I was inspired by stain glass windows and story books and really wanted to do something fun with that

It was weird to work in more brighter colors but it was a fun challenge for me had to fight the urge to add neon red

Something I love about ninjago is the fact that the villains actually WIN sometimes. It immediately raises the intensity and perceived danger level when a villain makes a good plan that actually works. I will never forget how intense the final battle with the overlord was in season two when I watched it the first time, and a lot of that is due to Lloyd losing against overlord/garm on the island. He failed, the others failed, but after that they still went to the city and fought, and that made me love and admire the ninja in a way I hadn’t, because how many times do you watch a hero go into a fight knowing they will lose everything if they fail again, knowing they absolutely CAN FAIL. And it’s nice that they keep up with the stakes throughout most other seasons. It’s definitely one of the things I really love about this show.

Just a little funny idea but the overlord can change his shape/form right? Imagine if he makes himself look like lloyd and he just looks like one of those shadow mario clones from super mario galaxy

why aren’t there more concepts around the overlord being absolutely terrifying. horror-movie level eldritch being. the embodiment of DARKNESS and EVIL ITSELF should be a terrifying entity not only psychologically but also physically

Hi, can I rant about the Overlord for a second?

Too bad I'm doing it anyway I've been re-watching ninjago so I can FINALLY watch Dragon's rising and just finished season 2 and oh my god look how GOOFY the Overlord in Garmadon's body is!

WHY IS BRO BUILT LIKE THIS MY GUY THIS IS NOT MENACING AT ALL

Face built like the Temu Ender dragon and it gets worse when you realize that the lip flaps are not in sync at all.

His dumb little hands are so stupid there were like, 5 close up shots on them in the second to last episode no ninjago season 2 I do not want to see those cursed grippers put that away-

Anyway I have more dumb screenshots that made me giggle uncontrollably trust me guys I tried to take the ending seriously (and I did for the most part that shit was fire ngl) but it's hard when the villain's built like a knock of minifig
