It's so insane to me that it's canon lore in Halo, the prestigious military sci-fi shooter about a green supersoldier gunning down alien religious fanatics, that Humanity used to have a hyper-advanced interstellar empire 100,000 years ago that got nuked into being Neanderthals by aliens because humanity had the favor of basically gods and the aliens didn't. That's wild to me.
Not only that but the reason master chief is so insanely lucky is because it's implied he has been bred across 100 thousand years to be especially lucky by an alien librarian of life who felt bad for humanity.
Not only that but the flood, the space zombies from the games, are also revealed to basically be the corpses of murdered gods shambling forward out of their own hatred and spite towards all life that not only infect you spiritually but also on a mental and even spiritual level and are so insane they even infect the fabric of space and time and subvert the laws of physics.
Like that's wild. How do you go from a semi-hard sci-fi setting with religious undertones to fucking ancient human space empires and murdered zombie gods that infect the flesh of the universe. it actually goes surprisingly hard. Like I'd watch the hell out of a sci-fi animated series in the style of arcane with this idea.

There's still some time before our departure, we can rest here for now.
The most memorable of my diving experience? Probably the time we came across a rip current. The strength of a ripcurrent is like many invisible hands, I tried to move toward the light of the coast, but my body was dragged back down over and over again…
Looking back on it, it was a real thrill. But this time, there's no need to worry. I've already checked on the current and tides for today, it should be quite nice.
So, take it easy and enjoy your vacation, Commandant. In the case that you do encounter some unforseen circumstances, I'll protect you.
We haven't been to the seaside in a long time, it'll make for an interesting training environment
-- Happy activation day, Lee
