The Godfather Trilogy - Kay Adam’s hate

People don’t understand the movies (the book is another matter) are about Michael’s downfall as there’s really no way out from that sort of business. They harp on and on about how Apollonia would have been better suited as a mob wife, but it’s not the point. She was a mere plot device and nothing more.

People hate on Kay and cheer Michael on when he hits her as though what Kay did was way worse than all the crimes Michael had committed. They cheer on a murderer and shit on a woman who, in her desperation, got an abortion to get her living children out of that destructive world. She thought she couldn’t have another child of that cold-blooded man who promised her many things which he never fulfilled. In the draft of the script Michael is even more frightening, he tells Kay he would use all his tricks to keep her and the children by his side even if he was to have her imprisoned in the compound, and he wouldn’t let her leave him because she was HIS.
